Podlesh, Spaeth to Join Bears

Podlesh, Spaeth to Join Bears

Adam Podlesh, the Bears second major Jewish acquisition of the 2011 off-season, will replace Brad Maynard at the punter spot.  The Bears also acquired Steelers tight end Matt Spaeth.  Spaeth is the equivalent of adding another offensive lineman - and he's a good one.

What are we waiting for?

  1. Will the Bears overpay Olin Kreutz to keep him from jumping ship to San Francisco?
  2. What is the marketplace for Corey Graham and Nick Roach?  Will the Bears let either leave town?
  3. Where is the offensive line help coming from?
  4. How close are Carimi and Paea to signing?

  • Oy Vey!

New rules: If he hits a coffin corner kick, we're not allowed to say he "nailed" it.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    tee hee

  • In reply to MB30SD:

There's a tasteless circumcision joke in there somewhere, just have to find it.

  • getting more and more nervous

  • Brad Smith will not be a Bear.Greg Olsen is on the trade block, and we are in a bidding war with the 49iners...

Please, do not overpay for our beloved dino center, or at least offer a sweet one year deal.

  • jenkins?

  • I'm sorry, but not having effective Wildcat plays in the book with people to run them is like going into combat without your blade. You may not need it, but you're fucked if you do.

Bears redzone sucked, and Smith was a multi-factor weapon. We're gonna let Manning go and Scrappy go, and NOT get Smith?

    Fuck.

Also, Steelers looking to sign Plax. Rapeherburger wanted somebdy who physically shot themselves in the foot, rather than just metaphorically.

  • In reply to gpldan:

So 5 years ago before Miami brought the wildcat back... everybody just sucked in the red zone?

  • In reply to gpldan:

    hee hee

  • Teams like CHI, CLE, STL, DEN shopping for DTs, also, but could be more bargains. Anthony Hargrove and Danny Muir also drawing attention

  • How sweet would it be to be trading away Olsen for a decent starting wideout...am I in the clouds again?

  • Every time CN tells me I am posting too fast, I want to squeeze that little gnomes throat until his face turns as red as his hat.

Rodgers makes his play for Wisconsin Jones:

    http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/28833/rodgers-calls-james-jones-priority-no-1

  • Would love James Jones!!!

  • In reply to Crown:

you'll get nothing and like it Spaulding!

  • So far we've added a fucking punter and our 10th fucking TE.

It's 2:30 at Halas Hall on D-day and nothing but silence. This is looking more and more like a jerry A. ass-fuck snipe hunt.

Who else are we going to let walk without replacing? Manning, olin, girly, davis, AA.... let's just let all of our fucking FAs bail and not pick anyone up Jerry. It's looking more and more like we're fucked (yes, I think the sky is actually falling... going outside to check right now).

  • Does this mean we are cutting that fat tub of shit knowns as man of moola? I don't see why else we would pickup this Spaeth character. The whole Olsen email debacle is reason # 697 that Jerry Angelo is a fucking douche. I'm hoping we end up with Roy E. Williams. Drake coached him at texas, Martz coached his best season ever in Detroit, it makes sense. But then again, who the fuck knows. Scrappy do to the vikings makes me think we're going to re-sign graham. I don't see him getting any opportunity anywhere else to play corner, and now we need a special teams ace more than ever with Scrapolicious gone.

  • Looking for a new blog, my posts only appear half of the time i write them, and then it takes 20 minutes for them to post.. It's been fun.

  • Wow, I'm trying to just take a wait & see approach but I'm waiting and all I see is our FA leaving and nothing really noteworthy coming in!

Didn't we just pay huge money for a blocking TE last year? Now we give up a passing threat for another blocking TE...don't get m wrong, GOlsen is soft, but shit man.

I know he has been declining for years but dare I say we "need" Olin?

Really wanted Sidney Rice. Almost laughable seeing all the moves going on and the only one listed on ESPN for the Bears is our punter signing.

Prove us wrong boys. Make something happen.

    Oh yeah, and pay Forte!

  • Boers and Boerstien reported that Manofmoolah will be or has been released.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

    Confirmed by Biggs:

  • Sadly, I'm not surprised by our lack of moves.

We got a top dollar QB and a top dollar DE in the last 2 years. We made the NFC championship, and seats were packed all year.

Where is the motivation to spend for anything beyond filling the roster? I haven't seen it, and I don't know that we will...

Will you stop going to games? Maybe, but Joey Meatballs will gladly take your place.

Will they feel bad when we don't make the playoffs? Not until next year.

Order out of chaos - signings out of no playoffs.

  • In reply to Who is Willie Gault:

Joey Meatball will always fill the cheap seats. Salvatore Meatball, his ponzi scheme cousin on the City Hall dole, he may not renew his skybox without a reason to bring his Godfather there.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Since when are $9 domestics not enough to bring out the Godfather?!?!

Mark Cuban, please buy the Bears, and I'll buy more beers.

    Has it come to this?

  • Why am I not surprised? All this fuckin cash flow an nothing. Angelo thinks just cause we made it that far last year that we don't need any improvement for this year. Fuckin shit man!

  • Fuck you Chicago Now...

  • Fuck you Chicago Now, in the ass hole

  • I had to sign out and back in to just leave a comment..

I was going to say we cut lard butt and it wouldn't let me..

I think we are going after someone really good or we are paying Forte a lot.. because we are trading Olsen..someone will want him.

  • After my rant about ManofMoolah yesterday, he's gone. I should have ranted sooner. What are we gonna get for Girly Thor? A 6th rounder? Fuck me. If that dope JA is waiting until all the other GM's are out of money, we're going to have a roster of cannon fodder. Won't that be fun to root for!

Hey Doc, Cycle Oregon is next month. I'll give you an update when I get back.

  • i come out of 2 meetings and am faced with this bullshit???

Instead of holding on to Olsen and getting a productive 50 catch year out of him we tell Rosenhaus to shop him? we won't get a fucking bag of dicks for him which will result in us letting go of him for nothing and not bringing in anyone to replace his contributions or we trade him for a 5th rounder in 2012 which Jerry will waste on a 5'11 195 lb athlete from West Texas A&M Culinary Institute that will be bagging groceries several months from falling out of football. Vintage Angelo you fucking cocksucker.

  • In reply to Waffle 2.0:

and we won't get any of our targeted linemen, and we will miss out on any DT we had our eye on and we won't bring in any WR to help out Cutty.
Roy Williams can be had for a song. Give him a fucking shot. He has to have some pride left in him. Without Olsen, our receivers are now:
Bennett, Hester, Knox and a bunch of guys that may not make the roster. Even Sheed is gone. DA gone. Olsen INEXPLICABLY either gone or traded for an old Chipotle gift card.

  • In reply to Waffle 2.0:

It's all happening, Waffle. New thread has it. A bag of chips, like I said before.

  • In reply to Waffle 2.0:

The bit about A&M Culinary Institute made my day. I love this Effin blog!

  • Ah. I thought it just happened because a buddy of mine said he just rode it for two of the days. He must have meant he rode the course they will be using. The San Juan's were bitchin'. The ride was small compared with what you do, but I'm not an endurance man by any stretch, so it was kind of challenging for me. Not too bad, but hard enough.

  • In reply to Doc Nitty 34:

Cycle Oregon has a 2-day ride and a week-long ride. I'm doing the week-long ride in Sept. I'd love to ride in the San Juan's. I've done Cycle Washington once with Adventure Cycling. It went out to Whidbey Island and then did a big loop on Hwys 20, 153, 97 and 2. Very scenic. Hotter than a MoFo once we were East of the mts.

Hopefully numb nuts will figure out sitting on the McCheapsky's wallet isn't going to get it done. Crazy!

  • I rather get rid of Olsen for something rather than pay for him....

I watched our new tightend a lot because of my roommate. He is good.

  • Ochocinco to the Pats for a 6th and 7th? (Sorry Carson, you no trade)

More wheelin' and dealin' taking place (aside from the Bears)

  • Source tells me Northwestern and Morgan Park product Corbin Bryant didn't pass his physical with the Bears and the DT won't be with team.

  • In reply to Artoo:

that sucks for the local kid. this was his shot and he blew it.

  • Forte might hold out (per Twitter)

    skjensen Sean Jensen
#Bears RB Matt Forte is seriously considering not reporting to training camp, according to a source. Gonna be a lot of drama in Bourbonnais

  • In reply to Sarcastiholic:

    awesome

  • AdamSchefter: As @ClaytonESPN reports, Patriots have acquired Chad Ochocinco after he accepted a restructured 3-year contract

    Now I am depressed.

  • Ok.. Some shit bettter go down tomm.. some trades or signing.. MB... Why didn't I see the light..

    Bullshit man.

  • Brad Biggs
Bears are in pursuit of just released Cowboys WR Roy Williams per

  • Brad Biggs
Just filed story: #Bears have traded Greg Olsen to #Panthers for player (not Steve Smith) & draft pick

  • Just filed story: #Bears have traded Greg Olsen to #Panthers for player (not Steve Smith) & draft pick

  • In reply to Artoo:

This trade better not involve Olsen for Jamar Williams.

  • In reply to Vicp71:

i will stab myself in the neck with my pen if Jamar Williams is the player in question and it cost us one of our best offensive weapons.
There is no reason why we couldn't have kept olsen this year while bringing on Spaethe, releasing Manu and picking up Roy Williams. No reason why that couldn't have happened.

  • In reply to Vicp71:

That's so sad i can't even start to laugh at that

  • In reply to Vicp71:

the trade was for a first string water boy and a great towel guy prospect if Angelo holds true to form.

Get the bong out of Halas Hall before they inflict further damage quick!!!

  • Say it.. and it will be done

  • Willie Colon resigns with the Steelers - 5 years, $29 million

  • and of course when Jerry is involved there has to be some aspect of the fucking deal that is ass backward or nonsensical. in this case it is the fact that the name of the mysterious player we traded for is not available and we traded a player that can impact our team NOW for a draft pick like he is Belichek or some shit. he's not going to do shit with that draft pick. what a fucking fuckstick.

  • In reply to Waffle 2.0:

    +6 pts

  • In reply to Shady:

i have to stop ranting Shady, it's not going to change anything. It's just frustrating to be on the verge of success and to have your GM pee on it.

  • In reply to Waffle 2.0:

    No. Don't stop.

  • Dumping G-reg better mean were going after Roy E or Braylan.

  • Wonder if Angelo still has Dez Clark's phone number...

I will try my best to withhold comment until we see how this offense pans out, but right now it looks like Mad Mike Martz has Jerry's ear.

Nice guy that Thor, but he never seemed to live up to the lofty expectations bestowed upon him. I mean do any of you remember him actually breaking a tackle? Regardless I wish him the best of luck in Carolina with his new QB Cam Newton, except of course when he faces Da Bears.

It's nice the Bears are focusing on TEs who can actually block, but we can only hope (like year after GD year) they find a solution for this sorry attempt of an O line. Not to mention a WR who has experience might actually know what they're doing when shit breaks down. I'm also expecting Cutler to improve this year regardless of the pieces around him. Things were pretty bad last year.

  • I fuckin hate JA... I really, honestly can say that I hate that person. I try not to say hate but he has gone too far . This will Not be a good decision.
