  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    lead on
    mr. early bird

lead us all into that promised land
    just remember
when it all starts gettin tight tonight
if you can't take a punch
it won't matter how hard you hit

but,we got your back;;; brave sir

  • I'll be happy to just avoid this

  • A7X - Tebow's record as a starter is 1-2, so he does not have more career wins than Newton in fewer starts.

I'm glad you like him; I just don't see how he is objectively better than Cam Newton.
By the way, I agree with you wholeheartedly on their personalities. I think Cam is a smug SOB too.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

I'm not bashing on Tebow but there is a difference when a team game plans for Orton and versus when Tebow replaces him during the game.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

tebow is limited by his arm capabilities
his offense will probrably be subjected to the same limitations
he has ability; but the NFL can be punishing to some of his better charactristics; and i fear for his longevity
i think he would be great in a system that had a quality back-up also
he may miss several games a year, subjecting himself to too much abuse

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Am I the only one who sees Tebow's eerie resemblance to Grossman?

The guy looks like Rex's big brother. With normal sized hands.

So what he missed the baby hand genes, that genetic makeup is nothing but a heart breaker.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

Check that nonsense out! I'm NOT the only one!

I guess they made a baby and he pitches for the Yanks... Scary things, man. Scary.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

Ah I finally get the Tebow hate. He reminds the Bears faithful of Rex. By the way, which picture is Rexy?

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

    That one in the middle.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

tebow is such aphenomenon that he shows up everywhere
now he is rumored to be in bed with sexy rexy

the mind of man and modern science
    pure "frenkenstonian"

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

How did you make that link clickable willie?

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

    Tebow action figure

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

[a href="enter URL here"]Put the wording for the link here[/a]

    [a href="http://www.chicagonow.com"]GnomeLand[/a]

Change the left brackets to less than signs(shift+comma), and the right brackets to more than signs (shift+period).

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Like when he pulled his jersey open like Superman after he scored on the Bears?

Hard to imagine Tom Brady doing that.

  • If Fairly plays, this is the Lions interior rotation:

    Suh, Corey Williams and Fairley
Sammie Hill or Andre Fluellen at times

Van Den Bosch on the outside against Webb.

I hope Cookie and Louis and Garza ate their wheaties this morning.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I hope Kellen Davis can chip those guys like the Packers tight ends were doing to the Falcons DE's last night. There were some pancakes!

  • going into tonights game, the packers are out in front by 2 and a half lenghts
all of us jockeys riding the bears horse are all wondering right now; if we brush her withers with the wip, will she respond, to catch up.....
or fall back to 3 lenghts going into the second furlong

i think our horse has enough to stay 2 lenghts behind
and keep the green gelding in sight
just letting our steed get sight of the wip will be enough

the silver stallion spits; the bit and pulls up short of the finish line tonight

  • first and foremost....BEAR THE FUCK DOWN BOYS!!!!!!

but I got a question for my fellow bloggers.
I just moved back to the city (Des Plaines to be specific) this weekend after living in Southern Illinois for 12 yrs. and tonight will be my first Bears game as a resident of the Northwest Chicagoland area and my question is....can anyone recommend a great restaurant/bar to watch games at? A place where there's compotent fans like us, cuz there is NOTHING I hate more than watching/talking football with people who dont know what the fuck they're talking about!
So, if any of you fine gentleman have a suggestion on where I should watch the game tonight (preferably somewhere in the northwest 'burbs) I would greatly appreciate it!

  • O.K. holiday, today, thanks to that great italian mariner of the High seas C.C.

I already had chosen this weeks "inspirational game song"
    from the dylan family vault
but; just reading Jeff's opening thread title
    got the creative juices flowing
    eeeeeaaaaassssyyyyy boys, take it easy
so this week we will post a two-fer

keeeeeeping within the framework of a cotroversial, and dominant theme; from this weeks banter

    here is Jeff's inspiration:

    Ford's Field Revisited........

Oh Pep said to Matthew, "I'm gonna kill you son"
Matt says, "Man you must be puttin' me on"
Pep says, "NO" Matt says, "WHAT?"
Pep says, "You can do what you want Matt, but....
Every time you see me comin' you better run"
Then Matt says, "where do you think this killin' will be done?"
Pep says, "Out on Ford's field , is where I will kill you son!"

time to beat back the jungle

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    Well done.

  • In reply to huntinbare:

"you guys do what you gotta do... I'm about to eat this fool"

  • Man was I a Falcons fan last night. BUT no dice.

OK my Bears Comrades, time to rise up and send as much painful, ferocious, blood-drinking, bone crushing Karma we can possibly send out to our Monster of the Midway BEARS.

    (Bows Head)

Oh great and powerful Papa, we beg you send down your fiery wrath upon the lions. Allow Walter to channel his greatness to Forte, Let Peppers be released of his invisible bonds and let him stomp Stafford into the holy dirt of our battlefield. Send your wisdom to Lovie and Martz so your play calling will be done and force our enemies to yield to thy divine power. Lay your beefy hand upon our Offensive line and allow them the strength to protect our Jay from pressure. Lift up your holy clipboard and shield our players from harm or injury and finally send down your thunderous grace and bless us, our players, our coaches and let none of us have aneurisms if you will not be done.

  • Bear vs Lion, It's not pretty but "Bear" wins.

  • Did Neckbeard puke on Fox's shoes or something?

Tebow is now the starter. I wonder if this is all high drama against a lost season, something to placate the masses.

We'll see how he fares when a spy is assigned.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Of course, after tonight - maybe we'll be calling for Hanie.

  • In reply to gpldan:

It's an easy way to lower expectations. Good point.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Well I do think Tebow did spark some life into Denver at the point he came into the game. Sometimes a spark is all you need to get back in it and that is what happened yesterday. Is Tebow the answer? Only time will tell but so far Orton hasn't taken them to the next level...Tebow is worth a shot at the very least.

  • Oh and since we are showing Big Hits on Detroit QBs I have to bring this one out of the archives.

Today, with the current NFL rules, ,Marshall would most surely be suspended 5 games and fined.

  • I don't mean to dishearten you guys before the big game tonight but- Oh wait, yes I do-...............

The Bears are 5/2 odds to win tonight
The Packers are 3/1 odds to win the Super Bowl

According to Vegas, the Packers are almost twice as likely to win the Conference as the Bears are to beat THE DETROIT LIONS.

    Marinate on that............

  • In reply to thebigcheese:

I watched the Packers turn it around against the Falcons. The Packers are good, but if you lose Rodgers, it's over. It's perhaps the finest spread offense I've ever seen run, save for shitbird James Starks who is a crummy back.

    Oh... and fuck you.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Yah, they are good. Obviously when the starting QB goes down, the team is pretty fucked......unless the team was already fucked to begin with (most likely because they had a shitty QB in the first place). But when you start talking about injuries being the only thing that can derail a team, you've got yourself as good a shot as you could possibly ask for.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Had Atlanta stuck to their gameplan into the second half instead of trying to throw the ball all over the f-cking field, the Packers vaunted offense wouldn't have made a difference. The Falcons did the right thing against the Packers front-line in the first half, run the ball to the B and C gaps and stay no-huddle (not hurry-up) as long as you can.
Last night just proved that Atlanta has an identity crisis going on and that the Packers are too good for a team with a two TD lead on them to start farting around.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Oh, and the Atlanta secondary looked like they'd been taking tackling lessons from the idiots in Philly. Terrible angles and no wrapping up.

  • In reply to gpldan:

i am enjoying the season play out this way
we faced the best for two weeks; and we found out what we have to shoot for to give them a run for the title.
it is up to our organization to get everybody improved
    over the next 7 weeks
we got the truth about things.....
now we see if coaches can improve the talent
if players can eliminate their weaknesses, or at least strengthen those areas a bit'
no penalties from the line play ....both sides of the ball
    mistakes show lack of discipline

I like seein' where we gotta go to reach the top
    now we just need to
    committ to excellence

  • In reply to huntinbare:

  • In reply to thebigcheese:

I give the Packers lots of props. Rodgers is playing lights out right now and is probably the top MVP candidate if the season were over today (but it's not).

You should celebrate with other Packers fans instead of wasting time being a douchebag on a Bears blog.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

  • In reply to thebigcheese:

Try again. First off, 5/2 odds = 28.6% chance of winning. As of today, I see Packers at 4/1 odds to win the conference = 20% chance.

Not only is 20% not almost double 28.6%, it's in fact less than a single 28.6%.

  • In reply to Michael L:

sportsbook.ag has Green Bay at +140 to win the NFC. that's 7/5, not 4/1.

I can't find Bodog's futures bet for the Conference Championship games, but they have GB at +350 (7/2) to win the Superbowl.

If you actually found a sportsbook that has Green bay at +400 to win the NFC, please let me know. That's as good a bet as you'll ever see.

  • Peer preassure is a bitch huh chaz?

"buuuuuttttt cheeeeeees, you're soooo niiiiice to theeeeeem. You've actually been adding vaaaaaalue and have brought up goooood pooooints, instead of just being a tuuuurd and dropping our awesome mantra all the time. Bears still suuuuuuck...

You better stop that and act like the rest of us mororns maaaaan! OKaaaay!!!!???"

Oh, and this is what the white fucking safety fund is SUPPOSED to look like Angelo you clownshit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pGlPedni8Q

  • Stafford fucking dead

  • Big, huge, massive, enormous, game tonight fella's. All of this Lion love is making me fucking sick. They are not that good. We will expose them tonight, the same way The Big Cheese exposes himself outside of grade schools.

  • 8 year olds dude

  • there is only one way we lose this game and that is if Martz comes out 7 steps all day and gets Cutler hurt or we get pick 6'd or sack fumble right off the bat.

If we run the ball and screen to Forte and move the pocket and stop the big play we win this game easy.

Lions are on a decent run but easily could have dropped 3 out of 4 of those games. easily. Time to wake those motherfuckers up from dreamland.

  • In reply to Gucci Mang:

Give me some of that "Purple Drank" Johnny.

  • the NCAA need to shoot themselves in the head. This is inane...

  • In reply to MB30SD:

That was retarded - and to call it on the punter???? For turning and holding his arms out? C'mon man.

That rule needs to be taken off the books.

  • Shock alert... are you sitting down?

    Peter King picked against us.

National media is going to talk and talk about the last time Detroit was on MNF (2008, against Rams, lost 35-0) and how this is the Detroit show. Jaws will have his lip gloss on, and Chucky too.

My odds? This game is a coin toss. I literally have no idea. Nothing that happens will be a surprise, because I think anything could happen.

Here's what I know about Briggs tweet: 2-3 against two teams that are 5-0 doesn't put you three games back Lance. It puts you at least 5 games out, probably more.

The helecopter is lifting off on this season. It's time to lay all out and grab the rope ladder.

what in THEEEE fuck is this!??!?!

Oh, and 100% agree GP. We lose this one and it's a slippery slope, because 3 teams from the NFCN ain't all going to the playoffs maings.

  • I think "Fat Axl Rose" is a great name for a band. The first album could be called "Appetite for Turkey Dinner."

  • In reply to gpldan:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

my god, he is fat... fat as hell!

  • We will win tonight.

    Bear Down!!

  • My wife didn't want to name our new boy Axl, for some reason. Maybe she'll like Fat Axl better.

Man. I don't know how your Centrallers or East-coasters do it. The wait is brutal. But I've never had to wait until 8 or 9 to watch a bears game. It's three oclock here and I can barely stand it. You sons-a-bitches have been nervously awake for 2 to 3 more hours than me. How DO you do it?

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

games on at 1:30 am local time here, how do you think i feel? I hate when the bears get the night games....

  • I dont want to come on here and say I have a bad feeling about the game tonight, but does anybody else have a bad feeling about the game tonight?

  • In reply to Shady:

Unfortunately, I haven't felt confident of a win in several years. I know the Bears can win. I just don't know that they will.

Pass rush, limit the mistakes on the O-Line, run the ball and control the clock, & leave the pages with the 7 step drops, and Wild Cat plays on the bus.

Make the Detroit front seven run back and forth from sideline to sideline chasing Forte and Hester for a half and lets see how effective they are in the second half.

    Bear Down

  • By the way, I'm not sure what's more volatile, the Bears Fan confidence index near the top of the page or the s&p 500 index.

  • I hear the argument that the Lions squeaked out three of their wins that they easily coulda/shoulda lost. Thing is though, They're 4-0 and winning against adversity (early deficits). That's the mark of a good team. It's a 4 quarter game. Seems eerily similar to the Bears of yesteryear. 4-1 to start, coulda/shoulda lost the Detroit and GB games. Nobody believed in us. And what did we say? "Turnovers are part of our formula", "Scoring on D and specials is part of our formula.", "It's a 4 quarter game.", "The wins are what counts.". No I'm not saying that the Lions ARE all that, but in football, like The Tuna said, your are as good as your record. We're 2-2. They're 4-0 at home. Make no mistake about it. This game is BIG and we have our work cut out for us.

    Bear The Fuck Down!

  • Tonights game is of the type that burns an image into the nations psyche
for so long we have had an image that is less than stellar
    among freinds in swfla. we have a 3rd tier image;
    2nd with a great D
all they ever praise ...special teams

I am in the locker room now
    this bodies spent and sore
i left it all out there in the jungle
took some sting out of these football jones's
I even took it to the roof of the house
cleaned the bamboo leaves from the gutters

I expect maximum effort from the whole team
    4 Qtrs. worth
    I hope for change in:
    Missed assignments
    National perception

Tonight Jay Cutler, leads an army of Tough Son's of Bitches
An army with a heart; from the old religions
Straight outta' "Foxes' Book of Martyrs"
ready to give their life for the cause

Oh, the hours Jay spends in Ford's Coliseaum.
    Dodging Lions and buyin' time
Ohthose mighty kings of the jungle.
I could hardly stand to see'em,
Yes, it sure has been a longm, hard climb.
Tonight, everything is gonna' be smooth like a rhapsody
    When Jay paints his masterpiece.

  • Wow. THAT was a helluva first quarter. I mean, when I saw the bears offense march down to the 35 I told my wife, "We're one defensive penalty away from field goal range!".

Not predictable at all. I told my wife, "Lovie will challenge that spot, lose the challenge, and cost us our last time out." Boy was I wrong. Man, WHAT. A. GAME!

What's next? A Calvin Johnson TD?
