Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers Thursday Night Thread

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers Thursday Night Thread

Three quick points:

  1. The Bears can't put themselves in a hole tonight. The game the Packers wish to play is get up by a few scores and unleash their pass rushers on the overwhelmed Bears offensive line. Cutler must be accurate and smart with the football early.
  2. I expect Dave Toub has cooked something delicious for the special teams this  summer. Tonight would an ideal time to serve the meal.
  3. Julius Peppers. Big players need to play big in big games. Play big tonight, Julius.

Bear down.

Front 4 need to get pressure and that fuckin prevent lovie does needs to fuck off, finleyand that fuckin slant we shut that down BEARS WIN 38- 17!!

  • Moving the chains and consuming the clock. will be the key to beat them.

and I´d like to add that it´s Melton´s time to show who is the best interior man in this game right now.

    bear down.

  • I'm hungry.. I'd like to order one PepperMelt with a side of lightly sauteed liver.

  • I hope PeppMelt are hungry too. I don't mind seeing pressures, but I want Rodgers to suffer.

  • @bradbiggs #Bears CB Charles Tillman first player on field. Working out with team doc. Looks good to go but we will have to wait and see.

  • Awesome. If even just to boost morale and make the Pack prepare for him.

However, he needs to sit down if he's ineffective.
    Lach too.

  • @Alex_Flanagan
Just caught up with bears cb Charles Tillman at lambeau He will play tonight against packers. Good news for Chicago

  • 37-25 Bears. Mark it down.

  • Found my wife-

  • really?

    How about this instead:

    (my god, nice vagina)

  • how about her:

  • Well, it’s time once again to face our arch enemies. What can compare to this rivalry? Obiwan vs. Darth? Patton vs. Rommel? Superman vs. Lex? The Joker vs. Batman? The Warsaw Pact vs. Nato? Cats vs. Dogs?....Nope…none of these come close to the bitter, blood thirsty, down to the bone marrow rivalry between The Chicago Bears and the Greenbay Fudge-Packers. NOTHING.

It has been said 2 wins vs. Greenbay is a Bears winning season. How true this is in the hearts of Bears fans everywhere. We rise up tonight as our Bears take the field as one. One force of will that with plead, curse, spit, cry, hope and pray for our warriors. Warriors who represent us upon the field of battle.

Gladiators who represents a city’s people, tough as nails and who never quit. A battlefield graced with such names like Luckman, Sayers, Butkus, Suhey, Dent, Ditka, Bortz, Singletary, Hampton, Halas, & Payton. It is holy ground and as our warriors get down in their stance, or set up to return the kick, or hunker down under center, we will hold our breath.

May the spirit of every Bears fan, past or present, fall upon that field like a gentle snowfall in the dead silence and may it turn into the raging blizzard of determination, vengeance and tenacity that will fill the souls of our faithful warriors so no matter how hard the climb, no matter the amount of blood and sweat spilled, no matter the bruises or cuts endured….they will know they do not stand alone. For we stand with them, let that strength find them at the final whistle tonight…Victorious.

  • Not to piss in anyone's cheerios...

The one player who could hurt the Chicago Bears the most versus the Green Bay Packers is..

  • fuuuuuck that guy. he was garbage against the 9ers.

Sides, he's already gotten his sweet sweet revenge. he won't be as motivated this time around.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I still remember the guys that made fun of me in high school that I would beat on the boards in high school..

They went to the same college as me and I asked them to come play some tackle football...

I still remembered those evil bastards and still hit the shit out of them. I am sure Benson feels the same way. Plus, the 49ers have the best defense in the NFL and I have a hard time choosing a team that has a better defense than them.

I hope your right. I just don't feel like Benson is done getting revenge.

  • When opportunity knocks, bear down and open the damn door.

  • @ZachZaidman
Matt Toeaina is dressed in the gear Bears inactive players wear.

  • Doing a quick internet search, I couldn't find a single national sportswriter who liked the Bears tonight. Of the local guys, Steve Rosenbloom, of all people, was the only one who picked the Bears to win tonight. Other than Stevie, it looks like everyone else did pushbacks on the Kool Aid...

  • @ZachZaidman
Nate Collins is dressed in the gear Bears inactive players wear.

  • Secret weapon. Rodgers = Dead

  • So, it's just gonna be Melton, Okoye and Paea at DT?

  • Hint ... hint ... HINT ... RT @JayGlazer If I had Greg Jennings on my fantasy team I'd sit him

  • Excellent.

  • Tonight in Lambeau
    Witness foul Packers heroes
    Crushed beneath paw blows

    At them, 'nelli's best!
Lay down as by storm's tempest
    Packers dreams to rest

    Jay, Earl, Brandon, Matt
    Alshon, Devin... cant stop that
    Lay the cheese out flat

    Aaron's giant frown
    Show Navy and Orange renown
    Oh yes lads, Bear Down!

  • In reply to SC Dave:

    That was the tits.

  • I actually Lol'ed

  • Kyle Adams sidelined by shoulder injury. Toeaina sidelined because Amobi Okoye is active this week and a better pass-rusher.

  • Adams was injured last year too.

Hopefully Okoye will be a nightmare for the Pack tonight (see how I did that?)

  • Melton has another double whopper tonight. Book it.

  • Anyone have a sense of what Eric Weems' role is supposed to be? It seemed like that was a pretty hyped FA pickup, but from what I can tell he is the alternate KO returner, and no discernable role in the offense. Or?

  • In reply to Scoom:

    Yes, especial teams.

  • In reply to Shady:

I think Toub saw the same thing I did: Hester has lost a step. Can't quite turn the corner as fast as b4.

Hester still has unmatched instincts, vision and "clutch gene", but...

  • In reply to Shady:

    exactly lol

  • I sure as hell wouldn't mind Hester being ridiculous tonight. Tell you that much. Hell, or Weems.

  • In reply to Scoom:

Gunner. He and Devin Thomas were going to be the gunners, until Thomas retired. Toub tried a few other people in the gunner position, including IIRC DJ Moore, but then after final cuts they traded Clutts for the CB Sherrick McClendon (or whatever his name was, I forget). I believe the new guy played gunner along with Weems vs IND.

  • In reply to Michael L:

Have you heard anything about Graham ML? Man, I'd love to have that guy back for a gunner.

  • Corey? He took a knock in week 1 I think

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

Yeah. I know he wanted a shot at starting CB, but he's a nickel, at most.

That guy was like glue on punts. Oh, well. Once he realizes he's no starter, maybe he'll come back to the greatest SP teams ever.

  • Baltimore Ravens CB Corey Graham (leg) walked gingerly off the field in the third quarter in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals due to an apparent leg injury suffered on kickoff coverage.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

    Dang. Maybe not lol

  • Hopefully Peppers can fight through the holding and triple teams and sack the double discount douche. Personally, I would have Briggs playing a QB spy to stop that fucker from scrambling.

    Bear down!!

  • I'm beginning to feel like I once did b4 a Tyson fight.

    Welcome to the terror dome!

  • god i love the innerness

  • JT Thomas, Alshon, Evan, Shea= Silent assassins= Packers Muertos!!!!

  • Bear Down! I think Jeff and you guys will like this story.
Just stopped to get beer on the way home from work in cheeseland. Live by a college, and the place was packed with Packer fans. The only Bear fan, in front of me in line, was wearing a #65 Mannelly jersey. I couldn't help it when I said to him, "hopefully no audibles from the long-snapper tonight." He got a kick out of that.

Lots of nervous Packers fans right now up here in cheeseland.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

Good stuff, glad to see Mannelly being represented in cheeseland!! Sure is gonna suck when he calls it a day.

  • here we go boys.... fuck I'm nervous. gotta win this one man.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    It's ok, Jay's got this.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

    Yeah, sure DID!!

  • mariuchi about our win last week, "they got lucky"

Yes, he was serious when he said that. Fucking cockmuncher.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

not one of them picked us btw... I can't wait to see the look on their smug, ugly mugs

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Serisouly, what the fuck was that shit?

  • In reply to Shady:

  • The Packers should line up for blow jobs the way these NFL Network announcers are kissing their asses.

  • In reply to Bears-4-Ever:

  • awesome greg jennings commercial...

    ...hee hee

  • are they serious with that shit... that is the most terrible song I've ever hear (you're welcome jeff). Who's the fat dude btw?

  • OK, what's the strategy behind deferring the kickoff?

  • timmy J baby!!!

  • damn, their punter is money

  • fuck, really?

  • Man, Podlesh. Still not kicking well. Almost got lucky on that one though.

  • maybe forte should worry more about blitz pickups than bitching about TD looks

  • I get paid 8 million a year but I can't pass block for shit. Get Bush in there.

  • fuck really?

  • Chicken motherfucking dinner.

  • ooohhhhh heeeerooooooo chickindinner!

  • uuuhhhh ohhhh... did he hurt his hand?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

See if you can get on the mic, right meow.

  • In reply to Shady:

Am I wrong or was that actually a fumble? Shoulda been punting from further back.

  • In reply to Scoom:

Yea, I think that's why Rodgers jumped own it.

  • Good D! McClellan looking great.

  • doors open boys! let's do this cutty!

    Shady, jump online maings.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • Woot Woot, all aboard!

Gotta establish the run. Take a deep shot, make that D loosen up. Then run it down their throats. Make them gurgle.

  • Okay, just like last game. First series sucked. Now let's go.

  • Called it! Shea, one of the silent assassins!

  • Garza! Gah!

  • once again, our Oline shitting their pants. I expect mistakes from Webb, but common Garza, you fuck.

  • Feed Bush and Forte the rock! They cant stop our run...

  • That's all we had to do tonight Fres. Pound it, then hit them off the play-action.

  • where is Peppers?

  • In reply to Scoom:

    Oh, there he is!

  • In reply to Scoom:

    haha nice

  • Putting Peppers a lot at DT. Unstoppable.

    Pepp, Melt, Shea, Izzy/Woot

  • Now how about a first down to break the ice?

  • Spencer fuckin sucks

  • the diabeeteez

  • horrible... fucking horrible.

    Jay has PTSD man. fuck.

  • Can we rent an oline somewhere, or put up some fucking jersey barriers or something?

  • fuck you erik, fuck you.

  • Artoo was right, Benson playin angry.

  • mcCarthy TOLD the entire preee corpse that he was going to run it all game. All fucking week.

Are we fucking serious right now?

  • did we re-hire Martz? Why aren't we running the ball against a weak horrible D?

The Packers are more committed to the run than we are. WTF!

  • Didn't see clearly, but it looked like he got off the field in time.

  • No fucking way you can overturn that.

  • refs just spotted the home team 3 man.

  • Refs just handed Packers three points. Hope that isn't the difference, but I think it will be.

  • Bears have a net total of 0 yards....

  • who's cock does Rodgers suck in the offseason to get all these calls.

  • Gotta be Goodell's

  • That ref watched Hawk throw a late hit and then flagged Carimi, that is fucking nuts!!!

