Fantasy Playoffs Standings - Updated!

A couple notes on this week's action.  Basically, if you played Aaron Rodgers (32 points) or Jay Cutler (27 points), you advanced (with one exception, keep reading).   If you played Matt Ryan (-3 points), you had no shot.  There were very few other players this weekend who put up mega numbers.  Since the 12th place individual was The Big Cheesy and there's no way a Packers fan is writing a word on this site ever, I decided only to advance the top eleven.

  • Green Bay will not make a first down if we control the ball.

  • Our SECONDary needs to be rock solid and make big plays. Other than that, we have these guy's number.

  • Fres, we beat em with 77 yds rushing/221 yds passing the first time around and we lost to them with 110 yds on the ground and 117yds in the air the 2nd game. It seems to me that we lost the last go around because we were unable to establish anything in the air and the packers gave us the running game in order to take away the passing game. Hence, the Bears cannot allow the Cheese to make them one dimensional and expect to win against a team with such a strong passing game.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Martz went vanilla. I really think they intended to sit the starters in the 2nd half but kept them in because the game was so close. If we start off running the ball like we did in GB there's no way in hell Martz give up on it.

  • In reply to jdawg:

True enough but I personally think that's why teams are able to somewhat run on them. They try to take away the pass first.

  • In reply to jdawg:

Here is my (no receiver) deal. I chose Woodhead. Even if he counts, 40some rush yards and 40some receive yards and a fumble would be about -3 points. Still ties me with MBP and puts me in the top 11.
I thought woodhead was listed as a receiver. Used him a big chunk of this year in my ESPN fantasy league just for the fact that he is a WR that gets a bunch of touches because he lines up in the backfield often.
Honestly, I wasn't trying to pull a fast one.
I guess the point is moot though. ~thanks for not disqualifying me~

  • In reply to Church:

Nah, I didn't disqualify you. I just ignored him.

  • In reply to jdawg:

    3 points. 3. wow.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

I was going to ask about that.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Bears are 48-0 when they rush the ball over 40 times a game.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Rodgers can march up and down the field with those receivers, no way we can afford to sit back and score a TD every 8 minutes by trying to run it all day - too easy to stop if we're one dimensional anyway. This is not the Seahawks defense we're playing. We put up 3 points against GB. Our receivers need to get their thumbs out of their asses, period. I'd love to see double TE sets all day long, and I don't mean Manu-wasteomoney.

  • Jeff, just for giggles, would you tell me what I would have scored with my picks.

    I had Cutler, Forte, Knox.

  • I would like to see Us play more man press coverage vs the Cheese.

  • Ha, Irish made us all look silly. Well done sir.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Wasn't feeling so pretty when we were up 24-0 and a shutout was in the air. I enjoyed the game in both halves for different reasons :o)

  • Is anybody having a big party? I mean, this is pretty much a once in a lifetime game, I wondered if anyone was organizing something with riding mowers, squirrel beer and four loko and Bears Chick lingerie calendar giveaways during the commercial breaks and the sort...

  • In reply to gpldan:

No, but the idea of Waffle and Fresno running it together is somehow terrifying yet appealing.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Ill be at a titty bar with some buddies of mine. Bears game and ass all around.

  • In reply to Grizzly559:

Who's got the biggest house? You could have a titty bar area, a crack den, the Hefner 'grotto' (throw some blankets over the jacuzzi), a tea room, a grunts bar, a confessional area. Invite Frozen Turd and Cheesy and then show them the Pulp Fiction basement. "Bring out the Fres ...."

I could supply the plastic explosive.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Weather forecast for the game is mostly cloudy, 21 degree's for the high. Brrrr. Chilly.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Roeper points out that Packers are still douchebag redneck simpletons, no matter how their team fares:

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

I'm on my death bed right now so i will keep this short and sweet. This is our destiny. Ever since training camp i've been saying this. The reporters and pundits had it right, just one year early. The Bears will go to the Super Bowl. Every reason they had us going in 09 are the reasons we are going in 2010. Then you add in Peppers. Destiny.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Do we have the biggest advantage going into this game?

  • In reply to Grizzly559:

    The biggest?

  • In reply to gpldan:

Shit, I mean Like do we have More advantages?

