'Da Bear Jew' T-Shirt is Now Available!

After deliberating a series of t-shirt ideas over the past month or so, Jerry Angelo went and solved the dilemma by drafting a Jewish offensive lineman.  As you know, we don't get rich making DaBearsBlog.  These t-shirts are our pledge drive, our way of raising some money for the day-to-work entailed in the site.

Here is the new shirt for the 2011 off-season.  So just buy it and don't think about it.

  • OK, if JSOC can find and kill Osama, then CERTAINLY the NFL and NFLPA can settle this mess and move on!

  • Hilarious.

  • that is frickin awesome!

I didn't know you were part of the tribe Jeff... but I guess it makes sense. Hughes and all.

  • i will be completely honest and say that the old shirts didn't do anything for me but this new shirt is truly a work of art. The star of david is perfect.

    quick thought:

do you think the reason they buried him at sea was to eliminate the possiblity of some sort of shrine or destination that would result in further muslim ridiculousness? Maybe that is why no country would want to take him. who knows. all i know is that there are about 30 dudes out there that will always have the knowledge that they went in and did the damn thing. They will be legends amongst the teams and someday there will be books and a Hanks/Spielberg movie about it. Michael Bay and Bruckheimer will try to get the rights but will be denied by the gov't. Mainly because they made Transformers 2.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

I'm wondering if they knew who took the shot. How'd you like to be that guy at the superbowl.

On the subject of burial at sea:
    (1) Israel has this problem all the time with the remains of suicide/homicide bombers. They send the families a very respectful care package, much to the chagrin of the families of captured Israelis who wait years to find out (if ever) whether their children are alive. The US probably wanted to avoid the problem and ditch the body right away. Ditto to questions of what a proper religious burial would be.
    (2) The mission was to kill, not capture, apparently. They have no use for the body and probably didn't want to create a target for further terrorist attacks where it was kept.
    (3) I'm waiting for the conspiracy theories to start. There are still no pictures of the body, no 3rd party confirmation... all we have is the government's word. In that respect, dumping the body at sea was arguably a mistake. Maybe Obama should keep a long form copy of the death certificate just in case.

Man, I never imagined I could get so happy over another man's death, but that's the one douch-bag on the planet that I wouldn't mind pissing into his lifeless ocular cavities.

    Schadenfreude indeed.

On a football draft note, here's some grades via bears official website.

The only guy that got it right was:

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Oh, and here's Nolan Nawrocki's grade of Bears draft:

    "Chicago Bears
With heavy influence from a strong-willed coaching staff featuring three former head coaches, GM Jerry Angelo addressed his two biggest needs at left tackle and defensive tackle with the selection of Gabe Carimi and Stephen Paea. The Bears aggressively moved up nine spots to land Paea, sacrificing the fourth-round pick that initially had been dangled in a trade gone bad with Baltimore. Neither Carimi nor Paea is flashy, but they are both sound, high-character talents capable of contributing readily. At California, FS Chris Conte wore the same No. 17 jersey that John Lynch once donned at Stanford and is not as big, strong or physical as Lynch but Angelo can hope he becomes a similar type of player. Mike Martz will get the opportunity to upgrade his backup quarterback situation with Nathan Enderle, a smart, heavy-footed, analytical pocket passer. West Virginia LB J.T. Thomas will have to fight for a roster spot. The Bears surrendered their seventh-round pick to select RB Harvey Unga in last year's supplemental draft. The Bears deserve credit for making sound selections in the first two rounds and manipulating the draft, even if they spurned the Ravens. They did a solid job filling needs.
    Grade: B"

That Conte pick is prob the biggest Boom/Bust one, esp since we didn't have a fourth, and I'm pretty sure we still needed an Olineman.

However, if we pick up two Guards in FA, this draft will look a lot better.

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

What we do in FA will be rescuing the draft. We lost a pick getting Paea. This guy was not guaranteed to be the next DT drafted and Mayock wasn't saying nice things about him last week. We need another safety like a hole in the head. Win now. What part does Jerry not get about 'win now'? Was that a 'win now' draft ? Two OL was the absolute minimum, now a corner wouldn't have gone astray - what about those undrafted dudes?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/09000d5d81f9f9fa/article/devlin-tops-list-of-best-available-undrafted-players?module=HP_cp2
    Two interesting ones :
. Mark Herzlich, LB, Boston College: If Herzlich would have been available in the 2009 draft, he would have been a top 10 or 15 pick. In May of 2009, Herzlich was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer, and after missing the entire season, returned to the field in 2010. Herzlich participated in practice just three times before playing in Boston College's 2010 season opener. He's a strong player (29 bench-press reps at the combine), and is very good at diagnosing plays (his four interceptions are evidence of that ability). He's a special player as far as work habits, and appears to slowly be regaining his speed and quickness.
Terrence Toliver, WR, LSU: A big receiver (6-4, 214 pounds) with 4.59 speed, Toliver tends to be a body catcher, allowing passes to get to his body rather than his hands. He had a good performance at LSU's pro day.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

i hope the Bears give that guy a shot. he is a warrior. he already beat cancer. Cannon is about to go through it. i'd rather take the kid who beat it.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

when it comes to the body catcher??? that dog don't hunt mang.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

The words 'buildings collapse in Obama's speech there was momentous. 10 years on and the question of three buildings being the subject of controlled demolitions is just ignored. Why? What's to hide?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

It's ignored because it's fucking idiotic, Irish.

