New Jersey Jets at Bears Game Thread

I'll be providing running commentary on the Bears game and the rest of the NFL as the day progresses, including the huge Giants v. Packers matchup and tonight's Eagles v. Vikings game. This will enable me to avoid going MIA on game days.  So if you're interested in my thoughts, consult the Twitter widget below.

  • This is the FIRST step in securing home field for the playoffs.

  • SECOND time using twitter huh jeff.

    J-E-T-S.... D-E-A-D!!!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

MB30SD, these Jersey Jets came to play. We are in major trouble. I knew we were over rated. Can we come back from 21 points unanswered.

  • In reply to daklan:

    Shoo, pest!

  • In reply to daklan:

Clearly, at least against losers like the Jets

  • In reply to daklan:

Hahahahahhaha... um, yeah turd. I do.

Now crawl back to your cheesy, fat, ugly, classless jersey showah whowah.

    Eat a dick jack ass.

  • In reply to daklan:

I hope Peter King picks the Packers next week, I really really do.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    He will GP. He will.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Which will he pcik first;

    The Packers or his nose?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

It's comical how much the pundits are in denial. Tobi, that yahoo article was some serious sewage-colored glasses...

Any of you see that tool Boomer Esiason after the game could only say "But the Jets outgained the Bears [mumble mumble]... They got almost 400 yards of offense" as if he couldn't comprehend how the Jets could have lost. Nevermind that it was only 393 to 322 -- a 71 yard difference, or less than Hester's return yardage (78 yards). Nevermind that the Bears actually averaged more yards per play (6.0 vs 5.8), per pass (7.5 to 7.1), and per run (4.4 vs 4.1). Sorry Boomer, you just can't handle the truth...

  • In reply to 750mL:

The Bear rReturn game gave them a short field on numerous occassions. Sorry Boomer, you can't can 80 yards on a drive if you start on the oppponent's 45.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

That observation would have required them to actually watch the game. Is it too late for Boomer to start using his big-boy name?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Bingo Al. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the Jets D got just as (actually more) cut up as the Bears D but for less yards when 4 scoring drives started in Jets territory.

+1 MBHP... I really hate how these "experts" watch only highlights and spin their post-hoc explanations for games based on their own pre-conceived notions of what's what. It's why they still have to squeeze in a "Jay being Jay" comment anytime he throws a pick (even in a game where he throws 3 TDs and runs another in)... yet I bet hardly a fuss will be made over Eli's 24 (and counting) INT season, even after another 4 pick day.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I submit the following hypothesis for the blog:

If the Bear offensive line could protect every week like they did today, Cutler would be closing in on FORTY TD passes.

ALL THREE of his TD passes today were INTO the wind.

Still, the pick six was awful as was not throwing it away and getting sacked at the 6 which setup another Jets TD.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Yeah, I don't get why he doesn't throw away more often when flushed out of the tackle box. I know sometimes there's too much traffic and it'd be dangerous... but I feel like he almost never tries.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

His third, I believe to Knox, was 60+ yards into the wind. Awesome. Elway-ish. His accuracy is off on anything less than a laser, but it's some arm, no doubt.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Jean-Paul Sartre now a Bears fan.

Two words for that moron on Sunday Night Football - not Patrick or Dunghy - that other guy.

Shut up - Bears have won two of last three and you said they'd lose all three - a pundits death to you as you're hoisted on your own mustard.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I don't remember the other guys name - like the three tenors - he's just the other guy and he said the Bears would lose all three of their final games. What a jerk.

Jack Lacan predicted in the third and first person that the Bears would win all three. Look back in blog-give as in archive. So far I'm two for three and will be making picks next season with the blog cabal that wished each other happy holidays.

Albert IF the Bears defeat the Patriots in the Super Bowl I think you can rest your hypothesis.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

"I'll be providing running commentary on the Bears game and the rest of the NFL as the day progresses.."

