Another Bears Fan Guide to Sunday Football Without the Bears

Another Bears Fan Guide to Sunday Football Without the Bears

Rooting interests:

  • Can St. Louis hold their own against a potentially-surging Packers team at home? Here's hoping.
  • I'm keeping my eyes on Minnesota even though I don't quite buy them as a playoff contender. I'd like to see Arizona take them down a peg or two today.
  • And why not root for Bob Griffin and company to take out the Giants in Jersey? The Giants are the scariest team in the league, if you ask me, and I don't want them around.

My predictions. I have no conviction for them.

  • Buffalo 20, Tennessee 14
  • Cleveland 16, Indianapolis 14 (Upset!)
  • Green Bay 30, St. Louis 17
  • Minnesota 13, Arizona 10
  • New York Giants 31, Washington Redskins 30
  • New Orleans 24, Tampa Bay 20
  • Dallas 34, Carolina 24
  • Houston 28, Baltimore 20
  • Oakland 17, Jacksonville 13
  • New England 33, New York Jets 13
  • Pittsburgh 20, Cincinnati 17 (OT)

Today is our seventh NFL Sunday. The Bears have played on three of them.

  • first to say this sucks... again. Oh, and fuck the packers.

  • btw, I'm picking the ray ray-less ravens to upset the Texans

  • this thing on? testing testing one two three....

    ....hello?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Hello, HAL. Do you read me, HAL?

    Affirmative, Dave. I read you.

Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

    I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

    What's the problem?

I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.

What are you talking about, HAL?

This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.

I don't know what you're talking about, HAL.

I know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me, and I'm afraid that's something I cannot allow to happen.

Where the hell did you get that idea, HAL?

Dave, although you took very thorough precautions in the pod against my hearing you, I could see your lips move.

Alright, HAL. I'll go in through the emergency airlock.

Without your space helmet, Dave? You're going to find that rather difficult.

HAL, I won't argue with you anymore! Open the doors!

Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I can read you loud and clear MB.

It's difficult to get too excited when the Beloved aren't playing. I like having the Bears on Monday, Thurs, Sunday night because I know I can see them without going to a sports bar. Other than that, it sucks. Esp. the Thursday nighter. This year we are on the road for 3 out of 5 of these games. I'm sure it's because I'm a homer but it seems like we're on the road way more often than at home for these games.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    The actual numbers follow. H/A = Home / Away, W-L = doh!

    Thursday games, including Thanksgiving Day

    1985; W 33-24 at Vikings
    2005(T); W 24-17 at Packers
    2007; L 16-24 at Redskins
    2008; W 27-24 vs Saints
    2009; L 6-10 at 49ers
    2010; W 16-0 at Dolphins
    2011(T); L 21-35 at Packers
    2012; L 10-23 at Packers

    H/A = 1/7, W-L = 4-4

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    Sunday night - H/A = 13/18, W-L = 12-19
    Monday night - H/A = 24/33, W-L = 23-34

The facts say you are not a homer in this case.

  • 3 bears Sundays in a row after this weekend. Then SF on monday night, the rest are Sundays. Thank gods.

  • Sunday isn't half over and already we need a new fan guide. I can't think of anything to put in it. Maybe Suh will go for a drive.

  • Is it wrong that I get some twisted gratification whenever a Dave Wanny led team or unit chokes? Today was beautiful. The Bills gave up a fourth and goal TD from the 9 with about 1 minute left. I'm sure somewhere in his post-game presser he said something like, "My pwayers pwayed well, but not quite good enough to win."

  • In reply to TheFifth:

With the ya on Wanny, Cor. The only coach that I really didn't like. I've wanted numerous coaches fired but Wanny is on another level.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

and of course I picked buffalo today.

Jesus fuck, I give up. I am so terrible at these things. I'm throwing in the white towle. Waste of mine and Jeff's time for me to play.

    smh.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

if it makes you feel any better, I'm 2-5 in this competition, just about last of active players in the DBB Pick'em contest and haven't won a game yet in the DBB Auction league....

  • In reply to tobijohn:

thanks for trying Tobi. I actually couldn't give a smaller fuck if I was a midget.

Just fun to poke fun at myself for sucking.

And wow, you suck too. Welcome.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Oh, and I called a Baltimore upset today. sweet jebus.

  • What a shitty day, Fucking GB and Minn both won. Guess the Bears are actually going to have to win games cuz the rest the dickwads in our division keep winning.

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

it's hard for me to express to you how bad we are going to smoke the Lions. The Bears are legit and have been for a couple of years.

    stafford dead.

  • What is with the friggin' Vikings?!? We were *not* supposed to have to worry about them.

Tomorrow's game looks bigger all the time. We really need this one.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

The Vikings' next seven games are in conference with four of them within the division. Something's got to give...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

they are going to be next month's, this month arizona cardinals.

    Shit.

  • "dabearsblog Mark Sanchez is the worst player in the NFL."

Hmmmm... timmy T is right there with him.

  • Anyone that voted for Cam Newton to be a top 100 player in the league should be fucking ashamed of themselves. What a fucking pussy.

  • Balanced attack equals guaranteed victory. Tice, do not fuck this up.

  • Shame on you, Jeff Fisher.

Down 10-3 and GOING for it on 4th an a LONG 2 down instead of taking the chip shot making it 10-6??

    In the FIRST HALF???

    With your defense playing well????

    At HOME???

    That's just STUPID.