  • In reply to Grizzly559:

    here's the advantage Fres:

    1. our field sucks which hurts a precision passing game like Green Bay. we are used to playing on that shit pile but other teams aren't. Green bay just got done playing in the optimal environment and will now play in the worst possible environment.
    2. The Bears have realized that you can play physical on opposing receivers and it fucks up the other teams timing even just a little bit. we will do that again.
    3. If T.Harris can bring that kind of effort again and Pep can blow his dude up consistently like against seattle then the pressure on rodgers will help disrupt flow. as long as we don't miss 85 percent of our sack opportunities like atlanta did we'll be fine.
    4. If we run the ball we win the game. 3rd and 5 or less means no stupid 7 step drops needed against a prolific pass rushing team like GB.
    6. Forte and Taylor are sick when it comes to catching out of the backfield and no one can match up with Olsen so look for the Bears to work on hot reads in situation where they know Woodson will be coming.
    7. Hester is a dangerous returner on our shitty field because he knows where he is going and the coverage doesn't. Look for a TD return.
    8. GB running attack sucks. DOn't let one game by a 6th round pick fool you. GB doesn't have a running game. They don't really need one though.
    9. the crowd was fucking insane on sunday and look for that to be the case again.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    Advantages? Just one. Discipline.

Their Punter pretty much takes Hester out of the game. And can anyone come up with reasons why we would score more than 3 points like last time? I know we will, but what's changed? It was only a few weeks ago. Unless, the coaches were holding something back ... which I struggle with. If they just beat GB's ass, then they're not in the playoffs - so I guess we were playing to win, and we scored three points. I'd like to see a lot more screens, and a lot more people getting kneed in the head and a lot more people getting Carlson-ed.

    But advantages?

    O-line. Same.
D-line. Same, maybe slight advantage ti us.
LBs. Adv. us but their 3-4 presents us blitzing pickup problems.
    Secondary : Adv. GB
    Receivers : Adv. GB
    Running : Adv. Chi.
ST: Them in coverage, us in returning.
    QB : Same.

I don't see a clear advantage, this is just a balls to the wall dirty low-down scrap and who wants it more, who makes the fewest mistakes. With so many players on IR it's got to come down to discipline with the Packers. It's the NFC champs, the stakes are never higher, who's more professional, who's been there and done that ... I can't believe we could give it up to a bunch of second stringers.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Mostly agree, but I got to give the nod to Rodgers on QB play over Cutler, much as that pains me. Rodgers is quicker in and out of the pocket, just as accurate, and doesn't make as many forced plays.

  • In reply to Grizzly559:

I can't read anymore of the sports pages in the paper or the main networks, they must have lost their asses on betting on the Pats to win cause everyone is crying in their fucking beer's about it. Pathetic. Just get over it..the "Golden Haired Child" and his followers BLEW IT!!!!!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

Well, jeez, I am so out of that contest!!! Glad you cut the Cheesehead, Jeff.

I've been too busy to read anything, so all I can say is:

Damn. I am happy to be a Bears fan today.

  • In reply to sjvl:

Yeah. it would have been funnier if he'd made the cut, and then got tossed out.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    That is exactly what happened.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    Haters gonna hate, Jefe............

You better pray for miracles this weekend. The Bears are overmatched.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Do I get any bonus points for having picked all 4 games correctly? ;)

  • In reply to sjvl:

    3 points!!! Awesome!!!!

    GO BEARS!

  • In reply to gpldan:

I'll be in Section 438 row 18 with the wife. I plan on leaving with a big smile on my face for the long ride home. I pre-bought the tickets off stubhub 2 weeks ago when they were reasonable. The same section and around the same row are now going for $675.00 to $900.00. Yeah that's pricy!!!

However, that being said, I was at the NFC Championship vs. the Saints in 2006-07 and I paid 750.00 per ticket for section 336. That game was one of the best I have ever attended. I am hoping the Bears will once again deliver this coming Sunday.

  • In reply to Reichwolff:

    NICE.

  • In reply to Reichwolff:

    Congrats!

  • In reply to Reichwolff:

    Al -

I spent the weekend in Tuscon. What a great city, and the weather was amazing. Do you hang out at the Chicago Bar off Tangerine Ave.?

  • In reply to Reichwolff:

you must have season tickets....helluva investment man

  • In reply to FQD1911:

I'm sure they are someone's season tickets...if I could get season tickets (I'm on the waiting list) I would probably go to 3 games a year and sell the rest on stubhub...But get them is a bunch of cash no doubt.

  • $$$

  • In reply to gpldan:

Come Sunday I'll be sitting in some bar in Honolulu, watching the game, and lookin at hotties during commercials and half time. So heres the deal. I am going to try and score some tickets on the ticketmaster sale tomorrow. If I should be lucky and get tickets, I will offer them to my fellow bloggers for the best offer from the regular guys, but you have to attend the game. No buying them from me to resell for higher $. I was lucky enough to get World Series tickets for the White Sox. I'm feelin that same luck for tomorrow.

  • In reply to iamndmurff:
