Falcons at Bears Opening Day Thread

Falcons at Bears Opening Day Thread

It is the first Sunday of the 2011 NFL season.  As many of you know, it is customary for me on this particular Sunday to not return to the internet in any kind of coherent form until tomorrow morning.  But I shall try to come on tonight and deliver a quick hit recap.

If you're hungry for my thoughts during the game, I will try and send some messages to the Twitter account.  It's always on the site, over on the right rail.

  • Bear the fuck down!!!!

  • only had 4 hours of sleep and am wide awake. gonna rock the Cutty away jersey, predicting he's about to go megaton on Atlanta's D.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Same here FQD, and I got pretty buzzed up last night.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

played a game called beer die (shit's pretty fun) and made some homemade chili just for today (a tradition i started last year for the Week 1 opener). we (my roommate and i) have sunday ticket & he's out of town (but will make it back for his 'Skins-Giants game...he's from D.C. and naturally a big Redskins fan). Sundays will never be the same (in a good way). is it noon yet?

  • I'm gonna start tailgating on the couch in about 15 minutes. I'm getting fired up.

  • have Jamiroquai on repeat...swear to God this music is getting me pumped. every time a new song plays, i get chills. NFL football is so awesome.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Jamiroquai? Really? How about some Sam Spence to get you movin'!

  • In reply to FQD1911:

    Jamiroquai is some good stuff.

  • yea Sam Spence is the shit Shady. but, i'm an oddball...weird shit gets me jacked. for example, in an intramural game back in college, i listened to Seal while catching balls in warm-ups (yes..."Kiss from a Rose" Seal). Had a pick 6 & a TD that game.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Whatever works. That chili sounds good though, nothing like some goos chili to go along with football Sunday.

  • I Have NO idea what to expect.

Our O-line looked better this preseason (it would have been hard NOT to look better than last year) but there wasn't a lot sacking to be seen in preseason either.

    The good news...

The Falcon secondary is, supposedly, vulnerable, they averaged less than 2 sacks a game last year and Michael Turner hasn't exactly torn it up vs. the Bears.

    On the other hand...

Atlanta has augmented their pass rush with Mr. Edwards and the last time the Bears sacked Matty Ryan was, um, I don't know. Never?

    More bad news...

"Swami" (Chris Berman) Picked the Bears this week and his batting average stinks out loud.

I don't expect it to be easy but the Bears must defend their House.

    "Bear Down!"

  • This song gets me jacked up before a game. It makes we want to punch a rhino in the face.

I'll have to play some on the swole before the game starts.

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
my fuckin adrenaline and testosterone levels are thru the fuckin' roof!!!!
let's put Matty on Ice and send these fucks back to Atlanta in bodybags...
and make these fuckn jagoffs at espn look like the fuckn idiots they are!!!

  • i wake up sunday mornin to b.b. kings bluesvill with bill wax at the controls.......hopefully he will give me a good dose of buddy guy and albert collins

if the forces of nature want to come together today in the first quarter and give our secondary a pic-6; they will have fullfilled my wishes for the start to this season

i believe that that can go a long way in improving an area of concern....the greatest teacher can be confidence

  • Don't be stingy with links to live feeds, boys. Post 'em if you got 'em.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

  • Mornin'. What's for breakfast? Oh, Falcon you say? I'll get the hot sauce.

    Wake n Bake: Check
    Morning Coffee: Check
Kids in their Forte jerseys: Check.
Daddy donned Walter Payton jersey: Check.
    Blog up n rollin': Check
Rocky music playing in head since I awoke: Check.
Bears set to kick some ass: Oh HELL Check.

    Let's get it on!

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

    Schmoke and a pancake?

    Bong and a blintz?

  • In reply to Shady:

    Nice Doc...+1,000,000,000,000
    I like your style '''''''''
    PLease pass to the left...

  • I'll be on here live blogging during the game, instant Shady feedback.

If the Bears are going to win today, it starts with defense and special teams. The D has to be able to get after Ryan and get off the field on 3rd downs and set up punt return opportunities for Hester. The special teams unit looked sketchy in preseason, but I think DaveToub will have his guys ready to roll.

  • In reply to Shady:

p.s. shady...having Dirty Bird legs on the grill! slow and low...hee hee hee

  • In reply to lobotobear:

Nice, but it's not gonna help you in DBB FFL II hehe

  • O.K> Boys and girls...GOT THE FAM IN NAVY BLUE AND BURNT ORANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    here's a feed:

  • got my 54bHome on and am ready for some football!!! I love this game and love me some BEARS FOOTBALL!

Bear down fans...bear thee fuck down!
    1hour left....jesus i can't wait.

  • As a Bears fan from Mich all I've heard this week is the same Lions Kool-Aid bullshit that I hear every year. Let's not forget:
    1. Every year in the Martz system yields better results.
    2. Cutty shouldn't be running for his life (as much) so the Int's should be reduced considerably.
    3. The Atlanta downfield speed attack has to play on the worst turf in the league. (a legit home field advantage)
    4. They're da' Bears so F the Falcons.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    Very nice, I like.

  • Few more people in the chorus on this one...

  • I agree with Jeff on the Michigan game. I went to UM when BO was coach and Harbaugh was QB. A long storied history of Pro set football, producing since Harbaugh (he was the first after a long long drought) guys like Elvis GrBac, Brian Griese, and a guy named Tom Brady, oh and even poor Chad Henne - last of the old Michigan. Lineman like Jumbo Elliot, ends like Lamar Woodley - the list goes on and on.

    And now it stops.

I'll be shocked if Michigan puts anybody in the NFL in the next 5 years. If I wanted to watch that game last night, I could have gone and watched Benton Harbor play St. Joseph across the lake. That was ridiculous high school football.

  • With unemployment at 10% in Chicago - Lance Briggs must just shut up and buy some more comic books.

Jay Cutler will not be sacked 50 times this year.

The Bears are a warm weather ball club when it's warm and a cold weather ball club when it's cold. OK?

    The winning begins today.

  • A good afternoon to Doc Nitty and unless the Tucson kid Albert returns here, I officially am the oldest guy on this thread.

The Bears cannot force me to turn back to Fulham / Blackburn and the Serie A.

A new D.C. Universe and the new Chicago Bears - as Merriweather might say - go out and hit somebody.

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

Jack - We don't think of you as the oldest. We think of you as the wisest.

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

I don't know Jack. It's not official, but I do excel at being old.

  • Hughes or someone promised that we - the elderly and infirm - could have an avatar through Chicago Now without signing on somewhere else for even more advertisements.

We've slogged through the great/low economics conference of 2011 off-season, finally, finally, we have a football. I know it seems silly, but it feels nice to have football on this day, the tenth anniversary of 9/11. Could you guys imagine today w/o football? We'd be stuck with all these politicians milking this day to get a few extra votes. UGH.

But no, the players and owners got their collective head out of their asses, and here we are, watching the beginning of a SB run for our beloved Bears!

In the infamous words of Clubber Lang.

    "My prediction? PAIN."

    Go Bears!

  • In reply to 4ever85:

  • In reply to 4ever85:

Oooh. Good one. I like it.

  • Oh yeah, and for the record, here are my predictions. I don't bet, but if I did, I'm usually pretty accurate. However, injuries and strange teams coming out of nowhere (Chiefs) make most predictions idiotic. But here it is.

    85s 2011 NFC Predictions

(Barring catastrophic injuries for teams, a la Manning)

    Heeeeere we go…

    NFC North:

    1) Pack: win the division; it’s not the Bears fault the rest of the league can’t beat them.
    2) Da Bears - solid season, win enough to make the Wild Card with a few tie-breakers.
    3) Lions - in 2012 Lions fan will say, “I love our draft!”
    4) Vikes - they actually may finish a game off from even. Too bad they’re in the NFCN.

    NFC South:

    1) Saints: good Oline, HB, decent D. Brees has thrown for over 22,000 yds last 5 seasons.
    2) Falcons: somehow games don’t go their way this year. Still enough to get 2nd Wild Card.
    3) Bucs: over-rated. No more easy schedule.
    4) Panthers: Cam wins ugly, but not many.

    NFC East:

    1) Eagles: dream team my ass. They lose some close ones, and some Vick-less games.
    2) Giants: surprised? I’m not. In spite of injury, etc, they find a way.
    3) Cowboys: they always find a way - to lose. Aikman’s “blowing up team” idea looks good.
    4) Skins: Rex. ‘nuff said.

    NFC West:

    1) Rams: someone has to win this div. They’re decent all around, and that’s enough.
    2) Cards: not sold on Kolb, but he proves a good Orton for this team.
    3) ‘Hawks: T’Jack. ‘nuff said.
    4) 49ers: Andrew Luck sweepstakes. Coincidence, or some Machiavellian master plan?

    85s 2011 AFC Predictions

    AFC North:

    1) Ravens: finally get over the Steelers/Flacco hump.
    2) Browns: yup, my surprise Wild Card team, and not just cuz Hillis is on my FF team lol
    3) Steelers: much like the Lakers, I think this year they just get old.
    4) Bengals: do I really need to rationalize this?

    AFC South:

    1) Texans: win div by default. They’re still the Colts lil bro.
    2) Colts: yeah, still good, just no longer 12 win good.
    3) Jags: other than qb, solid. Qb is kind of a big deal though, so I hear.
    4) Titans: Young’s almost going to be missed - ALMOST.

    AFC East:

    1) Pats: unless you live in NJ, this is a no brainer.
    2) Jets: beat Pats in play-off doesn’t fly for me. Get Wild Card though.
    3) Bills: Fitzpatrick better than ppl think.
    4) Fins: Chad Henne - ‘nuff said.

    AFC West:

    1) Chargers: only good team in div. Rivers and Vjack r gonna tear it up.
    2) Broncos: Orton is who we thought he was - 500. Von .Miller D rook of the year.
    3) Chiefs: much like the Bucs, come crashing back down from orbit.
    4) Raiders: is Al Davis still running that team? Yeah, just checking.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

  • In reply to Shady:

Yup. Don't bet your mortgage on it though.

The inevitable "surprise" team always emerges making everyone (except for the biggest of homers of said teams) look like an ass.

But, I got it on record.

  • Holy Sheite..........I am actually going to see Da Bears here in the southwest...I think I have a Martzy Chubby and may pass out...Usually either the "F"ing Donkeys or the Cowgirls!!!

I will turn down the volume on fauxsports and put WBBM on it will be about a thirty second delay but don't give a sheite..need to hear the homeboys talk about our BEARS!!

    o btw BEAR DOWN!!!!!!!!

  • link again:

  • OH MY GOODNESS!!! Watching the game... on... my... waaaaaallll!

    hee hee

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    well, pregame anyway.

  • On offense, you know the Bears are going to try everything, even the 7 step drops, because they have to see where they are in terms of the playbook. Of course you would like to see a guy like Roy Williams come up with a few big catches early to open things up.

  • In reply to Shady:

as long as Martzy is in the booth and not on the field getting a chubby....so he won't loose blood to the other head, he will call a balanced game NO "F"ING SEVEN STEP DROPS!!!!!!!!!!!! crickey leave Cutty standing up!

  • hmmmm... yeah, there's deff. quite a bit of lag/stopping/etc... bummer

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    roll out the flag baby

  • God bless the USA!

  • FUCK YEAH BABY.... FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The singer of the anthem Jim Cornielison just gave a performance to remember!

  • In reply to Shady:

  • HOLY SHEITE LETS ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SKUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • another shot baby

  • There's Roy Williams wide open for a huge 1st down

  • Left side not blocking at all.

  • DOUBLE DEUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • way to catch the ball roy.

    North south matty, NS baby.

  • wow a third down coversion on good protection

  • there you go baby!

  • stay on your man Konx!!!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I like it, should be his new nickname. Morning/evewning all. Where's my fkn coffee ....

  • Dangerous pass from Jay there on 2nd down, nice little pass underneath to forte wide open for 20yds and a huge 1st!

  • What was that. Jay had all day and he dumped it off short. Cmon.

  • STRUCK GOULD!!!!!!!!!

  • Does anybody else absolutely hate reverses?

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

    me, me, me!!!

  • Good as Gould!

  • baaaad. terrible call. why?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

because we could of gotten 7 instead of three?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Yup. Running game has been lame so far. Jays got happy feet.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

oh yeah MB, did u get the Sony?

I was gonna get it, but my cousin has all the packages (yes, ALL the packages) to DirectTv, and he just let me mooch of his Football package through Slingbox.

Have you guys heard of SLingbox?

  • In reply to 4ever85:

    slingbox is a game changer

  • How's the sony workin', MB?

  • couple of 3rd and long conversions there - nice. TD would've been better, but that was a solid 1st drive.

Now time for our D to earn their paychecks.

  • nice drive to open the season
martz needs to adjust a bit on the next series; atl. is dropping 8 in coverage
not much in the run game what is happening to the line; i am listening on radio

  • All in all worth it doc.

I'm watching my bears 'in real-time' on an entire wall (projected)... there's definitely bad freezes that are really annoying, but it's much better than the pirate links mang. MUCH better.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

yeah, no more pirate links for me either MB.

I feel bad leaving my fellow pirates like Irish behind though - hehe

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • yeah, witherspon is a beast... he came from the eagles right? I remember hoping we'd pick him up when he went free agent (or was let go?). That dude is causing havoc on our run game.

  • good to hear

  • In reply to gpldan:

well, the freezes are getting worse for some reason... really bad

  • In reply to MB30SD:

and always RIGHT when they snap it. WTF!??!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

No, that was just the ATL offense stalling due to our swarming consistent D.

  • ATL in hurry up mode there, nice job by the D to force a FG less than a foot inside the left upright.

  • Starsky you fuck

  • Skunks not afraid to take it out of the zone!!!!!!!!! doesn't help when we get flagged

  • Steltz bomber caught with a hold there on the kick return, coaches cannot be happy. Let's see if the O can keep it going.

  • Com'n Martzy stay with the run!!! look into the fourth when we are running over their arses

  • Cutler clearly not happy with that shot he took a couple secs after he trew the ball OB

  • In reply to Shady:

That's an automatic call in this league. Fucking pendejo official.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    It's Ed Hochuli!

  • In reply to Ufficio:

    Si, hermano, exactamente ... pendejo.

  • what is the late hit shit...are the refs going to let this get ugly.....toub has got some coaching to do; crappy tackling

  • Seeing Cutler throw that thing away was a thing of beauty. My boy has grown up. Seeing the bullshit no-roughing-the passer call means it;s coffee time. Excuse me.

  • tampa 10-3 on a int. scrore

  • HOFer for sure!

  • Urlacher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thank you brian

  • Wow great pick Lack

  • Brian fkn Urlacher. Another thing of BEAUTY !!!

  • Lach is still the man. What a pick.

  • That was on Webb but, Abraham is no slouch.

  • It's nice to have a QB who can throw the ball 20 yds on a rope like Cutler.

  • great adjustment for the second stringer knox

  • Sweet!

  • Pay dat mane heez money!

  • DOUBLE DEUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Forte will get a new contract. Nice. TD.

  • Sean Witherspoon....Bear bit

  • btw...FUCK YOU NFL LACH IS STILL GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best screen team in the nfl

  • Screen! Hahaha

  • atlanta just adjusted out of the correct defense, and opened the door for a score.....a tip of the hat to the atlanta d......and a great call by martz

  • why ar ethey fucking talking about the eagles when we just scored?!?!?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

we aren't that important yet... natl. media always shows up late to chicago paties; but they will always remind you that they were on board from the beginning

  • cutler is posting a 152 rating in 1st quarter

  • want to know something sooo fucked up? I'm watching the fucking pirate link because my shitty PS3 DTV is freezing SO badly. FUCK!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Well that sucks mang, maybe see if you can get a quick refund by calling up support.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Perfect, no freezing. Clear your cahes if you get freezing.

    How bad is J'Marcus Webb?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Hey MB, if you got the DirecTV streaming thing going you should be able to pickup the stream on you computer/laptop or iThing if you have one.

  • Peanut !! Who else mang ? Who else?

  • Turnover #2 PEANUT! Love deuce never looking better!

  • major puts the low shoulder on turner and he loses the ball to tillman's strip and pep picks up the ball

  • I am worried about pringles man... dude had his head DOWN on the tackle.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

That was my concern when we drafted him. Head up Pringles.

  • Peanut strikes again. Gotta love the turnover machine that is Da Bears!

  • The Peanut donkey punch AgAIN

  • Loving this first quarter! More screens to Forte, keep the pressure on Matty Lice, more skunk, more turnovers, Dominate!

  • Lach INT and Peanut FF! Now there we go!

All the shifting makes me nervous cuz I think Martz is up to his old tricks again...

  • Ed Hochuli: Never a good sign to have the POSTER CHILD for substandard officiating refereeing and preening for the camera.

  • that was on cutty... can't hold the ball for 5 seconds dude.

  • Cutler has to run or get rid of the ball there, nice punt aPod.

  • Cutty I know you feel it..but don't hold on to the ball bro

  • He'll yes, this is nice people, this is nice!

  • OH FUCK! that could have so easily been a safety man... if they just fell the other way

  • henry meton through the gut down goes ryan;......hester returns a punt for some tough yards to the 30

  • Look at that D-line, we finally have defensive tackles. More things of beauty.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Look at that O-line, our offensive tackles still suck. Oh dear.

  • This Chicago Bears team, on offense, defense, and special teams, is capable of very great things this year.

    Mark it down, Donnie.

  • OK nig red zone poss. here

  • In reply to Shady:

    Clearly I meant big.

  • 3rd and short 1 yard spencer in at rt. guard...

  • damn man.

  • Bear Jew having a rough half

  • In reply to lobotobear:

  • wtf why a time out

  • In reply to huntinbare:

Cutty not liking the use of the play clock

  • And again, like last year, anything short of assault with a deadly weapon goes when defending Bear receivers. OBVIOUS P.I. against Hester. OBVIOUS!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Al...you'd think we would at least have home ref's sheesh...........

  • Davis is a fucking beast

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

  • Damn..like we have points wish it was 7 rather than 3........nothing but GOULD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Damn Cutler already has 174yds passing but they need to get something going on the ground. Most of the sacks have been coverage sacks where Cutler held the ball too long. The OLine looks pretty good but we can't move the ball on the ground.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

agree. Cutler's gotta let it go sooner, but I'd rather he take a sack than throw it into triple coverage like last year.

Our run has to improve. I think the Falcons came out set to stop it.

  • just called directtv... having major issues for many subscribers.

If the mother fuckers had spent as much money on their platform as their commercials this might not be an issue. Hey assholes, you weren't expecting this much traffic/load this season... really? fuckena mang.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Same thing happened last year with week 1 on their mobile platform. For what people pay for the service this should never become an issue.

  • this Bears team may be for real. predicted 11-5, but if they keep playing like this, they're going to beat that.

  • We need to score TDS! 3 aint bad, but our D can't force turnover every drive, can they?

Are ppl still bitching about Olsen? It takes about 3 guys to tackle Davis down.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

I counted five on that second try.

  • btw, we simply can't start giving up 3rd and 1s inside the 20 again this year and only come away with 3s man. common now.
...oh, and corey grahm is an animal

  • Wow Houston blowing out Indy, just goes to show you how much Manning means to that team.

  • In reply to Shady:

MVP without even playing a down this season.

  • Tough to get the ball at ATLs 30 and only get 3 out of it, but there have been times in the recent past when we were more likely to get stopped on 4th and goal or turn it over for no points at all. I'll take the 3.

  • Lach shot the wrong hole. How can the whole d line not see turner?

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

Looked like they were expecting pass there.

  • holy shiite, we stopped a slant!

  • Nice play Peanut

  • runD looking kind of swiss cheesy.

    THA NUT!

  • we need a long time-comsuming demoralizing drive. Common mang.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

  • Simmons was sure right about Peppers taking the season off.... NOT!

  • Sod is as soft and chunky as a Packer gal

  • that was ugly

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    ugly; but funny

  • Chris Williams wtf was that?

  • Knox is finding a way to get open

  • Jebus H. Christ was that Chris Williams tackling Forte for a loss?

  • Pass pro looks superb.

  • Matt Forte has great vision, doesnt he?