No offense, Blogfather, but I preferred the "Running Commentary"
that was provided by Matt Forte during the game.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Hey, Bertha - your shit heap of a team did a great job today...of SHITTING THE BED, YOU FUCKING TROLL.
    See ya, asshat.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

And Happy Holidays, by the way...

  • In reply to gpldan:

I saw some footage of Singletary losing it against his QB today. What a sad sight to see. Anyone that takes a shot on hiring him after he gets canned will be taking a huge risk. That dude isn't right in the head and someone will clean his clock if he doesn't seek help. Just sayin.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

His penchant for walking out on the field while the ball is in play makes me think he's not all there. As does Buddy Ryan's nickname for him. There's a lot of repression in Samurai.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Urlacher right there, but can't shed the lineman. It looked like they were glued together. It's the one major flaw in his game.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Nice job of blowing a 10point lead Bears. If Culter/Martz doesn't calm down, and if we don't get any pressure on Sanchez, we better pray Eagles and Giants lose.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The 2009/2010 Chicago Bears are back 100% today! Come on guys! Is Mark Sanchez!! Come on!

  • GP what did santa bring you?

Everyone sleds... what was your best gift this year (and yes we know family, health, love etc... is always first)

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I was Santa this year. Need to lose a bit of the belly I developed; I'm such a method actor.

I gave out iPads, Playstation Move to the kids, played Angry Birds HD after everyone fell asleep wee into the night and watched the snow fall. It was a nice white Christmas in the windy city.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I like it GP, "No, what it is, I gained it for a role."

Damn, I'm getting old, I have never heard of the Playstation Move. My old PS2 is still going. Madden 08 is still in there. Memory card is dead. It's a lot like me. My mother mailed me to tell me she'd lost the christmas pudding back home. She found it today in the press under the kitchen sink. And so it goes ...

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I was a giver not a getter this year, MB. Such is life as the male provider. I'll go with my Bears' gift of a berth in the playoffs.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Ok.. Somehow..someway.. I am missing this game. The girlfriends family celebrates xmas today. Not on the 25 but today.

Thus, I will miss this game because where her parents/family lives is no where and they have no tv, internet, or any other ideal way to listen or watch the game.

This is the same girl( that made my costume, bought the 600 dollars bear tickets , and made me the sign that got me on tv)so, I kinda owe her a big favor.

IF they don't win today it will because I don't have my chicago bear's shirt and pants on and that superman will not be watching the game.

Let's go bears and I expect some funny commments when my ass gets internet again.

P.S. (No, not my roommate Irish)

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

It sucks you can't see the game but I'm glad you have enough sense to realize all the things she's done for you. Good Stuff! Happy Holidays Young Man of Steel.

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

Dude, really? Somethin' must be worthwhile in poon town. Shoulda told her that you can't travel on the Sabbath (punishable by death according to the old testament). If you're Jewish or Islamic then you'd be shit out of luck right there.

Anyway, you won't miss much. Brunell will be in by half-time and this game is just about pumping up our mediocre receiving stats and getting a look at some backups.

  • else.... interesting typo.

  • BEARS/PACKERS tickets in the stocking!!!

  • In reply to bearsinwi:

Wow. Santa either thinks you are very very good, or wants you dead. Be careful up there wearing the Navy and Orange, those hicks carry shivs. Move in groups.

  • In reply to gpldan:

haha! ok so does that mean I shouldn't sing Bear Down at the top of my lungs the entire way into the stadium?

  • In reply to bearsinwi:

    Do it!!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

Looks like our day today. The shutout beckons!

And remember ... it comes pre-guaranteed an pre-won.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Throw it away Jay, you were outside the box. Throw that mutha out of bounds

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

So why does Jay not throw that f'in ball away?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    Intercept. Intercept. Intercept.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

WOW!!!! 21 un-answered points so far...........

  • In reply to bearsinwi:

I will be baptizing my new Walter Payton jersey today. I hope we win so my jersey will not be tainted. GO BEARS!

  • In reply to bearsinwi:

I will be baptizing my new Walter Payton jersey today. GO BEARS!

  • In reply to Grizzly559:

Man. When I ordered my first Authentic #34 jersey I ordered size XL - thought I'd better leave room for y'know, expansion. Thing arrived and it was like a tent. ordered another one that I could actually wear, Size L this time. Same thing. There must be some very big dudes over there. I swear I'll have to order a kids jersey so I won't look like a 13 year old gangster.

74 minutes until Sanchize gets his noggin bounced off frozen turf ...

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

And may the Gods of cigarette-burns-on-newly-acquired-much-valued-threads smile on you today Brother Fres. Be extra careful with the chiba so close to the most sacred of all garments. No curries. No glasses of wine. Safe wearing.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

yea bro I know. Its the White away Jerseys. I dont even want to wear it. I got a Size Large and it fits good. I got big shoulders(stocky dude) and its fits cool. The jersey feels like a sweater though.

  • In reply to Grizzly559:

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Our league has a midseason draft where we can replace up to two players which is why we have TEAM QBs and Kickers. I picked up Maclin and Tolbert at mid-season. Now I'm limping to the finish line with Andre Johnson, Antonio Gates, Ochocinco all gimpy and T.O. on I.R.

  • In reply to bearsinwi:

  • Damn! I was hoping for my first first! But got carried away watching Face the Nation/Meet the Press. That's what I get for paying attention to something other than football.

I'll settle for first place in the division.

    Go Bears!

    (Go Pack and Queens? ugh...)

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

    http://www.betvega.com/super-bowl-odds/

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Please explain to me why you would rather the Peckers win today than the Giants....

I am SO rooting for the Giants. Eli is a mess. I would much rather face them in the playoffs than the Fudge.

    Explain it to me.

  • In reply to sjvl:

To clinch homefield advantage, we need the two seed. To clinch the two seed, we need the NFC East to be a mess...etc, etc...

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Yup. Giants own the tiebreaker on us, and if they end up with a better record than the Eagles...blah blah blah go to beginning of thread.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    Justin Tuck
    Barry Cofield
    Chris Canty
    Jason Pierre Paul

... we don't want to see those dudes again. 17 hits on Cutler in one game, how he survived that I don't know.

  • bring a little radio w headphones, sneak it into the restroom, and have a sudden case of the "runs" which would explain your inordinate amount of time spent in said bathroom. Oh, and massive explosive diarrhea would also help to explain ur whooping and yelling in there.

  • Rub it in Doc. I wish I'd kept my lungs for the second half of my life.

  • In case ur wondering who to pull for today, here's the lowdown from the Official Bears homepage:

"To land the No. 2 seed, the Bears must finish ahead of the NFC East champion, which means that fans of the Monsters of the Midway will be cheering for two long-time rivals on Sunday.

It may seem sacrilegious to root for the Packers and Vikings. But that

  • A Louis Prima reference? Outstanding!

  • I knew it was too good to be true.

  • Both teams will play tough defense and try to establish the run game, but in the end the game will come down to quarterbacking. I hope Jay brings his "A" game because he's gonna need it.

  • thanks brother

  • Philly game canceled, playing tuesday.

  • Ouch.

  • I like the initial intensity that I'm seeing. One worry down (our recent slow starts) - check.

Keep stuffing the run, try not to make the 8th man in the box too obvious.

    Go Bears!

  • Thanks Doc, finding pics of an atrociously obese Rex Ryan was pretty easy.

  • he's made some decent blocks this year.

  • When did Sanchez get so good?

  • In reply to tobijohn:

When there is no pass rush. Like Brady,

  • In reply to tobijohn:

...and you wanted the Packers to win. I half-heartedly agreed, but that was a mistake. Fuck Green Bay. I hate them. sorry.

  • In reply to sjvl:

I don't think ANY of us wanted the Packers to win. We just needed them to win cuz that improves our team's chances in the playoffs. I too hate the Packers, and I did not so much root for them as hope they helped the Bears. And yes, it did make me gag a bit.

  • In reply to mikev:

I never understood the whole 'who should we root for' thing. It doesn't matter 'who you root for' because it has absolutely no effect on the outcome.

I don't care what the pack do when they're not playing us. But when it's game time, it's our guys against their guys - excuses are all out the door. We roll up our sleeves, get down in the mud and play ball. The winners hold their heads up, the bitches go home crying and frustrated, saying "we shoulda coulda ..." and the bitch-ass 'writers' write "...they should coulda woulda ...". We have no control over other games and what they mean, so I don't root for anybody, que sera sera.

If you just forget about everybody else and keep beating the teams they put in front of you, eventually somebody hands you a Lombardi. That's the way I look at it.

  • spoke too soon. Jets I think already gave up on run. Bears, get ur safeties back, get pressure on qb, hold them to FGs.

  • Holding them to a FG here would be sweet. Good chance Folk would miss it.

  • The Jets made that look way too easy...

  • FUCKING BUTTER!!!!!!! cut threw like a hot knife you beyach!

  • Joe Namath lookin' good out there..wait, never mind.

  • TE Keller killing us. TEs are the achilles heel to cover 2. Common Bears! It's pretty obvious Jets aren't gona be afraid to call on Sanchez if they're down. Adjust!

  • Ah! I love it! Louis was the man ... "When you're smilin' oh when your smilin' .."

Dave had some good solo stuff going back in the day. What was that album with 'Hina' and 'Drop dead legs' called. I need those sounds back.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Mr. Prima did a lot of work with Ms. Keely Smith and is the voice of "King Louie" in Disney's JUNGLE BOOK and sings the cute song "I Wanna Be Like You".

  • Well there goes the goose egg..Sheite!

  • Look: the old D and QB are back in town! Our D makes Sanchez look like a QB for real!

  • Good point. That shit happens to me all the time in Thailand, man. I'll be tooling along and every five minutes there'll be a crew calling me over for a 7 on 7 scrimmage

  • Cutty's getting trigger happy, he'll be trying to squeeze them in all day now.

  • and the old drop TE too...

  • The O-line is buying Jay the time. He just needs to settle down a bit. Jets are playing pretty damn good pass D right now though.

  • If we have to rely on Lovie being smarter than anybody we are in deep doo.

  • In reply to mikev:

    Affirmative.

  • In reply to mikev:

Halftime adjustments for the Bears: Don't suck!

  • In reply to mikev:

    RASHIEEEED!

  • In reply to Shady:

HAHA fuck you Rex for going for it up 7 you jackass.

  • In reply to Shady:

He never touched the ball shady, the receiver just couldnt hang on. Dont give lovie any ideas, or Rash will be around another 7 years

  • In reply to mikev:

Wow, when today was the last time the Jets were 3 and out?

  • In reply to mikev:

Go scrappy!! #%$@# you Fatso foot fetish!

  • In reply to mikev:

Davis! SPteams man of the year! (besides Hester lol)

  • In reply to mikev:

Wow. Gotta give credit to Rex Ryan there - great call, bad execution, but great call. If you're gonna kick out of bounds anyhow, go for the trick play.

  • In reply to mikev:

And when since his Arena days was the last time Rashid Davis played DB?

  • In reply to mikev:

    Holt Sheit!

  • In reply to mikev:

    Holy crapola!

  • In reply to mikev:

YESSS !!! $#%@ you fatso !! Game Over.

  • In reply to mikev:

TD! Yes! that ought to calm down the blitz!

Now, we need a stop D to keep riding the momentum

  • In reply to mikev:

    that's what rex ryan GETS!!!!!!!!!

  • Simms..Nantz...bitches!!!!!!! eeeeeeggggghhhhh!

  • HOW ABOUT OFF TACKLE WITH 22!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • say pop pull head otta your ass!!!

