  • 1st to say we can't have our WR's drop 7 passes next game. Dallas D is no joke.

  • Bear down, Chicago Bears, make every play clear the way to victory.
Bear down, Chicago Bears, put up a fight with a might so fearlessly.
We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation with your T formation.
Bear down, Chicago Bears, and let them know why you're wearing the crown.
You're the pride and joy of Illinois, Chicago Bears, Bear down.

    Jerk.

    My thoughts from the game:
    • Awesome. Got great pics of the field and going in and everything. Just fucking awesome.
    • Everybody was totally flat… including the crowd
    • Webb is fucking terrible
    • Chilo needs to fucking get reps, get his head in the game, and/or get the fuck off the field
    • Gotta catch the ball Brandon
    • Gotta catch the ball devin
    • The D was awesome
    • Pep, what in thee fuck was that bullshit!?!?!?!
    • Timmy J!!! told you guys
    • Still love DJ
    • Paella looked strong, so did izzy and okoye
    • Pringles is actually looking a lot better this year… IFF he can stay healthy
    • Erod out, Bush out, fucking matty out. Fucking Armando Allen!??!!? Didn’t we cut him? Jesus, hopefully this is only early season and everyone will be ok for the playoffs
    • The stats tell it all… the o is NOT clicking on even half of the cylinders, but seems to be more of an early year sloppiness thing. Hopefully
    • Ashlon is the shizzy. GREAT pick. Seeing him on one side and marshall and Bennett on the other… yikes, once we get clicking again, we’ll be unstoppable.
    • Jay just seems… off. I think his thumb break and surgery really looks to me to have changed the mechanics of the way he throws the ball

    Story of the day….

So we’re walking out of the stadium with the stream of other fans. Hundreds of urlacher, hester, butkus, ditka, and the occasional funny “orton” or “Grossman” or I even saw one “Olsen” jersey that made me chuckle. I told the partner guy that I want to get an archuleta jersey to wear to the dec game.

So we keep streaming out with the rest of the herd and ahead of me I see this dude in an old lions #20 sanders jersey. I turn to the business partner guy and say, “what in thee fuck… why is that dude wearing a lions barry sanders jersey to a home bears/rams game.” We just laughed and continued walking.

So we get to the first tunnel where people are getting a little rowdy shouting and singing and shit. We get to just before the entry, and the guy in the sanders jersey is right in front of us now because the crowding has bunched everyone up.

Then out of nowhere, right next to me, I hear LOUDLY, “Dude…. What the fuck are you wearing? Why are you wearing a fucking barry sanders jersey to a Bears home game… against the RAMS?!?!? Why? Why? Why?

I turn to see a drunk bears fan, early 20s, in fucking zumbas and a lach jersey just abusing this guy. We were crying. Truly funny.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Glad you had fun, man.

The Pep thing was no big deal. The volume was off at the bar I was at, so it may have been after the whistle, I couldn't tell, but it was just a little shove.

Bush didn't get hurt did he?

The defensive line has got to be the best in the league right now. Conte, Pringles, and Jennings are quickly making me forget our secondary worries. Always loved Peanut. If Lach can return to form, and I thought he played pretty good today, all we'll need from our offense is games like they gave us today. A few long plays from the Receivers and a decent ball control running game.

Hester is getting closer and closer to breaking one, and I'm glad the coaches finally realized you don't take the greatest returner of all time off of Kick return duties because he MAY be good at WR, which he's not.

    The Specials looked good too.

We'll be in every game this year and if the offense can be even a shadow of what we think they SHOULD be, we're going to make some noise this year.

  • that was the one thing i really wanted doc, a hester run back.

btw, the pep thing was just dumb. just not like him at all. stupid.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

That was a chump call on Peppers. The play was whistled dead, and the beast just pushed back with his enormous strength.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

+1 on Armando "Watch Me Fall Down" Allen.Yes, he went to Notre Dame but no, he doesn't belong in the NFL.

  • I wonder if it says anything that the Bears have beaten the two worst teams of last year, although they are somewhat improved this year. Let's see how they do against the 49ers, the Texans, the Cowboys, etc.

Being both third place teams, they get Carolina again, and I bet that Chico whoops them this time.

  • In reply to jack:

mr. mehof.... table for one.... mr. mehof.

  • Sound was off at the bar I was in. Rams have a decent D but our O is awful. In the second half they knew it was a run every time we ran the ball. Stuffed the shit out of it. Lots of dropped passes but Cutler was off all day (again). Glad to see him take off and run. He needs to do that a lot more. I'm glad we've got Bush but for all those posters calling for him over Forte (I'm looking at you Irish), give me a break. A couple of nice runs in the first half and then nothing. Not to mention he missed a block when Cutler got sacked. If the coaches don't bench Webb after this game, he's got incriminating evidence on the coaches or owners. Time to put Scott in there or make him the swing tackle and put Cookie in. Rachal wasn't exactly a huge upgrade. Not giving up on the O but I have almost no expectations until Forte is back and healthy. The more things change the more they stay the same. We win with great D and ST's and hope the O doesn't fuck it up.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

The sign of a truly awful OL is they can't pass OR run block.

And we can do neither. The season will drag on, the D players will start to get bumps and bruises and the weather will get colder and the field wetter, and then - perhaps then - the OL will start to gel and get pushes in.

Right now, it's good we have a bruiser in there like Bush, because it's two yards and a cloud of dust with him, and that at least gets the DL gassed.

  • In reply to gpldan:

to be honest, and fair, they actually CAN run block and have proven that..... we had 2,000 yards last year and bush had huge chasms to run through in the first half. Obviously, knowing Jay and the bears couldn't catch and throw it, stl just started paying more attention to the run in the second half and that limited our production... if jay had been a bit more accurate and the receivers could catch the ball, you would have seen some more big plays in the second half. Also, remember that we were up in the second half and wanted to run clock- stl knew this and defended appropriately

  • In reply to wpq4:

I think this is a fair assessment.

  • In reply to wpq4:

Every Bear-run up the middle went for a loss .... define run-blocking.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

The part where Forte's superiority over most running backs really stands out is catching passes. But at least Bush catches the damn football and that's a start.

  • I'm kinda with Jack (Mr. Mehof), in that there is really to get excited about beating two of the worst teams in the NFL last year.

At least the best player on the team is in an important position. Robbie made his 9th straight from 50+ today.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

And anyone who watched the Vikes knows we have our hands full.

  • Couldn't really resist going and commenting on something. 'course, I was nice, like always

  • shea and alshon both look like great picks so far- how did shea not get a .5 sack today? he was in bradford's face a lot....

once we can figure out what the heck we're doing on offense, marshall and alshon opposite each other are going to be quite formidable

  • Fuck the 49ers man, they just cost me a cool thousand quid.

On a positive spin, ho-lee-shit did anyone see the catch that Washington made against the Lions, that was insane.

Also, fuck the rams, dirty mother fuckers....and that's WITHOUT G. Williams!

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

That was an amazing catch. Could be the play of the year so far.

  • BTW was that OUR Mike Martz that commentates for FOX?

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

wow it was. Never thought FOX could sink lower but there ya go.

  • First. These aren't the same rams of yesteryears. Fisher's team play tough.

Second, this is the NFL. Sure we've beaten the two worst teams from last year, but no win in the NFL is easy. And we beat the Rams by 17 on a day when our offense looked average at best and beat the colts by 20.

Third, we have a new O.C. A new beast of a reciever in Marshall, a new beast of a reciever in Alshon, and a new beast of a back up RB in Bush. We. Will. Get. Better. On. Offense.

Fourth, our Defense looks as good as it has in the Lovie Smith era. We're getting to the QB with our front four. Our secondary is clicking. We're leading the league in turnovers, and close to the top in sacks as well. We held the GB offense to one touchdown.

Things rarely go like the 2008 Patriots where you just come out and crush everybody.

As far as I see it, we have one glaring weakness. Our O-line can't block for shit. But we've got studs at every other position and a top notch defense. The Offense will get better. We won by 17.

I just don't get the negativity. Save that for the fools at the 4 letter and the Tribune. We have no reason to be pouting right now. Have I mentioned we won by 17? What the fuck is wrong with everybody?

  • +1 Doc. Great analysis. I wholeheartedly agree. Positivity. 2 and 1. There isn't as much disparity between the best and worst teams in the league. Any given sunday hold true more and more each year. We're going to have to battle for every W. The rams are going to give teams fits all year.

  • It was the Rams dude. No prizes for beating the teams everyone else beats.

  • Championship Defense !

    All hail, Tim Jennings!

TEPID offense. Not ready for prime time.

    Um, we have:
    Brandon Marshall, 6' 4".
    Alson Jeffrey, 6' 3".
    Kellen Davis, 6' 7"
So, of course, we throw the jump-ball fade to, 5' 11" (MAYBE in his spikes) DEVIN HESTER!?!?!?
    Who called THAT play?!
    Ron Turner?!

The O-line improved over the course of the season last year and I, for one, don't understand why we have to hope to repeat that process?

What a LUXURY it is having a #1 draft pick as your "reporting-as-eligible-additional-blocker" on short yardage.

The call on Peppers was LUDICROUS in light of the 'no-call' when Carimi was THROWN down well after the whistle.

For a moment, I thought Ed Hochuli had sneaked back in to referee.

Plenty of room for improvement, Bears.

On the other hand, you COULD be a LIONS fan.

Talk about FINDING ways to lose!

    To TENNESSEE!

    Kickoff return TD.

    Punt return TD.

    Strip/fumble TD.

    AND, the "Coup de grace",
STUFFED on 4th and 1 in O.T. iside the 15 instead of tying the game with a chip-shot field goal from one of the great kickers in NFL history.

NICE call, Coach Schwartz. And way to inspire confidence in your knucklehead defense.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

That was hilarious, Schwartz should have realised QB sneaks only work on Madden.

  • Nice to see all the richly deserved accolades for the late, great, Steve Sabol.

  • fb_avatar

I dare say Caleb Hanie could have played Cutler today.

  • Yeah, I KNOW we don't want the Vikes to be the ones to put it there, but I DID love the look on Jim Harbaugh's face when they showed him on his sideline with 2 minutes left and his game just awaiting kneel-downs.

  • I want to go on record by saying that as of right now, the defensive secondary is NO LONGER a weakness. Peanut is an Apple Fritter Factory (aka Turnover Machine); Jennings is The Most Improved Bear and a legitimate Pro-Bowler if he keeps this up; Conte looks like a an honest-to-Halas Free Safety now; Wright no longer looks lost. And DJ Moore is still one of the best Nickels in the league.

As Lach gets his range back, the Cover 2 is gonna get tighter, and as the pass rush continues to develop (holy shit, imagine where it might end up, considering how well the front 4 has done so far this year), there will be fewer opportunities for opposing QBs to exploit the seams.

Who cares that all the Pro Bowlers on defense are old. They're still damn good, and playing stronger than ever with a secondary that's beginning to gel.

And Tim Jennings is 90% of the reason behind that gelling. He's a certified stud and now there is no "weak link" in the secondary.

  • What happened with Pep? Who in the D got Sacks? I wasn't able to see the game. But I'm happy that we won!

  • In reply to OsosFan:

Izzy tore it up today. I think he got credited with 2.5 sacks.

  • Holy crap, if you do one thing this week, make sure that you watch the Lions/Titans game. The bullshitting refs, the awfulness of Chris Johnson, the implosion of both teams, the catch by washington and yet another example of Stafford not hustling on a turnover makes for really good watching.