  • Ahhhh... looks like DTV fixed their shit... back online, but now a play behind, no more lagging. Weird.

  • lets see what they draw up here on 3rd after the 2min warning. Would like to get some pts out of the drive be4 the half.

  • they are burning the clock 3 min of 6 left were just used

we are having a good day for putting atl. in long field situations
these 2 minutes should be used up to keep atl, off the field
hope martz is up to it
the past few years we seemed to give opponents too much tempo going into half

  • If the O-line continues to improve over the next 2 weeks, we're gonna be hell.

  • Fuck... LL is still out. Hope it's not serious.

  • yeah, we need a TD here. Common boys, get the 7

  • I don't have sound so could somebody please fill me in after halftime about all the stupefying comments the announcers make trying to cover their asses as to why the falcons aren't winning.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

silly. we had just scored a sick TD and all they talked about was the fucking eagles getting their asses beat.

  • Things not to do: run behind spencer

  • That's why you bring in Roy Williams.

  • In reply to Shady:

    that catch was all hands

  • roy is getting off the snied this half

  • What is this third down conversion thing that keeps happening? I don't remember it from last year at all.

  • let's hope we also dont don't recognize the redzone TD right now either

  • I like the catch for the 1st from RW, but I wish he would stop that pointing bullshit

  • In reply to MikeV in OR:

    happy i can't see that

  • In reply to MikeV in OR:

I hope he does a lot of it this season!

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

as long as he doesn't use it everytime i don't mind a little "rodman" with my football.....think he'll die his hair orange and blue
carve some shit in it also roy
don't do this shit half way

  • FUCK!

  • DOH, he was wide open. These missed opportunities could come back to haunt later in the game.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

    ravens, texans beating ass. interesting

  • Great play call, too bad Jay couldn't convert. With how explosive the Falcons offense is the Bears need to take full advantage of these opportunities.

  • In reply to Shady:

  • Wow, Cutty, just wow. How do you overthrow Kellen Davis?

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

first game... shaking off the rust mang

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

That was basically a no-look throw. By the time he turned around there were three or four Falcon DEs in his face.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

16/21 222 yds 1/0, one of those incompletions was a drop, and another was clear pass interference.

    Give the guy a break.

  • CUTTY to much on it!!! damn

  • Ok, now it's time to see if WE can adjust at halftime and come out kicking their asses again... not the other way around.

  • it seems we are controlling the clock anybody know how long the offense was on fied in 1st half.......

lovie heads to the locker room for a spirited half time talk...he says he weill tell them "we got 1 half left and the score is 0-0"...
don't complicate a good 1st half with too many words....

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    about 17 min...that's a good #

  • That's about a good a half as you can have gents, the Bears are clicking on all cylinders. Let's keep it rolling to the second half.

  • In reply to Shady:

We can't run the ball mang, that's not good. Who pulled down Turner on the long run?

  • 1st game.......we have some things to work on, but seem to be in the right direction......agree shady..let's keep rolling

  • Did NBC really just advertise a ManUnited game? What the what?

  • here we go boys... I'm nervous all over again.

  • Jesus, kenny albert looks like he has an extra chromosome

  • 18min. 13 sec time of possesion
that is good for the d fatigue
i hope by the 4th qtr we run the ball better

  • is Corey graham serious?

  • melton cheese is an intimidator

  • fucken a man

  • ouch..............

  • common boys, have to stop them here. have to.

  • Sorry I'm tardy gentlemen... attended memorial services this morning & delivered crispie treats to my local fire department. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=122684774498746&set=a.114549795312244.13152.100002716724420&type=1&theater

Now it's time for football & I see our team showed up today. BEAR DOWN!

  • Falcons are gonna try to pound it in.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

try was the operative word trac

  • p nut saves 1

  • REEEEED!!!!! wholy shit!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Massively heads up by Reed, he was schemed to stunt in and broe that off...

  • Great coverage by Peanut and a great read by Reed. Sweet. Easy money.

  • "Nick Reed" + "In coverage" are not two things I want to hear again.

Love that boy. Was pulling for him to make the team. An UFA just saved the Bears a TD.

  • Nice to see the D get it together after that long run by Turner, now let's see the O give them another breather.

  • shut the door finally; if it wasn't for the 3rd and one debacle that would have been a positive start. how did that run gat blown up for us?

  • In reply to huntinbare:

just one broken play hunti... shit happens unfortunately. First game, some shit is going to be rough.

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    Poor gap discipline.

  • In reply to huntinbare:

    Safety blew contain.

  • Cmon Corey, focus mane!

  • PS was no bluff - Hester to return all kicks and punts ...

  • Pay dat man heez money!

  • pay the man

  • GO HESTER!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how about that devin hester and downfield bears blocking

  • BOOM!

  • That play actually worked! That's a TD by the way.

  • Devin Hester, you ARE ridiculous.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    Damn, beat me to it!

    Great minds think alike.

  • Hester, let me be the first of 11 to say u are RIDICULES!

  • The following thoughts occurred to me recently.

While much maligned, the following current and former chicago bear quarterbacks are ALL starters in the NFL. Cutler, Sexy Rexy, and Orton. That's almost 10% of current NFL starting QB's! Oh, and Jim Harbaugh and Sean Payton are NFL head coaches.

The following former 85 bears are, or were last year, NFL head coaches. Singletary, Leslie Frazier, Ron Rivera, Jeff Fischer, Sean Payton (87 strike year scab).

The 49ers dominated the bears in the eighties and nineties. So who have the 49ers turned to coach their team in recent years? Mike Singletary (80's-90's), and Jim Harbaugh (90's). And they wonder why they suck? We're sabotaging those sons a bitches. Morons.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

were like a virus on the opponents that wore us out......stealth attacks by bear moles......ingenious

  • Hester, you glorious bastard.

  • Lovie with a challenge flag scares the shit out of me, but it looks like that ball broke the plane before Devin was down.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

That was a no-brainer challenge call. 7 points on the upside and we didn't need that timeout anyway.

  • HAHAHAHAH... boyah baby!

  • Play works 100% of the time, every time!

  • Welcome to Chicago Mr. Spaeth.

  • Even better! SPAAAAAEEEEEEETH!!

  • lovie gets no love from the film room
but martz's new beefcake comes up big for his new team
i will have to remind myself to thank pal from pitts. tomorrow

  • O.K................. LDL good call I would of thrown the challenge too!!! What team is this...................BEAR DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cutler, Spaeth! Get used to it.

Cutler just looks IN CONTROL. Confident, accurate, comfortable. This is a 13 win team they're doing this to.

  • Anyone else notice the Colts are getting shellacked. 0-34, yikes. Yes, its good to be a Bear today boys.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

I married a lifelong Colts fan yet today he's watching the Bears game right next to me.

  • Mike Pereira on the case to point out how Hochuli fucked up, yet again.

  • In reply to Ufficio:

The league keeps him only because he hates the Bears.

  • Guys, our D is holding this offensive juggernaut to two FG's.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

  • i still liked olsen and hope he is having a good game
it seems that everybody is getting rewarded in the recieving core from all the hard work
i wonder what his year woulda been like
they just called nick reed the tamanian devil

  • URLACHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL at the Bears today. Unbelievable!

  • In reply to Shady:

Fully expected Shady. No surprise to us mang. Just the 'experts'.

  • are you even fucking serious? Hey paaaaaackers!

  • I'm totally freaking out. This is a whole new Bears team.

(Did anybody else see they added that TD to the Falcons for a second?)

  • Amen to that! Loved the comment made, "This is old school Bears team.. not just defense, but TEAM."

  • Mang, all these beer commercials... and everyone's sober. Everyone's standing, nobody puking or pissing themselves. No one repeating themselves over and over, nobody being obnoxious, no violence, no raping, nobody falling asleep behind the wheel and causing head-on collisions and decapitating people. I love it.

  • I love that all the 'experts' picked Atlanta, unanimously.
I love that threw a wedge on them with three other locks.
    I love my Chicago Bears.
    I love Brian Urlacher.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

today there is alot to love

  • That was freakin awesome! Da Bears!!!

  • The one thing that sticks out to me is how comfortable Cutler looks. Please please please keep Martz on, don't make Cutty go through another coordinator.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Just keep him up in the box and find some OTs.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

if cutler can break into an impromptu physics class lecture for the students in africa; i'm thinkin martz better be carefull how much he shows cutler

    he may find himself expendable

  • all the charities that prosper from bear takeaways are having a great day

spaeth's mom and aunt get a trip to the windy city and a touchdown ball to boot

  • Question: Hey Clayton you turkey ass, have you ever seen the Bears this lucky before.

Clayton: Uhhhh. Errrrr. Well, uh, the field in Chicago .....er......uh..., next.

  • don't get slazy guys... keep fucking killing them. Melton!

  • common guys, do NOT let us.

  • Charlie Weiss left K.C. and all they score today is 7. They were a huge surprise and they let a huge part of it walk away.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Yup, but Buffalo have a good D and Fitzpatrick and Johnson look to have another great year, I picked them up where I could. They get no love from the 'experts'.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

they looked good in our backfield a few weeks ago

  • briggs not having an impact game.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Mb...he's there bro and that alone makes an impact. I just hope this f ing contract sheite ain't playing havoc in his head..

  • In reply to lobotobear:

    exactly lobo

  • Wow... #44 needs to go back to the JV team.

  • In reply to CrispieQueen:

yeah, i hate when my fullback is blocking 45 yards downfield on screen passes.

  • I love that they gave away FG field position on those two penalties.

  • I'm not sure, but I think I just heard the Falcons say, "Uncle."

    This is fucking sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

    "Uncle" - Like

  • lets eat some clock

  • In reply to huntinbare:

Good thing you didn't leave out the second "L".

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

i have missed quite a few spellings today, but i kinda keep an eye on that clock word.

now i may just throw that one in on ya later in the season just for entertainment

when i first joined and chose my name from the only dylan bear reference i could find; i wondered what the group was gonna think about the person behind that reference...

i'm not a sleezy old man trolling this site....ha

  • That was a GREAT time out by the Bears. The Falcons looked like they had momentum, timeout, Marinelli put his foot up some players asses, next thing u know, 4rth and 22.

  • time to push down on the neck..twist and let the air out of the lungs.....

  • In reply to lobotobear:

...and then pull of the dirty bird's head and throw it to the dog. 6/5. Easy. Money.

  • In reply to lobotobear:

loboooooooo. Your crazy ass. Isn't this beautiful?

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

    I'M LOVING IT!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to lobotobear:

    oh my let em up to breath, and live another moment.... i want them conscious when they get back on the plane and unroll those s.i. magazines they brought with them;
and try to figure out pee king's reasoning

  • poor execution on O so far....com'n don't let down..$#!@$#$%#!@$#

  • Can Peppers keep the head of Matt Ryan as a trophy?

  • Ameba slithers through

  • In reply to TheFifth:

    that's funny

  • Dare I say such a manly game is pretty but this game is.

  • Just got off the phone with a cust supp guy at directtv, I am 95% sure he WAS the WaterBoy. Holy cow.

4th phase baby! Another 14 points please boys.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    waterboy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

  • what is a benefit is that the new speciel squaders are creating alot of tape for review and correction

  • man this is sweet. fucking loving this mangs.

  • sheite I hope not a hammy on Roy Boy

  • roy williams is a dumb ass. jesus dude.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

btw, is it just me or did royw look like he was wearing clown shoes, or was that just me?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

MB...don't make me fire up the clown car......hahahahahahahaha

  • In reply to MB30SD:

He's def. a clown and that act isn't going to play well when the Bears are losing. But as long as he's holding on to the ball I guess I can live with it.

  • So why is it that "the genius" doesn't like Jackass?

  • Memo to Matt Ryan and Falcons --- run out clock and go back to Georgia.

Memo to Jimmy Johnson --- never ever pick against the Bears.

Memo to Chicago --- Winning football at Soldier Field.

  • p.s. -

    Don't stop now boys!!!!

  • STOP doing that stupid shit martz. Jesus.

  • fucken a man. FUCK FUCK FUCK!

Good hustle from the team tho.

  • 3rd tipped ball finally intercepted.

  • That was a reality check boys. Bears back down to earth. It's ok though, stop trying to be cute boys. Lets put this away.

  • Fook Mi........lack of concentration!!!! com'n O and Martzy no razzle sheite with the direct hike..STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • there we go

  • I blame martz for that int. Never should have been in that situation but he can't help himself with a retarded play call when we have a big lead.

  • In reply to Vicp71:

again...he get's that chubby and the blood starts to drain from the head on his shoulders and makes piss poor decisions.

  • Dester in the endzone -- "Wait, how am I supposed to down this?"

  • FING WEBB!!!!!!!!

  • J'Marcus fucking Webb. You are my nemesis.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

If it looks like a turd and smells like a turd ...

  • stupid shit. getting cute. getting sloppy. just bad.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    yep. MB...yep................ #$!@$#$%#!@%$#!@#$!%$!

  • why is it when we get a good lead we find a way to shoot are own arese's?

  • So just becuz we are up on one of thee SUPPOSED offensive juggenauts n were going to strt changin up what we have done to get us here?

COME the fuck on Martz....stop being cute and stick ti the fucking game plan and CRUSH this team!!!!!

  • How many Webb holds so far?

  • In reply to gpldan:

GP.. I think at least four

  • In reply to lobotobear:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Costing at least two big first downs.

  • sloppy play man.... sloppy after we got up. I HATE that. We HAVE to keep the peddal down for the entire game.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • sloppy sloppy all over

  • I'm very happy with Podlesh's performance today. D has been solid, O left too many points on the field.

  • we need to stop this, get a turnover here

  • Time to knock out Ryan...Mortal Kombat...FINISH HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Matt Ryan looking Tony Easonish

  • In reply to gpldan:

    tee hee hee

  • Pep to Melt
    "Meet me at the QB"

  • Matt Ryan getting his shit fucked up, looked like a "Tuna" Melton sandwich with Peppers JACK cheese!

  • In reply to Shady:

    nice shady!

  • Ok, so I think I can safely post this now.

How you like dem apples… you bunch of punk ass bitches!

  • Martzy don't get fucking cute just run THE FOOKING BALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I get a boner when I think of our d-line when Wooten gets back healthy!

  • In reply to Vicp71:

It will be a bitch'n rotation.....QB's will not know what end is up!

  • Let's get one more boys

  • Ok, so I think I can safely post this now.

How you like dem apples… you bunch of punk ass bitches!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    FOOK the pundits....

  • In reply to MB30SD:

In the Don Banks article I like the blurb

At the start of a training camp interview I did with him, Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz leaned over and whispered: "We're going to be pretty good. Nobody thinks so, but we're going to be pretty good."

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

    that is interesting
if they missed seeing our improvements; because they have been looking through their bear filters from the grossman era; i think thats when alot of the countries disrespect started
i wonder how wrong they are about the other teams?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

it's damage control time at s.i.
ooooops......king get the hell in my office and explain yourself

  • PLay of the game? Urlacher diving INT or Urlacher fumble return?

  • In reply to Shady:

  • that was beautiful gents... simply awesome.

And this was our first game baby.

    Saints..... DEAD!!

  • Nice win. Bear the fuck down.

  • Hey Al...what was the spread on us again?.......Fook Them All

  • W.

    Hell Yes.

Beatiful first game. If our D-line can play like this all season, it should be a helluva fun ride. Melton > Tommie in his prime.

Definitely got my bears chubby raging right now. Can't spank it 'til next week though. Fuck.

  • 1-0 Baby. 1-0. I didn't get to watch the 2nd half today but listened on the radio. Martz lost focus after we got up 30-6. I guess you can argue that he took the opportunity to look at a few wrinkles cause we had a comfortable lead but I don't think what he did was productive and I don't want to see him get sloppy like that again. Specially against the Pack. Julio Jones really put the Falcon's over the top didn't he? heh heh.

  • No one calling Williams a wasted draft pick? Bust? Nothin? Maybe we can lay that one to rest because he played a pretty solid game.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Mongo...I will bite...you might be right.....Webb on the other hand should be taken to the shed.....

  • In reply to lobotobear:

Webb was not having a good game. Carimi is a little shaky in pass protection on the right side, if Webb continues to look that bad maybe they should try him over there. He just might be more comfortable on that left side.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

That stop he made of Forte in the backfield was pretty clutch.

  • Percy Harvin gets ridiculous.

  • Matt Schlerith can fuckn take a cock base deep, gargle the balls and swallow the gravy...
    hate that fuck....

    oh yea....

    1-0 BABY...
    I fucking LOVE IT!!!!

  • Hi fellas, Spanish Bear is back in business! :)

    1-. What I liked:
    - Such QB pressure with just the front row. Our new #91 seems better that our former #91.
    - The new guys (the undrafted free agents, I mean).
    - Kellen Davis, in spite of that pass he must have caught.

    2-. What I didn't liked:
    - Martz in the end, we were running the ball pretty well.
    - Cutler should have been intercepted earlier.
    - Our inability to call dead the game by the second quarter; only 16-6 at halftime was too little.

    Great game, bear down.

PS: on a side note, I have tickets to the London game! Anyone else going too?

  • Tillman and Urlacher played a hell of a game.

  • This shot says it all LACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to lobotobear:

    or maybe this:

  • Front page at SI.com....'What is Wrong with the Falcons'...ummmmthey got f-in mauled by the Bears....once again all about how the other team has problems and not about the extreme ass-kicking that the Bears gave them...ah well we are used to it..keep flying under the radar boys! BEAR DOWN!

    Eat Sheite...tee hee hee

  • In reply to lobotobear:

Two of those guys had very reasonable assessments lobo. Theisman on the other hand was a total and complete hack. What a windbag.

  • The doubters of Cam Newton should watch the Panthers game. He has thrown some pretty damn good passes.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

    fuck the panthers.

  • btw....when Waddle gets back to Chi-Town someone needs to turn his arse into a pinata and vote for his home team you BITCH!!!!!

  • So much for simulation

  • That was a pleasure to watch.

My player of the game was Henry Melton. A friggin' BEAST today, although BU was definitely a force today.

I had expected a win, but not such a full-fledged fucking BEAT DOWN of this season's "darling" of the NFL. Especially given what that means trying to get a penalty called in your favor!

  • In reply to SC Dave:

Melton is a stud. Holy crap. Our front four this year actually gets to the qb WITHOUT a bunch of scheme. The Cover-two is going to be deadly this year.
Although, every time we blitzed DJ Moore, he spooked the shit out of Matty "Ice"..

  • My quick observations on the game:
    1) Martz had some beautiful play-calls this game, including the should've-walked-it-in overthrow to Kellen Davis in the red-zone...
    2) Knox should have no problem sliding into the starting lineup against the Saints. Although, I gotta admit, Roy looked good blocking and catching before he pulled his not-in-football-shape groin. Let's hope we finally see all the Dallas acquisitions take the field in the same game soon.
    3) I think when Barber finally gets healthy, our rushing attack is going to be downright scary.
    4) Anybody have any complaints about Clutts? Me neither.
    5) did PimpHat take the field? Saw lots of Pringles (for both good and ill).
    6) CG just continues to be a special teams stud.
    7) DH got screwed on the Td, but that run through traffic to get there was...ridiculous.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    1) couldn't agree more, although Martz started dusting some stuff he tried out in Madden towards the end of the game.
    2) Knox will be fine, but I thought the same about Roy and him being "out of shape" when he gingerly walked to sideline. I'm just glad his arm didn't get injured so that he was still able to do the first down celebration (rolls eyes)
    3) I thought Bell ran well, and if it wasn't for ONE of Webb's three holding calls, we would have easily ran for over 100 yards to go with 300 passing. Forte also showed he can pick up short yardage, which is a nice change. With Barber back there, watch out.
4)We do need a nickname for Clutts...he made not one, but two key blocks on Forte screen. VERY solid blocker.
5)P.O.Y. (Pimp of the Year) was on the field, later in the game. I didn't really see how he did though cuz our Dline was all over Ryan by that time like a cheap rug.
    6) CG seemed to be everywhere on SP. Podlesh and Gould also looked impressive.
    7) That should have been a TD. 1st and goaline still makes me nervous...get flashbacks of last year when we got stuffed 2 times then had to see a pass sail into triple coverage and pray it didn't get int.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

    1) Agreed. The play calling was a great mix and the passing game looked really dangerous. I think Cutler is going to carve up the weaker defenses we play this year.
    2) Knox and Williams IMHO would make a great tandem. There is no reason Hester can't get a fair number of plays on offense, but he needs to have fresh legs for the special teams magic.
    3) Yah. The running game... sick.
    4) No complaints, and have to say I really liked the blocking from our offense on a lot of the running in space opportunities (Hester's 1 yard line, Forte's crazy cut). Great hustle.
    5) He'll get his chances. But hopefully not too many.
    6) +1
    7) He did the right thing tucking the ball. And I remember saying out loud on the next play "I hope we fixed this since last year." 1st and 1 touchdown pass. Looks like we did.

