Chicago Bears at New Orleans Saints Game Thread

Chicago Bears at New Orleans Saints Game Thread

Final thoughts:

  1. Be ready for the blitz and counter with the quick out and screen.  The Saints secondary is full of shoddy tacklers and I love the matchup of ours against theirs in space.  Do not take the chance of five and seven-step drops.
  2. Don't be surprised if the Saints come at you with a heavy dose of the cutback run game.  They know they can't beat us throwing it 50+ times.  The Saints drafted Mark Ingram in the first round for occasions like this.
  3. Emotion is dangerous.  The building will be intense.  The Bears defense will be defense, especially coming off the funeral of Brian's mother.  Keep it together.  Play intense.  But play smart.  (I'm looking at you, Meriweather.)
  4. Bear the hell down.

    Burma Shave.

  • I think we lost the Most Valuable Blog award to some hockey site. (Goddamn Chicago people). But coming to the site post game night is one of my favorite things. Do it proud today, boys. Bears down like muthfuckuhs.

  • In reply to Jeff Hughes:

I simply don't see how that could be. Maybe a hometown writer gets all his Chicago buddies to vote. Still though, I have to check out that blog. The only way it could be better than this one is if it routinely features naked dancing ladies.

  • In reply to Jeff Hughes:

    Hockey? Did you say HOCKEY?

Look, I was raised on Bobby, Stan, Pierre Pilote, Bill White & Whitey Stapleton, King Kong Korab, Pit Martin and Tony-Zero and I'm glad that Chicago, at long last, has a viable NHL franchise again and a Stanley Cup to boot but...Hockey?

    Who'd have thunk it?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

no finer announcer than lyod petit
my favorite was eric nesterenko ....he could kill a penalty

  • In reply to Jeff Hughes:

what connection to hockey do the judges of this contest have
and how much did it take to convince them

  • ... Game face

    Im stoked.

5 am right now... ready to start drinking

  • In reply to Maxx:

That a boy maxx. I started tailgating on the couch about 30 minutes ago. Gotta watch the game at a bar today on shitty TV's, but I feel loyalty to the owner. He's a Chicago guy who owns a blues bar, and during the black hole that was the 90's, his bar was the only one that would ALWAYS have the game. If I'm drinking Jameson shots at 3:15 and stumbling home about 4:30, that means the Bears won. BEAR DOWN!

  • man cave cleaned
    3 foot sub ordered
    Rum and Cokes ready
    Asskicking ready to commence

Bear down boys, no big plays, make them earn every catch and fucking punish, FUCKING PUNISH, Brees and Ingram.

  • I may even have to bring my comp to the Ale House today where a smallish mob of Bears fans congregate on Sundays.

    Bear down like crazy, compadres!

Don't be a hater, blend your own bacon. Playuh.

  • I'm risking a new sports bar today...but one thing I do know: da Bears are gonna kick some Saints ashcans all over the field for 60 minutes.

    Bear Down!!!

  • Payton jersey? Check

Forte is due to have another big game. He gets to show off in front of the home state.
Got my roadie beer and heading out the door. BEAR DOWN! I want to read lots of positive thoughts when I get home later.

  • Since it worked last week...

In the infamous words of South Sider Clubber Lang.

    "Prediction? PAIN."

    Bear Down!

    More bacon!

  • Not gonna lie, it's really fucking weird to see Kreutz in a gold #50

  • 3 and out with Jay running for his life. Let's see what Sean Peyton has been workin on.

  • In reply to Shady:

Tried to get the Bears with off balance with a bootleg and a screen., which the Bears were able to stop another 3 and out. Are we going to see a defensive battle today gents?

  • that was about as bad a three and out first series as I've seen.

  • I sure hope the O shows up.

  • Damn, Hester! Common Man.

Clutts hit that fumble out of bounds. That dude is johnny on the spot!

  • Hockey. Jeez.

  • Hum...our 2010's OLine is back?

  • Man. C'mon Skunk! You're better than that!

  • Pay that man!

  • That's what I'm talking about. Nice run matty

  • PAY DA MAN! double deuce!

  • Go Matty! Guaranteed boys, guaranteed.

  • Pay dat man geez monee!

    Great blocking!

  • I said, "Pay that man!"!

  • Huge swing of emotion there in the dome, you don't get to see a Bears QB turn what looks to be a big sack into a huge 1st down completion. Thank you.

  • Way to hold the ball Earl. Ouch.

  • Nooo, Bennett. Hopefully he just got the wind knocked out.

    Still made the catch.

  • C'mon Earl, get up. Not what we need.

  • Poor Duke, you knew it was going to happen. What do you think, broken rib or back?

  • In reply to Shady:

  • Martz is not calling a clean game. Why was that not a penalty for that hit on Bennett? Leading with the helmut?

  • Tough hit on Bennett. Dirty? You're okay Earl. C'mon mang.

By the way, I like the way the bears have been rotating their backs. No more, 2 series Forte, 1 series other guy. Now, Forte is THE guy who gets spelled for an occasional blow (not that kind, Coach), the way it should be.

  • This is crazy.

  • Well, we'll see what The Dane is capable of today. RW and The Duke out? Ouch.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

Hurd too should get some playing time.

  • there we go Martz. Get back to the run.

  • cutler went to school on that play
learn from it brother and move on

time outs before critical 3rd downs
be smart and use the time wisely dbl.m

  • Is Earl out? Enter Sam Hurd.

Dang, their defense looks well schemed ...

  • Joe Buck: "He (Olin) actually took less money to come to New Orleans."

Really, Joe? That how it went down? How bout, "He fucked himself all the way to New Orleans."

  • cutler gets some respect.

  • In reply to huntinbare:

He got a Brady/Manning call. Amazing.

  • Carolina up 10-0 on the Packers.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

Newton is 8-10 with 96 yards and a TD

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

    Hell Yes!

  • DANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sanzensausage! TD!

  • getting too cute Martz

  • Go Panthers! Go Sanzy! Go Bears!

  • TD Bears. I'm buying boys, gather round.

  • Sanzenwaddle!

  • Welcome to the NFL son
thanks for wanting to be a bear

saints radio is praising the well designed play

  • Well done rookie!!
Fox, I hate you so much!!!

  • Really fucking troy you fag ass... if that was rodgers you would have been screaming bloody murder you fuck. And joe buck, have you ever even played the game. Assholes!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The hit on Jay last week was not called, maybe the one today was a make up.

  • Gould is kicking the shit out of the ball this year.

  • Are you fucking serious announcers? Jesus the bears hate is strong in the NFL.

  • If Buck would just stick to baseball and Aikman would fall off a cliff, I wouldn't have sudden urges to kill somebody.

  • the announcers say that if meachum gets thrown to the ground out of bounds
    why was cutler protected
    micro- man on the sidelines:
he says payton is trying to get the officials to look at the screen

  • You can't run on us, bitch!

  • Bullshit spot.

  • time for a sack

  • Holy shit the Panthers are taking it to the Packers. Olsen just had a 34 yard pass down in the red zone ready to score again.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

Carolina 10 first downs Packers 0

  • Peyton is calling a good game.

  • Watch the fake here.

  • how is melton doing
    haven't heard his name

  • In reply to huntinbare:

Bears has AO inside on that last NO drive.

  • The patience Forte showed, waiting for the hole to open on that 8 yard draw shows he's maturing as an NFL running back.

    Pay. Dat. Mang.

  • And the Panthers are rolling over the 1/6 Packers!

  • Looks like Earl is back in.

  • nice tackle in front of the family mr. steltz

  • Yeah Izzy, beat that 1 on 1!

  • What a joke! Game over.

  • In reply to Scala:

    eeeeeeasy dude.

  • what the heck was that

  • God Damn 3rd and 12! too much time. Conte out there.

  • That sucked.

  • Safeties getting exploited right there, not a good sign.

  • what in thee fuck man. If the line gets zero preassure like that brees will do that to us allllll game long man.

  • Eh, pringles ... son ... the point of bend-don't-break defense .... well, how do we explain this to you again son .... the reason we look so goddman awful and conservative in our defensive looks 90% of the time is .... well .... WE DON'T GIVE UP THE #$@! LONG BALL !!!

  • I guess that means Gucci Gangsta is hurt?

  • Looked like Lovie was discussing Pringles future with him there ....

  • Common Hurd

  • Comedy of errors.

  • fuuuuck

  • Johnny Knox is looking more like the real Johnny Knox today.

Oh Sam, not looking so special on ST.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

????? how is knox responsible for shitty throws? and bad protection?

  • Our D NEEDS a stop here. Turnover would be better.

  • I thought the Saints had no pash rush.

  • I know it's early in the season, but damn, Cam Newton looks like the real deal!

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Its even more impressive early in the year considering as a rookie he didn't have OTA's.

  • I pray for you, Cutler. What a OLine!!

  • Momentum clearly in favor of New Orleans. The defense needs to rebound here while Mike Tice slaps some guys around.

  • yeah, recognize those stacked blitzes? Giants game last year anyone? Fuck.

  • dude, our Dline giving too much time!

  • are we not inspired today
seems pretty lacks out there sloppy
    put some heart into it

  • we're going to lose this game if the Dline doesn't get shit done man. They aren't getting anything done.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Marinelli is calling a very conservative game as usual, but this is Brees, we can't sit back and expect him to make mistakes with no pressure. Any chance of a blitz there Rod?

  • Can we get off the field on 3rd down? Too much too ask?

  • Peyton is toying with our D.

  • They have the Bears defense on their heels right now. They don't seem to be in attack mode.

  • reeeeeeeeeed... and shoooooooter!

  • is this all the effect of olin the mole
did he really give all our secrets away

  • Cannot run against the Bears. Cannot. Don't bother even fkn trying. Do what you do best Drew.

  • great tackle Jennings! He might be small, but he's a solid.

  • Also, it looks like Hester will have his chances at KR, but if Bennett is out, Martz might want him fresh for WR and Knox may be returning.

  • no, we're totally flat. everyone... just flat.

Hey Martz, tice... you didn't think Gregg Williams was going to blitz this game? Seriously? fucking seriously?

  • On the positive side, we score another TD and we're in the lead. Deep breaths. Belief.

  • Martz has shown me nuttin do far today. Our boys are getting beat in every phase of the game. Tis time to kick it up a notch.

  • Nothing special on special teams so far.

  • Don't depend on Devin in a crowd

  • How about a first down? Just one!!! Fuck!!!

  • yup, flat.

We need a big play. turnover, something.

  • Big drop right there, Brees still attacking the safeties.

  • They'll score here. But Lovie will give them a Lovie talking to at half time.

  • The Lach just fucking BLEW olin the fuck up!

  • Brian just steamrolled Olin

  • Intentional grounding - in the grasp, whatever, bullshit call.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    Complete fucking horseshit

  • fuck you troy and buck... were's the indignation!?!?

  • FGs are better than TDs but the offense really needs to step it up.

  • fuck. let's get into the locker room. Webb... common man.

  • Cutler has been a shell of himself since the big hit. Please prove me wrong Jay.

  • Vilma out. Check. Sam Hurd sighting? Please,

  • we need to come out of that locker room firing man. Someone from Lach's family needs to go into that locker room at halftime and fire these fucking guys up man.

  • No, Carimi!

  • There goes Carimi

  • Who comes in Omiyale? OMG.

  • shit. Omigod.

well, thank god we didn't pick up more olinemen in the offseason

  • In reply to MB30SD:

"We like the guys we have on our line .... we like J'Marcus, we've talked about him, Roberto's been with us for a while, Chris, you know how we feel about Chris ... we like our guys ... we'll take it from there ...."

  • He's walkin.......

  • nice. I can deal ith that.

  • now we need to come out and fucking destory them

  • Lost timeout on injury despite stopped clock? That sucks.

  • Automatic. Get your boys in the locker room and talk them down Lovie. I know we'll see a different team come out fro the second half. Rod, change it up mang.

  • We better keep this game close so we won't have to rely on passing protection by Omiyale.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

Or Webb, or Williams, or ....

  • Busted coverage is the play of the game so far, you can bet the Saints are going to test it again in the second half.

  • Well Brees is gonna pick us apart, he's like Rogers..gotta be in his face and we ain't doin it. Offensive line is like a sieve...Bet Cutler goes out with a concussion before it's all said and done if it dosen't improve vastly.

  • We need to establish the run and keep Brees away from the football. Pass pro isn't doing it today.

  • Something was missing ..... the Defense! The D hasn't done shit today, needs ome Peanut and Urlacher specials. I guess that's what the second half is for :o)

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Maybe we could start using the tight ends this half, as well.

  • So far the Bears are keeping it close but there is a sense that the Saints can break it open any time if the Bears don't find spark on offense. Lets keep in mind that the Bears are playing in the Super Dome which is a tough place to win in. I would like to see the Bears win the battle of field position in the second half and a stop deep in Saints territory can set the tone for the rest of the game. If the Bears don't stay within a touchdown for the rest of the game we should be ok. I can't help but notice that our D looks gassed. I'm not seeing the same intensity we saw last week. We need a turnover on the kickoff or deep in their territory to change the momemtum.

  • Was that a blit? Frak me backwards and call me Brenda ....

  • holy shit, a wr made a catch

  • Fuckin overthrows.

  • How was that not P.I. on Sanzy in the corner ? We've given up on the run looks like.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Apparently Lovie let em know about it.

  • In reply to Shady:

    The non-PI call that is.

  • Hey, Martz, heard of running the ball?

  • Turnover time boys. Everyone needs to be thinking turnover. Time for a collective positive thought boys. Still verrry close game.

  • Sack Fumble time.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

    Not that kind.

  • Why do we have to go behind before Marinelli uses his blitz packages? Good field position let's run it now.

  • Can't run.

  • In reply to Stuck in MN:

    It would appear so.

  • Peppers swallowed Sproles

  • Good thing KD can block right? Jebus that was bad.

  • Interception would be nice Mr. VIP.

  • Fuck. Fumble. Nice block Davis.

  • Cutler getting punished again, this feels like a rewind to last year.

  • this will be short and sweet for the Saints...our oline fucking SUCKS!!!!!!!

  • Brianwatch GRaham on 3rd and goal here ...

  • Our D should have blitz on that 3rd and goal.

    Fucken Briggs.

    Kellen Davis owes us 6points

  • In reply to 4ever85:

Apaprently we only blitz the run.

  • Briggs blew that one

  • Was it over when the GErmans bombed Pearl Harbor? Defense get us some turnovers, just do what you do ...

  • That looked too easy.

  • I know, let's just leave a guy completely uncovered in the end zone. Fuck.

  • Brian's Mom passing away was tough on our whole team. I just hope the Good Lord grants our team some favor from here on out.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

Dear Lord, could you also shine a little glory on Baltimore? Amen.

  • we have NO run game

  • In reply to 4ever85:

We do, we're just not committed to it.

  • In reply to Shady:

Nah, we have no run blocking whatsoever. We do not run block well.

  • This is a BIG 3rd down coming up for the O.

  • Have to make that catch Sanzenbacher, c'mon rookie.

  • Sausagefingers should have caught that ball.

  • In reply to NY Bears Fan:

You're gonna blame that drop on Cutler, Aikman? Really?

  • Get a turnover. Please.

  • Hopefully Pringles is injured. Can somebody maybe cover Graham please?

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    NOT injured, obviously ....

  • No pass rush, TE all day.

Bound to happen, Major Wright, head down, injured

  • Major Wrong, gotta keep your head up there.

  • This ain't good. Our players are dropping like flies.

  • Need I remind everyone how important Chris Harris is to our D?

  • This hasn't looked good since the first quarter. Can we at least see some life please.

  • Man, I sure am glad we got Gucci.

Imagine, Steltz and Conte back there!

  • You have to think if the Bears don't limit the Saints to 3 or less on this drive the game is bloused.

  • In reply to Shady:

This game is beyond over. We're out of our depth here. Hopefully no one is too seriously hurt and we can bring a healthy squad into next week's game.

  • We've been saying it since watching college game film of him since he was drafted. Pringles. You CAN'T lead with your head. Ask Waffle. Glad you're okay, but you're majorly close to killing yourself. Head up, mang!

  • This is not only NOT pretty but just plain pathetic: since the the middle of the first quarter the Saints have mopped up the field with the Bears.

  • Tackling getting sloppy.

  • Blouses. Hope things don't get too ugly.

  • Sorry boys but I'm calling it. Bears will be 1-1.

  • Game over. Put in the backups and let them get some playtime.

  • Out of bounds. I hate football.

  • Napoli - 1 --- Milan - 1

Easier on the nerves to watch the Red Zone Bears and the Lions kick the shit out of K.C.

Cam Newton yeah ok - real good --- get those Packers.

Maybe the rain will kill the grubs in my lawn with the poison I put down.
    Goddam grubs.

  • I thought every TD this year is under review?!?

  • No challenge?? WTF?? Again?? Lovie thinks those red challenge flags are like fkn kryptonite ...

  • Good thing they're reviewing every score now. Geez.

  • How the fuck was that TD confirm upstairs when he clearly stepped out at the 1?

  • In reply to Shady:

    Reviewed by Stevie Wonder. great.

  • I. Hate. My. Life.

  • Hurd = Shit.

  • False start Frank, there's a shocker.

Should be interesting to see if they've thrown in the towel here, or still believe ...

  • Jimmy Mac would still have a swagger at this point, he'd expect to win the game ...

  • Ok things are getting ugly.

  • Hope you didn't put TOO much on the bears, Irish.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

Had them with DET, CLE and BAL. And I thought BAL were the best bet ... 400 all told. Throwing 50 on PHI, DAL, CIN, NE, HOU. Won't be backing the BEars again though. My Bears are not who I thought they were.

  • Someone explain 'hot read' to Jay Christopher.

  • Why the fuck did Lovie not challenge that TD?

  • Albert in Tucson - you get nervous about the Bears - why?
They will win the NFC North, NFC and the big bowl.

You're in Arizona so relax and send nerves to State and Jackson.

Panthers remain in striking distance in the fourth.

  • In reply to Jack Lacan:

You need a brain scan to see if you have one. Let's let the Bears do some real winning, develop an O-line and some semblance of consistency before you plant the flag of victory atop Mt. NFL. I think talk of playoffs and Super Bowls is obtuse in the extreme. WTF is your deal? And the Panthers were NEVER going to beat a professional team and org like the Packers. Eat you hearts out, loser Bear fans. You might squeeze by with 8-9 wins this year.

  • i left 5 min before the half and just got back
    i shoulda stayed away
    how bad is this shit
was it on us or did they out scheme and out perform us

  • fb_avatar

    No turnovers equals no win

  • Jay Cutler yelling at the little leprechaun QB coach Shane Day presumably for not getting the plays into Jay in a timely fashion.

  • In reply to Shady:

Again, Jimmy Mac would be calling his own plays regardless .... I'm still not convinced about Cutler under pressure. He doesn't thrive on it, he doesn't punish teams for coming after him.

  • Next week obviously becomes huge.

  • Same Sad-Sack Story.

  • Our Oline look HORRIBLE.

If they play like this next week, bring out the stretcher for Jay

  • anybody keeping track of the # of sacks on Jay..what is it 7 or now

  • In reply to MaddBearfan:

It's the hits not the sacks. A lot.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Defenders of Jerry Angelo please step forward now ....

  • Wow, see the hit on Sanzy? Jebus ...

  • Feels like I'm stuck in a time warp!!! Cutty getting his ass beat!

  • This o line is garbage. FML.

  • Second game... second starter on online gone. I still don't know how the fuck you think you're going to protect jay without a real fucking online Angelo.

We also came out flat as a board. The penalties are ridiculous. And cut ty was terrible today, fucking terrible despite the nonexistent protection.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    We got bad Jay today

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

Show me a QB who could do anything with 0.7 seconds and no receivers Murph. Just bad from top to bottom. Coaching, gameplan, execution, effort. Bad. Bad. Bad.

  • In reply to #76 Mongo Murph:

You got totally naked unprotected Jay today. How about giving him a chance to stand in the in last week? Bear fans are so dense and wrong-headed to blame Cutler for the organization's O-line, mediocre (at best) receivers, totally inadequate use of Forte, no a safeties, aging linebackers, Jerry Angelo - biggest douche in pro sports, bad head coach, no org integrity, the list goes on and on. It's NOT Cutler. He's a great talent, who - like any quarterback with a good arm - needs a couple of seconds and reliable people to throw to. GIve him to McCarthy in GB and he'll be a Pro Bowler.. It's the whole org, ,stupid!

  • this is brutal to watch

  • tice gets blown up and ruins the bus in the bayou

  • We thought Olsen was bad blocking? Kellen Davis is invisible.

  • Jay, get a time with a oline for real, ok? Good luck.

  • Take him out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the d line is not paying back the favor
this should be priority # one next week
get some push and pay them back for this sht

  • Murph... we got bad Angelo again this year. We will not win anything without an oline man. Fuck.

  • I can't even blame Cutty today, although he never seemed like much of an audible-guy . .but that line is last year's line. J'Marcus sucks on the right, left, upstairs downstairs. CW sucks. Spencer sucks. Omelette, well he's a backup to the guys that suck. Garza is past it.

Do we really want a turnover now? Don't send Jay back in ...

Can't wait to see Roy's O-line grades this week!!

My God, this is early eighties bad.

  • Webb is a total waste at left tackle. I never thought I'd say this but Omiyale is better over there

  • I mean, a team.
How many sacks this year? 80?

  • I hate Angelo. I hate Tice.

  • Total depression. I feel like I just got gang raped.

    Need booze.

  • This is about as bad of an O line as I've ever seen.

  • As a bears fan, I fear for our season. But I fear for Jay's life more. I feel bad for the guy. Fuck You, Angelo!

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

Fix the OLine, get a real WR!
    Fuck you JA!!
May God be with you, Jay Cutler.
    Season is over.
I'll wait for the 2012 Draft.
    Fuck you JA!!

  • the end of a punishing week
everything went to the sht can why not my football experience

these announcers are saying tell me anybody else who did anything for the bears besides forte
the other guy laughs and gives no reply

they just got through dragging up cutlers attitude in the plyoffs and blah blah blah

  • This is not in anyway Cutler's fault. Troy Aikman can eat a dick. A professional football team CANNOT let a defense get to the QB like that. I say bench the entire line and play Hannie next week. The people in there today don't even deserve to call themselves Pro.

  • Not only can't our Oline pass block, but neither can K.Davis or Bell.

  • In reply to 4ever85:

Davis looked like a joke out there. Wasn't he supposed to be the traditional blocking TE that Olsen wasn't?

  • In reply to Turgul:

Can't point at individuals. Nobody blocked anybody tonight. Nobody.

  • In reply to Turgul:

    Yea you got that right

  • death does not motivate this team
and neither did last weeks win
I thought we had moved beyond the wild swings of performance
    from week to week
i don't mind losing this game, but not this way

  • Kreutz looked good today, eh? Shame we couldn't find another 500K to shore up the O-line of our multi-billion dollar organization or sign an offensive lineman who won't be working in McDonalds next year. Shucks.
The Carolina game is even looking iffy now ...

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

what happened to spencer was he out there
the line got rattled and lacks mutaurity and composure
    sometimes nothing goes your way
but these guys have to understand that the game ain't over till it is over
they were soft, after the first few fists in the mouth

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

dude you are killing me. Kreutz admitted that he fucked up that salary thing. Carolina iffy? stop your nonsense.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Be afraid of Carolina,Newton and very afraid. I think RIvera is going to show the bozos in the Bears' front office who the real head coach is. He's an emotional players' coach and his troops and going to be fired up to crap on the team that crapped on their guy. Should be fascinating.

  • DaBears got dier ASSES handed to dem...BIGTIME!!!
Back the the drawing board! Eh?

  • it sounded like martz had no answer
    not much worked today
olin probrably got some gypsy voodoo queen to f with us today

  • The Lions and Packers will sweep us. I know it's only week two, but man we looked terrible out there today. The Saints got zero push on the Packers last week. Wow.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    dumbest comment ever Irish

  • In reply to Gucci Mang:'re starting to make sense. "Gucci," you gotta get your head out of your ass.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

    seriously man... wtf?

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Glad you think we can split the series with the Vikings.
    Get a grip.

  • Well, I feel stupid for thinking the Bears would win today.

The main story: Saints offensive line totally dominated the Bears defensive line.

The sidebar: if the Saints pay less than $100,000 in fines (spear on Bennett and cheap late hit on Sanzenbacher), one of us needs to become investigative "journalist" to expose fraud/favoritism in the NFL,

  • In reply to SC Dave:

Dave, the frustrating part is that it is not out of the realm of possibility for us to win. That 3rd down Turk McBride sack fumble on Kellen Davis' pitiful block was a kick in the fucking nuts. we came out in the third quarter made them go 3 and out and then proceeded to do the one thing that would kill us.....give up a sack fumble in our own zone. it was 16-13 at that point. you could see Kellen realizing it was his fault as they recovered the fumble. Nice.

  • Someone email martz and tell him that Kellen Davis is not Matt Spaeth no matter how much he wants him to be. That was my turning point of the game. 3rd and 12 Major Fuckup giving up a 75 yd pass and then on a key 3rd down dropping 7 steps with no running back to chip and Kellen Davis giving up a Turk McBride sack fumble on our 30yrd line. Martz really called a shit game today.
You can tell me that our only defense against blitzes is to line up Cutler under fucking center with no backs in the backfield and just throwing a quick hitter to the inside slot guy. You can't tell me that.

Then some awesome drive killing penalties by Omiyale and Webb and then Webb inside blocking on a 3rd down when even CW had no one to block in front of him thereby letting the outside guy RUN STRAIGHT INTO CUTLER. Are you fucking kidding me Webb?? Are you fucking joking right now? you looked to block inside when even the guy to your inside had to look inside to block someone???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  • Interesting point made by a commentator in the SD NE game. If you haven't got a big receiver and a QB who can drop it to his shoulder then you're behind in the nFL passing game. Ain't that the sad truth.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Cutler can run when he needs to. The Bears are so far beyond worrying about having a big receiver. They don't have a real receiver, period. They have a bunch of converted D-backs and kick returners posing as wide receivers. Bennet is the closest they have, and we see what happens when he goes out. No one gets open.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

Lions: QB, big WR and D, Check! Bye playoffs...

  • In reply to Scala:

    uh, fuck that

  • In reply to Scala:

    yeah, fuck that shit.

  • In reply to Scala:

    are you serious?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    Sadly, yes...You'll see...

  • Thanks Angelo.

  • Before I read any comments on the game, I have to give my opinion. Did this game remind anyone else of the Giant's game? Does Martz hate Cutler, or is he some kind of sadomasochist who likes watching his quarterback be "punished"? Did Martz learn anything last year? Seven step drops and passing on almost every play DOES NOT WORK FOR ANY TEAM! How many rushing attempts did the Bears have today? It can't be more than 15 with about 50 passes. That is a losing recipe EVERY FUCKING TIME! Ok, now I'll go back and read what you all had to say.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

yeah, gotta get to the point where we don't have to screen or dink it to the slot guy. Cutler had even less time than the Giants game.

  • In reply to Gucci Mang:

that sht works better between multiple runs
i hope lovie has him in the chair across from his desk and is lecturing him like pacino did when talking to the Baird Bums

I'd like to take a flamethrower to that creeps playbook

    what is this man's problem
the players don't try to fit your playbook
you try to fit your playbook to the players

he isn't under contract much longer is he
we may get to the promised land with a different approach than his

in that movie about the prep school experience
    the "scent of a woman"
pacino takes the car out for a spin even though he was blind
    that is what happened today
but lovie ...being lovie.....sat in the passengers seat and watched the destruction

  • In reply to TheFifth:

Very similar to the Giants game, yes. He abandoned the run, partially I think, because we couldn't run. Just like last year.

  • In reply to IrishSweetness:

don't you gotta keep punding it though to teach these young linemen

when does Dbl. M. think they are gonna pick it up
    in their sleep.
    we wasted this day
even losses should be a teaching experience
    today was utter confusion

  • Hmmmmmmmmmm.

  • In reply to phrozentundra:

funny how you're abscent when you loose or we win. Cunt.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Refresh my memory, when was the last time either happened? Oh yeah, nice to hear from u again too. We all know all this shit to date is meaningless. Next week is the first week of football to the purist. Back to play in the shit pit. Look for the cheesehead with the Halas on top and maybe I'll let you buy me one.

  • In reply to phrozentundra:

we beat the Panthers with Todd Collins. You guys won by 30 today??

  • Wow. Are we bad. Did I just watch that?

  • In the back of my mind, when I heard that the whole defensive unit decided to attend Brian's moms funeral, I kinda had a feeling we would be looking at a let down this week. Sometimes doing the right thing in the face of tragedy costs you but in the long run it's worth it. Give the guys a chance to regroup for the Cheese next week and lets just hope the Bears take this humbling loss as an opportunity to regroup and work on their game. If this loss had of occurred absent Brian's mom passing away, I'd put more stock in it. In the scheme of things, it's only one game. Cheer up and Bear Down brothers.

  • In reply to BigDaddy:

The Bears simply don't have the players to beat the Packers at least on paper. I realize the game is played on the field, but the Packers have a real organiation, really great impact players on BOTH sides of the ball, a winning culture, a no bullshit winning attitude coach and Aaron Rodgers with a line that protects him and receivers that catch his well-aimed bullets....not to mention great feet. Tell me again where the Bears are superior except in the area of muddle-headed constantly whining bitch fans.

  • When your go-to wide out is Great Dane - you are fucked. We can dream he is a mini-Wes Welker all day, but he is not.

What to say? Tice fucked up.

This may ignite the Tice-Martz hate in the locker room.

Omlette needs to go back to LT and Webb needs to come out. If Carmini is finished for a few games, then we are in big trouble.

The O-line is pure awful. Martz has nothing to go to but the Forte screen, and the Saints had that sniffed out.

Hester looked like a bullshit excuse for wideout today. He dropped a first down, and he checked out from there.

  • Jay survived to fight another day. Izzy kind of played shitty today as well. I would have rather seen Reed in there. Izzy looked like Mark Anderson out there falling for every single naked bootleg. It was like New Orleans had a running over under on how many times they could fake Izzy out. If Izzy stays even remotely home on any of them he forces an incompletion or kills Brees. Instead Izzy bit inside and Brees hit Jimmy Graham about 123 times in a row.

  • In reply to Gucci Mang:

    c'mon woot-woot

  • The good news:
    • Let’s not panic, this was one bad game, in the dome, against a one-loss desperate to win saints team
    • Forte is the man
    • If there was one game in our first three, this was the one I was ok losing (have to set the tone in game one, and FUUUUUCK the packers)
    • A couple good teams had their ‘this game’ last week. We can come back against the packers easily next week – and if we do, we’re back on track.

    Why I’m worried:
    • You CANNOT bring in ONE fucking guy, whose a fucking ROOKIE, to fix a line that was the worst in the NFL for the last 3 years running. As an NFL GM, how does that even work in your mind? How do you reason that through to conclusion?

    • Injuries – I knew we weren’t going to get the silly breaks we got all last year. Yeah, one of our stars hasn’t gone down (yet thank jesus), but we’ve had critical losses in our two, no three, thinnest areas on the field. We lose too many more and we’re going to be proper fucked… propper fucked.

    • Safeties – See #1. How the fuck do you think we’re going to get better with a 5th rd white safety, a guy who is one hit away from a wheelchair/TD, and a pimp… who is also brittle it would seem. Two ciritcal holes in our team, three years running, zero real solutions.

    • Despite the fact that Jay was once again running for his life, he was bad today… not INT bad (which thank god was a relief), but he litterally overthrew or missed at least 5-7 throws that were easily completable to wide open dudes. I get this is because he’s a biiiit touchy once protection starts to break down. PTSD is real, I get it. But he didn’t do much to help today.

    • Flat – We were flat all game. Maybe it was the complete downer that was lach’s passing, but man… terrible. Zero excitement/passion/energy. Which lead to pretty much no turnovers. That last peanut one was sweet, but we need that before the last TD. No turnovers no win as someone said.

    • Briggs – I don’t want to believe this, but he’s been very very quiet for Briggs. I saw him make some nice tackles, but pretty much NOTHING impactful like usual. He needs to get his fucking head straight and make shit happen.

    • WR – we lose earl and no one can get open… no one? Wow. Just wow.

    • Oline. Oline. Oline. Safeties. Safties. Safeties. Oline. Oline. Oline

    • If the lack of a just fucking serviceable oline and real starting safeties is our undoing this year, I want angelo’s fucking head. Bottom line. There will be NO excuse. None. Nothing. Nada. 3 linemen in the draft and one or two in FA along with a real FS. They were out there, we had the money. Period.

Lastly, I fukcing HATE joe buck and that texas ahole. Fuck both of you bear hating cunts. Disgusting to have to listen to.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

And yeah, agree with some of that dave. I should have made it a bullet. Zero pressure on Brees = loss. Period.

What the fuck happened to melton, toe, and even pep?!?!?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Gotta agree on the Earl thing though. I really hoped we had more than one pass receiver. Maybe Dane can become another, but the rest just don't get the concept of finding space.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

They might be less disgusting to listen to if the Bears exhibited a modicum of proficiency in one area of the game and WON...instead of losing my 17. Your comments are both abstruse and obtuse. Give it up.

  • In reply to jalber9648:

Addendum...typical of Bear fans to bitch about the commentators when their team is stinking up the field. How many therapy sessions a week are you now attending in your vain attempt to locate reality?

  • I repeat, today the loss was primarily our defensive line being totally dominated by the Saints. Piss and moan about Martz, Cutler, etc, but today was on the defense.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

    Are you serious?

  • In reply to gpldan:

    Absolutely, totally, completely serious.

  • In reply to SC Dave:

And if the defensive line plays as weak next week, we will lose by 35.

  • For the 50th time, Jay CAN NOT CALL AN AUDIBLE in this offense. Quit f-cking calling for him to do it.

The receivers looked awful without Bennett in the game.
Was Forte dinged up in the 4th or just worn the f-ck out?
This offensive line is not terrible, but they are not remotely good enough to stand up to a blitzing D when we are playing from behind. And that's doubly true when Carimi went out. We better be hoping like hell that his knee is OK after some treatment and rest.

I was stunned that the Saints rushing TD was not overturned and placed on the 1. Can't wait for the league office to explain what happened there.

Peanut forces another fumble - and then is fast enough to recover it.

Major Wright and Conte at safety were like the Keystone Kops out there.

  • And Kansas City may be an 0-16 team with Charles out.

  • i don't get paid to coach the offense but has Martz ever heard over moving the motherfucking pocket to neutralize the nintendo blitzing that was going on? i mean how fucking obtuse do you have to be to just drop straight back every single time so they can play tee the fuck off Jay the entire second half.

No sprint outs? no bootlegs? no draws? no runs at all? Who the fuck was calling the plays in the second half? Greg Williams?

  • Just a couple of numbers. Bears sacked 6 times, NO once. Each team lost one fumble. No interceptions. Net yards...Bears 246, Saints 382. C'mon Bear fans. Your team just hasn't achieved elite status and there's NO SIGN that it will. It's pathetic until the McCaskeys sell and a real group of football people take over this proud, but crumbling franchise.