  • In reply to Mastodon:

Saying that the WTC didn't come down because of terrorists flying planes, loaded with fuel and travelling at very high speed, into them isn't "expressing an opinion", it's rewriting history.
Granted, it's history as it is understood by a marginally retarded guy who left his college program early because the coach wouldn't start his older brother. And yet, it DOES matter and it does engender vitriol.
Why do people get pissed off when assholes deny the Holocaust occurred?
Because reality matters. Maybe Rashard should take a stroll through St. Paul's and ask the same question, "how can people hate a man they've never heard speak".
He did speak and 19 men listened, then went and murdered nearly 3000 innocents.
That's how you can hate a man you've never heard speak.
    Fuck Rashard Mendenhall.

Nice. Makes you think management might actually be teeing up a nice WR signing.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    No love for James Jones.

I'd prefer Sid 'Dirty' Rice to Jones, but Jones can play in the cold. Maybe we could get both.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I think they freed up an additional 8 million by restructuring Peppers' contract. I would love to see both of those dudes in the ultimate fuck you to the NFC North. It would take time for those guys to learn the system though so i can't see that happening this year.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

I'm worried more and more about martz. That dude better straighten the fuck up and fly right this year man.

    - Todd fucking collins
    - Peppe le pew
    - Constant unballanced 7-step-drop attack
    - This new 6th rd QB project/waste of a pick

All that shit better come right this year man. Starting to think the dude is just an egomaniacle asshole.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Angelo made the decision on Starks but i see where you are going. Martz will call balanced games this year at the very least because he likes being told he adapted to what he had and was a reason why the Bears were successful despite lack of o line talent. he is not that obtuse where he can't see the benefits of the run game, the pass game to Forte, the screen game, the shorter routes, moving the pocket, rolling out etc, etc ,etc.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

He's definitely that...I'm just not sure yet about the O-coordinator part.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

If you're going to get irritated by everyone out there "rewriting history", it's quite possible that you will see an early demise from an overstressed life.

In the category of people to NOT give a shit about is Rashtard Mendenhall

  • In reply to Mastodon:

You are correct on the second point.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Flag on the play, illegal Duke-bowl

  • In reply to gpldan:

Any shot the Bears will bid in the Asomugha sweepstakes? What a big step up from Tim Jennings he would be.

Cincy paper headline "Bengals forced to re-sign Benson". CedBen, making friends wherever he goes, what a popular player.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    asshole

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Me, or CedBen?

I think the answer to both questions is "I know."

  • In reply to gpldan:

    ced.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    not mutually exclusive lol

Ced apparently isn't the only ex-bears hb who is a dick. Thomas Jones apparently is a jerk too according to the grapevine.

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

I'll take a bag of dicks that run over people. So to speak.

  • In reply to gpldan:

NOT gonna happen, Asomugha a bear, he's prob gonna be more expensive than Peppers. Although we might see him twice a year - on the Lions.

Yup. as if their Dline wasn't "nasty" enough, they neglected both their oline and esp their DBs, and many are speculating that they're willing to pay a king's ransom for Asomugha.

Needless to say, I hope the Lions can't afford the ebay bid.

  • In reply to gpldan:

The Peppers cash was freed up by losing the draft picks for Cutler, I don't think a huge signing is in their budget, unless ... where's the super bowl this year?

  • In reply to gpldan:

    Good lord.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

I too like Herzlich. I brought him up a few threads ago, and def wouldn't mind giving him a shot.

Toliver seems to have the size and decent speed, I'm just wondering how much difference an undrafted WR would make. Can't be better than Aromashodu, and look how we treated him.

I'm afraid to say that in order to really get a weapon for Cutler, we'll have to pay or take a chance (Steve Smith, Mike Simms Walker, Plexico Burress, etc)

There's always Aromashadu, he's still a FA lol

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

Speaking of FAs, damn, too bad these guys are probably gonna get resigned by the Falcons (Oh, btw, they were both originally undrafted. Hear that, Jerry?)

"The Atlanta Falcons could be in trouble in 2011 with the prospects of losing the right side of their offensive line. Harvey Dahl, like Clabo, went undrafted. After barely playing for the San Francisco 49ers in 2006, he joined the Falcons in 2007 and earned a starting job the next year.

Dahl is known as maybe the meanest and nastiest offensive lineman in the NFL. He got in a shouting match with 49ers ex-head coach Mike Singletary in 2009. The Hall of Famer purportedly became so enraged that he spit on Dahl.

He is a restricted free agent and it is rumored the Falcons are intent on keeping both him and Clabo. If they cannot, there are always several teams looking for a guy who brings character to the locker room"

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

I hope he knocked Singledummy the fuck out.

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

I'll cough up a nut if we let Shabba go.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

He's an UFA as soon as free agency resumes.
    HE GONE!

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Anyone not think it strange that there wasn't one photo or scrap of evidence offered up on a deal this big? Bin Laden, not Paea.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

gotta tread carefully. they have the fucking attack on video for gods sake. just because the american defense dept doesn't feel the need to show you yet doesn't mean it didn't happen. Ask Bin laden's wife (the one that didn't get blown to smithereens) if he died. She already admitted it. Also, when al qaeda and the taliban both swear revenge instead of claiming it didn't happen it probably happened.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

I think you can rest assured the DOD is going frame by frame looking for anything pixel-sized or bigger that would negatively impact the security of the operators on this mission or future missions. You'll see the photos when that's done.

Unfortunately, there is a sizable minority with whom he will always have credibility. From skin color, if nothing else.

And no, I'm not talking necessarily about other blacks or "people of color" or whatever. There are plenty of liberal whites so concerned about showing how color blind they are that Obama could never conceivably do wrong.

Such a pathetic and sad bastardization of what Martin Luther King was talking about... you know, that content of character thing

Maybe it's not Barry's fault and his handlers did it. Or, perhaps he studied this stuff and was instrumental in its adoption, much as Hitler studied oratory and hand gestures.

Eleven-year-old Asra Amjad revealed that she saw Nadeem, the driver of the red minivan, collecting grass and asked him what it was for.

He told her that he kept rabbits in the compound and she asked if she could have one. A few days later the driver came to the family house with two rabbits for Asra and her family."

I'll bet it was Christmas time too [sniff!] ....

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I'm surprised there wasn't an avalanche of people's picks in to the blog. I imagine everybody's selections would have been better than the official ones. Hands on their heart, would anyone have seen this guy go in the third and would you have drafted him? Would everybody have gone Paea? Really? Because of bench pressing?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

He was a consensus late first round, early second round pick. If not for the Senior Bowl injury, I guarantee you he would've gone in the first round.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

I'm in on the shirt! Great job el Jefe! Half a tribesman here! (wrong half but I still claim it).

If you guys want to read a tremendous book, I highly recommend Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 by Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell, a Texas badass of the highest caliber. He talks about what he had to go through to become a Seal, itself fascinating, and then what he went through in Afghanistan. You will not believe what these guys are made of.

    Bravo Seal Team 6!!!

    Shirt purchase to follow!

  • In reply to PhilfromSATX:

I enjoyed it, but he gets really political in parts. That said, he's more than welcome to his opinions after the service he's done. What a story.

  • In reply to PhilfromSATX:

I'll roll with 'Blackfoot is missing' by William F. Owen, about the SOG recon teams that went over the fence into Laos and Cambodia. Cracking stuff.

No Shia LaBuff swag for you, then.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Bay would have Shia playing some young Seal Team recruit with an attitude and possibly Megan Fox as the ultra sexy daughter of an NSA analyst sent in with the team to help gather intelligence due to a mission snafu right before departure. Add some awkwardly timed and highly predictable American humor and a budget of 175mil and you've got a film. who needs a script when you have 175mil. apparently not Bay and Bruckheimer.

PS - Jamie Fox and the kid from Superbad would be in it too.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Obama is a tough SOB. Had all those Blackhawks gone Blackhawk Down pt.2, Obama would have been Jimmy Carter Iran rescue part 2, and Romney would start looking like Reagan.

Lesser men would have sent a Tomahawk calling card, so I applaud the stones to greenlight the thing and do a face to face takedown. Literally, there is an operator in a bar in Diego Garcia being bought rounds for shooting Bin Laden in the face. Talk about heading to Disneyland, damn.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Bars around Coronado and the Strand may be able to compete in terms of overall high spirits today with Diego Garcia.

  • In reply to gwill:

I should drive down there with a big bag of high-fives and buy some fucking heros some drinks.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

ST6 is based out of Virginia Beach. There will be some celebrating in the Old Dominion this week.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

^^ this, my bad, didn't mean to focus on the left coast teams only. VA/d neck/little creek all should be celebrating.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

I read that they were trained in SD.

