Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears Game Thread

Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears Game Thread

There are some, mostly wearing the navy and orange, claiming today's contest with the Carolina Panthers is not a must win.  Maybe they're being political.  Maybe they're trying to relinquish the pressure placed on their backs after two embarrassing performances, specifically on the offensive end.  There is only one thing I know for sure: they are lying.

If the Bears lose to the Panthers today it will reverberate throughout the organization for many weeks to come.  If they beat the Panthers, as I expect them to, it will stabilize the organization (even if only for a moment) and send them into Detroit next Monday night knowing they can seize the 2011 season with an inspired performance on the road in primetime.

Today is absolutely a must win.

  • Frankly, I can't understand how anybody with a functioning brain can NOTdescribe this game as a MUST win.

  • Can they afford to go to 1-3?

Can they afford to lose a 2nd consecutive home game?

Can they afford a THIRD conference loss?

Can this be characterized as ANYTHING but a "Must win?

  • I don't expect them to beat the Panthers. I don't expect this roster to beat anybody. We might win, if the defense has a great day.

So Johnny Knox replaces Roy Williams as starter ? Why not? He's had an amazing three-catch per game average so far which makes him a star receiver with those numbers ....

No more injuries is all we can hope for until we get Carimi and the rest back in the mix. Interesting to see if they start Spaeth over Davis too.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

I believe spaeth is out today sir

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Holy schnikies. Did we cut Dez yet? At least Barber should be in. He might be a big piece of what we've been missing in the first three games. Somebody in the backfield who can block.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

I think the Bears should be patient with Williams. The line's inability to protect Cutler has created timing problems w/ the receivers. Although no excuse for dropped passes as(if) the line improves their protection of Cutler, you should see significant increase in production from Williams. It's Week 3, still early and I expect big games coming from Williams in the future, despite what Joe Theisman thinks.

  • In reply to Curtis Shaw Flagg:

Week 4 sorry, but still early!

  • In reply to Curtis Shaw Flagg:

I don't get that logic at all curt.

The ball hit him in the hands on the last 3 throws and he dropped all of them... one for a TD. How does more time improve his hands?

  • Heard part of an interview with Ron Rivera Thursday (Dan Patrick, I believe). Patrick, of course, wanted to hear Rivera say how this was a big "revenge game" and how the Bears screwed him over but Rivera would have none of it. He was classy all the way (no surprise) and went out of his way to say Lovie helped him even after they parted company. He also say, yeah, this is a big game for him but refused to characterize it as vengeful.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Yep al... heard a similar interview. Chico was nothing but class. We'll see how he does as an nfl HC, but maybe in the next couple of years if he does well ... he should come home and replace the man who had him replaced.

    Just sayin

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

he will always be a bear
    and a smart coach

  • BTW TheFifth, reminder to get your picks in...

I don't know... the phrase "must win" is way over-used. A "must win" to me means you lose and your season is over. Yeah I know some would argue the season would basically be over if they lose this one. But season over should mean over, not just hanging by a thread. Losing this game wouldn't even be as dire as hanging by a thread. But whatever, it's all just semantics.

The point is that this is the kind of team they need to beat 9 times out of 10. Winning gives you confidence they are that team, while losing makes lose confidence. That's all. Either way, it only affects who we think they are, not who they are. BEAR DOWN...

  • Have no clue what is going to happen the rest of the season. We beat ourselves with stupid penalties, dropped passes and bad throws last week and the play calling was just plain horeshit. It almost seems that all any defense has to do is toss in an extra pass rusher on a blitz and they got us.
It could do just about anything the rest of the season. Who knows.

  • Show of hands. Who thinks this is NOT a must win?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    I don't know....
to ME personally, EVERY game is a MUST-WIN because you never know which loss will come an bite you in the ass later in the season....
(see last regular season game vs. the pack last yr.)

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

my hands are in my pockets

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

The Packers and Lions are about to go 4-0. We can't outscore the Lions offense. Must-win.

  • Technically not a "must win", but things would surely get ugly at Halas Hall.

  • Bears have too many playmakers to lose this game. Peppers, Lach, Briggs, Nut, Cut, Forte and Hester are too talented for the Bears to lose this one. The question is whether the coaches will put them in positions to maximize their abilities.

  • In reply to Shady:

    Is Earl the Pearl back?

  • In reply to gpldan:

nope. inactives: Harris, Enderle, Bennett, Spaeth, Addison, Paea, Garimi

both Barber and Wooten active for 1st time this season.

  • In reply to SoILBearsFan:

    Holy shit... oh no!

Enderle is OUT!!!?!??!! Oh my god, how will we make it through this game? Jerry must be freaking out.

What, did he get carpel tunnel from holding the clipboard?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Thank god we drafted Enderle and not James Starks who was at the top of our draft board.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Looks like The Duke is still out with a chest.

  • Not only is this a must-win, this is a must-win-convincingly. This is a must-blow-out.

  • Indeed, it sure is good to be from Wisconsin, the land of winners: Brewers, Packers, and Badgers. Life is good in god's country. Too bad the inferior teams residing in Wisconsin's southern sewer are utterly useless, much like everything else in the state of illinois ( and shitcago in particular). Hell, the Wisconsin Badgers have more talent than shitcago's emBEARASSingly poor excuse for a football team. Face it, your team is of Division III quality.....

  • In reply to greenbayman:

    What comes around goes around.

  • In reply to greenbayman:

don't you have a cousin/sister/uncle to fuck for your pregame ritual....

    scat ya fuckin' jagoff.....

  • In reply to greenbayman:

    hey gb
would you mind repeating that to your former badgers face

  • yo, what up blog!?

Must win? I think our next 3 games are "must win" in that falling behind the Fudge by 3 games and the tie-breaker (thus far) is inconceivable.

Just heard the Jim Brown seg on Fox and it gave me goosebumps "Football has always been about adversity, and more specifically, about who has the fortitude to overcome adversity, who has the will power to pick themselves up?"

Can we suit that man up? I'm pretty sure he can gain more than 13 rushing yards.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

It's easy for him to say that now and for us to think he still is made of that kind of fire, BUT...

Jim Brown walked away from football... he didn't have the willpower to stay on the field in the prime of his career or the fortitude to show up to camp on time, instead opting to pursue his acting career.

  • also, enigma game of the week:

talk about the ying and yang of the football universe...something about this game symbolizes the eternal struggle of good-vs-evil, and even scarier? I'm unsure which is which lol

  • In reply to 4ever85:

Great post. Dang, that is a great point.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

Raiders could easily upset the Pats here.

  • Today is my boy's 6th birthday. I am moments away from giving him his first fishing pole. I don't who's more excited, me or him.

    Happy Birthday, Boy.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

That first day out on the water with that new pole, the first fish! Special times Doc. My boy is 33 and he still makes me smile when we fish!

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Little boys and their poles. Brins a tear to my eye Murph! Happy birthday baby Doc.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

Oh, and a Happy Birthday to "Baby Doc"

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

    now this is livin'
let me know about the smile
    when he lands his first
    happy birthday little doc

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

That's awesome, Doc - few things better in life than getting to go fishing with your dad.

The Bears need to put together a complete effort on both sides of the ball, just like week 1. I expect Olsen to get yards, but not tds, and for Cam to throw multiple picks to Meriweather.

Bear Down, folks - we win this one and then it's, dare I say it, a huge game against the Lions in week 5. Buckle up.

  • Bears 23, Panthers 13.
Go Bears today. Jeff, you'd be proud. Gonna do the 20 minute walk to the tavern with beer in hand, and stumble home after a proud victory unless the owner gives me a ride.
Have a good game boys and girls.

  • BOTH cbs and fox "experts" predicting Martz will run the ball more...we'll see...

  • I believe this is a must "show me something" game. If the Bears show us they can perform at a high level and lose that's one thing, but if they show us they are who their record says they are then, "forget about it", season over.

  • good points by a SB winning coach...

Bears have most 3 and outs...

Bears give up a lot of sacks

Bears drop a lot of passes

    Bears don't run the ball

    Bears most offides

    Thus, most three and outs

    And ineffective O.

    Protect qb.
    Run the ball.
    Catch the ball.
    Stop making mistakes!

    seems simple enough.

  • For those who need a link:

greg_punzo is the guy on twitter who has the best, most reliable feeds

  • I love you.

Good drive by Cam - Ilike this guy. Let's match him Jay ....

  • Our defensive scheme blows.

  • The Bears sucky turf is our best D apparently

  • Gettin played like a violin. Suck.

  • a better QB would have had that throw. moore got smoked.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The throw was good, the WR just slipped. Cam actually looks sharp today.

  • Bears D-Line getting manhandled in the run and not getting pressure when Newton drops back. Not a great start, good thing Carolina shot themselves in the foot with those dumb penalties.

  • That D-series was awful!

  • Ok, so Willie, MBP... the sunday ticket is bad ass... now all they need to do is substiture these gay fucking commercials with on field miced players.

Although I do love the etrade baby:

  • after everybody cleared out of the joint
there was still a huddle goin on in the locker room last sun. night
4 veteran lineman; standin in there towels, jawin' over a few things
    a reporter asked, "what's up"
"just talkin about the game," pep said
"we know who we are," idonije said. "Now let's go out and get better."
passed over going into the season
never repeat as NFC North champs
the talk of their demise, doesn't shake this group
"It will show the character of the men on this team,"Idonije said
"We really shot ourselves in the foot. We played some good teams, absolutely."
"But, have they come out and physically abused us? NO! We made alot of uncharacteristic mistakes. Real character is when you put yourself in a hole; and you dig, and climb out of it."

    Gentleman where have we been?
Can't find the hole where we got in
We ain't had no letters since spring
    Gentleman where have we been?
    Ain't going nowhere now

Fill the dirt back on the grave
Ain't nothing good here being raised
Look at the filthy mess we've made
Fill the dirt back on the grave

We cut the fruit, we took the tree
We chiseled all the branches free
We took more fruit than we'd ever need

  • See that Martz!!!!!

  • Huge block by Clutts on the outside on that long double deuce run.

  • In reply to Shady:

    saw that shady. nice.

  • Damn Matt! Followed by I-formation? Wow.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    how's that irish.

    Remember the I?

  • Who dem Bears?

  • the run is going to be there all day. we should run every single down and just rack up fucking 400 yards

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Liking this.

  • Would love to see some stats from the last two games regarding the run with/without Clutts in. I don't remember seeing him the last 2 games at all.

  • In reply to Vicp71:

Fluffed a lot of his lines according to OBR. Blew hot and cold in the blocking game.

If they can't stop us running, we'll pound them. They're missing Beason bigtime.

  • Did we literally just run every play down the field?

  • Nice drive, but the Bears need to FINISH those drives with TDs!

  • a fucking naked QB dive? Fucking really martz? Really?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

that was fucking retarded man. Wtf is wrong with that guy?!?!?! Go back to that play to Davis on the fake that cutty overthrew the second game.

Wow, what happens if cutty blows out his knee on that play?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    that guy = martz

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Isn't that why we picked up Marion Barber? Why punish Cutler's body more with a hit on the goal line.

  • In reply to Vicp71:

  • running the ball against a depleted LB core with Barber back - just what the doctor ordered.

Our D wasn't all that impressive though. If anyone knows how to exploit it, it's Rivera, Steve Smith and Olsen.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

we'll see 85... don't we pretty much always give up points on the first drive?

  • Not thrilled with the play call either, does Cutler really need to take another hit? If you're gonna run the ball on the goal line, give it to Marion the barBEARian.

The defense needs a better effort here against the run.

  • spencer to the locker room with a hand injury

  • chris spencer hand injury... and corey grahm getting ancle taped

  • Did she say we lost 'center' Chris Spencer?

  • Chris Spencer down with a hammy.

  • In reply to Shady:

  • That's what the doctor ordered, pick 6 motherfuckaaaa!

  • lions got spanked by dallas on the first drive... dallas

  • In reply to MB30SD:

About to get spanked on the second too ...

  • that will shake some confidence from his skin

  • Okay, let's start talking Detroit .... game over.

  • I can't figure moore man. Dude's a damn ball hawk, but not great in coverage and I never see the guy with lots of tackles. Hmmm...

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Johnny on the spot.

  • In reply to Shady:

yep. just wish he was better in coverage

  • legadooooo

  • Detroit stop Dallas 4th and Goal. Beautiful. Go kitties!

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

See that's when I don't get fantasy man... rooting FOR the lions?!?!?

Oh wait, you're trying to clothe your kids with betting this year aren't you. Still...

    THAT was terrible man.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Sorry mang, I've got DET, SD, HOU, BUF, NO today .... 8-1.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    Fuck Detroit.

  • In reply to Shady:

+ a whole lot... fuck them in the face.

  • is merriweather slow?

  • so wait, you hurt your hand and you don't get a club taped onto it and get back in there? Pussy.

  • What is this 2005?

  • Once again burned this season by bad safety play.

  • Did I mention Tim Jenning sucks donleys?

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

that was the safety Irish, not the corner. Wasn't man/man... there was supposed to be safety help over the top.

We need harris back BADLY man. Wow.

  • FAIRWEATHER defense

  • denied bitch

  • Defense looks very ordinary and very very vulnerable.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

we don't have a decent safety amongst the lot Murph... for the 4th year in a row. That will kill you every time.

We should have kept manning... and losing hit man to an injury is killing us.

    Thanks again Jerry!

  • No pass rush whatsoever. Jennings on a true #1 receiver and embarrassing safety play. Looks like Offense will have to bail out D today.

  • Laugher huh? 10-10. The Bears have not been able to set the tone of a game in a long time. I miss having a team with identity.

  • that one's on the lack of support from the new guy
the defense taketh away and giveth
the offense is gonna have to pull this out

  • no no no yes yes yes haha

  • In reply to Shady:

how do they let the kicker tackle Hester? Wilson Venable should have taken him out, I don;t know why he was looking back.

  • nice facial on the kicker by hester

  • conte is fucking usless man.

  • that's the ticket' nice ball from cutler

  • Not the kicker Devin, not the kicker ....

  • brutal he didn't take that. weak

  • we can run on these guys all day man... all day.

  • garza and williams earning their keep

    He caught it!!!!!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

5 drops in a row would be way too much

  • Pretty sure Kellen Davis took out two defenders with one block on that Forte TD. Nice!

  • Who's in for spencer?

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    Gotta be your man LL

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    louis I think

  • Nice block Chris Williams!

  • someone pancaked a fool on that play

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I think it might have been omelete!!! Is that possible?

  • what was that 'tackle' hurd?

  • zero preassure. what is the deal with the dline man?

Supposed to be the best, deepest unit on the entire team???

  • Shabba scores for Minnesota.

  • Laugher? hehehhehe

  • happy bday little doc btw

  • alll day back there.

  • The Bears have reclaimed their identity. You are ridiculous Devin Hester.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

Wow, that was easy Trac. flippity floppity in the span of 10 minutes mang.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Show me the money MB. Still not over.

  • I can not believe these guys can't fucking control themselves and not get 15 for excessive celeb.

  • Jeez, why don't we just rush two and drop the rest into coverage?

  • In reply to 4ever85:

if we're not gonna get any sort of pressure...

  • In reply to 4ever85:

we're not... that I can see.

  • guy just said that panthers don't have good punt coverage
    step aside eric metcalf
    another record
    and another 15 yrd penalty

  • Devin Hester. Return man. I was listening to Joniak and watching the feed so I heard it before I saw it but it's all good.

We might actually beat Detroit next week the way both teams are playing.

  • this is about to turn into a BLOW-out

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • tony romo hits des briant for second td
    14-0 boys

  • SWEEEEET.... =)

  • wtf is up with our kickoffs?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

15 yd. penalty enforced on the kickoff. Too many somersaults.

  • smith wiiiiiiide open again.

that one was on the corner

  • are we going to let smith kill us again? honestly?

  • WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!

  • Matt Toeina that was a pathetic attempt at a tackle.

  • pressure need pressure

  • can't let them score here. need a take away

  • smith with over 100 yards already.

  • duh, common man. I could have fucking called that.

    D is sucking man.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

A loss would almost be worth your post game rant MB. I said almost.

  • Like i said the offense has to pull this out

how about some real time defensive adjustments
    should we blitz a bit?

  • 12th play
    11 runs 1 pass

  • omlette?????????
    c'mon man

  • That's 1 sack MB.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

dude common Trac, are you a packers fan now?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Ok, ok, I'll stop it. Can't help it MB, the worm has turned for me already. I know it's only week 4 but I'm sick and tired of the lackluster performances. I guess I'm calling it like I see it, minus the rose colored glasses.

  • Omiyale sucks!!!

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Most accurate post of this game... at least so far

  • looks like martz is pushing the run game down our throats...

as i type this...cutler got sacked...

  • garza???????
    c'mon man

  • move the pocket and quit the 7 step crap martz

  • weak. common Martz... when something is working, why are you not staying on it?

  • we need to blitz this series

  • Steve Smith is an asshole! I'd take a late hit on that fucker to get him to quit acting like an asshole.

  • wait smith was open???? really???? nice work guys. fucken a, is our dbackfield serious right now?

  • is pep hurt?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    not according to radio
    louis replaced spencer

  • In reply to MB30SD:

IDK but he's not giving a whole lot of effort out there.

  • In reply to Shady:

yeah man... been watching him. nothing.

  • tice is chewin some ass on the sidelines
they need to play 4 qtrs

  • dude, the d is SUCKING man. not happy

  • Here's a thought. Martz abandons the run and we lose the game. What then?

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    fire martz

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

parade him through the streets of the city unattended
    after passing out his photo
with some damaging info on it

  • newton isn't bothered by pressure alone

  • pep is NOT 100% man.

  • radio say's pep is not going all out
but staying in a tackling mode to negate newts running
    playing tentative

  • olsen got BLASTED!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    that one's for you

  • So far, Bears have 136 yards of total offense to Carolina's 246 yards, 19 minutes time of possession in first half.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

marinelli is getting outschemed by rivera

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

    Correction, 299 yds/Carolina to 144 yds/Chicago.

  • how the fuck is this game so close????

Man, D killing us now. Same thing as last year... one side of the ball decides not to show up every game. Fuck man.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I have more faith in the Defense making an adjustment in the second half opposed to the offense.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

b4 the game, they flip a coin,

    "Tails you suck today, D

    Heads, you suck today, O

In the event of a Twilight Zone landing on the side, both suck

Ready? call it in the air..."

  • I can't believe we blew a 24-10 lead.. Defense is atrocious today.

  • Panthers have 19 minutes of posession in the half?

  • loivie report
can't let recievers get behind us
    we haven't played well defensively

    two brilliant assesments

  • All Cam Newton has done in his first 3 games is bomb the ball downfield to S.Smith and scramble in the Red why can't we stop it??? Do the bears watch game tapes???

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

Show them the playoff tape from the game where Steve Smith torched us. Its a freakin repeat.

  • 17-3 boys

  • Detroit's defense sucks.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

They haven't challenged the Cowboys receivers once. Not once. Romo is completing slants all day long.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Yeah I'll take Suh on my defense.

  • Bears offense came out of the half last week with a pathetic 3 and out, let's see if they can improve on that effort.

  • In reply to Shady:

    much better.

  • Omelette benched. Good start.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    who took his spot?

  • Fuck me catch the ball Sanzenwaddle!

  • In reply to Shady:

He's Cutler's new 3rd down target. Unfortunately, his hands are not Bennett.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

If I'm remembering right, that play was not the best of throws

  • pringles sucks.

  • Major Wrong looks terrible in run support, bears getting gashed again. Halftime adjustment much?

  • What the hell is up with the D getting gashed for long runs? If special teams hadn't of come up big in the first half this game is 20-10 not 24 to 20 and the Panthers offense is not being slowed down.

  • our D is HORRIBLE.

  • nut just got jock-strapped

  • Telegraph. Detroit Lions.

Losing game stop might want to try covering Laurent Robinson sometime stop every fucking pass play is a slant to robinson stop fuck my life stop

  • panthers 19 rushes at 7 yds per

  • wow, this isn't the d of last year man... not. even. close.

  • The D is getting gassed. Way too much time on the field.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

When you cannot stop the other team. yeah, you get gassed.

  • where is wooten?

  • In reply to huntinbare:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • all the time in the world

  • The offense is going to have to bail out the D today. Please hit Newton they are all around him but he hasn't been hit yet.

  • Bears look like they're afraid to tackle Cam Newton. C'MON!

  • In reply to Shady:

they were too busy tackling each other. pathetic. what the fuck is ging on with this D man?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

They look neutered. At least the specials are making up for it a bit.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

What's going on is Lovie isn't the kind of coach to tell his players to take a few 15-yarders out on Newton's head.

  • maybe we should try something different to get to newton

  • this team cannot tackle anyone

  • Bend but don't break....The problem is the D is getting gassed. The O needs to give them a break with a long methodical drive ending a TD.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

Thing is we do break, anytime they go after Jennings.

  • Dude.. our defense is sucking it up.

Hey Marnielli, why don't you make the dline shoot some gaps so that you can contain him.. like we did against Vick. Sheesh

  • HUGE!

  • jennings got smoked.

sorry. starting to look like we're not nearly as good as we were last year mangs. The D is just bad.

  • this bend don't break ain't workin
    thank you toub
the only coach who came to play with his squad
can this guy please give the m@m brothers some words of wisdom

  • 46 plays for carl.
    26 for the bears

  • Doesn't look like Detroit is coming back this week folks.

  • In reply to Shady:

We'll kick the shit out of them next week Shady. All we have to do is keep throwing slants to the same receiver. They can't figure it out. If Cutler throws quick slants to Sanzenbacher and nobody else, we win the ball game. Run it occasionally to mix it up some, they just can't figure it out.

  • Our fucking line sucks. Cutler doesn't have 2 seconds to get a pass off.

  • dare I say, Our O needs to carry or D?

    Scary proposition...

  • can we get some energy today that is cosistent
on both sides of the ball
knox we'll have some more of that

  • Lance Louis looks pretty good at that right tackle spot.

  • is barber dinged up again
    he disappeared

  • How many play action passes have we ran today? Seems like every pass is a 5-7 step drop in obvious passing situations.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

    shocking isn't it?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

We start successfully running the ball and don't take advantage of a run fake.

  • This game tells me we need to hold on really tight for a wild card..because this game is not inspiring and I do hope we can draft or pick up some people soon..

  • In reply to Artoo:

That's what I feel like Artoo. I'm just so sick and tired of no nothing football. How can it be so hard to build a solid program in Chicago. Sigh. Woe is me.

  • In reply to Artoo:

    wildcard? wildcard? wildcard?!?!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

You really think we will beat Rodger's at his place?

I can see a old defense and a oline that cannot block.

    Sorry. 9-7 hopefully.

  • In reply to Artoo:

Who does our drafting again? That dude who's been sucking at it for ten years ... em ... looks like a geebag and walks around with a shitty grin on his face all the time .... total loser ... Angie .. .that's it.

The Lions comeback is on. Thank you Bobby Carpenter. Baby Jebus, babies need new shoes ....

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Don't remind me and we do not want Detroit to win.. they will take our spot if they win.

  • Damn good kick by Podlesh but that shoulder doesn't look good for Hester. Where the hell is Roy Williams on the 3rd and long situations? They don't need to throw the ball down the field and get it all in one big chunk. 10-11 yards is fine.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

    i agree

  • Listen I love Devin, but he's not a #1 or #2 WR. The experiment is over Angelo!

  • Hester will never catch a well contested pass. The guy can not fight for a catch.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

    he can't fight a cold

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Yet we risk the GOAT at returning in the pass game week in week out ....

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Fuck that. That was some pretty good defense

  • we have alot of work ahead of us
tons of stuff to clean up

  • In reply to huntinbare:

it's the 4th fucking game of the season hunti. I'm slowly starting to think it's a matter of 'not good' not 'not prepared'

  • In reply to MB30SD:

i am leaning toward not prepared
    too many mistakes

  • Newton is going to be a star in this league. He is a lot better than people thought he was going to be.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

    Damn straight

  • You wanted a blitz and you see the consequences. Our corners are not good enough for 1on1 situations.

  • we are not well disciplined
    this is horrible

  • steve smith 7 catches
    154 yds
too bad hester is getting worked on
he needs to be taking notes

  • In reply to huntinbare:

Hester has one skill. Returning kicks. One trick pony if I ever saw one.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

The greatest trick of all time in fairness ....

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

  • Bad news when Bowman comes in for coverage.

  • In reply to Vicp71:

    He's better than Jennings.

  • good season to spend $400 on DTV. fuck me.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I'm sorry MB but I can't help but laugh cause I feel your pain. I'm sad to say that I'm already at the point of wanting the Bears to play for a high draft pick. Sarcasm is all I have left with this bunch.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

The horrible thing is that Angela would flush those picks down the toilet.

  • Things that I hate....Cut back runs against our D, Steve Smith catching pass after pass against us...and our inability to get pressure on newton and make him look like a star (before his time...unfortunately he's gonna be a good one i think...) BEAR the FUCK DOWN!!!!!

  • I think the defense was on the field for 90% of the 3rd quarter. The offense needs to put together a drive NOW.

  • In reply to Shady:

Yeah, because they could not make the Panthers punt.

  • offense's passing game sucks.... no one to throw the ball to or catch.

  • 12 straight qrts. of scoring on lovie smith
longest scoring streak against bears while lovie is head

  • Adjustments at half time? The Panthers made them and the Bears can't run the ball any longer.

  • There ya go, turnover in time for Carolina to take the lead. This team is just not very good. I want them to be but they are not.

  • Happy Feet again Cutler, you Mother Fucker!

  • Fuck, terrible time for an INT.

  • detroit just scored... and we're about to go down.

Holy shit... I hate to say this because I've been trying to stay positive, but we're..... not. good.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Your wrong. We are good. We are not great.

  • In reply to Artoo:

no, I am right. And no, we're not even good.

  • This is getting old. Defense.. you need to stop relying on the refs to give you a break.

  • Second interception return by the Lions !! YES !! F**k you Romo !! Yes!!!

We return you to your normal programming ...

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

dude, you're starting to piss me off man. Go past that shit on your fantasy fucking boards.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    +1 MB

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    maybe they can't run either
    pep don't give up
even though they are holding ya

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

If the Lions come back again I'll shit a brick.

  • In reply to Shady:

So will I. Except it will be made of pure gold. Ha.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Keep it coming Irish. I'll take anything over this torture.

  • In other news Tony Romo is trying to give the game back to Detroit with two pick sixes.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

When Romo starts to shit the bed he really squeezes it out ....

  • this is what happens when your O line doesn't excel on run blocking
they came out with no push on first down again

i need to get some wine to numb my mind
    i am happy I can't see this

we don't seem to have any power

  • Cutty threw an INT? I'm glued to the Lions game.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

see above... stop bringing that shit while we;'re getting smoked douche. Fucken a irish.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

no this makes it more exciting
it's a much better ride this way
sit back hold on and enjoy this
we waited a long time to get
    the juice flowin
send some to the boys they need some MOJO

  • In reply to MB30SD:

and yes, I want the whle management canned as much as you do, but we'll have enough packer idiots talking smack here soon enough without our own doing it.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    who cares
theres always garbage on every street
    throw it away

  • In reply to MB30SD:

We were smoked before the game started, mang. No roster, see?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Irish and I have sitting on our frustration for too long. I can't contain my contempt any more. Is that bad?

  • oh g look, a run gets a 5 yards. amazing huh martz

  • Anyone else notice Williams has not been on the field? He didn't see the field last series.

  • In reply to Vicp71:

    fingernail damage

  • In reply to huntinbare:

Either that or a severely bruised ego for all the Sanzendouche targets on 3rd downs.

  • 6 first down run
    first 4
    9 yds
    that was 5
    get with it you hogs
    this is the stockyards
and they want to slaughter you

  • oh look, another run, another 1st. Martz... incredible huh?

  • Does anyone think that our oline is so bad but Forte can actually get something?

This oline is horrible. Flat out.

  • In reply to Artoo:

no, you're wrong. They're not horrible, they're pathetic.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Thank you, I need that.

  • This offense is such a clusterfuck.

  • In reply to Shady:

offense? Then what does that make our D?

  • lewis in at tight end
omlette also in on that first down result

  • Case in point.

  • challenge the spot lovie

  • What are a garbage spot.

  • bruise em
    pound it to barber

  • They should have paid Forte before the season. He is the Bears offense.

  • barber is hurt again... hasn't been out since 1st Q

  • In reply to MB30SD:

oh thank god. Not hurt... just not used.

  • nice bag by knox

  • I have this sinking feeling we get a FG then blow a coverage and Smith scores a big TD. I wish I had more confidence in this team but it is hard to based on the way they have played.

  • Nice catch Knox, way to hang on.

  • Without Forte or Hester. This game would have been a ass kicking from Carolina. Two guys played lights out today.

  • cutty is sailing most of his throws man.

  • 10 play drive longest of the day

forte's freelance went away from 3 blockers

  • paging anderson... your jock is on the field

  • Can Angelo bust out the checkbook please. Forte making 6 digits is awful.

  • dodgy call man.

  • Lovie you fuck. Clock management! Burned 2 timeouts by being a lazy fuck with the calls!

  • the coaches are idiots...

  • WTF, that is two timeouts called after not managing the play clock correctly and confusion on the offensive side.

  • this is good for confidence down the road if they complete the 6
a mid 4th qtr dr that is about a dozen plays
their d needed that time out
    this is bad execution

  • wow, this has been a TERRIBLY coached game.

  • How long does it take to get a fucking call in?! What the fuck is going on between Martz and leprechaun Shane Day that they can't get a play call in before they have to call their last damn time out!? Fuck that pisses me off.

  • In reply to Shady:

there is shakey play from top to bottom

  • Let's see how the D does with more than a 2 minute rest.

  • they will need to do that 1 more time to win

  • man, I don't know guys. We don't look like a playoff team as much as I want them to be.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I am hoping for a wildcard berth. This first quarter of the season is not inspiring.

  • corey graham has open field tackling down

  • how would you characterize carolina? 8-8 mediocre?

I'll tell you what... next year they will be a contender with some of their guys back and year under Cam's belt.

And we have to look forward to....

  • limited ydg. on 1st dwn play

  • Glad I started Cutler in FF today. One freakin point, I also started Forte and he has been good for 22. The D needs a turnover here.

In the Detroit game they just made it a game with another TD. Romo will find a way to let them win.

  • The Bears have stumbled into the lead all day thanks to our special teams.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

this is how it looked to grossman too

  • wow, showing a lot of futbol on fox

  • hey, how many catches/yards/tds does girlythor have today?

  • There ya go Briggsy!

  • 3 and out
the D- boys are still playin strong
after being run around all day

  • briggsy baby!

  • Hit power.. Lance Briggs

  • hunti, is that you in your avatar? You ARE a hippy man.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

is that what all this hair gets me
    ain't no shame in that
although this body has done shameful things

  • no wimp at all in forte
that was paytonesque, takin the hit
    and rollin the clock

  • Jesus Megatron is fucking ridiculous.

  • In reply to Shady:

yeah, fuck man. can't believe the shitty cowgirls are going to give up that lead... well, actually. yes, I can.

  • In reply to Shady:

Into triple coverage he out jumps them all. He is going to give our midgets fits next week.

  • Bears D just showed again this year why they are underrated. Make no mistake, this team is not out of contention by any stretch.

Haters will of course say "oh, this is the Panthers" and all that faggy crap.

    BEAR DOWN bitches.

  • In reply to Bender McLugh:

Have you even been watching the game?

  • Rest easy boys, Martz finally figured out our game plan. Forte on the ground from here on out.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

    +1 (one what?)

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

when they learn to co-ordinate the backs with the blocking this can be a proven commodity
the guy on the radio said that both barber and forte
    failed to get major yards
    when not following the blocking

  • In reply to huntinbare:

bullshit, Forte made how many defenders miss today?

  • kick it!

  • Ooops, I was wrong. Keep the damn ball on the ground Martz.

  • Hester is no help on the field as a WR.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

I think he helps as a major distraction. But yeah, he's no #1 receiver

  • if these recievers aren't carrying the ball around 24-7
    next week

  • awesome.

  • fuck man, we better figure something out on D before we go into detroit next week. Fuck.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    settle down

  • In reply to MB30SD:

completely agreed, not sure what the issue is with the pass rush, not many clean rushes at the QB

  • hurried by the blitz?
    what a concept

  • how the fuck do you let olsen catch that? Wright can't do shit

  • Peprika is coming hard...

  • fuck, nut was coming in to fucking destory newton

  • did melton make him disappear?

  • Is it just me but how can there have not been a holding call anywhere in the last few series? I see guys with their hands wrapped around the Bears shoulder pads even twisting them.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

guy on radio says that ref has been on wrong side of holding several times on pep

says pep has been jawin at ref alot all day
I can't see how a respected player like him would not get the benefit; or throw his teammates a bone

  • I like limited Cutler in the offense. If the Bears can keep Cutler as a second option and still be effective offensively, that is a huge plus.

  • Not exactly a convincing victory. Serious questions on both sides of the ball still persist.

  • In reply to Shady:

  • In reply to Shady:

but, we have some light trying to turn the darkness into a shadowy atmosphere
it is still hard to see anything championship in this soup
    but, we turned it around

  • Forte. Without him.. we lose.

  • That's all she wrote boys. No way the Bears will mess this up now. I'm calling it, Bears 2-2.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

going out on a limb trac? Ha!

  • gotta love seeing Forte going off

  • What shouldn't be lost in this game is Clutts. The dude laid down some big blocks for Forte to bust those long runs.

  • clutts blew that fool up man.

  • THAT is the kind of SY and GL rushing we need RIGHT there.

    BooYah the barbarian!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

did you see his faceplant? Hahahaha!

Yeah, dude, maybe not do the flip with the calf? Maybe?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    That's what I thought!!! Wth

  • Hester doing somersaults, Barber doing back flips, what next, Cutler doing cartwheels?

  • In reply to Shady:

BAAAhahahahaha... the little girls ones that don't finish?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Cutler can't do that.. you know his fav thing to do is lie on his back.

  • In reply to Artoo:

  • In reply to Shady:

i don't start watchin till the 10th TD
    then they are doin something

  • In reply to Shady:

Shane Day on the pommel horse and Tice on da rings.

  • olsen clocking some yards in garbage

  • Carolina trying to cover the spread with a TD late here.

  • Anyone want to say anything about Cam Newton not being good?

Dude is for real, no question.

  • In reply to Bender McLugh:

    he was good in college
and he seems to just keep on getting better
olsen and ron rivera have got good days ahead

  • Of course, Olsen gets a garbage TD. Rooting for the Cowboys to finish this Detroit game. Detroits is on the move.

  • Hey, I would love to see a Harris and Merriweather combo. Wright is done. Give the guy another year or go to porn because this dude cannot taclke. And as I right this Merriweather is hurt..great.

  • Shut the fuck up.....All the complaining on here.

    Bears win.......

  • In reply to scott:

Haters come on, seriously. Don't make me cry

  • In reply to scott:

who the fuck are you tool?

  • In reply to scott:

hey thanks for the insight and analysis there scotty, appreciate the thoughtful contribution.

  • In reply to scott:

Yes a Win is a Win but there are a lot of questions regarding the team the Bears have on the field. On D and on O. If not for the special teams being special this is a loss. The D was gashed and the O line still can't block. Its not about one game its about an entire season. If the Bears pull out a win next week against the Lions i will feel a lot more positive.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

    you build on sucess
we started with good things happening
then found out what the better teams bring to the table
now the players have a benchmark
they can build on the things that were done correctly
and keep trying to get as skilled as the pack. and saints.
they showed some grit at the end
    that is positive

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    +1 for realz

  • In reply to scott:

    hey scott
    it don't really mean nothin
we all bleed the same way
it is also how i remember being home in chi town on gameday
for satellites like me this takes the sting out of todays american life
    it is great live entertainment
i give jeff and the rest of you a big hug for getting my coconut off the day to day

  • In reply to scott:

My drill instructor always told us that a complaining Marine is a happy Marine.

  • I'd like to trade our entire O-line for Carolina's.

    Even trade?

  • that was beautiful
    brotherly bear love
    i wish them well

  • The Bears didn't cover the spread. That's why I never touch them when it comes to picks.

  • Thoughts later, a win is a win, but man... looooots a question marks. Next week si going to be bad if all phases can't pull it together.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Dude..just two thoughts..

Forte won the game for us.

    Oline is totally horrible.

  • In reply to Artoo:

the reason Forte was so good today?

Bad angles, leading to wide open lanes and cut backs

Bad tackling, leading to extra yards

Due to Panther's being very thin at LB

Our Oline looked OK, but that group always takes a second look to asses. Clutts looked very solid though. But again, need to review.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

    * assess, as in, I am in ass lol

  • SF taking it to the Eagles!

  • Forget Cutler, can you guys imagine if we didn't have Forte. Totally outplayed Deangelo. 200+ total yards. I guess he's nothing special.

  • Holy shit, Romo gives it back again WTF!!! Lions are 3 points down and moving.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

Seriously, what the fuck is going on with that guy?

  • In reply to Shady:

    he sucks

  • In reply to MB30SD:

exaclty, Romo proving his critics are right.

Oh, and Megatron is the BEST receiver in the league without question.

HEY ANGELO, that's what a WR1 looks like. ass.

  • Like I said previously, the Bears best chance of winning lies in their opponent's ineptitude, and that's exactly what happened here.

The Panthers had a TD called back because of offensive PI

They had a chip-shot FG blocked

The illegal formation call took off another FG as Mare barely missed by 1 yd

THAT and a Hester PR TD was why they won. Clearly, they can't count on that strategy all year.

The effective run game I attribute more to the very depleted LB core of the Panthers, which led to bad angles and tackles.

    But, a win's a win. I'll take it.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

those are the intangibles no one controls
    i would rather win crappy
and try to improve on our poor performance
i don't know ....but i am thinkin that a loss would make the coming weeks very negative
    it should be negative enough
by the level of play showed today

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    hey get cookin
    the family wants to eat
i'll give one more thought tonight, late
    thankis for the enjoyable trip

    hey MB
    did your heart get cranked
    and your juices flowin
It felt great from this end of the telescope
    oh yeh!
    nice hit on olsen
i can't see the game so i just think it was you and that's good enough for me
lay up for a week and medicate if you need to we won't need you in there next week

  • In reply to huntinbare:

I think what bothers me most is that the Bears seem to be on cruise control, like they're still playing in preseason.

Marion Barber showed as much emotion as Hester when he broke the NFL record. Every one else looked like they were just sitting back and watching the Cam, Smith, Forte show.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

I disagree they can't rely on Hester's return game to be a plus for the team all year. Absolutely they can. When has ST let them down in a critical game?

OK, I admit, I may be slightly drunk.....

  • Irish, your thoughts?

  • Not a perfect win, but a win is a win, and I'm happy. The Boy's happy too. A good day. Good day for the running game. Very happy to see that. Very nice specials as always. Cam Newton's the real deal though, no doubt. And Steve Smith is still one tough little mother effer. The only thing that bothers me about the win is that we can't expect to score on special teams and D every week. Without those two sweet ass touchdowns, we don't win this game. I know, I know, that's part of our game, and should not be discounted. But it still makes me nervous.

    Good game though. Hell yeah.

    Bearing Down.

  • I know we won and I'm greatful for that but for some reason, it really didn't feel like a Win. This defense, I don't know anymore. Can a Chris Harris absence really explain it? And the team we play next just doesn't stay down...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

relax homeslice, take the win and move on

  • I know this isn't the place to ask but does anyone have the Green-Gay Bronco link?

  • Shaky D, O-line sucks.

Everytime I see Cutler take a seven step drop I lose 10mins of my life...I reckon I've lost close to a year now.

  • Damnit, I *knew* I should have went with the Panthers in the pix this week!