  • LOVE that game! Had a house full of Bears fans and it was beautiful! Now lets keep it rollin!

  • And who dat gonna beat them Saints?

Your 2011 Chicago Bears, that's who, bitches.

  • gucci shoes on....check
    gucci belt on...check
    gucci shades on....check
    Falcons wings clipped....check

How do the pundits explain this one? We got pretty fucking lucky today.

    Saints...fucking next.

  • In reply to Gucci Mang:

lol no doubt...keep that luck all year long.

  • Melton did a good job at end as well. Okoye was a great pickup.

  • I just don't like it, not one bit.......I want no love from any of these bitches:

  • In reply to lobotobear:

Aren't these the same folks who used a supercomputer to decide we actually had a 3-13 record last year if you don't count the actual scores, and were doomed to fill ICU's everywhere this season, or some such shit?

  • nice start for Roy, hope the groin is not serious..

    Wash beating NY. Rex appeal.

  • I'm 2/2 so far in Da Picks contest with Cutler and Grossman. Let's see if Orton can make it 3/3!

  • In reply to Shady:

    I almost copied your picks.

  • How bout our man Rex?

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

    I'm happy for him.

I'm unhappy about the bullshit login prompt that these gnomes cannot seem to bring into the 21st century.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

    + 1 ad infinitum

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Yeah Murph. Bad Rex did make a cameo appearance momentarily though. He tripped and lost a fumble. Remember that guy?

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

I have him on my Fantasy team and didn't start him. Looks like it cost me the game with Brownie.

  • Melton Cheese with Hot Peppers on a dirty bird sandwich

  • In reply to gpldan:

I like that doubled for next Sunday Please!!!!!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

  • All Hail Henry!

You can caption today's game with

    "MELTON the ICE!"

Nice victory despite the mid-season-form-total-incompetance of the ever-clueless, Ed Hochuli.

Hester hits the Pylon with his left side and the ball in his right hand and that lame excuse for a zebra says there's no evidence to overturn a ridiculously-bad-from-the-get-go call!?!?!

Hochuli is always, repeat ALWYS on the lookout for ways to NOT overturn calls by his crew.

Damning evidence: Preening Ed's Former boss and now Fox rules analyst, Mike Pereira, said he thought it should have been overturned.

Screw you, Ed Hochuli. You're fired. Again.

  • Awesome game, thanks to the providers of the streams, although it skipped during the three turnovers in the second half so I missed them (but every time and only on the turnovers, how fucking weird is that?).

Although the one negative I'll bring up is that I'm with Irish, Webb probably sucks.

  • Crap, the Chargers cost me my Saturday picks. 1 1/2 Lousy points.

  • Where's Waffle? Sleeping under a bar stool somewhere?

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

AKA Gucci Mang, unless I'm incredibly off-base.

  • MB, do you read SI for the entertainment value alone? They're gonna have to start dumping data to cover up their journalistic incompetence. Hilarious. Where the they get their talent? Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

the garbage pile Trac. they suck...

and yes, so I can bring them here to have all of us make fun of them.

  • Between watching that and the ravens D today I am sooooo glad football is back. 5 Things I like:

    1) Forte. Pay the man. If he goes down w/serious injury then that will be one of the biggest injustices in the world.

    2) The D-line. Hope Peppers and Melton sandwich every QB from here to Indianapolis.

    3) Earl the Pearl and his might hustle. His effort to get back and pop the ball out on the INT was tremendous.

    4) Kellen Davis. The guy is a monster. I would happily resort to throwing jump balls to him whenever we get into the redzone.

    5) Sexy Rexy man!!!!!

Finally, watching the Girls/Jets game, I am relieved that we got Jay...think, those picks might have gone towards Sanchez otherwise.........

  • I don't know what the hell was wrong with me, but I wanted the whole NFC North to win. I don't know, with the exception of Drew Brees, I am about sick of all this fantarding over the NFC South AND the NFC East QB's. It does pain me to say this, but Chicago (and probably the Lions) are legit. Three playoff teams coming from the NFC North. I'm calling it now.

  • In reply to RodgerRodger:

Yup. It's gonna be one heck of a year. Don't come around week 3 though. Just sayin.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

Felt the same way Rodger. Divison games are going to be absolute war. I don't know if the Lions break 10 this year, but I think they definitely break .500

McNabb is a good QB, but he had a terrible game. The Vikes will be better than that.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

Disagree NB. Being in san diego I watched the whole game. Their D was ok, but that is going to be one of their best games. Just didn't see anything that made me worry one bit. Wasn’t impressed with anyone but the dude opposite mullet and Winfield.

SD just super sucked in the first half. The queens will be very lucky to break .500 this year. Lions will be third and MIGHT get + 8, but why are people all fired up that they squeeked by a totally unproven bucs team? Yeah, the bucs are going to the SB this year just like the falcons and browns, right.

Oh, and fuck the packers, fuck them right in the face. I don't give a shit how well-mannered their filthy hoard is being on the blod this second. Fucking bedbug vermin.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Didn't see much of the Vikings game beyond that run back TD at the start. I agree that they are the weak team in the division, but you think they do worse than 6 wins this season?

And Tampa Bay has some weapons. They aren't going to the Super Bowl, but Freeman is legit.

I'll save the Packer venom for week 3.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

    1. Only 6 wins would not shock me NB. They really didn't look like much, the chargers just really stunk it up in the first half for some reason.

    2. Yeah, but all these guys will be saying, "see... the lions beat the bucs, they are going to be #2 in the NFCN and beat the bears". Watch. Personally, not impressed. Beat someone proven good first... by more than 7.

    3. I always have packer venom now. I used to have so much respect for them, then their fucking cockroach fans came round to cause issues on the blog, and I'm supposed to play nice when one comes on and is finally reasonable and decent for once? Fuck that... now I only wish for them to implode and their best players to get worked. Fuck them... always. Besides, venom isn’t your thing NB, leave that to me and a couple others.

  • In reply to RodgerRodger:

Yup, it's gonna be one heck of a year. Don't come around week 3 though, just sayin. heh heh.