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

    Fix is in....

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Carimi's gotta be smarter than that. How Lovie doesn't teach his guys not to retaliate after Tillman cost us a game is a real fucking mystery.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

I agree, but the ref saw the whole thing not just the retaliation. Usually thats what they see, but this prick watched the whole thing unfold.

  • fuck man, these refs are BRUTAL tonight

  • fuck man. webb.

    This feels like Martzball

  • Our Oline is KILLING us.

    Garza killed a drive.
    Webb killed a drive.
    Carimi killed a drive.

    Who's left, Spencer and Louis?

Once again, our D has to make some supernatural play to keep us in the game. Jebus.

  • Rough start. Just gotta be glad it's only 3-0. Gotta survive until they figure this thing out. The genius of Lovie's D is that it doesn't let you fall too far behind, forcing Pack to use a lot of time for their points. Bears will figure this out though. Need to calm the fuck down.

  • In reply to Scoom:

If it gets to 10-0 though, I don't know. This is beginning to seem beyond half time adjustments....

  • fuck man, fuck

  • What's Tice leaving Webb alone with Matthews for?

Jennings being out means Cobb gets in. Which is worse?

  • OMG Webb is a fat worthless sack of poo...Plz get him some HELP!!!!

  • The more things change, the more they stay the same. This looks like the Bears circa 2005. Heroic D, pathetic O. At least it feels familiar, like an old t-shirt you thought you'd thrown away.

  • Henry M was doggin Mathews that last sack. I'm lovin that!

  • Mike Martz, er, Mike Tice, I mean...

Even Mayock got them confused, and that dude memorizes every draft pick on the planet.

  • Henry Melton just became my favorite Bear. Mocking Mathews on his home turf. Awesome

  • Well, that was a fucking clowning.

  • nice job getting out-toubed

  • Gotta give the Pack credit on that one. And you gotta see how desperate they are for this win. They can't use that play again the rest of the season.

  • 27 yards? Really Mr. Toub?
It's time to lock the door and take off the gloves. This shit needs to get brutal.

  • Ugh. Nice fake by gb. C'mon Bears.

  • WOW...that fake FG just made my butthole hurt.

  • Time to put Webb to bed, I think.

  • Take Webb out back and shoot him.

  • jesus fucking christ webb.... gee he's going to get better though. fuck me man!

  • Our man JMarcus again

  • fuck Webb nation in the face

  • wow.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Still with the diabetus? Even after Jay ripped it up in about four night games last year?

  • In reply to Ufficio:

Yes. The Lambo beat-us. Fucking Cutler.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    His face looks terrible though.

  • there's that Cutler bone head throw

  • On further inspection...

    you know the rest.

  • Refs, make the fucking right call!

  • We better get a TE over on Webb's side or we won't score a fucking point tonight...Good Job Defense...once again you're left holding the dog shit bag.

  • In reply to Bears-4-Ever:

Yeah, that's 0 points on the D, 7 on the specials, and 3 on the refs.

  • What a shit-show.

  • I know its early but I'm not impressed by Tice's play calling, or his ability to put an O line out there.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

I'm pretty sure Martz is still calling the plays.

  • And the thing about that TD - the first down marker was the 1 yard line. All you have to do is not completely sell out for the block and it's our ball. Fuck.

  • Briggs cant even accept a gift

  • refs get first half game ball

  • Briggs cant drop that ball

  • What's Briggsy laughing about?

  • awesome first half guys. so excited to see all of lovies halftime adjustments. Soooo excited. Fucken a man.

  • This is fucking rancid. Fuck AJ Hawk, fuck Webb and FUCK the replacement refs.

  • If you woulda told me we would be shut out the first half............FUCK!!

  • I swear I'm going to go to ESPN radio and personally hang Greenberg by his balls with chicken wire for picking the Bears tonight if we lose this game.

Tice clean off those glasses and get Jay some real protection the GB defense sucks...what we didn't know was our O-line sucks even more!

  • 7 passing yards!?! fuck me.

  • Chris Williams will prob come out in the 2nd half

  • Not sure if staying up to watch this one is worth getting by tomorrow on four hours of sleep...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    3:06 am here. Contemplating bed.

  • EVERYTHING has gone wrong and we're down by 2 scores. Let's see what happens on our 1st possession of the 2nd half. Have to agree with everyone. Webb sucks, refs totally suck and the fake FG was money. Cocksuckers!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

the worst part is that there was more holding on that play than there was on our fake return last year.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

    good point

  • And if the second half turns out to be even half as bad as the first, watch out for the Invasion of the Trolls ....

  • Wow, this has been real impressive...NOT!!!!! I hope they can wake up and quit fucking up in the 2nd half.

  • Heads up everybody. Second half will be better, I can just feel it. Remember this is the worst pass D of all time. Just don't know if it will be enough to win.

But I know I never picked this to be a W on the schedule. It doesn't need to be. We just need to see something better than "total catastrophe" from Cutler & Tice

  • In reply to Scoom:

Worst pass D, but we have the worst LT according to all stats and expert, and they got a PB rusher.

They're playing a Safety over Marshall. So, logic dictates, run your PB 40Mill RB, right?

Nah. Tice just as stubborn as Martz. Mikes are all the same I guess.

  • And remember this-- the Packers O has only 6 points, none of which should have happened. The first FG was only because of the wrong call by the review official, and the second because Briggs dropped a gift INT from Rodgers.

  • In reply to Scoom:

it seems every time someone drops a pick, the next play turns out to be a big one for the other guys...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Yup. Just like with Brady two years ago.

  • "Good Luck"

7 yards passing. Glad Cutler passed along the karma.

  • Bears already look defeated. Need a big play.

  • Benson gonna end up with more yards than Forte. Classic

  • Number one halftime adjustment: double team Fabio the entire second half.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

  • DID we practice this summer or not????!?

  • In reply to gpldan:

Looks like they spent all week jerkin' each other off.

  • Ah, the signature timeout two minutes into the third quarter. You always know when you're dealing with a Lovie Smith-coached team.

  • Everyone seems to be on the wrong page.

  • Webb is still out there...ridiculous!!!

  • Thank God for Forte.

  • In reply to Scoom:

Not good, the training staff looks like they are looking at his knee.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

    No, I think they're re-taping his ankle.

  • fuck man, can AYTHING go right today? FUCK!

  • Marshall HAS to catch that ball. Terrible.

  • Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • There's one dropped TD by Marshall.

  • First of many, I suspect. Throw to Earl.

  • We're beating ourselves to a wretched pulp.

  • I give him about 4 more in the season

  • Shit, really? Well, just go out and catch the next one dude. Everything that can go wrong has tonight. Maybe they're just getting it all out of their system.

  • at least we're on the board and there is a TE now helping the sack of mean Webb. If we ever needed a turn over now is the fucking time or a Hester magic runback....PLZ sweet baby Jebuz!

  • In reply to Bears-4-Ever:

well, and at least they didn't start off with a 3-and-out like usual. They chewed up a lot of clock, so that kept the Pack off the field and helped rest the D. You worry in these games that the D will just wear out by the end.

  • dear god, this is painful. but it ain't over yet. let's bear the fuck down.

  • I think Tice having zero experience as an OC is showing as he tries to match wits with Capers who has a lifetime of DC experience.

  • Toub is gonna pull out some crazy play. Maybe even a surprise offsides.

  • Roger that...BEAR DOWN!

Marshall will catch the winning TD...we'll give him that miss.

  • And, Forte in the locker room

  • C'mon, get Benson to fumble, please.

  • Forte out. Allen active?

  • In reply to tobijohn:

It's gonna be the Bush show now.

Honestly, he's a better draw/run blocker for this game anyways.

  • *pass blocker

  • Bush can do the job...keep it rolling!

  • 3 and out for Pack. Rest helped the D. Now, another long drive. FG is okay, but gotta get something.

  • crikey, i'd give my left testicle for some crazy MB voodoo shit here. a long ball to marshall, a hester runback, gimme something!

  • In reply to BACON:

No, gimme lots more Bush. (So wrong on so many levels. )

But really, Bush and more Bush, please.

  • 2nd and 3 to 3rd and 11. Awesome.

  • how was that NOT a facemask??? Fucking refs are killing us

  • Kellen Davis has to go. I mean, really...

  • fuck man. fuck. we're cooked.

  • Just like old times guys, fuck this offense.

  • Man, just throw it out of bounds!!!

  • Bennet has got to fight for that ball.

  • So...Webb, Carimi, Garza and Davis have screwed us thus far.

Oh, and Bennett too - you can't just sit there and wait for the ball to hit your gut. I learned that in 5th grade.

  • Good night, fellas....

  • The Tillman punch out. Classic. He's the best ever at that.

  • Tillman's still got it.

  • Peanut is the man!

  • Donkey Punch!

  • Sorry Peanut..the o wasted your gift.

    Same ole song and dance.

OMG this is frustrating...I still have hope...but we're running out of time long can Our D hold them to FGs before they light us up?

  • Jesus, this is the worst play-calling and pass catching I have seen, and that's saying a lot.

It took two quarters for Tice to figure out we have a run game. Then, it took a Forte injury to figure out Bush is more effective.

Then, Marshall, Bennett, Hester shit the bed.

  • So much for taking away the draw game, which was my #2 must

  • We're beating ourselves. Total fuck ups, can't catch a ball to save our ass.

  • Wooten, Jennings, Pepp, Peanut playing out of their minds.

Too bad Tice incarnated into Martz.

  • Bears have to go all out on offense now. Max protect, and go deep.

  • Mike McCarthy so closely resembles an actual pig that it is uncanny.

  • This game is still within reach. Packers offense hasn't scored a TD. If you hold Rodgers to three FGs (two of which shouldn't have happened), I think you're doing well. Something to remember for the future.

  • In reply to Scoom:

    until now...FUCK!!!!

  • In reply to Scoom:

um, never mind. Jason Campbell time?

  • This is pathetic,,,just pathetic....good night all. Let the trolls have their way, they got every right to rip us!!!!!

  • well so much for karma...maybe I should have gond with the Hippie, tree-hugging save the planet Kaema after all. ...(sigh)

  • Fuck AJ hawk

  • These fucks piss me off. I never post. I talk smack and live da bears. This is an embarrassment. This was my super bowl. Suck fucks.

  • I'm glad the Bears O got this ass whooping. That's what they get for going in there all cocky.

Even though a safety was playing over Marshall all night, Tice STILL decided to throw it.

Even though GB said they were gonna establish the run, the D STILL let Benson out gain Forte.

    Pride cometh before the fall.

Bears aren't ready for the SB like the 9ers, plain and simple. If they were, they wouldn't have choked.

Maybe somewhere along the line they'll turn the corner, but once again they have proven that they're a wild-card team, and until they win a clutch game (the 9er game), that's all I'm gonna expect out of them from now on.

  • done. I'm out. this is the same bears team. No oline. where are the oline appologists again? fuck man. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The only O-line apoligist were Emery and Tice.

Unfortunately, they were the only one's that mattered.

  • Tremendous effort by the D only for the o-line to fuck it up once more. Jay also has to sort these night issues out.

Fuck AJ Hawk. Matthews acts like a dick but makes up for it with sacks. AJ acts like a dick full stop and does nothing but hit late and flop.

    I'm outta here.

  • That's not Webb's fault. Tice still trying to force it. Cutler holding it too long

  • Here comes the Toub crazy offsides...

  • Tim Jennings is the best player on our whole team. Who saw that coming?

  • In reply to Scoom:

    You're welcome

  • Jay has held the ball way too long the whole game. Hell prob work on that. Fuck it we will be fine. Good ass whooping to humble the O. Rams, get ready for a thrashing.

  • In reply to OsosFan:

Yeah, but this one really called into question Tice's play-calling. Gotta do more to negate the pass rush. This was a close game for a while, why'd we go away from the run? Bush was getting 4-7 yds every time he touched the ball. No reason to start throwing the ball like crazy.

  • I don't like all this smiling going on

  • Suck fucks.

  • Yea, Scoom. I have no idea why they keep passing and let cutler keep throwing like crazy

  • lets just call this place

    Da Trolls Blog

  • In reply to gpldan:

You know they're coming. Can't wait!

  • I gave up and turned it off after Cutler tried to force it to a double covered Marshall. Oh well. We were definitely not ready for prime time. The D was good enough, ST's were meh, the O and play calling were awful, the refs and the media were in GB's pants all night. We would have lost no matter how the refs called the game but they sure made it easier for the Fudgies. We shot ourselves in the foot all night. You can't do that against a good team and expect to win.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Hester looks bad. We should insert Weems. I don't care. Hester doesnt' look explosive AT ALL.

Tice called a Martz-esque game. Can anyone come in and choke him?
Cutler choked, but much of that had to do with Martz, I mean, Tice.

    WRs dropped easy passes.

    Everything went wrong.

I really don't care if the Bears win the next 5 in a row. They can't beat anyone when it matters. And no, I don't count the Eagles, Lions or Cowboys in that.

Until we beat either the 9ers or Packers, we're no better than a wild-card one and out team.

  • I would have no problem getting Weems involved at Devin's expense. Still want to see him back there for kicks. Gotta agree we're not in SF's or GB's league right now. Gotta remember this offense is still a work in progress. Going into the season all of us knew GB on the road on a short week was a tall order. Most of us got so worked up over the O last week we got carried away. Same with GB getting smoked last week.

  • fb_avatar

Agreed. That's why this game was big. Dallas might be a statement game. The Lions game will be a payback game. But this was the big test. Offense Flunked. bad.

Tice sucked tonight. I love Mike Tice. But tonight he was channeling Martz.

  • Hope Forte is OK. He played well other than the shitty block early in the game. A couple of times, if Bush had Forte's burst, there were some big gainers to be had.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

And if your Aunt had pair she'd be your Uncle.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Thanks Al. I can always count on you.

  • Seriously. What the fuck was that? And without Greg Jennings.

  • One bright spot: the D, which was supposed to be our weakness this year, looked really good. Also, the Bears have a week and a half to stew on this, rest up, and get ready for the Rams.

  • :)

  • AND, now we get to wait for the "How dinged is Matt Forte" shoe to drop to put a nice big fat cherry on this Dog Crap Sundae.

  • Well that was a fucking embarrassment.

1.) I was wrong...the front four did a good job tonight.

2.) I was right about being in trouble this season when the Bears failed to draft at least a few good offensive linemen. Our line sucked hairy balls tonight and not just Webb...though he stood out because of how Matthews continued to beat the shit out of him almost every down except when Webb could hold him and the refs didn't throw a flag. We were getting run over in the trenches all over the line.

I'm really in the dumps after watching this game tonight. I really thought we were better than this. Hats off to our usual they did the best they could and really brought it. Even Urlacher, who obviously was not 100% tonight played hard.

  • Not much to say; just got home and have read none of the above comments but only three points:

    1) Earl Bennett is the best pass receiver the Bears have until someone proves otherwise.

    2) The Bears will NEVER win a Super Bowl with Jay Cutler if the path is through Lambeau.

    3) With luck, Emery will find a coaching staff next year; long term our best bet is to hope Lovie, et al, finish out the season at 1-15 so that we can get rid of an org that thinks Webb is a left tackle.

When the Bears traded Orton for Cutler, I bet a guy I know that Orton would make the Pro Bowl before Cutler. He said I was crazy and I looked and said two words: Ron Turner.

But now, the words have changed. Now they are: Jay Cutler.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

Dave Woddson's pick was all on Earl. Really bad play on his part. He either should have come back for the ball or got in Woodson's way. Oh well.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Because Cutler threw *another stupid pass*?!?

Cutler is a loser. We need to admit it. As 4ever wrote so clearly:

"They can't beat anyone when it matters. "

Summarizes my 47 years as a Bears fan. I'm really about done.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

    you're out of your mind.

  • Well that sucked. But it was just like the back to earth letdown at NO last year in week two, only this time Carimi's still heatlthy. Unfortunately Forte went out and I hope it isn't serious.

    Lotta season left.

  • In reply to ben in norcal:

We;d have been way better off if it had been Cutler.

  • Fuck you Cutler.

  • fb_avatar

About as bad as it could be. Cutler is not an elite QB. That could have been Ron Turner or Mike Martz's offense. Just F'N pitiful. Defense played their asses off. Held Rodgers to 16. That game was there for the taking.

No real impact on the season. Much bigger for the Packers. But after going 1-7 you'd like to think your "elite": "franchise" qb would show up. The whole offense was obnoxious.

    Tice turned into Martz.

  • In reply to Big Mike:

Cutler sucked wang but he had a ton of help. Tice, the OL, the WR's, KD (what a waste of money) all of them sucked all night. Once we get down Cutler is trying to throw the 5 TD pass (same as the 5-run homer). Pitiful showing. I knew the O was still a work in progress but I truly thought ugly performances like this were a thing of the past.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to CanadaBear:

My point is at some point he needs to step up. He got smaller as the game went on. The question is, "is he a bully"? beats up on bad teams, but can't hack it in the bigger games? I sure hope not.

  • In reply to Big Mike:

Overall he plays well but for some reason GB really has his number. We all went crazy last week and now we're all going crazy the other direction this week. The key is to win the games you should, play well down the stretch and get into the playoff playing your best ball. Got a long way to go.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Canada, I seldom disagree with you, but this time I do.

    Cutler is a loser.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    Shit done just got real.

I'm about checked out on the Lovie era. I'm serious.

I was pissed and disgusted after the Saints game last year, we started 2-3 and shit was ugly and we pulled it together and won 6 and the train started rolling. Maybe.... maybe we can get a streak going mid-season and get going again. But I don't see the core I was hoping for.

You cannot polish a fat turd like Webb. You can't. All you can do is tuck Spaeth in there and give up the seam route to that side, and all that does is allow them to bring another blitzer.

It's pointless. We all talk about pressure with 4. Well, we gotta block with 5. That's how the game is played now. And we can't. We gotta max protect and then they are going to sit a safety over Marshall and Jefferies can't get open.

I don't know. I don't see a team here that is anything more than wildcard and done. And that's optimistic.

The decision to completely whiff this offseason on the OL, with the only meaningful pickup being Chico Rahal, is laughable. It's stupid. It says we don't care.

Watched Jay in the post game. He was chippy, the circles under his eyes looked like bruises and the whole dia-beetus thing is just a weakness, no matter what we think, it is.

Pretty disgusted with the org right now. Lovie era needs to end.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Can't argue about the OL. When Cutler's bad, he's really bad. One good thing about Lovie, he doesn't panic and this team will rebound. Way too early in the season to throw in the towel. If we don't make the playoffs and there are no convenient injury excuses, there's a good chance you'll get your wish. It's just one loss. It just makes all of nuts because it's always to the Fudgies and it's always a national game. Fuck!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    Cutler is Rex II

  • In reply to SC Dave:

    you're out of your mind

  • In reply to SC Dave:

    That is one ridiculous statement.

  • I have one comment and one comment only for tonight and will revisit the rest tomorrow.

    1. That could have been one of the worst offensive gameplans I've ever seen.

What happened to running the ball on a team that could barely stop it.
What happened to short quick hitting routes so Cutler doesn't get hit.
What happened to moving the pocket?
What happened to using Forte against linebackers or Nickelbacks when Marshall is doubled?
What happened to Kellen Davis' equilibrium? How many times did he just fall down?
Why do our safeties line up 28 yards off the ball....and still take terrible angles?

Holy shit man, it's like Martz was calling the plays. Insert "predictable playaction or 5 step drop" in for "seven step drop" and it's the same fucking thing.

We have Bennett and Jeffery who excel in the short to medium passing game and they get almost nothing called to them.

We have kellen davis running 2 yard routes instead of 7-10. What the fuck.

I'm done for tonight, this was crazy. Jay gave up at least 2 coverage sacks if not more. Throw the ball away man, fuck.

And giving up a fake field goal for a fucking touchdown on 3rd and 26 after 2 sacks? In gradeschool the pro's no. It was basically a fucking 40 yard run. holy fucking shit.

I'm going to bed. I'm disgusted but it's early and there will be time to make changes.

Anyone even mentioning Cutler as the reason we lost needs to take a football 101 course. He didn't help but a drunk 7th grader playing madden could call a better game than Tice did tonight. talk about not adjusting to what the defense was handing to you on a silver platter.

  • In reply to Waffle:

meant Kellen was running 20 yard routes instead of 7-10

  • In reply to Waffle:

    What he said.

The ony thing I'd add is Jay needs to grow some balls with the management. If the play calls suck then change em at the line like Jimmy did. End of. You're the general - not Emery, not Lovie, not Mike Tice. It's you Jay.

They fought for Maximus, not Marcus. Grow a pair.

  • once again

  • Wow, I didn't realize J Webb was so horrible at shuffling his feet. That's the first thing I learned how to do when I played in highschool. No womlnder he gets beat, I thought it was lack ofsstrength but its just his technique is bad, dude needs to be more light on his feet. Sheesh!

  • In reply to OsosFan:

Webb does not belong in the NFL. Nothing more to say about him.

  • Chicago you beat the Colts.... the worst team in football, then you're winning the Superbowl. Good Luck trying to guard Brandon Marshall. Cutler yelling and bitching and pushing Webb - the game was over right then. Rodgers never yells like that. Lovie v. Mike McCarthey - smoked. Urlacher nice career, next Clay Matthews, HE'S A BEAST!
Fake Punt -That was the best play I've ever seen.
Guess what our D learned how to play. GB is gonna be a team to deal with at the end of the season... I gotta feelin. I love the dumb look on Lovies face... That's the biggest advantage we have!

  • In reply to MrARodgers:

That i have to agree with 100%.
Agree gp... said the same thing to shady tonight. As long as lovie has this team we'll never be a contender. I've said it since day 1.

  • In reply to MrARodgers:

Actually Rodgers was yelling, just like Cutler, at Cobb I believe, after the Tim Jennings pick.

  • In reply to ben in norcal:

When Peyton Manning shouts at players he shows leadership. Jay does it and they call it a hissy fit. His body language on the sideline sucked though. Sanch-like. I can understand his frustration though -dude's been here for years now and they haven't done jack-shit to get some ballers on the line. Kreutz leaves and the ony thing they do is move a broken down guard with no knees over to a position he's never played in his life. No moves have been made to groom Urlacher's heir. I don't want any 'interim' motherfuckers in the middle of the Triad. This is the Chicago @#$% Bears and our Mikes are legends.

In fairness to Emery, we were never in a position during FA to land a big fish or make a big pay on a stud in FA. Anyone we drafted would just have been some rookie bum and not soidified the line anytime soon. This is it. SB year or bust.

  • In reply to MrARodgers:

Rodgers gets time to throw the fucking ball. Name me a QB in the league who doesn't need time to throw the ball. You get adequate protection and sometimes even Eli Manning could look good and even have people calling him Elite. Put Manning on the Bears and he'd be on the bench in Cleveland now.

  • In reply to MrARodgers:

It was a field goal you drunk fuck.

  • I put most of the blame tonight on Tice. His "duh" offensive play calling was stupid.
Before the game tonight, I talked to a good friend of mine who is the smartest football analyst I know. He happens to be a Packer fan. The first question he asked me was "Are the Bears going to double or triple team Clay Matthew tonight?". I said of course they will. Tice is a smart coordinator. He said, "Clay Matthews is the only defender who can change the game in the Packer's favor".
I thought Rodgers would get rattled after the sacks, but they just ran the ball and changed field position. Jay was the one who got rattled. He threw off his back foot all night.
The Bears got some work to do on their protection schemes.

  • 4ever is right. Dont blame the o-line, blame the play calling. They gave us a dose of our own medicine and cover two'd us to death. Cutler needs to be dumping the ball off and getting RID OF THE BALL. No short routes looks. It looked liked Martz's offense all over again. Jay needs to realize there will be 2 on b. marsh. Kellen davis falls down on every play regardless. What the status of Forte? FUCK ME.

  • AND CUTLER GETS HAPPY FEET REAL EASILY. I don't think he can take us to where we need to go.

  • Yeah, its early, but I'm going to get MB style cynical and say that cutler just won't get it done. period. FUCK!

  • Step off the ledge, somewhere between week one and week two lies our real team, i think this was a low point, nobody said we'd sweep the Pack. We still get another crack at them.

Cutler was terrible but I'm not giving up that easy on this team, actually saw some good in this game. Is Rodgers going to throw for one pick per td each game this year? No(+1 bears). Is the claymaker gonna get 6 sacks/gm this year? No(-6 bears).

My point= long season. I'd rather get the tragic and pathetic game out of the way in wk 2 like we did, or even better in wk 1 like gb did. Now we know what Packer fans felt like last Sunday evening.

Looking to get this game out of my system. You win, fudge, see ya next time.

  • In reply to ben in norcal:

I will raise my hand and admit I thought we would sweep them. That defense was not the 32 best in the NFL.

  • Tonight this blog is the blog of broken dreams

  • Wow.

First off. Cutty looked ill. He always looks ill during night games. But man, calling for his head after losing to GB in week two .... in Lambeau?

We were a few dropped balls - offensively and defensively from being in this game. Clearly our good protection last week was due to Freeney being taken out and Indy being the worst team (or thereabouts) in football.

The knock on Webb was always that he can't deal with speed rushers ... so we help him out early on with chip blocks? Nope.

Matt Forte cannot block for shit and I don't understand where this idea comes from that he can. He's embarrassing he's that bad.

Jay seemed to look for Brandon on every play. Warning. The other team aren't blind and stupid.

Alshon must have banged Kristin hard, dude didn't get a look-in.

    Have screens been outlawed?

Armando Allen up the middle? Just because Bush can pound it ... Allen is expected to do the same?

Seemed to be very little adjustment as - if they have to wait for the half to change things up. Or just fucking run the ball which they couldn't stop.

Hey Brandon .... stickum. Mad love for you bro, you were doubled and bracketed all night ... but dude ... end-zone time you gotta catch that one.

Before anyone puts their head in the oven ... this happened last year and we turned it around ... without the weapons available now. Having said that, the line looked atrocious :

I've never liked Webb in the NFL. CW is a fish. Garza is a crappy center and his knees are done. I've never liked Chris Spencer. The jury is out on Carimi. We like Lance. But Jesus ....

Smashmouth Bears football is what we need to be doing. Run it run it run it, playaction. Football is not difficult stuff, we need to stop making it hard for ourselves. This passing to open up the run is like trying to run before you can walk.

Check out the sacks, hits, hurries and knockdowns on Cutler tonight. If he had to force it it's because he had to force it. Throwing the ball out of bounds is safe, yes, but it doesn't move chains. Dom Capers just pounded us with strategy, and if we leave fatboy one on one with Hairball then shit happens. Blame Cutty for some silly throws, but don't blame him for receivers dropping the ball. Play calls. Great defense. Clay Matthews.

Money aside (I took a hit even with the spread), that game just sucked moose-wang. No doubt we'll pull the arms off the Rams, but I'm not expecting a Lombardi now, not unless we snag Joe Thomas or Long somehow.

  • Agreed, Cutler was dead to rights in this one, not only was the pass-pro atrocious+cutler held on to the ball too long, but the run game was abandoned even when it was productive. Add on to that the drops and the pix, and lets face it, there should have been 6 int's.

But I'm still firmly on board with Mr. Cutler, easy to blame the game on him with 4 picks but atleast 2 of those were after it was pretty much done and god-damn those drops, that Marshall drop in the endzone changes the whole game.

  • In reply to ben in norcal:

I can't believe all the hate I'm seeing from fans around the web. I can see him walking at some point.

  • For all the Lovie haters out there: The D did their part, that end shouldn't have mattered, we lost this one on O and specials. That fake FG ended what we knew ad the game, some stupid bullshit like that.

For all the Hester haters: didn't he have like a forty yd return? He did drop a key pass but who didn't?

This loss is owned by everyone on O except maybe Bush and Forte

  • In reply to ben in norcal:

D was great. Maranelli is the sideline Yoda.

Forte though? His pass pro sucked as it always does. And seeing Allen go up the middle was Martzian. Scripted plays? Bush was gashing them on the inside because he's good (and big), Allen should have been used outside where the Packers have been weak.

  • Sometimes it helps not having seen the game realtime except for twitter feed and son's misspelled texts. I know how horrible it is to shit the bed against the ONE TEAM you'd most not want to do that against - and we did -

Come on people. Went into this game saying we COULD win but it was such a MUST win for the Pack, in Lambeau, shortest week known to the NFL, it would surely be tough sledding. Didn't expect to win but hoped.

There's great news out there, listen up. I have 6 words for you

rams cowboys jags lions panthers titans

Not saying it's not going to take some good playing to get there, but I AM saying 6 in a row from here is VERY POSSIBLE. Even with that performance last night. Yes, 7-1 going into the Texans game is very possible.

The part I'm not so sure about is the unknown about one MIke Tice as OC. Is he any good at it? Based on Game 1, I was very pleased. Based on Game 2, not so much, at least according to what I read here.

We'll find out. But injury to Forte aside, that was the least meaningful loss you could possibly have. Game 2 of the season, weren't supposed to win, and a nice long recovery time with egos bashed and black eyes everywhere, a lot to prove and lots of time to prove it.

Cheer up Bear fans, it ain't that bad! We have to be 2-1 before we can get to 7-1 so back to work, and watch out Rams!

Sorry for the long post, it's been a while.

  • In reply to PhilfromSATX:

    Welcome back Phil!

Two of those teams have a pass rush, so that's 4-2 out of the six for me.
We went through this with the line last year, and we'll sort it out in time in spite of Webb's sloth. When they get some scheme together that works, we'll be ruffling Dom Caper's ridiculous 'hair' in no time.

I'm good with Bush as #1 and Allen on the outside. Somebody needs to give James Brown and Joe Anderson a call though. More missed blocks and dropped balls and there needs to be consequences.

  • "I care about this,'' Cutler said. "This isn't just a hobby. I'm not doing this for my health. I'm trying to win football games. When we're not doing the little things or things the right way consistently, I'm going to say something. If they want a quarterback that doesn't care, they can get someone else.''

And there it is. There is your first sign that Cutler is ready to quit on the Bears. I think he's had enough.

  • In reply to gpldan:

And I don't even blame him. After Forte laid down like a sick dog when trying to block #51 blitzing up the middle, if I were Cutler I would have probably grabbed his face mask and yanked it and yelled WTF at him.

  • In reply to gpldan:

So nice to see Matty earning that guaranteed money he bitched for...

  • In reply to gpldan:

i did not read it that way. they asked why he was animated with Webb.

  • I agree with Ben in Norcal. Right now we are somewhere between the Colts and Packers games.

I do find it hard to believe that the gameplan we saw wasn't drawn up in a drunken stupor at Chicago Cut Steakhouse after the Colts game though.

This too shall pass. We will still go 5-2 heading into the Texans game.

I'm not ready to call it a season like a pussy. These guys have more heart than that.

I predict a call to arms and some common sense playcalling changes as Cutler also said in the post game.

  • In reply to Waffle:

When Waffle is the blog's Johnny Sunshine, things are bleak.

The team embarrassed the rivalry, and the City. They looked unprepared to play. Not just overmatched, but as if training camp in Double-B never happened. As if all they had were old dusty Martz playbooks with some of the pages ripped out by Tice.

I'm not actually convinced this morning that IS ACTUALLY what they have.

  • Last nite was very humiliating to watch. We didn't just lose a game...we were never even in the game. We got out played, and out coached once again, and by the same fucking team. We had a great oppurtunity to get right in the Packers face for the whole season and what did the Bears do, gave the fucking game to the Packers. It'd been one thing if we at least done something on offense...but we have basically the same players in the front line as last year so I no longer think it's just the coaching. What happened to "max" protection for the QB..isn't that why we got all the tight ends?

  • It's probably been since 2006 where I've been this discouraged after a Bears loss. It's not the fact they lost, it's how they lost in horrendous fashion. Before getting into details later today, it's obvious to me this offense, and Jay Cutler in particular have a long, long way to go before we start talking about Championships again. I know it's just one game, but I've never been so unsure of Cutler as I was after that shit show. I need a stronger word than disappointment to show my frustration with this performance.

  • In reply to Shady:

That was why I was going with the "WAS" attitude after last week Shady..."Wait and see"....
What pisses me off the most is Tice and Toub have been coaching and playing the Packers for years and to get bitch slapped like we did last nite is pretty sad.
