Shea McClellin Joins the Bears

Does Shea McClellin fit the Lovie Smith's defense? I'm not sure. But selecting him with the 19th pick in last night's first round sends a clear message to those who hadn't yet heard it: Phil Emery is in charge.

  • Shea McClellins face is too small for his head.

  • oh, and I hope we trade up for a early 2nd round OT.

  • oh, and I want to hear about the barfight that almost was.

  • Me too. Sounds like fun.

  • It does irritate me that Reiff was there and was passed. i just don't feel confident in Martin or Adams, especially if it means trading away other picks. Cordy glenn grades out as a guard but can he play tackle in the NFL? I wouldn't trade up for Martin or Adams but I would not hesitate to take them at 50.

  • Classic. Added to the Blog Archive. Make it four point yellow, one point red, bury it in a time capsule.

  • New nickname: Highlander. There can only be one.

  • In reply to Shady:

Lets hope he doesn't play like #2.

  • In reply to Shady:

    Shady..I like "Braveheart"

  • In reply to lobotobear:

already wearing Burnt Orange and Navy Blue..well sort of:

  • Anybody hear something about a concussion history with this dude?

  • In reply to JerseyBear:

  • In reply to lobotobear:

  • In reply to JerseyBear:

Yup, he's gonna create quite a few of them in the NFCN.

    Have we signed Osi yet?

  • to jerseybear:

Pats checking this kid out..interesting side note

  • In reply to lobotobear:

Yea I guess it's all BS sort of...

  • know who he reminds me of... Clutts.

Big ass farm boy that can play. I jst hope this kid turns out to be the next Jarred Allen and coples and mercilus bust out. Not that I hope they fail, but I really want Emery not to be Angelo reduxx

  • What really matters, MB, is that Shea does not bust out for us. What the other guys do it irrelevant.

  • ghost threading form the previous thread:

MB..not a surprise to him..just the rest of us..E-Train...watched this kid since he was with the Cheifs...

E-TRAIN...he is going to pick whats best for the TEAM not the rest of us so called prognostication's...

I think he's also saying to the rest of the media FUCK YOU!!! I am the GM and you fuck's sit on the sideline's and write about..there are those who play in the game and those who sit in the stands.

  • Jeff, I know it was a 3 hr open bar and all... but one shitty, grainy, dark, fuzzy phone cam pic? One?

    Hook us up maings.

  • It was pretty crowded Mb and busy.

I would have taken some but I used up my battery with twitter the whole night.

  • does your fiancé know about this girl you are tweeting with Erik?

How could you guys let some fucking outsider chick win those tickets btw. Fucking shameful.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Are you messing with me or are you serious?

Only five or six people from the blog showed up. It wasnt like the tickets were just for us.

My fiance does know but its not like I am trying to get with that lady she follows me on twitter and I invited as many people as I could to tje party.

  • I was just fucking with you Erik. Common maings.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Asshole. You always get me.

  • hee hee

  • She is a nice lady..........more like one of the guys! Bad ass "sista" from the southside. We bonded! LOL

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

She yelled too much. Murph. Nice personto to everyone.

Dang Mb, I am cheating on fiance already because I talk to different girls on twitter?

  • She was a LOUD girl. She scared me when she said she would cancel her cab and I could drive her home..LOL

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Loud, but a nice gal to have at the party. And the only one whose voice easily carried over the crowd noise. She'd make a good QB in that respect.

  • You're a nice boy Artoo, give up the goods on the fight-that-wasn't. You're amongst friends here, I'll close the door ...

(the blog pulls up chairs and encircles Artoo, extinguishing cigarettes and looking at him expectantly in a crowded hush. Waffle coughs.)

  • I like the pick. I figure that Emery is thinking the way to win this year is by creating as much pressure up front on Rodgers and Stafford. He went out and got a good natural pass rusher. I think 2nd round he is goin to draft a CB to also help cover GB, and Det WR.

  • Fresno, i don't think we are going CB though because we brought in 2 experienced CB's in FA.

  • 2 one year CB's though. If Jenkins is there why not grab him? He could be Peanuts heir.

  • In reply to JAB1:

Casey Heyward in the 3rd. If he's there, he's a solid pickup.

  • In reply to JAB1:

    because I said so damnit

  • But no serious talent, neither of those guys is Peanut. Are there any good DTs left? I hope we get Molk in the 4th, Stephen Hill is still there. Bolster the line so the CBs don't matter - I want a bigass DT next.

    4. Jerel Worthy, Michigan State, 6-2, 308. Worthy is a big, physical player who can get off the snap and penetrate the gap. He is stout at the point and has a good presence on the field. He is athletic and flexible. He left school early and still is developing. If he gets with the right coach in the right system, he can really take off. Worthy was penalized quite a bit for undisciplined play.

    5. Kendall Reyes, Connecticut, 6-4, 299. Reyes is a safe pick who can play multiple positions and fit in multiple schemes, including the under tackle in a four-man front. He can rush the passer and push the pocket with power. He is a strong run defender. He moves well for his size and has surprising athleticism. He doesn't always play as hard as he could, and his pad level sometimes gets high.

    6. Devon Still, Penn State, 6-5, 303. The son of former NFL player Art Still is a gifted lineman. Still is strong and athletic, and he can penetrate. He is very explosive off the ball, but his motor does not always run high. He was inconsistent in college. He can dominate at times, and he often stepped up against better competition. He would fit in a 3-4 as an end as well. He has played for four years and is NFL-ready.

    7. Alameda Ta'amu, Washington, 6-2, 348. A gigantic space eater, Ta'amu is an ideal nose tackle candidate. He flashes great power and can be very disruptive. He has some pass-rushing ability for his size, and he gets his pads low. He can dominate one-on-one and hang in versus double teams. He was the talk of Senior Bowl practices. Ta'amu has been an inconsistent player who does not always give full effort. His conditioning has been problematic. He also has some medical issues that could cause him to fall in the draft.

    8. Brandon Thompson, Clemson, 6-2, 314. This is a powerful nose tackle prospect who will clog the middle of the field. He isn't flashy and doesn't make a lot of big plays, but he is solid and doesn't make many mistakes. Pass rushing is not his thing. He is best as a running-down player.

    9. Billy Winn, Boise State, 6-4, 294. He has the ability to play three technique, nose tackle or five technique in a 3-4. Winn has not made a lot of plays, but he is explosive and quick and could develop as a pass rusher. He is well-built and has strength and athleticism. He needs to play with more consistent effort.

    10. Derek Wolfe, Cincinnati, 6-5, 295. This is a productive player who finds ways to be disruptive. Wolfe has a feel for the game but is not a premier athlete. Some consider him an overachiever. He runs well and plays with intensity. He plays with power in the running game. He uses his long arms to create separation. His best fit could be as a 3-4 end.

    11. Mike Martin, Michigan, 6-1, 306. A high-effort player who wears down blockers, Martin is not the most gifted athletically. He doesn't have the kind of quickness the best interior pass rushers have, but his relentlessness might make up for it. He is powerful and has been a consistent player. He is durable and reliable. Some see him as a two-down player only.

    17. J.R. Sweezy, North Carolina State, 6-5, 298. His workout showed he might have more athleticism and potential than some scouts originally gave him credit for. Sweezy is a tough guy who plays to the whistle on every snap. He has some size and length and could play end in a 3-4. He could develop into a backup who is used at multiple positions.

    21. Tydreke Powell, North Carolina, 6-2, 311. He can get some interior rush going with quickness and suddenness. Powell has decent size, but he isn't very stout, in part because he sometimes plays high. He is an energetic player.

    22. Marcus Fortson, Miami, 6-1, 301. He is an athletic tackle with suddenness to rush the passer and was one of the country's highest-ranked players coming out of high school, but he was not much of a producer in college. A serious knee injury limited him to three games last season, and he decided to leave school early. Fortson plays tall and sometimes gets blown off the line.

  • He is figuring out the way to beat are rivals. Both GB and Det are pass happy teams. DE and CB in the first two seem like the right direction

  • fb_avatar

    I agree.
The important thing is not the pick per se, but what it says about Emery.
And I really, really like what he had to say last night.

    PS: McClellin 6 ft 3 in, 260 lb; Clay Matthews 6 ft 3 in, 255 lb. Jason Babin 6 ft 3 and 260 lb.Cameron Wake 6 ft 3 in, 250 lb. Tamba Hali 6 ft 3, 275 lb.
Are you kidding me? Size is not a problem.
Why does the fact that he is a 4 down, versatile player become a defect ? Just because he's not the typical Lovie lineman?
Well... MAKE IT WORK OR GET LOST !!!

    Mihai (Romania)

  • In reply to Barb Mar:

The only problem with that is 3 out of those 4 are linebackers in a 3-4. Babin is the only one who plays in a 4-3. He needs to add weight. He will not be a 4 down player at 260 pounds unless it's at linebacker.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to JAB1:

Cameron Wake instead is better as a DE than OLB. Take Clay Matthews. He can dominate in any position on the line, in every stance you want. Terrell Suggs is again 6 ft 3 in, 260 lb and he is really a DE.

These guys are so good that they can play stellar football with or without their hand on the ground.

It's really up to the coaches. If they want his to become a more standard DE he will put on some weight and play only DE. If they want to move him around than he can grow at a slower pace.
Emery shows up tonight and says: "Bear Nation... I just got Wake, or Matthews, or Hali, or Babin, or Suggs.". And what the people are like " Fuck that... he's small" ?

    Mihai (Romania)

  • MB, apparently Jeff needed his honor defended? And some guys stepped up to the plate. Thats what New Bear wrote. I was gone by the time that started. When you are the oldest one of the bunch, you are usually heading to bed by the time the shit starts flying!

  • Emery has done what HE's wanted to. So far I see positive "action" from our GM. I'll be shocked if you EVER hear him say "we're all set". Gents, I think we have a GM who will take "the works never finished" approach. For that, I'm ecstatic.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

    agreed mange

  • This pick is a wait and see. Feels like a reach... But I have nothing to base Emery's history on so this is a wait and see...

And I want pics of the party and a break down of the bar fight, or at least near bar fight

  • In reply to Maxx:

ummm, where is theeee fuck have you been?

  • In reply to Maxx:

His previous draft involvement is there on the web with a few clicks of the mouse, he's drafted (or been involved with) a lot of very good solid players, and frequently.

Camera video footage of the handbag-session please.

  • Thanks Murph. Defended from whom? Did fucking Max show up?

Trac, to answer your post above and the one about lovie... I believe he's taking the Ted Thompson approach. Filling holes now, but with safe picks also for the future. I think some of his picks will be head scratchers for us fans without inside knowledge now... but in a year or two when all of his moves come together to make this a legacy/dynasty team we'll all go, 'ooooooh! Thaaaaaat's what he was setting up!"

At least, that is what I am hoping he's doing.

  • I agree MB. Thompson had me scratching my head when he picked Matthews. Guess that worked out ok. Who knows. The draft is a crap shoot anyways. Hopefully within the next year or two we're looking back and saying " holy shit, I can't believe Mcclellen lasted to pick 19".

  • The whole damn fight started over a cereal box. Kid you not.

First it was posse then they questioned Jeff's raffle ticket choice. They thought it was rigged.

  • I can see it. especially if it was Lucky Charms. They're magically delicious.

  • In reply to JAB1:

Wheaties. From 1994the with MJ on them.

  • Cool, but not worth fighting over. Personally I wouldn't want to taste 18 year old Wheaties anyways.

  • I pitty the fool that doesnt eat a healthy breakfast!

  • Was it the local crowd? Next year i'll grab a nap so I can stay out later and help you young guys out!!! LMFAO

  • Packers looking at Colt McCoy. They'll be needing him.

  • Now boyz...It wasn't this kind of a Bar fight was it?:

  • who guys WHO started the fight? Was it someone in our group, or just randoms?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Id say no way in our group. I'm betting the locals

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I think it may have been the trix rabbit. Silly rabbit will never learn that Trix are for kids.

  • In reply to JAB1:

    haha 2 for 2, nice.

  • In reply to JAB1:

    I'd believe it.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

HAHAHAHAHA.... NB, that was so un-PC, and so not like you.

  • In reply to JAB1:

    And the dunk

  • In reply to MB30SD:

no was this kind of a fight..maybe..

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Random guys. Posse knows how it went down best

  • Maybe they didnt like our rousing rendition of Bear Down that we all sang as we waited for the pick to come down!

  • I think is was a Wheaties box

  • o.k. I just can't help myself's MB at night playing against you boyz

  • In reply to lobotobear:

    I'm speechles!

  • In reply to lobotobear:

    like my fro?

  • fb_avatar

So, upon further review, I take back my "WTF" and "how did Sketchy get inside Emery's head", comments. Big country needs to get a bit bigger and tighten himself up. Nose for the ball, good not great speed, versatile, high football IQ. Emery knows what he's getting in this kid and decided he was our guy. So there. Now on to round 2.

Does anyone else think we need another DT somewhere in there? Are we really looking BPA, or is it more like BPA on defense. Because there is no way that Big Country graded out higher than DeCastro.

There are going to be some very good WR's on the board at 50.

  • In reply to Big Mike:

I think this pick may have been as much about dennying GB a shot at another Clay Matheys or just a quality player in a position they needed to shore up. So if thats indeed the case then I say good job Phil.

  • If it was that case I say brilliant!

  • I hope not Sac. Once you start drafting to screw another team over drafting for your own needs is when our team will officaially be screwed.

  • In reply to JAB1:

I really think they drafted this guy *because they think he will be awesome*. And I'm certainly willing to give the kid a chance.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Big Mike:

I don't. We have 3 starters + Idonije + Peppers on rush downs if they manage to get something out of Wooton. I mean Shaun Rodgers was there and he just got signed by the Giants. I'd go for a rookie or a waived released guy for depth. I'd rather draft another DE.

    Mihai (Romania)

  • In reply to Barb Mar:

BarbMar...I think this pic was to to put notice to WooT-Woot and Izzy...either put up or get out.....

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to lobotobear:

That's why I'm saying that I'd rather draft another DE than a DT. A solid depth DT you can always find. We need pass rushers.
The dream is Carter ex Patriot if he gets healthy and they don't sign him again. Try stopping this rushing line McClellin--Peppers-Melton-Carter. Bye, bye.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to lobotobear:

Yeah that guy wooten needs to produce or be gone. Taking up space. Big Country is going to light a fire under his ass. Wooten will either get moving, or get burnt.

He hasn't played enough to show anything. Maybe he'll live up to some shadow of the promise. He didn't play much his rookie year. There was talk that he was starting to show signs of being fully recovered from the injury he had in college. Then he gets blown up on the first play of the first preseason game this year.

So he's pretty much been a redshirt for the last 2 years. Time to step up.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Barb Mar:

Makes no sense to draft another DE. Bears like to rotate DTs they typically have 4 or 5. They've got 3 now.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to Big Mike:

If Wooton doesn't make the leap they only have 2 DE + Idonije. They like to rotate the DE too. I want more rest for Pepper non for Paea. Put Idonije on the DT rotation. Get another DE in case Wooton doesn't bring it.

I'd sign Carter not ad a DE in the draft. If not draft one.

  • In reply to Barb Mar:

Barb Mar..that's what I think blogfader was getting at with Osi;;;LETS GET IT NOW!!!

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to lobotobear:

At this point Osi would be a bad thing... right ? Usi starts talking trash if the rookie gets more snaps than him.

  • In reply to Barb Mar:

Andre fucking Branch. Watch the guys tape. Slot him in beside Lac and watch him go. Try and get Osi with our third and Left Tackle becomes almost irrelevant this season. The Pats got Jones and Hightower though. Nice work for the first round.

  • I hope Posse got home okay because he hasnt said anything on here yet

  • He wasnt saying much yesterday before the party. He traveled with his entourage, so I guess between the three of them he would make it home o.k.

  • as somebody said two threads ago;

there are worse things than being a redheaded Irish kid that kicks ass in Chicago.

  • In reply to gpldan:

  • In reply to gpldan:

Hilarious. GP where were you last night?

  • If Clay Matthews can make Lance Louis his bitch, then I guess Shamus can make Brian Bulaga his.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    tee hee hee

  • I'll let MBP and Artoo tell the story as I left when MBP was allowed back in the bar (anything happen after that?).

Here are my Round 2 top 27 (we pick 18th). This what's left of my big board from a few threads back with some modifications. I will likely not chime in again until the draft is over.

    1. Janoris Jenkins (CB)
    2. Jerel Worthy (DT)
    3. Cordy Glenn (G/OT)
    4. Stephen Hill (WR)
    5. Devon Still (DT)
    6. Peter Konz (C)
    7. Cam Johnson (DE)
    8. Vinny Curry (DE)
    9. Amini Silatolu (G)
    10. Kelechi Osemele (G)
    11. Rueben Randle (WR)
    12. Zach Brown (OLB)
    13. Mike Adams (OT)
    14. Courtney Upshaw (DE/OLB)
    15. Josh Chapman (DT)
    16. Dwayne Allen (TE)
    17. Alameda Ta’amu (DT)
    18. Jonathan Martin (OT)
    19. Malik Jackson (DE)
    20. Lavonte David (OLB)
    21. Alshon Jeffery (WR)
    22. Jared Crick (DE)
    23. Brandon Thompson (DT)
    24. Demario Davis (OLB)
    25. Mohamed Sanu (WR)
    26. Ronnell Lewis (OLB)
    27. Coby Fleener (TE)

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

NBIT..I thinking #4 & #13 and the dark horse #6.....but then again look at last night....

I was rooting for "Ming the Merciless"

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

Upshaw is that bad to you? I would love to get this guy

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

If J Jenkins falls to us, how can you not take him. Even if he gets in trouble as a pro, he'd be worth a go, he's just that good.

  • fb_avatar
    In reply to NewBearInTown:

Well, after last night.. who knows. But if Stephen Hill is there, how can you not take that guy? Or Jonathan Martin... Upshaw.. we just drafted the white version of that guy.

  • In reply to Big Mike:

I just don't know about Stephen Hill. Not enough tape on him. He was a combine freak which can be very misleading. I think I take Alshon or try to get Brian Quick in the 3rd. Martin would be of excellent value if he's there at 50.

  • In reply to JAB1:

I'm with you Jab. We can get a quality WR in the 4rth this year. I want 6'5 4.38 Streeter in that round as a project.

I still hold to the theory that Bears will draft: DE/LB/CBorDT in the first 3 rounds, and thus far it's going as planned.

I also think we should trade our 3rd and 5th to move up and get another 2nd rounder. The quality really starts to fall off by the beginning of the 3rd, and with all those extra picks awarded to teams in the 4rth and later, our 5-7 picks are going to be put back a few slots.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

The more stories the better NBIT, chime in.

I'd strike off Adams and Janoris for red flags. Devon Still for no heart. Sanu for being an NFL bust, and I'd have Andre Branch in there pretty high. Osemele is interesting but not in the second. Please let it be Branch.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

Also, here's the order of Round 2, and who I project going where (this will no doubt be wrong due to trades, but I still think these PLAYERS will be drafted before us, regardless of team).

    Round 2

    1. Rams. WR Randle (Hill?)
    2. Colts. TE Fleener
    3. Ravens. CB Jenkins
    4. Broncos. DT Reyes (WR?)
    5. Browns. WR Hill
    6. Jags. DE Curry
    7. Rams. OT/G Glenn
    8. Panthers. DT Worthy
    9. Bills. OT Martin
    10. Fins. DE Upshaw
    11. 'Hawks. DE Cam Johnson
    12. Chiefs. OG Silatolu
    13. Rams. OLB Lavante David
    14. Eagles. DT Thompson
    15. Jets. WR Quick
    16. Pats. CB Hayward
    17. Chargers. CB Josh Robinson
    18. Bears. LB Mychal Kendricks

Other possibilities: OT Massie; CB Trumaine Johnson; C Konz; DT Still, etc

  • Also, nearly forgot about OT/OG Jeff Allen!

  • I thought Kendricks would be 3 or below? Love him, prefer Branch.

  • Branch is solid, but we already drafted a "tweener".

Branch is 6'4 260 4.68 who benched 19 reps. Almost IDENTICAL to McBraveheart, except he didn't produce, is injury prone and lacks instincts.

I hear the Bears have a man crush on Kendricks, which is why I think they're going to get him.

    Kendricks is short, 6ft - 240, but ran a 4.46 - not, that's not a typo.

    Here's the summary from PFW.

"A fast, physical, powerful, high-motor stalwart, Kendricks smells blood in the water, hits with thump and has a desirable makeup. Is a scheme-versatile, seek-and-destroy ’backer who stands out on tape and could make an impact readily."

"Impact" "Instinctive" "Play maker" are Emery key words

  • I meant "No, that's not a typo" which in itself was a typo - I know, the irony.

  • You don't think ANY teams are going to give Adams a shot in the 2nd? I know he's a douchebag and he's got red flags, but Adams is #2 in terms of LT size and blocking ability scouts looks for.

  • In reply to Shady:

I think there are more highly graded OL guys that will go before him.

Glenn, Silatolu, Allen, Massie and Konz, maybe even Osemele.

Someone might still take him later in the 2nd after we pick though.

  • Please let Cordy Glenn fall to us...

  • Enjoy a few pics MB

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Murph..Is that the infamous.. Wheaties Box?

  • In reply to lobotobear:

Thats it lobo, the source of all evil in a liquor fueled bar on draft night!!

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

    Ha ha.

Awesome Murph. That pic of you, Posse and Artoo should be framed on the archives of Da Bears Blog archives.

Too bad you couldn't get NewBear, Jeff, and a few others in the shot.

  • Jeff was busy, and Im not sure if NewBear was there yet. Plus we took the pic ourselves and Artoo had to hold my phone because his arms were the longest and we had a hard time getting the three of us in the frame.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Murph! Very nice, thank you sir.

You look like you could have been in the WWF back in the day. Awesome! In the 3 amigos shot, was that MBP in the left (Your right?)

    Puts my beard to shame!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

that's the real deal. I didn't know NB was full on orthodox/Hassidic.

NB, it’s funny for me to see that with a bears ball cap. Cracking me up man.

  • Thanks for the pics Murph. I'm guessing Brownie was the guy on the left with you and Artoo?

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

    Yeah thats him

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

At least he doesn'st look like a Lib. Hee hee.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

I was kinda thinking he'd look like this. Ha, Just kidding Brownie, I know you can handle it.

I'd hate to see what some of you guys think I look like.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

Yeah I'm sure he can handle it. He seems straight up! He could be in my posse any time.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

    Hahahahaha... brutal.

That's actually not far from the way I pictured him. I have pictures for all you guys in my head. Trac, this is how I see you:

    Juuuuust kidding.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

This is how I picture Irish

And this is how I picture you MB30

  • Hahahahaha... fucking chef.

Dude, IGGYS!!!! Look below. Funny co-inkydink!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

btw, this is how I picture Irish:

  • I think you captured it! hehehehe

  • Thanks for the pics, Murph. Was that you in the middle of the 3 amigos pic? You don't look like Mongo at all! How disappointing.

  • Yeah Doc. I'm sure we all are way outta the ballpark when we try to picture each other based on our dialogue. That pic Murph used to have on his handle with the dog is the only one I'll ever be able to see in my minds eye when I think about him. Even after seeing the ones he just posted.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

  • In reply to lobotobear:

I got a koozie (kind of a cool give-away). My 6 year old has promptly designated it as his new glove.

  • I´m waiting for my Koozie Jeff....

  • In reply to elcaney:

Why in thee hell did you pick McClellin?

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

it´s too extend to explain here, give me and email and I´ll resume there.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

    elcaney is Emery.

    I knew it!

  • hahahaha no man, I´ll give u my reply later, because it´s too extend by this way. or like I said to DYLbear23. give me and email and I´ll send it there.

  • Can we stop whining about Decastro? OG is nowhere near a need, and Decastro isn't an OT.

  • IBNO...agree go after OT..Adams? maybe?

  • In reply to lobotobear:

    Hell no on Adams.

I'm in Columbus, and the die-hard buckeye nuts don't even like him.

I can dream that Martin will make it to #50, but I think it's gonna end up being a DT. There are a number of good ones left.

  • IBNO...not sure about either, but if your familiar about Adams and feel stronger about wanted to get our line done in FA..which I know we have done some.I just don't want to waste a we have in the past on our O-line and watch it blow up in our faces....

  • In reply to lobotobear:

Martin is more of a pure LT than Adams. That's why we didn't take Reiff.

You want a 4 year starter who projects to RT or even G? We already got one = he's named Carimi.

The Lions are gonna make Reiff they're RT then hope against hope that he's good enough to play LT later on. But even the Pack couldn't make Buluga a LT.

Short arms, clumsy feet, slow and weak don't hold up well against the Pepps of the world.

  • fuck man... I damn well hope that knee holds up, but I just don't see it. That thing is fucked already.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

That we cannot know MB - the health.

But Emery said the very first thing he evaluated was the team, and that he had the coaches do the same.

You know Lovie and Tice have a hard on for both Webb and Carimi - so what is Phil to do? Shove a Tackle down their throat?

If that were to happen, you know Reiff would've started in the dog house (hello Alex Brown), and created instant tension.

That's what happens when you can't fire your coach. It's a little weird.

But Reiff IMO is a RT, much like Bulaga.

I guess we're going to find out who is the better player soon because McClellin is going to face Reiff for the next 3 years.

  • I hope he is at least. Man, I have to shake off the angelo draft busties.

he WILL be a starter in 2 years... he will he will he will!

  • Adams = J'Marcus Chong.

  • He was probably the best player available. Let's see how he does with the Steelers.

  • If I break the blog with my html fanciness, I apologize in advance, but here's a pic of the raffle winner

  • In reply to Jokey:

So the only female in the raffle won? I call shennanigins! lol

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

  • In reply to lobotobear:

Just like Boise State, just change the end zone name to Bears

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

fuck murph, i don't watch any boise home games cause that disgusting field gives me headaches. what a fucking eyesore. so bad.

  • And can there be enough pics of NewBearInTown

  • In reply to Jokey:

Only if he'll build me a barn.

  • hahahaha dude, he's orthodox Jewish, not a fucking quaker.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    hahahahahahah I'm fucking cryin!

  • In reply to Jokey:

Jokey, how did you find those pics?

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Did you take those? You were there?

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Yeah I was there - we met super briefly. I'm the Korean guy.

  • In reply to Jokey:

Ahhh shit, I didnt know you were on here, I do remember you after looking at your twitter account and puttin it all together. I feel bad now knowing your were a reg on here and we didnt get more of a chance to talk. Hope you can make the next function so I can get a chance to talk more to ya. Good job on the pics!

  • In reply to Jokey:

Jokey , i thought Sean Jensen had tried to hijack the picture at the last moment.

  • ha! Big Bird raid!

  • In reply to gpldan:

Hahahahaha... thanks for the pics jokey.

Fucking big bird photo bomb! Classic

  • I actually thought that Jokey was Sean Jensen at first till I remembered the "Big Bird" story.

  • I was thinking all the negative things like "Who?!...WTF?! etc." When I remembered that I had read a small blurb about him some weeks. ago. Football Outsiders unveiled an updated pass rushing projection for draft prospects called SackSEER 2.0. They had McClellin ranked 3rd in the draft for projected sacks over his first 5 seasons. Great, right? Well, 2 downsides to their projection. 1) They thought of this class of pass rushers as very weak overall, so even as the third highest rated pass rusher his projection is around 20 sacks over his first 5 years. 2) The number 1 and 2 prospects according to their projections (with 28 and 22 projected sacks over their first 5 seasons) were 2 guys both still on the board. The number 2 was a home state kid many on the blogs had called out for the Bears to pick. Number 1 was drafted just a few picks later by a certain team north who wears Piss and Spinach for uniforms.
    Here is the link:

  • In reply to buckbear:

    piss & spinach hahahahahahahaha....and I thought piss & the shit's was good!!!

  • In reply to buckbear:

Heading into the Combine, Shea McClellin was rated as a fourth-round prospect, and he would have been an excellent bargain there. However, McClellin's stock has skyrocketed to the early first-round / late second-round range. McClellin is a nice prospect, but his SackSEER rating is just a little lower than you would like for a player who could go in the first round. Most of his hype has come from his solid 4.63 second forty-yard dash time, but his jumps were less impressive: 31.5" for the vertical and 9'4" for the broad. McClellin has only two missed games, but also has only average production.

  • In reply to Jokey:

I know this is a nooob question, but who is the older looking gentleman on his pic next to his name then?? Btw, anyone else from the tri-state area on this blog??

  • In reply to OsosFan:

Pretty sure it's the actor Murray Hamilton.

  • In reply to Jokey:

Artoo photobombing again. Look at him in the background. Porn star.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Murph thanks for posting the pics.

  • Zack Brown in the 2nd rd...and we have got to get McNutt.

  • Packers show interest in Colt McCoy as backup,0,5497071.story

  • The best part about the fight was when Blogfather tried to resolve the dispute by paying the dude whatever it was he thought he'd been cheated. But the guy didn't take any money. So he was arguing for the sake of arguing.

  • In reply to Jokey:

This guy sounds like a real d-bag...

  • In reply to Jokey:

Jokey thanks for posting the pics.

  • I think we can chalk this up as some Philly Cheese, a little misdirection prior to draft day:

  • In reply to gpldan:

Let's not consider posting articles from BR ever again? mmmk?

  • In reply to Shady:

    well said.

  • In reply to Shady:

    Does we hates it?

  • In reply to gpldan:

haha dude that site is such garbarge.

  • In reply to Shady:

I know. It's like the TMZ of football. A fucking Gawker site or something.

  • Frank Alexander from OK could fall as far as the 6th round, and be a steal as insurance for Shamus.

  • It's amazing how the Patriots' coaching staff pieced together a competitive defense from a random assemblage of spare parts. But when the game was on the line, the Giants were able to hit play after play against an outmatched secondary. - JJ Cooper on the SB

Hightower and Jones will go along way to fixing that D. They get a DB that can start in this draft, and Bellichek will have sent everyone to school yet again.

  • GP! Where were you last night?

  • In reply to Jokey:

Sorry I missed it. Here's my pic though:

  • In reply to gpldan:

Fucking classic. THAT shit made me LOL. I almost spit out an entire cheek of seeds onto my monitor. simpley brilliant.

Since we're sharing, this is me:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    YES!! FLY GUY!!
"Ma bitch betta have ... ma moneh."

Comedy movies are dead. I'm gonna git you sucka. The Jerk. Classics.

  • Can we throw Cutty a bone today? I'm hoping for Jeffrey, Randle or a Tackle.

  • In reply to Shady:

Oh, and here's a pic of shady:

    (that's so hot shady)

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    sooo hauutttttt

  • In reply to Shady:

  • How about we call him McLovin?

  • Here's why we didn't draft Reiff.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The "he isnt quaker" Im still laughing

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

    fucking anti-Semites

  • Jeff Backus is older than Urlacher. He can't anchor the LT spot much longer. They will put Reiff at right, and see if he can inherit left from Backus after this year.

Best went down with concussions, LeShoure had his achilles repaired (ow) and he was just busted with the stink weed in his car. So, they put together a line but have nobody to run behind it.

It still isn't enough to protect the Lesbian from Pep and Shamus.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Plus CJ now has the Madden curse. They're fucked. Schwartz should just kill himself now.

  • In reply to gpldan: a slow painful death is always better...maybe something like 0-16 and the basement of the NFL

  • In reply to gpldan:

yeah, CJ is fuuuuucked. I was really hoping rodgers would get the curse, but oh well. My second pick would have been The Lesbian.... but after that second game against us, he had no chance in hell.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

god, I could watch that game 1000 times and never get sick of it.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

MB....I'm pissed that we are not going top year the oranges this year.#$!@$##$!@%$!@$!!!!!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

me too MB. CJ is a huge Mofo, for Pepp to just fling him aside like shows you what a monster he is. no wonder teams tripple team him.

I remember one play where I swear Pepp and Peanut were chasing a guy down, and Pepp was running stride for stride with Peanut.

That's just insane. Truly a once in a generation player.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Some performance. We're going to roll over people this year. With Hardin, Wright, Conte and Steltz and the competition at corner, we just need an inspired LB pick.

  • Now that's what I'm talking about, my kind of columnist. Priceless.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

Yeah, it also made me realize how many horrible movies Sandra Bullock was in!

  • O-Line anyone:

  • To Help Cutty:

  • Still LMAO from: Cutty's flesh cannon of sweet death's quote regarding this soon-to-be-ultra-stud "we need to get that kid on some vitamin h-gh asap. Grow my little white flower, grow."

  • In reply to OsosFan:

"...Small and white, clean and bright, you look happy to meet me.."

    "...Bloom and grow forever..."

  • In reply to Shady:

    lol , fucking hysterical

  • Tim & Pat on Sirius said we're gonna love this McClellin kid. Said he made his presence known at the 1st practice at the Senior Bowl. They believe he's easily justified at where he went in the draft and he's a 4 down guy all day long. His only knock is that he'll get blown up if the Bears try to use him as a down lineman to stop the run. Im really stoked guys, the football guys are in love with him.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

When I initially heard his named called, I was like "Humph". I was lukewarm about it.

Not that I didn't think he would go in the first, but that he was more of a 3-4 fit that we might be able to get a little later in the 1st.

But after all the wheeling and dealing the Pats did, NO WAY he would've got past 21. I also really believe that GB was trying to trade up with the Bengals, but the Pats had more picks. So him at #19 makes sense in value.

I still have some reservations about him being more a 3-4 guy, but I remember last year I thought Liuget was more of a 4-3 DT but the Chargers drafted him right before us, and he's been pretty good.

I guess Emery wants football players first, then he'll let Lovie and gang figure out how to utilize them later. It's definitely different than what JA would've done.

  • It's gonna be up to old sauce to make sure they use him right.

  • The rook I'm really looking forward to see is HB David "crazylegs" Wilson, who the Gmen drafted.

I posted his youtube vid before, but he's exciting to watch. He's a track guy with a 41 vertical and 11' broad jump with 4.4 speed, agility and balance. He's also got personality. He might not be the best HB, but he'll be must see tv.

  • The G-men can afford to take a flyer on Wilson. Few other teams could make that pick work. Not a great pick in my opinion, they could have waited and picked him up later.

  • In reply to TracDaddy:

Rex Ryan took a couple of fliers too. Coples and Hill? We'll see, but I don't trust Ryan.

The Bengals really are the Bungles : Kirkpatrick, Devon Still and Mohammed Sanu? Bleuch..Two busts and an off-field risk.

The Jags hit it big with Branch ... and then draft a punter.

  • Emery's moves so far got me thinking today. I wonder if Phil laid out his draft plans to McCaskey when he interviewed for the job? I would love for him to be able to answer that question in depth after the draft. Maybe I'll write Uncle Larry a letter.

  • I'm not Commish fan, but common NY! Show a little restraint. You can't boo Goodell every freakin round.

  • Bears traded up and are on the clock!

  • Bears pick Alshon Jeffery, WR from S. Carolina, 6'4" 230 lb.