  • In reply to RodgerRodger:

I actually found myself pulling for the Lions too (not least of which because Calvin Johnson's on my FF team), though not so much Vikes, but I was very curious how McNabb would do.

I've said it in preseason and I'll repeat it now

The first three already have been proven. I'm not sure about the last, but Vikes are gonna play Panthers in 8th week with what looks like a stud Cam. Cam new McNabb? hmmmm

  • In reply to RodgerRodger:

Yeah, RR....though with the exception of you boys, even if the NFC North goes a collective 55-9, SI & ESPN will write articles measured in gigabytes on why the NFC South was robbed.

I admit, though, I wasn't really pulling for the Vikes.

  • In reply to RodgerRodger:

Vick is going to be lucky to stay upright by October, Dallas is a mirage, the Gints just plain suck this year, and the Redskins are the Redskins.

The Saints D is absolutely horrendous (Packers game last week being exhibit A, and last year against Seattle - Exhibit B). Atlanta showed their colors again, just like the playoff game against the Packers, and Tampa was over-rated going into this season, again.

  • Ravens-Steelers best rivalry? EPIC FAIL. Chicago-GB.

  • In reply to RodgerRodger:

That inbred clown Jason LaCanfora went with Steelers/Ravens. What an asshat.

  • It's a fad. Next year, it'll be Seattle/San Francisco.

  • In reply to Sdwat52:

I can only assume that this is because they are the only two teams to survive the 2012 apocalypse?

Or will the announcement of that be the catalyst that triggers the 2012 apocalypse?

  • In reply to DYLbear23:

I'm going to take "B", but already the puked-its are creating a Ryan/Bellichek type fued between Carroll and Harbaugh. So I give SI & Co. all of a season to start christening them.

  • If you didn't catch the anthem today, it's worth watching. Jim Cornelison sang his heart out today and it showed:

Not ashamed to say I got a bit teary-eyed today after that one.

  • In reply to Shady:

    shady you were not alone..........

  • i'm watching the def line again on replay. I am very happy with Pep, Melton, Okoye on pass rush and AA and Toe on run support. Izzy didn't make any big mistakes. Reed also is going to make some more plays this year. I am so pissed it is not next sunday already. Bring on the Saints. Drew is not making it out of this game alive.

  • A few more comments of my own.

    1) Thank you Titans for beating the spread, I believe that gives me a 3/3 in DBB picks contest.
    2) From the Detroit/Tampa Bay highlight reel, on a play where Josh Freeman was slow to get up, I hear them say "This Detroit front seven... they're gonna hurt a lot of quarterbacks this year."
    3) On the Kellen Davis overthrow. I want to know if Davis was supposed to be standing where he was. Cutler was running from three unblocked rushers and spun around to lob off his back foot. If he overthrew, fine, but there's no way he had time to see where Davis was. Looked to me he was just throwing the ball away.
    4) On the 54 interception - nice hops for a white linebacker. On the fumble recovery, thank you Julius Peppers. That's leading by example right there.
    5) Good comment from ESPN 1000. Carimi did not have a great game. But after a win like this, he's going to have the confidence to take those mistakes and really learn from them. He'll get better. -- I totally agree. He was playing at an NFL level in the one one one stuff. It was the stunts and blitzes that were throwing him in pass protection. Give him time to adjust to the competition and he'll be fine.
    6) I consider this win better than what the Packers or the Texans did. The Packers won a great shootout against a solid team, but where was their defense? The Bears showed up in all three phases. The Texans definitely were the most dominant of the week so far, but that's because the Colts played with a broken neck (or whatever). The Bears won against a playoff team with all of its weapons in place.
    7) Ryan had 319 yards passing. Turner had 100 yards rushing. Oh well, who cares. Falcons had 6 points offensively. That pretty much sums up the Bears' defensive philosophy.

Bear Down! Let's do the same thing to New Orleans next week.

  • In reply to NewBearInTown:

that was a planned screen New Bear and it was beautiful. Jay put a little too much mustard on it. Davis also watched it sail over his head like a pud.

  • tony romo needs to quite fb and go play golf... tomorrow. That dude is just NOT a good QB to have in the shit. Dude just threw the game away. Silly little bitch.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I'd be loving this.... if it wasn't the jets

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I'm loving it simply because of the stat that came up saying that the cowboys have never lost a game when leading by 14+pts in the 4th quarter.

    History for ya J.Jones!!!

  • ...not ready for his own snap...watching Romo tonight is like watching a rerun in an endless loop of his career. Is it me, or is Jerry Jones on track to become the next Al Davis?

  • Wow. The Bengals trick play was so good, they don't even have good video of it because the cameras weren't ready.

  • Yeah, no shit on the Homo Romo (not that there's anything wrong with that)

All he had to do was NOT turnover the ball at the one yard to gain a 21 point lead in the 4rth. He fumbles it.

He throws to a hobbling Bryant, who, oh btw, is covered by the best shut down corner since Deion. INT.

Then, to top it off, he and the C fuck it up and he has to throw it away, like the game.

Like I said in my season predictions - Cowgirls always find a way - to lose. If Romo doesn't produce this year, Jones is the type of guy who will trade two drafts for Luck next year. Could be an interesting story.

Sanchez looked like a younger version of Romo tonight.

  • Great win guys and great comments afterwards. Melton is bad ass and like has been said, if our front 4 can create pressure like that, sans blitzes, then our back seven can handle anything. The cover 2 can really shine with front 4 pressure. That being said, Atlanta's offensive line is suspect and we can't count on that all season. And while I share in the unbridled optimism that is pouring out of this site right now, I don't want to get carried away. The Steelers got manhandled by the Ravens today, and we know the Ravens aren't really THAT much better than the Steelers. The point is, we can't overreact when we have bad games and we can't overreact when we have good ones. The Saints will be hungry and clawing for a win next week, on ten days rest, at home. They took the champs to the brink last week. We will have our hands full. I love our start but it's a long fucking season. Damn it feels good though.

Huntinbear: I don't get the Dylan reference. I'm a big fan so please fill me in. Here's another Dylan reference: Talkin Bear Mountain Picnic Massacre Blues

Repost: The following thoughts occurred to me recently.

Morons.

    Bear Down, amigos.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

Hey, Doc - didn't get a chance to talk to you on the other thread, but I hope everything is OK. That had to be scary as hell. I think Michael and Waffle's advice was stellar.

  • The folks here on DBB, and I think Chicago Bears fans in general are a bit bipolar about their team. We get a little too excited (manic) when our boys have a great game. Then we fall into depression, anger and rage when they have a bad game. Not complaining, just agreeing with Doc's point. Let's not let one ass-whoopin of a Super Bowl contender get us too high.

Maybe instead of beer at the games they should sell Prozac or something. I know if we beat the next 2 Superbowl Contenders we have coming up, I'm gonna need some. Either that or I talk Doc into sending me a care package from his pharmacy.

Only 6 days until we do this all over again. Bear Down!
