Audibles From the Long Snapper: Urlacher, Sanzenbacher & Replacement Refs

Audibles From the Long Snapper: Urlacher, Sanzenbacher & Replacement Refs

Apologies for what has been and will continue to be sporadic posting for the next few days. I am beginning my third week of jury service today but there is an end in sight.

How many more years do you think Brian Urlacher plays at an elite level in the middle of the Bears defense? Three? Maybe two? In short #54 only has so much time left on the football field and none of that time should be wasted in Bourbonnais or in under-attended preseason stadiums. Every moment he spends on the sideline this summer, with his knee wrapped, may be another moment he can spend on the field come January.

When will I worry about Urlacher? If he's not on the practice field Wednesday, September 5th.

When I wrote an elaborate piece about Dane Sanzenbacher it was meant with a sufficient amount of mockery. "Why oh why, Jeff? Why must you waste our eye energy on a piece about a meaningless entity like Sanzenbacher," wrote a fake comment I just made up. Then yesterday happened. Devin Thomas, seemingly out of the blue, walked away from the NFL. That squealing you heard from Bourbonnais was coming from Sanzenbacher's training camp dorm. (Side note: Good for Thomas. Football is not a sport one should play against their own will.)

Here are the facts at WR. Marshall, Jeffery, Hester, Bennett and Weems are guarantees. If the Bears go with six WRs, the sixth will be The Great Dane. Lovie likes him. Cutler likes him. And contrary to many of the opinions on this site, I think the fans quite like him because fans tend to like white guy receivers. They're easy to root for. Perennial football underdogs.

But even if Sanzenbacher makes the 53-man roster it will be a cosmetic decision. The sixth receiver never suits up on Sunday. Never. Unless the Bears suffer an injury to one of the top four receivers, Dane will have minimal impact and few touches of the football.

First, I don't believe the NFL will utilize replacement referees this season. Like most strikes of this type a deal will be reached once the workforce faces the actual possibility of missing meaningful work and meaningful paychecks.

Second, I contend it wouldn't matter much if we saw replacement referees in the NFL. Does anyone think the current crop of refs are that good? It seemed every game of 2011 was marred, one way or the other, by a poor or misguided call. Coaches, players and fans were constantly complaining about the officiating. Now we're complaining those officials may not be around. Sounds like a Woody Allen joke.

What's so hard about refereeing the NFL? It's not like soccer, basketball or hockey. It does not require high levels of conditioning. And how many things are actually called on a weekly basis? Holding. Pass interference. Illegal shift. False start/offsides. You're telling me, with six weeks of preparation, knowledgeable football men could not be put in a solid position to do the job effectively come September 5th? I agree with Pete Prisco of CBS Sports. I don't think it would be as big a deal as people think.

  • Trolling for first.....

  • Urlacher - he can sit out all he needs so long as he's prepared for the regular season.

Sanzen - Dan or Dane? Do we really care? No. No we don't, so long as he keeps catching the tough balls (*snort*) over the middle.

Refs - replacement refs will definitely have an impact. But I've always held the belief that Jordan emphasized during the Bulls championship runs --- don't put yourself in a position where the refs can decide a game and they can't hurt you.

  • I have a bad feeling about this Urlacher thing. Hopefully it's nothing, but they're staying awfully quiet. I'm not saying they should rush him back, but the man needs to get up to game speed. Time will tell.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Dane have a lot of drops last year? I remember Cutler looking at him all pissed off on more than one occasion. I'm all for the underdog white receiver, but only if they're good.

Refs are going to suck no matter what, I don't care who's officiating as long as the Bears are winning.

  • Urlacher: sitting now isn't a big deal, unless it's a sign that he has to sit. Personally, I don't think an elite athlete goes through an injury like that (not requiring surgery) and isn't ready to play every Sunday. He'll be fine.

Sanzenbacher: living in Columbus, I've watched the guy quite a while. His hands are much better than they looked in some games last year. He has potential. What that potential is, we'll never really know. He'll be on the scout team in pratice, will rarely see any action in games, and will be cut next year. He'll get onto some team with a crappy WR corps, or maybe luck into some team with a good QB, and then maybe we'll see him post some decent numbers for a couple years.
Long story short: he might be pretty good, but we won't see it. The Bears have waaaaaay too much talent ahead of Sanzenbacher--and it feels really good to say that.

Refs: consistency is more important than goodness/badness. I don't care how many holding penalties they call (or miss), as long as they're consistent about it.

Jury Duty: 3 weeks? Holy hell. Good luck and hope your job is the type that pays you while you're out. The last time I had jury duty, I got my regular pay (but I had to subtract off the $12/day I was paid by the county). It was like a 2 week vacation... in a crowded jury-pool room.

  • Not worried about #54 but a little concerned. Lance knows #54 about as well as anyone (on the field) and if he isn't worried ... Gotta admit I'm pulling for Golden Brittan at WR. He's gotten a ton of ink so far. I know what Sanz can do (not much) other than drop passes. Refs=Meh.

  • When I was in college I worked for the juvenile hall part time. One of the more notorious residents there was a 17 year old that had been involved in a pretty newsworthy murder. They actually made a movie about it (Alpha Dog).

At the same time I was working on a summer project with one of my professors. Then he dissapeared for 2 weeks on jury duty. I had no idea what the case was until he game back, and it was this same 17 year old's trial. Very interesting to hear the perspective of the prof compared with my own.

I'm sure Jeff will have a good story to tell when this is all over.

  • Another factor in the replacement ref situation: Instant Replay. If the refs get it wrong, they get a second chance in most situations. The big play yesterday that everyone complained about was holding on Levi Brown (not called). If I'm not mistaken, that is a challengeable play if called. If they start allowing no calls to be reviewed, the job gets even easier.

  • I agree with Jeff that Lach should not be put in harm's way needlessly, especially since there is a substantial risk to his knee and we need to give our subs some on-field playing time.

But I also think that you can't undervalue the preseason or training camp. Yes, to a certain extent its a show for the media and fans. Yes, the team keeps most of its good stuff hidden until the season starts. No, its not a waste.

The players need that time to get into playing condition - and the ones who don't get into condition are more likely to get hurt. And the team needs that time to get comfortable with each other - and the ones who aren't comfortable with each other are the ones that make mistakes that get people injured.

Protect Lach for when it counts. Keep him out of garbage time. But keep him in so that he and the people around him are ready to go.

  • What's the over/under on Caleb Hanie picks on Thursday? How the fuck is that idiot still in the league? He diareah'd all over the bed last year, and here he is listed as the #2 in Denver.

  • 1.

We don't have the most nose-for-the-ball secondary starting for us... I can't see the bench being much better, though you never know.

    "Shoulda-beens"? I say 6.

  • Still shaking my head at the speed the Broncos are coming off the rails. They give away Tebow for nothing and sign Hanie to backup a vastly over-priced vegetable-waiting-to-happen.

    Woot ! Woot!

That sound you just heard was Dane Sanzenbacher making a pretty good case for playing Nose Tackle and he drove his forhead through his dormroom wall.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

    Tim Jennings resembles this remark...

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

    I cannot believe that.

  • That HOF game was like that small snack when youre starving, it's just atease and make syou even hungrier.
In other news it'll be 105 here in Sac this week, luckily I'm going to San Diego for work.

  • With this Davis signing, the Bears may have the best Special Teams unit of all time.

  • For those of you that are outside of the Chicago area and can't always get the game on TV, the Bears sent this out today...

Just thought I'd pass it along.

  • In reply to jrnymn17:

The NFL can go to hell if they think I'm paying to watch preseason. I'll find it online for free somewhere. Thanks though.

  • Did Ratshit do anything last year w/ Detroit? I don't remember seeing him at all when we played those filthy cocksuckers.

  • He was busy hanging his head in shame.

  • In 2012 , a crack third-string unit was sent to Soldier Field by a general manager for kick-offs, punts and general mayhem. These men promptly set NFL records for return TDS and soiled breeches on the opposing team. Today, still waiting for the start of the regular season, they survive on the practice squad and carrying pads for the starters. If you have a problem...if no one else can help...and if you can find them...maybe you can hire...The Emery-Team.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    HAHA nice

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

The "E-Team" dah dah dah - dah dah dah!

  • Urlacher is in serious trouble boys I'm sorry to say. His injury, while not requiring surgery, was bad enough to fuck up a 34 year old. I'm not talking about an knee injury to a 34 year old IT specialist, I'm talking about a knee injury to a 34year old pro football player who needs that lateral speed and agility to stay relevant. I fear it is gone. I know it is not a popular opinion but it's the fucking truth. Urlacher is going to tough it out though without a doubt but his effectiveness will be hamstrung. IT WILL affect our defense greatly.

I'm still calling 11-5 instead of my first prediction of 13-3 and or 12-4 but mainly because the offense and specials are going to light it up.

and Peppers/Melton/Paea/Briggs are going to put hurt shots on motherfuckers this year.

  • In reply to Waffle:

But doesn't getting Lovie to .500 make you feel better about it all, Johnny?

  • Jesus fucking christ... are we still talking about dane fucking sandbanger?!?!?

Fucking seriously!?! Dude, go be a (whateverhequasistudiedtobeincollege) already please... for fuck sake. As many of us have stated here ad nauseum... it's tough to be a receiver who's small, slow, AND has bad hands. Jesus.

For fuck sake, will someone with half a fucking brain go get Plax for vet minimum... oh, we got Rashid back instead? Oh, uhhhh... right. I like scrappy doo as much as the next meatball, but was PLAX available for about the same price?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Hey, Seattle is more interested in TO than they appear to be in Plax, so something must be up.
Of course, TO is probably willing to play for a ham sandwich these days.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

I must be dumb, crazy, or out of the know. I'd say the first two, but I'm hoping for the last one.

    Get the house?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

They have an hour and a half left to accept the offer. Something is going on with their bank, I think, because I took their counter.
Of course, if time elapses, they will now be looking at less than their counter or providing other concessions if they want an extension.

So I sit here fuming and working...and wishing it were Thursday at midnight (Bears-Broncos airs on NFLN).

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    fucking amateurs

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Who knew you had to pay taxes?

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

Knowing what property taxes out here, if THAT is what's holding this up, I'm going to f-cking pissed.
    This is retarded.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Guess what, they DO have a judgement on the property.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Plax? There's a reason no one in the league is looking at him....He sucks an entire bag of dicks. Alshon = young Plax (hopefully). Picking up Plastic Ho is would do nothing but slow Alshon's development. We grabbed Ratshit for specials. I agree on Sanzensack, and apparently so do the Bears. Why else would they sigh Ratshit?

  • I just got offered another paying job to write for Rant Sports.

Give me some advice and what you guys think about it.

  • You need to churn out as much as possible now to learn how to write effectively, on time, and to fit the market, IMHO.
So turning down anyone that wants to pay you per article, hits, etc, would be nuts unless the contract resembles indentured servitude.
    What are they offering?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

You may get screwed in the short term, but think of it as a paid internship.

  • Artoo, if you want some lawyerly advice free of charge, shoot me an email. Jeff has my info.

I tend to agree with the others that the more you write and find your rhythm, the better you will be. I really like your enthusiasm right now and you bring some great ideas to the table, but you're still very raw. Get in all the lumps now while you've got lots of time and very little financial responsibility.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

Same goes for my fatherly advice. Free of charge.

  • yeah, what they said. Doooo eeeeet! Camaaaaaahn....

  • Write at much as you can, and don't plagiarize.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

Trust me, my school destroyed anyone who tried that came close to plagiarizing.

It's not that I don't want to write for everyone it's just, I can't use the same piece on three different sites.

So, if I write a good article for one site, I can't use it on the other site. Thus, what do I do?

  • I suggest drinking heavily

  • The person who contacted me on that site is the Vice President of Rant Sports.

I will take some time to talk to some friends and think it over.

    NewBear, my email is

  • Super if you have the time to churn out more articles, take the cash and keep on, keeping on. If you don't have the time or all the articles start sounding the same, maybe stick to an easier schedule. You don't want to get burned out and keep pounding out the same stuff over and over. If you do, people will stop reading.

  • I'm with MB on the Sanzen-wagon. We gave Sanzen the chance any UFDA would love, a chance for some serious playing time. He started off ok, then mysteriously, lost his hands. We know what we would have in him, and tell me this, what would he offer to our WR corp that Bennett doesn't 10X over? You want a great route runner with decent speed, savvy, and stick-em hands working the slot? WE GOT BENNETT. And if need be, Hester.

Why not develop 6'5 220 Summers? Why not mold Brittan Golden ? Oh, that's right, cuz Drake is still our WR coach for some fucken reason. A guy who can't recognize talent (Lloyd anyone?) and may very well hamper a WRs development. Does anyone even remember the last #1 WR who was actually grown from our system?

  • On Drake... I've been on that WTF bandwaggon for the last 3 years. That asshole and that useless fuck hoke. Can we PLEASE shitcan those two beaters ASAP?!

  • I agree with everything except Lloyd. He stubbed his toe with us and was out for 6 weeks. Even Lovie publicly questioned it in his passive agressive style. I'm not sure why Lloyd was such a weenie when he played for us. Sure blew up when he went to the Donks.

  • Do we need another smurf? Hester, Bennett, Weems, we're good for smurfs.

Agree on this Drake dude - what has he ever done to keep his job? This is the dude that said Shabba couldn't play? They got rid of Lloyd because of injuries, I get that, but releasing ballers cos they "don't fit" Mike Martz's freaky free-style? Somebody just forgot to fire this dude, I mean who is he?

  • On the refs...I watched the entire HOF game (like an addict licking up the white crumbs from a dollar bill), and it was a remarkably "clean" game. Or was it, (DAH DAH DUM)

No, it WASN"T a clean game. What I think happened is that the new refs were reluctant to call many penalties. As in any job, you don't come in audaciously making bold/questionable moves/calls.

Most kinda play it conservatively at first, then when they feel comfortable, make more intricate judgments. So my gut tells me that with new refs will come less penalties, and less of those 10 minute meeting where the refs gather on the field and dust off article 10, subsection A while Mike Perira tries to explain to the fans WTF is going on.

Holding penalties might be down more (which might be good for us), and maybe even roughing or spearing or all those questionable "defenseless" player calls (hopefully) unless it's blatant. The refs are simply going to worry about more basic issues initially.

    That's my theory at least.

  • On a ref sidenote, the first woman ref might become a reality, but would NOW want the first glass-ceiling breaker to be a scab? I'm not sure if that would make a good role model for young women, "One day, I want to be just like her, be a scab in a male dominated profession..."

  • as long as she has huge jugs and a fit arse....

  • Also, does anyone subscribe to Xfinity? I checked out their site, and am even more confused. So, they provide the NFLNetwork reruns of certain games, and gameday rewind, (redzone extra) and it's only online, and one can choose only the NFL without having to pay for ESPN or the MLB package? Maybe next time I check out their site I'll put down my beer and take notes.

And on that note, is PS3 gonna offer that $50 package again for any NFL game? I know some of you jibrones ordered that last year, so I want to know if it was worth it.

  • I did the whole season for $300 or whatever it was... but they charge per quarter, so if we tank (which will never happen) at any point all you're paying for is 4 games at a time.

Totally worth it. Besides opening weekend, the quality was perfect.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

They gotta drop the price this year... With DTV being $200.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

ah, I didn't realize the PS3 Package was $50 per quarter (which would add up to $200 for the whole season, unless I'm missing something?)

Did you already order it again MB? The streaming was solid and in HD?

  • Not yet but I will $. I'm going to wait till I get my pad and move out of the marital hell ho... I mean, house. I will though.

Yeah, totally solid 100% (cept for opening weekend where the system got overloaded and took a huge shit. You think they might thinking about accounting for that, but it is DTV we're talking about here)

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The only load balancing they know how to do is in their pants.

That being said, I might give them another shot at the new abode....maybe.
I have to figure out my internet situation first - since that pays the bills, unless I just hook my Smartphone up to my monitor...wait, I -could- do that.
Probably a real bitch to do Visio on Android though.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

It's called "tethering" my man. Check out FoxFi on the android market; it's free and allows you to tether your computer to your Android 4G/3G connection. Fuck paying Verizon for the "ability" to tether....

  • In reply to Bender McLugh:

    Screw that slow noise...

Pick your living quarters nearest the highest quality open wifi connection.

    How neighborly.

  • In reply to Bender McLugh:

Sprint 4G coverage out where my residence will be is slim to zero. Hell, I'm lucky to stay in-network. Otherwise, I think you'd be dead on.
No, I'm going to need a hardwire internet connection for what I do.

  • damn, sucks.

    Heart attack?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Haven't heard official announcement, but indications point to drugs. Apparently Reid's son was fighting an addiction to crystal meth for quite a while.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

Ahhhhh.... right. I had forgotten about that NB. Sad.

Btw, are you going to come out to the event/game on the 16th? I'd like to meet you.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Most likely yes on the event. I have no idea on the game... probably a cash question. But I have never been to a live football game, so going to a Packers game, with a large group, in the cold weather... it would be a pretty epic first time.

I'd enjoy meeting you as well. It has been a real pleasure to meet everyone on the blog so far. The draft party was a blast.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    That sounded so gay.

  • ha! my thoughts exactly.

"Btw, are you going to come out to the event/game on the 16th? I'd like to guide your penis into my mouth...uh er I mean meet you."

  • I just threw up in my beak!

  • Decent team.....on paper.

  • Nice squadron!

Irish - provide me your email address, or send me one to

DYL set it up so that it requires official invite.

  • Irish, that is a ridiculous roster - how the hell did you pull that off? Are you in a league of 1???

  • Ah, okay yeah, it was a 6 man league. With no Bears fans, always a plus.

  • Well, you still have a tremendous squad, but it was either a small league or you found them on the playground...I would poop myself with that roster.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

you sir, are a pimp. A P-I-M-P... in willie gault's clothing.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

MB - I ain't messin' kid! Listen up, brougham.

You have been MIA for all league's fantasy that I can recall. In this economy, you can't afford NOT to play in this one.

By the way, MBHAP clearly stated that if you ever got into a fantasy league he's in, he would.. I'm not sure the terminology, but if I'm not mistaken - I believe it referenced a "haji" of sorts.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

hahahahaha... never been my thing... dog.

Just not into that shit. Never put money into pools, pick ums, fantasy leagues... I don't ever even bet when I go to vegas (it's ALL about the clubs and pools for me yo)... I've never even put money into a slot machine.

For whatever reason, I just couldn't give a smaller fuck if I was a midget my maings.

Sorry. Tell you what. You get a PS3 and come play with us a couple nights and I'll join.

Blood in... blood out... mah niggah (not used in a racist way in any way, shape, or form).

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I've been so close to purchasing the old MW3... but my problem has always been the requirement of the does-not-come-with-the-system headset.

Ah, for fuck's sake PS3 - throw me a friggin' bone and pack a POS headset in the damn box!

So my $60 purchase turns into a "should I buy super 8.1 HD headset for $100 or just keep playing Halo 3 on my xbox"?

So, yeah, if anyone wants some Halo action, I'll fucking kills you.

But... Madden 13 comes out 'round the berfday, so I'm getting that puppy. For the PS3. Maybe then I'll have the headsets.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

jesus... ask the fucking wife to hooks you up maings.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Dude, seriously? Week one. The Bears over the Colts whatever-the-spread doesn't get you hot? Is there a scenario in the Quantum universe where we don't split them apart, eat, digest and excrete them out? In fact, a wide-margin shutout is most definitely on the cards.

Welcome to the big boys league Mr. Luck.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

    Auction leagues eat dick.

  • hahahahahaha...

Sorry willie, I just had to fucking laugh at that delivery.

I picture the coach as a normal, frat-boy kinda looking guy who's got a thick Chicagoan accent and just fired that statement off outta the side of his mouth without even looking up from his paper.

I'm probably way over-romanticizing it, but classic nonetheless.

  • You wrong, man.

    You wrong.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

Willie, am I in that one???

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    Yes, siree...

  • So, the word on the internets is we have a depth chart for all to look at, pontificate, over analyze, and other goofy words I have yet to come up with...

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

The only thing that surprised me is that Hardin is the second string safety for Conte

They are really high on that kid.

  • Evan Rodriguez is the 4th string TE? That's surprising, I figured maybe 3rd behind Spaeth, but 4th is unexpected.

Also interesting is that Hester is a starting WR in front of Jeffery, but I'm betting that's more to keep Hester happy than reflect actual play calling.

James Brown is now our 4th tackle, and good for him. He won't beat out CW this year, but if he can stick around for a year he has a great shot at becoming the swing tackle in 2013.

Spencer and Lance Louis starting at guard, not unexpected. Interesting that Edwin Williams is listed as backup center and nowhere else - would be curious to see how good he is in that spot.

Armando Allen still 4th behind Bell at running back. That's got to be a battle though.

On D, have to wonder if Chauncey Davis makes the team as our 5th DE (would we carry that many?). Anyone know how he compares to Wootton?

Toeiana listed as a starting NT along with Paea. Question is whether either one will get a clear win to start (and whether I'll ever remember how to spell those names).

Surprised to see DJ Moore as a fourth string CB (behind 6th and 7th round picks). If McCoy has chops as a returner, they might keep him. If Frey beats out Moore (and can justify being CB #6), or even if not and they only keep 5 CBs... DJ could be gone.

Its possible that the biggest camp battle nobody hears about will be Dane vs. Davis vs. DJ vs. Frey on special teams. Whichever one is the best will be the 6th WR or CB.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

I really think Evan is something that the Bears are keeping under wraps.

Evan will be our starting F tight end. Unless Kyle Adams steps up.

  • I tend to agree with the depth chart. But any team that does its homework will see him catching a lot of balls in camp. I think its more likely that he's a rookie and the team wants him to succeed, so he looks good in camp. But they might see him as a development project, more for 2013, and play him sparingly this year.

But most likely of all is that its way too early to tell since he's a rookie. Everyone else's performance will dictate what happens.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

Is the DJ listing due to the fact he's the nickel and nothing else? He's too short to play CB. Last I read he was still the starter at nickel.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

I think you have to be right's just a vagary of the depth chart.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

E-rod could end up as our Fullback on the roster, he'll be in there from day one.

Big Toe is surely history at this point?

I'll eat nematodes if they cut DJ Moore.

Interesting about Edwin - although it is a good idea to have a backup center who's not playing somewhere else on the line. He's a solid swing guard even if he's not listed there.

We could have worse backups at tackle than JB and CW. I think our line will be okay this year. Scoring points and moving the ball will not be a problem.

  • Big Toe history? wtf? Dude, he's in the main rotation.

DJ Moore is a ball hound. He ain't goin nowhere.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

I had forgotted that Clutts was the backup long snapper... maybe it will be enough to keep him on the team (does anyone think he'd make it to the practice squad - I don't)?

    Mannelly is getting up there.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

Seems I forgotted how two spel tooo!

  • In reply to SC Dave:

I have a feeling Clutts is not making this team.

  • Did you guys see this last night:

Man, that dude is super human. So ridiculous. I wonder what he'd run if he actually ran all the way through the line instead of slowing up and showboatings 2-5 yards out.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Ridiculous is right. Damn. Wish I hadn't missed that. Dude is unreal. What can you say?

Been busy lately mang. Catch you on the battlefield soon.

  • why in THEE fuck would they pick the dolphins?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Word on the streets is that every other team in the league denied them, including the beloved.

  • hee hee

Coach... how the fuck is the engagement going my man? Still alive I see.... that's a god sign... I think.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

One in two Coach. One in two my man. Red ball, black ball. I hope she's not a bitch. remember, when the pussy mist clears ... all that's left is rank fish odor.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I'm not engaged. The lady is in the process if moving in, or she was until she had an appendectimy this weekend. I have a 3 year rule. Year 1 is down the hatch, if I can stand living with her for the next 2 then I'll buy her a rock and start pumping her full of mini-Ditka's.

  • good man.... try before you buy my maings.

Just remember, once the rock goes on the BJ pace slows dramatically. Once the mini-ditkas pop out say buh bye to great, regular, dangerous sex... or any regularly for that matter.

Chicks kinda suck... you know, besides the vagina and boobs thing.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • Shea McClellin limps off after red zone play

  • puss

  • Shady, you MUST get this tattooed on, or near, your ass:

  • McClellin puts his helmet back on and has returned to practice

  • good. puss.

  • Cutler on Sanzenbacher, ``You watch the film on Dane and you have to keep him, from a quarterback’s perspective.''

  • whatever man. dude SUCKED last year.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Yes he did. He was tied with that idiot Roy with 7 drops.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Who cares what we think???? Cutty likes him. Good enough for me.

  • Still waiting for Tice, Lovie, Cutler, Emery or any other coach or team captain to publicly state "I know he's still on the roster, but frankly I don't think he's a good football player." Or "If we keep this guy on the roster I'm seriously concerned for my job security." Or my personal favorite: "He's a decent football player, but I genuinely don't like him as a person."

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

    NBIT, loved the last one....hah!

  • Which film is that then Jay? Not fkn last year's that's for sure.

  • I think Sanzenflopper shines Cutler's shoes, and does a real nice job. Jay doesn't want to lose that. Now go get your shine box

  • Damn.. you want to know how cold and almost true that sounds.

  • Jay Glazer ‏@JayGlazer
He's baaaaaack! Terrell Owens has agreed to a one year deal with the Seahawks. Hasn't signed it yet but agreed to terms

  • ha, watch him fucking tear it up. he's going to play like a teenager this year. He knows the gravy train is gone soon. he will be playing for another 1 year contract in 2013.

  • In reply to Waffle:

  • In reply to Bender McLugh:

  • damn, both!?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

a la Wendell Davis for the Bears. Sadly it is over for this young man.

  • Starting today if any new articles reference Dom DeFuckingCicco as a possible replacement for Urlacher I will pee in a supersoaker squirtgun, drive down to Bourbonais and will shoot it into whoever's mouth those fucking words came out of.

  • In reply to Waffle:

    hee hee

  • In reply to Waffle:

If knee issues force the Bears to limit Brian Urlacher's playing time, Dom DeCicco, 2nd year man out of Pittsburgh, is his likely replacement.

Just for you, Johnny. Thing is, that's where we are.

Fortunately, it seems we may be able to score points.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

Urlacher was just talking about Roach being able to play all three positions, which would probably put him ahead of DeCicco who likely barely knows his own. Maybe Costanzo would get thrown in opposite Briggs?

  • Costanzo??? That is why we have Geno Hayes. He is probably better than Roach. Irish....Crack...stop.

  • In reply to Waffle:

The Dom-inator is the real deal, like Evander

  • In reply to Waffle:

Yeah, it looks like Hayes is going in. I wonder how that defense will look on Thursday with no Brian in there ....

  • freakin awesome:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The B&W photos of musicians are great. George Jones, Charlie Daniels, Johnny Paycheck and Merle Haggard all look like they're hammered. The photos of Lonnie Brooks and Lefty Diz are awesome.

  • Scoop (Artoo) -

Write an article for me to read about replacement refs (refplacements? replacerees?)

A guy at work told me they're trying to LOWER the ref's salary and kill the pensions...

  • Bears interested in Plaxico?

    Say it ain't so.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

    You dirty bastard.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    the Plastic Ho RR!

Well done my man, well done.

  • Attention, NFL Officials: "Those who do not learn from history...."

Don't be a Lemming. The MLB Umpires followed their leader over the cliff and a bunch of them never worked another game.

Mike Bires of the Beaver County Times writes that Steelers first-round pick G David DeCastro “hasn’t exactly been a camp sensation.”

While Bires admits that it “might be a reach to say he’s struggling,” DeCastro seems to be having some issues related to the physicality of the NFL. He’s yet to pass Ramon Foster on the depth, which isn’t exactly a sign of progress, considering that the Steelers drafted him to be an impact player. NFL scouts used words like “nasty” and mentioned that he had “violent hands,” which seemed to suggest that he was going to be a physical force in the league, but I guess those aspects can be overblown.

  • In reply to Big Mike:

Or it could be that it's just the second week of camp? Yes? Maybe? Yes?

  • In reply to Big Mike:

However, Mike Adams, also drafted by the Steelers, apparently is good enough to start at LT.

  • There was never a question that Mike Adams could look like a first rate LT in camp. His issues were all character concerns as far as I remember. How would folks feel right now if we had gotten Blackmon in the first round?

I wish Adams the best and he might play really well for the Steelers. You can never tell if he would stay out of trouble in a different city, but if he is problem free for 3 years I agree that we should have picked him.

Unless of course McLellin turns out to be a sack machine.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

Starting at Tackle for the Steelers is not a sign of much. The Steelers, recently, were looking at a blocking dummy to start at LT.

  • Aww shucks goober, that's sweet. For a super athlete the dude is a fucking goofball.

Oh, and I could't give a smaller fuck is I was a midget:

  • Just pulled the first pick in my work fantasy league. Who do i take? Standard snake draft, none of that auction crap, pretty much your average scoring, except there is a full pt per reception, which i think is to high. The consensus pick is Arian Foster, but I have a bad feeling about that cat for some reason.

  • 'Cause he's a vegan.

  • #1 pick on my board was Shady McCoy. If you want to go a little safer, Ray Rice. Foster MIGHT have more upside, but also gets dinged up (not to mention Tate vulture). MJD is in a contract dispute. Peterson is coming off an injury. Chris Johnson's a wild-card.

  • Leaning towards McCoy, then if i'm lucky on the way back, it's a 10 team league, i'll get Cutler and Marshall. Championship, bitches!

  • Forte all the way. You won't be sorry.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    where have you been maings?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Watching the Olympics?

    No no, that's lame.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I would take Matt. But you already know that.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Bush should be good for about 10 TDs though, Matt's numbers might go down this year, and when you only had three rushing TDs last year .... I fancy a few of these young backups to break out like Jamaal Charles did - anyone fancy anyone in particular - Leshoure ? Is it Spiller's year or will Fred bang them out ?

  • Spiller is one of those guys, a permanent 2nd string back like Chester Taylor. I don't see him leading the Bills scoring.

  • Tate. Tate. Tate. Tate. Tate.

  • Ray Rice.

Congrats on not getting pick 9. Like I did.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

Damn it.. Meant to reply to 'stache.

    Amateur move.

  • Uuuummmm... wow:

    For canada.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Oh my! Thanks MB. My Beloved Bride and I have been apart most of the summer so I'm getting a little "anxious". We've got a house in SE B.C. and she likes to spend most of the summer there. I'm usually working a lot in the summer. Oh well.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

hope that helps canada... if you don't have a laptop, a printer will work. Ha!

  • Due to lack of real football news, I provide you all with my next license plate:

  • Oh god, I'm crying right now... shady, this is SO for you:

sorry couldn't help this one. And yes, I've been up since 5 working so I'm done, and board, thanks for asking.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

That was funny. When I'm working night shift and it's 3-4 AM, it's Youtube to the rescue.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Some good shit in there.

  • Tomorrow night is Kill Hanie night.

I will become the #1 Dinner Jocker if he face plants Hanie.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I don't want him to get hurt hurt but I sure as hell would like to see him play so fucking bad that he gets cut and be professionally embarassed. After what he and Martz did to us he should not be allowed to collect game checks to play football. fucking asshole Hanie.

Hello kids. I've been following this site for some time now, stalking these posts with admiration (no, I do not want to touch your privates). So, I figured I would enter your little world and join in on the great conversation that takes place here.

So yeah, not much to add to the thread. Just thought I'd say hi. So...hi. Go Bears.

  • fb_avatar

Wow, not that you all know my real name. Maybe I shouldn't have signed in through Facebook. How in the hell do I get a screenname?

  • In reply to Jason Graciana:

Hi Jason Garcia... can you also please supply us with your adress, SS number and a single form of government issued ID.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Whoops, graciana.

yes, you all look the same to me... I must be racist.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Ahhhhh, that's better. Yeah, It's Graciana, not Garcia. Hispanic, Italian, whatever. It's all good. I'm homeless, my social security number is 4. I'll see if I can find an ID.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

you all look the same to me