  • In reply to zmac:

I think most of them do; Viva will know.
If I read correctly, technically the name for the SEAL team that performed the mission is classified at the moment, as opposed to ST6 or DEVGRU.
Whoever they are, you don't want them dropping in on your roof at 1am.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    it's devgru, short for:

dudes that can do stuff that normal humans can only do in video games.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

SOCOM is probably my favorite shooter on the PS2. Nice and safe.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Obama showed some serious balls. That was fucking presidential...as was the speech in the East Wing.

Best special forces in the world. Looks like JSOC is going to get a little funding bump. Imagine if JSOC is allowed to grow and develop. Real boots on the ground intelligence as well as satellites, drones, cutting edge technology etc combined with literally the best operators in the world. Bump their pay and watch guys stay in forever instead of heading for Blackwater or Qi or whatever it is called.

Ummm....next head of Al Qaeda please step to the front and take your rightful place as the next dude to get got. Being the next head of Al Qaeda is like being drafted to the Carolina Panthers.

this was on the other night. The G-36 may be effective at convincing intruders to pass on your house and family and try somewhere else.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

bad ass man. Don't think any of those are civilian-available man.

I need something the layman can shoot at an intruder. I figure we have an alarm and a door chime, so by the time the fucker gets even close to any bedrooms, I'm aleady armed and in position. I go over this shit in my head all the time. I even go over the plan with the wife. Maybe I'm just watching way too much "I'm Alive" on Bio Johnny.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

i lost my firearm ID card so i have to wait about 5 months but I'm just going simple. Glock 9mm and the slimline for the lady and a good old fashioned Mossberg in case i don't want to aim and just want to blast like Nic Cage.

chi town mang. it's a good neighborhood but the areas around it are a bit shady.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

My wife watches that show and it spooks the fuck out of me. I'm not so scared of the psycho bastards - it's the crap where your fishing boat gets flipped by a rogue wave, the captains leg gets eaten by a rabid porpoise, and your emergency beacon was left on the dock...those are the ones that freak me out.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Last year my friend Sarah lost her brother and cousin in some weird fishing accident on Castle Rock Lake in WI in mid-April. It's a huge lake, and someone found the boat spinning in circles with no passengers. They didn't find the second body for 2 weeks. They probably hit a bad wave or a log and got thrown from the boat and had instant hypothermia.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

    Jesus, that's horrible.

    Get this:

So when the time comes and you follow the best advise I could ever give you (see in the dark) you can marry the technology.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

That Sig Sauer just above it looks like just the job MB.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The round takes at least 15 yards to arm itself. If you shoot it inside you would get a big thud but no boom.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Bear Jew is funny and all, and I haven't even seen IB all the way through.

But I would like to vote to table both the Hendrix and Bear Jew shirts or supplement them with a Duerson shirt. His autopsy came back, and yes - he had brain trauma/CTE:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/03/sports/football/03duerson.html

Something classy, I will grab GIMP and try and work something up.

Jew Bear works better. Who's Catholic Bear? Is there a Buddha Bear?

  • In reply to gpldan:

yeah, they were gonna reign down fire on that compound like Sodom and Gomorrah, but luckily this president isn't an idiot, and he wanted a confirmed kill to preemptively disarm any conspiracy theorist. There's pics somewhere too, which may eventually leak out.

Don't know why, but an up-close and personal execution gives me more closure than a video-game like bombing. Maybe it's because I can vicariously imagine the look on Bin Laden's face hiding behind a woman as 29 bad ass motherfuckers are pointing their death-canons at him.

Jeff - i clicked on the payment button and didn't get a confirmation. I clicked it again and still no confirmation. Is there any way to confirm that my order went through and if it went through multiple times to refund the extra payments?

Also, we should create some Maui 88 type Bears jerseys

  • In reply to hollywood1:

I'm working on this. Thanks to all who've ordered.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Hey, how does one purchase a DBB shirt anyhow? Paypal or something?

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

I am just an unfrozer caveman lawyer. Your internets and electronic forms of payment mystify me.

  • In reply to Jlehr:

Ha ha. Never mind. I just had my blonde moment. I didn't see the little pay widget I was so mesmerized by the Bear-Jew.

Speaking of blonds, what does a blond consider safe sex to be?

    A. Having sex with the parking brake on.

I'm kinda curious how those other shirts look though, the blind squirrel one and the peppers experience.

  • In reply to Jlehr:

    Classic.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Jeff thanks you for paying twice Waffle!

  • In reply to JeffHughes:

How long will it take to get them shipped? I might have to wait a little bit.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I read a great article way back when (2003?)that interviewed a CIA guy who had Bin Laden tracked down to the gorges and ravines in the mountains north of Pakistan. He called it in and requested 150 Delta force on the ground to do the job as they estimated hundreds of guards. They wouldn't risk an incident on Pakistani soil and he got away.

Didn't Clinton order 32 Tomahawks to take out Hussein the day he let the Lewinski story break?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Yeah, it had nothing to do with these:
