Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears Game Thread

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears Game Thread

And for those of you interested in watching the scoreboards (specifically during the early games), Bears fans should be looking for the following:

New Orleans over Atlanta

The goal here is for the Saints to win the NFC North, leaving Atlanta and Tampa in the wildcard race.

Buffalo over Dallas

Dallas has a somewhat convenient schedule down the stretch and pushing them further back now might prove to be the factor elevating the Bears into the postseason.

Houston over Tampa Bay

I'm not really worried about Tampa but if you want to argue Tampa is still a threat, that argument is somewhat valid.

  • First to say what the heck is that lion doing?

(And I think you meant the NFC South... I know, it's early)

  • Just in case you mo fos missed my picks from last thread:

Oh shit, almost forgot to get my picks in this week...

    Stafford -12.5
    Fucking +4.5
    DEAD +10

(and shady, I'm more like bart simpson)

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Does that make Doc Millhouse?

  • In reply to Shady:

    yes... is Max nelson?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Haaa haaaa

  • In reply to Shady:

    Trac: Flanders?

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

    hahahah... that was okely dokely!

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

    What did I do now?

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

nothing, he's the guy on the simpsons who's religious and a really nice guy.

  • In reply to Shady:

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

  • We NEED this one. I'll be watching in San Antonio today, here for work. I brought some colors. Bear Down.

  • And being born in South Africa, I believe I’m qualified to comment on what that lion is doing.

...he's desperately trying to recover from getting absolutely fucking mauled by a big, angry, mean-ass bear that just kicked his ass up and down the fiel… I mean, jungle.

No, I'm not a zoologist… but I did stay in a holiday in last night.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Didn't know you were an Afrikaner, MB. Do you have a funny Dutch name?

  • Just read there is a wind advisory today. 25 mph with gusts to 50 mph out of the south. I hate it when the conditions affect the outcome of the game. However, with Best out the Lions have no running game. That will make it pretty tough sledding for the Kitties when they are going into the wind. Who knows how bad it will fuck up the kicking game but I like our chances. They have a new punter for this week and Hanson has some stitches in his knee. WHEEEEEEEE!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

If the Bears win Lovie will tell you it's Bears weather.

  • In reply to Shady:

Yeah, no kidding. I thought we'd win this game before the wind advisory. You'd think it would be an advantage for us. We'll find out soon enough. Hope we smoke 'em.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

If the Bears can force China to loft a few up in double or triple coverage, the Bears would have huge opportunities for INTs.

  • In reply to Shady:

I agree. Of course, we have to hope Cutler doesn't toss any up for grabs. It's going to be interesting

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

The south end zone is more open too, so it could by nasty.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

I'm guessing it will be. Hopefully we deal with it better than the Kitties.

  • can the vikings please get their shit together and fuck the pack up today... please. I know that could possibly have implications for us in the N, but if you throw in mullet taking rodgers out for the season I'll take it.

Wow, I just heard that the 49ners have yet to allow a rushing TD this year. Holy shit that's impressive.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

It would be beyond sweet if the BiQueens took out the Fudgies. It's bad juju to wish for injuries but I could live with the hillbilly smoking Rodgers a few times. Hope AP has a big game.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

I’m with you Canada. I actually like rodgers, from all the interviews I've seen he seems like a pretty nice guy. And you have to respect him as a player. Generally, I never wish for injuries, but because of their fans over the last two seasons I've come to be ok with asking for some injury help. In essence, fuck the packers.

(oh, and fuck the vikings too). As for the lions.... dead.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I'm such a wuss. Now that the Queens suck moose wang, I don't hate them as much as usual. However, I'm working up a pretty righteous dislike for the Kitties. They seem like a no class bunch led by a world class douchebag. I'm hoping to see that jackass on the sidelines crying all day. Instead of celebrating like a drunken frat boy. If Lovie and Schwartz got into it, my money is on Lovie. Still can't wish an injury on Rodgers. Although if it happened I'd probably be a pretty happy camper.

  • OK. Here's my pessimistic gameday post for this week;

For the Lions, this game SHOULD be subtitled "I don't think we're in Ford Field anymore, Toto". They're not going get 9 false starts on the Bears nor is Jahvid Best likely to pop for an 88 yard run.

I am concerned, however, that Detroit has the Bears basically where the Bears had Philly on Monday. That is, coming off a huge, emotional win and going up against a team coming off their bye.

    Danger, Will Robinson.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Lions will have sleeves packed with tricks, most of which will involve Megatron.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I agree Al. However, the last time we played them they were real chippy, pushing and shoving. They were really running their mouth's. I'm pretty sure everyone remembers that and had this game circled on the calendar.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Pre-guaranteed Al, this one is a W.

  • Last week was a "must win" "we can beat good teams" game.

This game is a "gotta win" "we need this to be in the playoffs" "we need to beat a divisional rival" "we plain don't like these bitaches" game.

    Go Bears!

  • In reply to 4ever85:

I called my brother in law a "bitach" today for not coming to my house today. The word actually works. It's my new "go to" phrase for this week.

  • Also, I read on "Chalk Talk" that the Bears are the first team in NFL history to effectively play 4 night-games in a row (considering the England time).

That's one way to snap Cutler out of his night funk.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

The schedule makers did us no favors this year. Next up are the Chargers after a 10-day rest (after getting beat on Thursday night). If we win today (big if) that would look like a classic trap game.

  • OK. I'm out til after the game. Hope I'm in a good mood when I get back!!!!!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    have a good ride canada.

  • dark snickers 4E

watching the special on the harbaugh bros... man I wish we would have brought jimmy home to replace lovie last year. Those guys are fucking bad.... ass.

Must be really nice to have your bro that close and in the same industry. Too bad my brother's an ahole. Oh well.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

My brother's an a-hole too, MB. Polar opposites, we are.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34: know...except for the a-hole part.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

yup. my brother is the classic slick, bullshitter enterprise software sales guy who's so narcissistic and self- engrossed that he was telling us how wussy we were because we thought having two kids 18 months apart with no help was tough... of course he didn't have any kids himself, but thought that playing uncle MB's brother to his buddies 9 year old kids for an hr every few weeks was the same experience as being parents.

...pretty much the definition of ahole doc.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I'm pretty sure my brother modeled his life after Tom Cruise's general eighties persona. Me, me, me. Fuck everyone else.

  • Andy Reid benched Desean Jackson for today's game. His reason was, he played like a pussy against the Bears - refusing to block many run plays and dogging it all night.

  • In reply to gpldan:

  • In reply to gpldan:

    Musta been scared

  • Alright fellas - I'm off to spend time with wife and kid in beautiful SE Virginia...which also means the Giants/49ers are going to be televised here, not the Chi-DET matchup.
So, I'll be at the bar twittering and will catch up with you guys post-game.

Bear down and have a kick-ass sunday.

  • Can't fucking wait 'til gametime.

  • I was supposed to do paperwork today until the game starts, but I can't concentrate. Too pumped up for the game. I hate that all the "experts" jumped on the Bears bandwagon.
Side note: Irish, that was a great song on the last thread.
Doc, good stuff. I actually heard the first song before, with Stockholm Syndrome, but didn't know who Jerry Joseph was. I"ll have to check out some more of his stuff. Love the acoustic stuff.

  • btw, the read option.... in the nfl?!?!? Tim tebow and john fox, you are the scourge of this league. Honestly.

  • I'm half naked outside a circle k in truckee California with Willie Gault's superbowl ring. So, I'll be blogging while on the run today, if at all. Go Bears. lol.

  • In reply to Crown:

im not even going to ask

  • In reply to Crown:

    meth is a helluva drug.

  • In reply to Crown:

i know you had a good reason to do it so i'm not going to judge.

  • Barnburner in Kansas City. Tebow - 0 yards passing in first half. Cassell - 18 yards passing. Wow. I think those are winnable games.

  • Less than two hours till kickoff...

  • In reply to Shady:

    t-minus 48 motherfuckers.

CLUTTS + FORTE + BENNETT with NO BIG PLAYS allowed and No sack fumbles allowed behind our own 30 = victory

  • Gonna be off at the Alehouse drinking Ranger IPAs and yelling at the TV with my kids and a bunch of Bears fans.

Have a good thread. I won't even admonish you about not feeding, as Lions trolls seem to be on the endangered list.

    Bear down!

  • In reply to SC Dave:

    important football observation:

    saints cheerleaders are super hot.

  • #45 pet peeve of mine:

when football players make the celebration movement of "eating up the opponent" but they make the spooning motion in the wrong direction which means they don't make enough plays to actually know how to eat an opponent up correctly.

  • #46 pet peeve of mine:

when every single time a WR doesn't make a catch they look to the refs like a huge pussy.

  • If the Bears turn todays game into a defensive battle I like their chances, but if it turns into a shootout I think Detroit has the edge. Mike Martz and the offense need to focus on ball control rhythm. If the Bears are having success running the football stick with it, don't try to get cute or fancy with the play calling. On the other hand if the Lions are selling out to stop the run, spread em out and let it fly after 3 steps. It's that simple Martz.

  • link boys and girls:

  • WTF are the saint's think cover who? damn dirty birds ran right down the fing

  • Hester active; hopefully he's restricted to return duties and not much else.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

  • Fuck me. I gotta watch overtime instead of the Bears.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

    me 2

  • Robbie though the endzone

  • terrible orange jerseys

  • Defense looking a step slow, Det offense looking sharp

  • In reply to Shady:

Peppers swallowed Calvin Johnson on that play.

  • In reply to Shady:

genuinely thought he'd rip Megatrons head off

  • In reply to Ufficio:

PEPPERS gets his due as well.

  • Oh, look, Detroit starting with the thuggishness right off the bat, again.

  • Vanden Bosch'sss aggressiveness bites him in the ass dirty fuck

  • Nice runs out of shotgun on the goal line haha

  • Sigh. Niner's vs. Giants here... also: take that, Johnson! Ha!

  • Okay let's go and get 6 here.

  • Did I ever mention how much I love Matt Forte?

  • Pep is the definition of the word "intangible"

    PERFECT START, long game

  • In reply to Shady:

    Matt PSeath still owning suckas!

  • In reply to Shady:

    Speath obviously.

  • Haha, Eagles lose again.

  • Wow my radio feed is about 30 seconds slow... I'll have to stop reloading this blog more than once every two minutes or so ;)

  • In reply to christianh:

I don't miss my days of watching games via online feed. I feel for ya bud.

  • When it rains in pours!

  • All 5 Lions road games, they turned it over twice.

    We just tied that.

  • Can Conte be the first to touch it?

  • In reply to Shady:

    Is it touch or possess?

  • In reply to Shady:

Why had Conte be out of bounds?

  • In reply to christianh:

Yes, exactly. Excellent play by Jennings. He got beat, but he knocked it out from behind and recovered it. Conte just happened to be around.

  • ... looks like it will stand I hear.

  • Saints win, nice!

  • The Detroit offense has that look of the OLD Lions, like, whats going on right now, we suck!

  • Phew. That made me nervous. Just let Jennings have it next time, Conte!

  • See, why get fancy Martzy?

  • Cutler and Bennett: the golden boys.

  • Forte had Davis open there, too.

  • Nice toss Cutty, wow.

  • Thanks for the link lobo. It got me through the first part of the first quarter. Great fucking start!

  • In reply to TheFifth:

5 blocking is not good 2blM

  • Nome code is reversing posts again.

  • Went to this site to try to get a game feed but no go:

Our tax dollars at work, I guess...

  • In reply to tobijohn: my good man

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

    Thank you, sir!

  • In reply to tobijohn:

  • Lions utterly lacking discipline today. I hope the Bears keep it together.

  • Robbie Gould good again! 10-0

  • In reply to Shady:

    Killing these kickoffs, too.

  • That SOMETHING carried over this week with the Bears, they're clicking on both sides of the ball. Matt Forte and Cutty balling on offense, Peppers and Urlacher going off on defense so far. Keep it going boys!

  • that last third and five
    we blocked five
    we failed to get 5
    so we settle for 3
Martz is gonna be the death of me

didn't he read the article this week about success rates of 5 man front vs 6-7
    apparently not
I'm an idiot and I read it and understood what it was sayin'

  • Devin maybe not 100% letting the kicker tackle him, haha. Get outta the way Roach!

  • In reply to Shady:

thought the exact same thing. If he didn't have a bum ankle and roach moved his ass then that 6points.

  • In reply to Shady:

Just a great tackle by the punter. Gotta give him his props.

  • Ok Shady either my feed is even slower than i thought or you have a time machine. Fess up.

  • Outstanding D so far. Now let's see if Hester is ok, and can deal with a punt into the wind.

  • Blown protection there didn't allow the blocks to set up

  • Jesus Earl fucking Bennett loves 3rd down.

  • johnny knoxin' on the goal line door

  • does anyone have a link for the game?

  • great catch from bennet. the man is amazing.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

Also, we may see the rare feat of a successful lovie challenge.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

  • That Duke catch reminds me of the Santonio Holmes TD catch to end the Superbowl.

  • throw it lovie
your record can't get any worse
we are missin alot of blocks today
the sack was a clean shot as 60 2bl teamed
    then on haster's runback
instead of comin' up and hittin the punter a bear just took an angle down field

  • can someone smack LDL for the fing flag really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to lobotobear:

This may turn out to work in his favor for once.

  • In reply to lobotobear:

    You were saying?

  • In reply to lobotobear:

    looked good to me.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

    told ya.

  • In reply to lobotobear:

agree it was a good challenge but damn I think LDL almost hurt himself getting the flag out. lol

  • In reply to lobotobear:

and btw I wanted him to challenge it jusr was ugly as always with challenges....

LDL is challengly challenged... I think that's PC

  • lovie wins one

  • if earl bennett were any more money... he'd be a $100 bill.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

who is on the $20 million dollar guaranteed bill?

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    matt forte

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    oh yeah
gotta get me one of those

  • Everything going Chicago's way right RIGHT Thom Brennaman.

  • In reply to Shady:

    * is

  • In reply to Shady:

you mean the thom brenaman that looks like he has downs? Fucking tool.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I k now that was harsh, but the guy is a fucking tooooool.

  • Bennett looked like Chris Carter on that catch. Amazing!

  • and fuck you announcers... what a dumb fucking ass way to judge something. morons.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Brian Billick BLOWs

  • In reply to Shady:

is that billick... jesus. Painful. He's not a bears or cutler hater actual, just a doucheyne.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The guy who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and acts like it.

  • In reply to Shady:

    exactly... a tool.

  • Cutler needs to start yelling at Roy Williams for being bad.

  • fuckena roy... keep smiling you idiot.

Jay, don't throw to that guy... he's not earl.

Damn it... we need 7s not 3s

  • How awesome was that decision by Forte to give the ball to that kid in the 1st row? Good on ya Forte, well done.

  • Schwartz is such a smug i hate that bitch...anytime a call doesn't go their way he acts like the whole world is conspiring against his bitch-self and dirty ass team...BEAR DOWN

  • In reply to RenoBear:

fuck schwartz reno... fuck him right in his face.

  • In reply to RenoBear:

I hope Lovie gives him a hug after the game.

  • we need to get the run game established, we're getting blow up on pretty much every run since early on. Their LBs have been shooting gaps really well.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • roy doesn't seem to want to get it together with jay
he is like the angry patron who wants it his way

  • my god these fags can't catch anything... it's awesome.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

How about using some other way to insult the Lions players? Thanks.

  • HESTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dropping easy catches, fumbles, calls (correctly) going in our direction....For once, it's our team getting things done in the big game. What a great feeling.

  • Bowman could have been called for a block in the back!

  • In reply to Shady:

Yes, saw that too. We caught a break there.

  • Devin Hester ... you are ..... .what's that word again ?

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

  • SJUNK GOAT HOFer!!!!

  • And that was with a bum ankle....

  • Yes MB.. Let's fuck ALL the kitties right in their fucking faces...

  • great punt by the second stringer though

  • In reply to huntinbare:

hunti... i know you're a hippy and a nice guy... but FUCK the second string punter.

  • In reply to huntinbare:

actuallt he is havin a great fill in game huge punt
    tackle on hester
not a bad job comin' in off the couch

    look at that peppers
    holly jalapeno

  • alright, 20 pts every quarter please... 80-0

  • Notice how many times Peanut is there at the end of Hester's returns?

  • I don't even care that I pulled Hester off my fantasy team at the last minute... GLORIOUS!

  • did I....bennet doin ok for me though :)

  • In reply to RenoBear:

I'm tied for first overall and should be okay this week, too.... When he was questionable last night, I had to make the call.

  • Chris Conte would get his ass WHOOPed by Cherilus haha - good spunk young chap.

  • Look at Conte gettin in cherilus' face love it...

  • Peppers is just amazing.

  • only one to stop hester is his own teammate

  • LOL at Peppers running stafford all over the field.

  • Sam Hurd c'mon man so unnecessary with the skunk running it back.

    Stop arsing around Martz!!!!

  • why are we payin barber
does martz have a barber aversion

  • Our short yardage offense is still a really sore point. How about a sneak for once?

  • In reply to christianh:

  • In reply to christianh:

Yeah, a sneak or even our short-yardage back. Martz fucks up 3rd and 1 almost every single time, it seems.

  • It's cool. D picks them up, again.

  • Stafford looks like an indoors QB today...

  • The announcers are making my ears bleed...

  • I wonder if Chris Harris was on any of those special teams coverages Hester tore up...

  • thaty is his weakest point of playcalling this year
great tackle on that mega man
    by the peanut

  • Martz has two of his three stupid plays a game out of his system, I hope.

  • The crowd is dead, it's like we're being blown out!

  • that a boy jay
talk some shit to that jerk
should be a fine for that helmet rip

  • I hope the press starts to call 2blM out on his third and short game
    this week

and where the hell is the rolling pocket

  • SLIDE cutler SLIDE

  • Am I the only one that saw Suh kicking out at Cutty there?

  • The rules are really weird because the NFL tries to take the ref judgement out of it. So if you barely touch a QB half a second late it's 15 yards, but if you clearly try to hurt someone it's no call.

  • Not to shit on the parade, but the Lions are notorious this year for 2nd half comebacks. Damn you Billick!

  • In reply to Shady:

Shady... shuush, go drink your beer.

  • merriweather sniffed that run out
    way to step up

  • Let's play some D here...

  • we need a sack

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    Ask and you shall receive.

  • god the announcers are STILL performing verbal fellatio on the lions...not sure who i stole 'verbal fellatio' from on here but it has stuck in my head! was it you MB?

  • tillman is mannin' up on johnson

  • Catch it Conte damn!

  • Damn it!

  • Too easy D, cmon not on third and long!

  • Third and fucking 15. Fuckity-fuck.

  • we are gonna need 23 in the second half

  • 3rd and 15 and they convert? C'mon man.

  • DJ C'mon man catch that shit!

  • i hope we gotta good 2 min drill in us
    for momentum's sake

  • are you allowed to push off like that when the pass is in the air?

  • Why let 10 seconds run off before the time out. Dammit, Lovie.

  • PEPPERS!!!!

  • In reply to Shady:

Sack lunch, num num num num num

  • now that is a good use of the time out
lovie is havin' a good game

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    See my comment above.

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    Don't jinx it!

  • Jesus enough about the glove already!

  • Run the ball!

  • Cutler does some really stupid shit sometimes.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

Then makes up for it with throws like that.

  • last time i heard this much about a glove
was when OJ had his day

  • In reply to huntinbare:

if it doesn't fit you can't commit

  • this O is gettin' lazy with a lead
we need to address this shit next week

    my man sam

  • Oh FUCK!

  • In reply to christianh:

  • Come on, what was that?

  • San Hurd sighting!

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

oh I love that guy he should be ahead of roy
I'm an idiot and I can see this

  • did the whistle blow?
and stop the players from pickin it up

  • Are the refs actually claiming this was a fumble? What - the - fuck?

  • Sam Hurd could have picked up the football, it was only right at his feet!

  • In reply to Shady:

Yup, what happened to swarming to the ball? I don't get how professional footballers can be so casual around lose balls. I just don't get it.

Also, I don't get how the Seahawks are about to fuck my life. Somehow I run into a massive upset every week.

  • what has happened to the throw down of jay
they should see that in the replay
    throw a delayed flag

  • Billick is having a terrible night. Wow.

  • In reply to Shady:

    is he a drinker ?
maybe one too many on the tailgate

  • Fuck Robbie, damn it.

  • The ESPN game cast is hilariously absurd today. It doesn't know where the ball is, who has it, or whether cutler threw for 123 yards or 1948??

  • Well, the Lions are down but not out. I hope we don't take our foot off their neck in the second half...

  • that was the ugliest 6:30 minutes of our lives for 0 :(

  • Ohh, missed FG. Bad omen....

  • Bears get the ball out of the half.

  • what an FUGLY end to the half.

We need to come out in the 2nd half and just score.

    A long soul-crushing drive.

  • Suh is just trying to kill Cutler, alley way assault style.

Somebody chop that mofo at the knees, North Dallas Forty style.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I would bring Omlette in for a play, tell him to beat the all living daylights out of Suh. Suh goes out, Omlette gets booted out the league, win-win situation in my books.

On a side note, I'd say KvdB and Avril are just as bad as Suh, if not worse in KvdB's case.

  • Well the Bears get the ball first in the second half and better make something happen.

  • gotta make some popcorn
eatin' is good for the nerves
    gould was not gold there

  • Cant believe Thom compared that 'fumble' to the Megatron 'TD' last year. What a dick.

"the lions can feel aggrieved that they wern't given what was a clear fumble recovery for them".

Fuck off you absolute cumstain on society.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

Ouch! ha ha I can't disagree.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

What recovery?? They recovered the ball by not touching it?

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

  • talk me down irish

  • In reply to huntinbare:

hintin...we come down when we bitch slap these fucks.....hang in there!

  • In reply to lobotobear:

    meant huntin...f"ing fingers

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    Pre-guaranteed HB.

  • Well i expect they will fine Suh again - but clearly that has no impact. If the NFL was serious about protecting players, they should suspend him for a couple games. (The same applies to some of the punk moves Merriweather has been pulling.)

  • Cookie out injured. Eddie Munster in.

Roy acts shocked he dropped it.

  • Not a good 3 and out - out of the half

  • that was weak..fuck me! piss poor series

  • Crap Chris Williams is out. Just when the line was starting to gel...

  • In reply to christianh:

  • In reply to Shady:

Yeah they say "won't be back, right wrist injury".

  • That works.

  • I thought Pringles was going to whip it out as his TD celebration.

  • Hi Mage - Turnover fest! hahahaha China you fucking doll!

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

Pretty sure I saw him lasso in that ball with his dong.

  • YES!

    Whew. I can breathe now.

    Bear Down Major Penis!

  • there is another wedding gift
give her a big kiss for me

  • Looks like it'll be a defense/special teams win today. Fine with me.

  • Job done. Now please, baby Jebus, give me a Ravens miracle comeback ...

  • Woo hoo. Da Bears. Gotta love the pix six.

  • I'm goin' to get three turnovers... a fumble, a fumble, and what was the third one...? .... uhm... oops.

  • is fuck billpuke sucking Schwartz swantz? god please stop with how fucking great Detroit is you cocksucker

  • Bears have 27 fantasy points. Espn had down for 4. Gotta love our boys. They really know how to pull our chain.

  • Oh my god. What a great game.

  • Pre. Guaranteed.

    Turn out the liiiiiiights ......

  • HAHAHA!!

  • Bend over China doll, you are the Bears bitch

  • In reply to gpldan:

good hustle by China to run back to a position to tackle, and then make no effort to stop peanut when he got there. Nice job glove boy.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I was wrong. Seeing China throw pic six's is way better than seeing him on a stretcher.

  • stop with the wedding gifts already

  • this is litterally the most awesome thing I could have ever imagined.

    Holy shit!

    Ha. Megatron got Optimus Peanutted.

  • I want to take this opportunity to kick Regis in his old shriveled balls, for picking the Lions as his lock pick on the morning show.

Regis - Who wants to be a douchebag? You.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    dude, honestly?FUCK that old fag.

    What a dildo.

  • right after brennamen intones that "this game is far from over" Stafford throws another pick 6! Love it! I can't wait for Billick to start talking about how the Lions are going to comeback and how many "weapons" they have; My view of Billick is that he's pissed that everybody still regards the 85 bears D as superior to his Ravens.

  • In reply to jj320:

speaking of the ravens... aren't the seahawks giving it to them right now?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Two fumble recoveries off kickoffs and they abandoned the run, Flacco is shitting the bed. I only needed the Ravens to beat the Hawks for 1100 yoyos. Fuck my life.

  • ben is no longer a jinx
    and never was
I am very happy for both of you

  • In reply to huntinbare:

hunti, you are salt of the earth mang. what a nice guy.

Seriously, no sarcasm there at all.

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    What MB said.

  • Thom to Brian: "I'm not sure anything's above your paygrade".

WTF? Did Billick make Brennaman his prison bitch over halftime or something?

  • In reply to jj320:

  • fuck you billick... no mention of the false starts and the noice??? Fuck you dude.

  • Still the Lions, still the lions....

  • no hustle off the field from the lions
    their heads are down

  • In reply to huntinbare:

they are beaten in every sense of the word hunti.

But by tomorrow in all the columns, the lions will have beat themselves. No mention of the bears.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Meh. No way they can not admit it any more. The Bears are back baby.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Don't forget the refs who didn't tell the Lions to pick up that fumble. that was very unfair of them.

  • In reply to christianh:

Clear Bears bias, refs are in bears pay etc etc.

  • oh, rhanks billick. yeah, give us some credit for the blowout. ahole.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

yup. It's only taken 4 turnovers leading to 24 points, a punt return TD, a beatdown of the Eagles, Bucs and Vikings for him to say that. Bet it choked him when he tried to say the words out loud.

  • This game is vintage bears and I love it!

  • reminds me of the infamous cardinals game of '06.

Offense sucking, defence +ST shrugs shoulders and say 'don't worry, we got this.'

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

To be fair the offense doesn't have the ball that much when there's three returns for touchdowns.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

Speaking of the Cards, those duechebags actually beat the iggles today.

  • Let's have a blow-out to send a message.

  • damn... spivey must be faaaast

  • i woulda tried a draw or screen

  • I want that play that we missed on in week 2. fake out to the right with a toss back across the field to a wide open TE on the left.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Save it for when it matters.

  • Can we sit Cutler now please?

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    run it up... dirty cunts.

    Mission successful.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

  • oh yeah, he's a winner tonight brian.

  • {What a beautiful tribute to see that soldier in tears at our stadium}

  • yes he had some real hardware

  • In reply to huntinbare:

No kidding! That suit was shiny :)

  • Billick still saying "everything's gone against" Detroit in the game, as though they were playing craps. Just godawful.

  • did that tool just have on a fucking chris harris jersey?

    Hooooly shit.

  • Hey Conte, playing deep mean's actually being deep - get back there!

  • cmon' chris you shoulda seen that one coming

  • fucking BOOM!!!!!

    Just awesomeness.

  • it IS an excuse ahole

  • I LOVE how chris harris has given away the secrets to our defence.

I'm crediting the two pick 6's directly to him. Heck, make him a player of the week as well.

  • In reply to huntinbare:

huntin..billprick can't say it cause he has Schwartz's swantz in his mouth..not enough room in his mouth to give love to Schwartz and the Bears

  • Why is Cutler still in this game? Their fifth roughing the passer call? Are you kidding me? Charles. Martin.

  • little impetus
that was athree set drive to the turf
the rookie should not be listening to the veteran creeps

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    3 step
    i gotta start breathing

  • martz not calling a good game; receivers not running good routes w/ exception of bennet today.

  • play calling is sucking. I get it.... but common. get a little more creative.

Are the rest a you guys realizing we haven't thrown a screen in about 5 games??? What the hell happened to our great screen game?

And yes, ok... get franchise outta there right now pls.

  • we haven't played with this type of lead
so this is a good education for everyone
coaches included, on how to properly finish

  • Well since we rightly demand the Bears be given credit, let's give some to the Lions. Their defense is really good. At least Cutler isn't constantly running for his life today like in the game in Detroit.

  • In reply to christianh:

good point. I'd like to see more screens and quick routes. most passes have been in the seam to Bennet. but i really can't complain.

  • In reply to christianh:

fuck the lions. fuck them right in the face

  • Those Lions players are out of control, but the Bears have to stay cool. let the NFL sort it out.

  • that was one of the weirdest sequences i've seen. how can there be no fouls there?

  • been watching on my phone, just walked in the house and WTF is going on other than we are beating the shit out of the pussycats... Fight???

    Where's that Lion's 'troll now?

  • cunts.

    DJ blasted that pussy

  • and they eject DJ Moore.

Fuck off refs. Fuck right off you slimey QB protecting scumbags.

  • did you see suh back the fuck down as soon as pep showed up? Ahahahahahahahahaha

  • YES!

  • This is just absolutely unbelievable. If the NFL doesn't force the Lions to take some control their punk-ass players are gonna kill someone.

  • Yeah you have to get Cutler out of there. Those assholes will try to hurt him any way they can.

  • Get Cutler out of there N-O-W!!!!!!!!

  • so that's a foul and the rest of the crap gets a pass

  • I couldn't ask for a better birthday present than this game.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

This game and a blow job? Not that I'm offering. Just saying. It could be better.

  • what a BS penalty.

  • wow, the colts truly suck so badly it's amazing.

Here it comes... the bears didn't win this game, the lions lost it.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

of course we do not expect honesty now do we

  • Or rather, heard.

  • Another ludicrous penalty. This is the most absurd job of biased officiating I have ever seen.

  • Remember when the Lions wanted this to be a rivalry? That was cute.

  • refs have been abysmal this year.

  • In reply to Dáithí Ó Mórdha:

  • this is the part of the game that the coach would look down the bench
    and feeling really comfortable say
    "hunti get in there"
and I would quizically look at him
    point to my numbers
    and say" Me?"

then fall down as I got half way to the huddle

  • The Bears D has 36 ff points. Wow.

  • can we all throw in a couple $$$$ and have someone on D to give Fuckford a concuss? pass the hat around

  • this was the spanking the d has been lookin' for
great team effort on the defensive side of the ball
the lions are lucky that martz was feeling sorry for his old team
and throwin' some of the calls

and so much for that class the the mole held for the lions this week
maybe that's why we cut him

  • In reply to huntinbare:

  • time to take the foot push down hard on the neck and twist to let the last bit of air out of the carcass

  • The refs could not care less about the criminal behavior of the Lions. Unbelievable. It's clear the Lions coaches either have no control or are teaching their players to hurt people.

  • Detroit was ranked #7 this week. Hmm...I wonder how many spots they climb after beating themselves today.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

clearly if the #7 team beats itself, they'll be tied with the ravens for joint #2 this week

  • Did I read this wrong? According to PFT, the Bears look like a Superbowl team.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

Read the last line. I love it.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

I do love it. Damn straight.

I can't help but think that in the years to come these are going to be some monster games
the rivalry just went to a whole 'nother level

  • A few thoughts before the game ends and the commenting goes crazy. These are all negatives... but I'm very happy with the Bears.

    1) Earl Bennett is our only true every-down WR. Knox would be a good reliever for deep routes, Hester is a special teams guy (a very special one), ditto Hurd (I think I liked Rashied Davis better honestly). That's it. We're going to need someone to line up opposite Bennett if we want to be a first tier offense.

    2) Forte had a forgettable game (18 for 64 isn't bad). He really does not excel in short yardage situations and we're going to wear out his body if we keep putting him there. Give Barber the ball on 3rd and 1; give Barber the ball in these clock eating obvious runs; he's certainly not going to do worse than Forte.

    3) In general the offense scored 16... the D/S scored 21. This goes to my earlier comments... we still have work to do.

    4) At worst, this summer we'll be in the bottom third of the draft (if not the bottom 3 teams again). At that spot, we're not getting a starting WR, so I'm thinking its time to invest in our D. But please please please look seriously at the free agents on the market.

    5) Bad form D.J. Moore. The Lions pulled a lot of shenanigans, but there was no reason to get yourself ejected in a situation like that. I think retaliating is neccesary sometimes for morale, but this wasn't one of them.

And to end on a positive note.

My dream playoff story at this point goes something like...

Bears play the Giants in NY (where Giants fans are notoriously fairweather). After a halftime lead, the Bears are clearly the majority in the stadium, led by our own blogfather of course.

Following that trouncing, we travel to Green Bay and calmly dismantle the Pack in their house as a payback for last year.

Before... finally returning to Soldier Field as the 5 seed taking on 6th seeded Detroit where we play... pretty much the same game as today again.

And then we take a short bus ride to Indy where we take on the I'm not sure who (I think Cincy would be fun to play after a similar AFC North domination of that playoffs), and the coveted trophy goes to... who else? Da Bears. Game MVP Brian Urlacher.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

That playoff scenario is a pipe dream for this reason only. The Lions WILL NOT be in the playoffs. I called it 3 weeks ago and I'll say it again. The Lions are not going to the playoffs. They will lose 4 or 5 more games. Losses will be as follows: GB, GB, Oakland, Saints and to a scrub team somewhere in between.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

I would like to analyse 4)

    '05 WR's drafted in picks 16-32:

    #21 Matt Jones
    #22 Mark Clayton
    #27 Roddy White

    #25 Santonio Holmes

    #23 Dwayne Bowe
    #27 Robert Meachem
    #30 Craig Davis
    #32 Anthony Gonzalez

no WR's taken in 1st round. Notable is Jordy Nelson at #36, but this was a bad WR year.

    #19 Jeremy Maclin
    #23 Percy Harvin
    #29 Hakeem Nicks
    #30 Kenny Britt

    #22 Demaryius Thomas
    #24 Dez Bryant

ignoring the past draft as we only have Jon Baldwin, and he's not done anything special. It's clear that it's hit or miss with late round WR's. Out of the 14 there, 8 could be considered to be a good pick (White, Bowe, Holmes, Maclin, Harvin, Nicks, Britt) or 4/7 which is 57% success.

Looking at WR's taken in the top 16 picks over the same period:

    #3 Braylon Edwards
    #7 Troy Williamson
    #10 Mike Williams

    #2 Megatron
    #9 Ted Ginn Jr

    #7 Darius Heyward Bey
    #10 Michael Crabtree

Now we have Megatron and a bunch of wasted picks. A.J Green and Julio Jones (espec AJ) look to be good this year. From this I'm concluding that you are better off in drafting a WR late unless the guy is a surefire homer. How you determine 'surefire' isn't a definite process, so a high WR pick always carries insane risk.

All this is irrelevant, Jerry's drafting a 5ft 6 white CB with our #1 pick this year anyhow.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

You're basically agreeing with me. In general the top WR prospects are going to be taken in the first 20 or so picks. I suppose what we're really looking for is for Angelo to choose a true athlete that's built like a #1 rather than ability. In any case, its a bit early to know what's truly available, but its fun to think about.

I see Bennett's potential as being in the kind of career that Wes Welker is having in New England. Welker is not the fastest and not the biggest, but he runs routes well enough to beat Derrell Revis and has sure enough hands to get more catches than Randy Moss.

What I'm looking for on the other side... basically Randy Moss. I want a guy with speed who creates the jump ball threat deep. Hester and Knox have speed, but they aren't jump ball threats, so a good free safety can cover them 1 on 1. If we can get a guy with the physical skills to do that, even if he's not a great route runner and even if he isn't the third down go-to, he can fill the role.

So to the college watchers... who's out there?

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

I think we should just go and get Brandon Marshall, a proven commodity, and draft our future MLB/OLB. A new corner wouldn't hurt either. I really don't trust Jerry enough to hit on a big time WR.

I don't know a lot about college ball, but the top prospects on CBS ( (I took the first google article) would all fit the big physical receiver that we want. If we say the first 3 are taken before our pick, I think we should draft elsewhere.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

I agree that picking up Marshall is the right move. And to be honest about the personal issues he's had, I think a team like the Bears would actually be a really good fit for the guy. Low profile locker room, coach well liked by his players, and a QB that we know he has a great relationship with. I'd throw him a 2 year deal in a heartbeat.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

should we give sam hurd some more opportinities
he seems like a brawler and his hands have been reliable when thrown too
I am done with the roy experiment

  • In reply to huntinbare:

Oh he's not coming back. But I'm not upset about him at all. I think Roy, Sanzenbacher, Fantuz and all the rest were great examples of Angelo looking for value. Sanzenbacher honestly has been a great off the bench guy and I could see bringing him back if he can work on the drops. Roy cost us I think the veteran minimum or close to it... it was a good try.

What Jerry needs to do though is spend on someone proven. That's what Brandon Marshall represents... and this isn't the first year we've said that.

  • Its official, great game but I have absolutely decided I don't like the orange Jerseys. It just doesn't look right.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

I want the throwbacks from last year.

  • I still say winning the division can happen. It's gonna a tough draw to play the last two games of the season on the road and then have to go on the road throughout the playoffs. Here's to impossible dreams.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

Dude like two weeks ago you said the season was over, let alone win the division.

  • In reply to Shady:

C'mon Shady, have a heart. When they were 1-2 and after they almost lost to Carolina I was pretty down on my boys. That was quite a while ago and just about every Bears fan could see the writing on the wall if things didn't change. After we beat the Buc's in London I knew the Bears had turned the corner.

  • should not go that far new bear we,re looking like a great team but not superbowl just yet.

  • In reply to Sean:

Don't see why not. We've faced the top pass rushers, the top rusher, GB's defense doesn't look special. No reason we can't wreck their perfect season and then go down to Lambeau and wreck them in the NFC champs. That would be too sweet. There's nobody in the AFC that scares me. Pats have the best offense but no defense ... and defense wins Championships.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    one thing I noticed;
and football, is more everybodies sport than mine.
    i don't know it as well .
but there, seems to be alot of sloppy line play still
    big room for improvement
    so if they keep cleaning up some of the missed assignments;
I agree, we will be more than a handfull for any team come playoff time

thanks for helpin' me see the light this weekend
I needed some brothers to lean on
don't know why I was so shaky
    it's not like me
I'm usually telling anybody that is within' earshot
that we are kickin' your but

  • In reply to Sean:

Oh we've got a long road yet Sean. We're still technically behind Detroit in the standings because of division record. We're still gonna have to win a lot of games to get to 11 (I don't think 10 gets it done this year, even with the tie-breaks we own). And as I wrote above, we're still not firing on all cylinders offensively.

But the goal is not to win a few more games this season. The goal is not make it to the playoffs. The goal isn't even to get the NFC championship. The goal is to win the Superbowl. Who's coming to Indy?

  • Well, Jeff, you were right. Crazy ass beat down - crazy ass BEAR DOWN.

    I'm happy.

Did I ever tell you guys I love Earl Bennett? You know, in a football sort of way.

  • Joe Flacco has knocked the Chiefs off the top of my shit-list.

But my Bears, you were beautiful .....

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Tune in next week for the next Guaranteed-Irish win.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

I blame Cam Cameron. In both losses to the Jags and Hawks (now a combined 6-12) they've abandoned the run game. Ray Rice specifically.

    Hawks: Rice, 5 carries. Flacco, 52 passes. 1TD 1 INT, 255yds
    Jags: Rice, 8 carries. Flacco, 21/38 1 TD, 1 INT 137yds

He's almost as bad as Martz.

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

Had the same thought. They threw a lot in this game because they were trailing early, but not by that much. Way to let the game get away from you.

  • Billick doesn't hate the Bears. He's just an idiot. T.B hates Chicago because the Flubs fired his ass. His old man is certifiably nuts and keeps the little Twit worked up. The refs were truly fucked. Suh pushes Cutler down about 3 seconds after he threw the ball and nothing. Fairly pancakes him late and they flag him but nothing else. The guy clocks Jennings OOB and China cheapshots Moore and no flags on the Kitties. Also, how is a 6'5, 235 lb receiver defenseless? If you go over the middle or your QB leads you into a bad situation, those hits happen. KVDB is always up for a cheapshot. I was just glad we smoked those fuckers. I'm pretty sure the next time we play them LoveRod will cook up a little pay back for China.

Next week is a classic trap game. Hope they take care of business.

  • Chargers missing McNeil. Peppers and Melton will feast. Limit the big play, run the rock, pass it to Bennett 6 times and a little Hester and voila!! Recipe for success.

  • Crap it looks like Chris Williams is out for the season.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

    what? more info please.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    yeah wrist surgery

  • we may have beat the sight out of the kitties but it may have cost us..sheite:

  • In reply to lobotobear:

sorry NY...didn't mean to step on you brah....

  • In reply to lobotobear:

Get well soon Bear Jew, we need your hairy ass back in there.

  • In reply to lobotobear:

Bollocks. At least we know what to do with Carimi now, move Louis into LG and stick Carimi at RT.

•'d that work out you dipshit:

  • It's starting to look more and more like Dallas is going to beat out Detroit for a wild card spot. Detroit looks to be in bad shape after getting shellacked today. Stafford now says he had a broken finger on his throwing hand from the Denver game. Waaaa waaaa waaa. This team doesn't have the character I thought they did before the season started. I guess Jimmy Harbaugh put the jinx on em and their season is tumbling down the tubes after the Bears put a first class ass whoopin on em. Forget about it.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

and trac...who might JH played for ...hee hee hee..... even though he may not play for us..he's still a Past Bears!

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

Detroit is still a long way from out of this race. They're a dangerous team, and this game will test their ability to bounce back. Carolina is a dangerous team (despite today's shellacking), but if the Lions win they'll have momentum going into another big emotional Thanksgiving game not unlike the MNF against the Bears.

Personally, I want them in the playoffs. The devil you know is my choice, and I like being in the toughest division in football.

  • Great Game, eh guys? Fuckin A.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

Fuckin' A right, Doc. I used to feel sorry for the Lions but they are a bunch of dirty cheap shot artists. You can thank their douchebag, crybaby coach for that. I hope we really light them up the next time we play them. Fucking assholes.

  • Where are those two trolls by the way ..... hey - boys ? Pony up here .....

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

They'll be at home burping the worm to highlights from the game in week 5, trying to reassure themselves that they don't suck

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

schwartz is busy wipin' the tears from his eyes
he can't see the keyboard yet

  • Not impressed with the coaches however - keeping Cutler in the game when Detroit clearly had a shoot-to-kill policy on Cutler. Five roughing the passer calls and I didn't even see the end of the game.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

They brough Hanie in with I think 6 minutes to play. I had the same question though... especially after that brawl.

Guess Detroit really wants a rivalry... well start winning games and we'll see you in the NFC championship game.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

Ah, had to run off to work before the end, thx. Not so worried about our O-line, they were up against it today, we won't see that kind of pressure until we play the Raiders.

  • Defensively I was impressed.

    Offensively I was disappointed.

This goes to show how much Chris Williams means for us. I didn't see many big runs for Forte this game.

Lance Briggs has some hit power.

I hope we can win with Edwin Williams in but we will see. I was also disappointed in the Lance Louis played. He did not shut down anyone and it seemed that we couldn't do anything on offense.

Overall, I loved the win and I am proud of our Defense. Just disappointed in the offense.

  • Another note, does anyone have a video of Briggs hitting Johnson.. I need it lol

  • shit. we lost cookie monster BEFORE today??!?!? Fucken a man.

I hope that wasn't the reason our insane running game suddenly 'went to shit' against a proven bad run d.

  • That was a hell of a game. The D played lights out, Peppers was a beast, and they made Stafford look like a tool... until Stafford made himself look like a fucking punk-bitch WWF cheap-shot artist with that throwdown of Moore by the back of the helmet.

The number of cheap shots by the fucking Lions was ridiculous. That is a team with no class that can't lose with any semblance of dignity or grace. Stafford needed to be ejected and suspended for that shit (reaching over a head and grabbing the back of it to flip somebody over is NO FUCKING ACCIDENT, goddammit). Suh is unbelievable... I had been willing to give him a little benefit of the doubt, until this game. He needs a suspension.

But all in all, great win and I'm glad the Bears players to a man took no shit.

  • it's funny how life came back and bit them in the ass; after they all got chirpy about our penalties up in detroit

the D took this one personal
and stepped up bigtime; to redeem themselves
they hated hearin' from the press about those gashes for big gains in game 1
    what a mighty response
maybe williams will put a cast on it and be back

for all the class lovie shows ; and his respect for the game itself
it is a shame that the newly crowned lions were getting more respect from the refs

i absolutely hated that call on briggs
i do not understand how ; when the initial impact is with the shoulderpads; and then his momentum carries him up the defenders body; and strikes the opposing players helmet
that you can call a penalty
that was a great tackle with some pop to it
    that is all

do they grade these refs after each game?
    they were horrible

  • paging morons flajo and RJ Lang... paging tools flajo and RJ Lang.

How are you two fucking clowns feeling tonight? Enjoy it bitches.

(that is why you don't come onto a rival's blog and talk smack about your shitty, classless team. Oh, and there’s no crying in football.)

  • canada, agree next week's game looks like a trap game.... but san diego looks terrible right now. And like johnny says, they lost their starting LT. I think the guys know we need every game we can get and will go out and get it.

I'm also hoping there's real Chi-town weather next weekend... SD won't hang with that.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

no trap game for this bears team. They will know what they need to improve after watching the tape.
CW going down hurts but losing a tackle would hurt more i would think. Tice will adjust.
More Bennett is needed. Once again he didn't drop a fucking pass.
Forte catching a couple of passes is imperative as well.
Defense is flying around with confidence and even though they aren't perfect they are making plays and putting pressure on opposing qb's.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I watched that game as I had SD to win me a bunch. As soon as McNeil went down it was open season on Rivers, WImberley Womble seemed to sack him every 2.4 seconds. V-Jack was invisible, but they've got this Vincent Browne dude who is a legit deep threat. We'll kill them in the Cover 2. I'll guarantee this one too, we'll kick the shite out of the Chargers.

  • i'll leave you guys with this:

  • Rex Ryan's face is priceless right now. The intense scowl illustrates:

    a. the patriots are spanking the Jets 37-16
    b. the dessert cart at halftime was out of the Carrot Cake that he loves

  • I read the post game quotes and not one Lions player owned up to any cheap shots. Of course, the douchebag crybaby coach was leading the way with the delusional denials. It will be interesting to see who get fined and how much.

HB, that call on Briggs is as bogus as the one on #54 earlier in the year. They established their position, had a good base and delivered with the shoulder. Both times the opponent saw it coming at the last second and ducked down, leading to their heads getting popped. How the hell is that the fault of the guy delivering the blow?