  • Lookin better. Gotta get 7 here

  • Mark Sanchez is 10 for 11 for 126 yards, rating of 114.4
You see what I mean? ....

  • wow............. a first down......... really? FUCKING PASS HAPPY!!!! run the fucking ball!!!!!

  • Cutty score!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Now that drive was more like it. Whatever they learned from that, keep doing it...

  • Nice TD guys. Now, we gotta hold 'em, and make them kick it to Hester.

  • EB going in early???????? shit

  • Shit Earl to the locker room. Nice drive by the O

  • We need you now Shabba. The smurfs need you.

  • Not good. Bennett limping down the tunnel. We need number 80 out there today.

  • In reply to mikev:

well, there goes our only big body WR. Now it's small ball. Revis is holding on almost every play, btw.

  • In reply to mikev:

could our D stop them? They're getting chunks of 5-10yard plays. What's going on? Their oline isn't that good.

  • In reply to mikev:

wtf............making the Jets running game look pro-bowlers..

#28 & #15in the league...you'd think that we should be able to stop middle of the road RB's.....what are we #3 in the league..

  • In reply to mikev:

dodge a bullet!!!!!!!! almost a td wtf!

  • In reply to mikev:

24 points in the Second Quarter...HOLY SHIETE!!!!!!!!!!!

can we please just get in the locker ..SLAP THE SHIT OUT OF OUR TEAM!!!!

    WAKE THE F UP!!!!

  • In reply to mikev:

    Pepe..are you taking Butter Pills?

  • HEY MARTZY!!!!!! here's an idea....................................... RUN THE "F"ING BALL!!!!!!! 22

  • Aromawho? I thought he was in Martz doghouse, literally lol

  • Memo to Julius:

WAKE THE HELL UP AND GO GET SOME SANCHEZ!!!!!

  • years ago had a coach that saw that we were getting are arses kicked in weather like this...he was so pissed off that he said we did not deserve to go into the locker room to warm up... and to get our heads straight!!!...so for the whole half had us sit on the sidelines in front of our fans and he ripped each and every player..I can tell you we came back to win the game...

BEST THING FOR LDL to do start BITCH SLAPPING all the slackers!

  • Sanchez is playing well. He's looking off the safeties like Brady, and hitting the seems of the cover 2. Ofcourse, when u have all day in the pocket, you can do that. He has a sore shoulder, and he hasn't been even breathed on! Common Bears. Like other games, slow starts, complacent, let down from big win.

Hopefully they can get their shit together in the second half. Good teams finish, and we're only a touchdown behind, miraculously.

  • Bears need to hit Sanchez already.

Jay needs to stop throwing INTS.

Receivers need to get open and catch the ball.

What's the problem Bears? Get it together already!

  • WR are getting dominated. We need to find our mismatches with our TE's and RB's

  • AH doc, Rash only watched the guy drop it. You give him way too much credit.

  • In reply to iamndmurff:

Doesn't matter, sometimes defense is just being in the right place...

If Rashied wasn't there, Sanchez makes a better throw and Smith probably makes a better catch.

  • In reply to 750mL:

Belt high, right in his hands. Don't know how he makes a better throw.

  • In reply to iamndmurff:

Ah, I didn't get a good look at it, but Simms said that Sanchez made a "nervous throw" -- maybe it was rushed, before Smith turned to see it?

Anyway if it was a perfect throw, something must've been affecting Smith's concentration on the catch then? Being right at the 1st down marker with a guy right on top of you and the ball thrown behind you is a high pressure situation.... Without the guy there, chances are he makes an easy catch and turn.

  • In reply to 750mL:

Point being that 90% of defense is just being in the right position, and Rashied (and others on ST) had the awareness to get there on that trick play.

  • In reply to 750mL:

Hallelujah! Wow what a nail biter. I thought we would hold them to 9 points but I was wrong....If Gould would have made that fg I would have been correct for the bears points... Thank you Bears! Keep up the good fight and finish the race...its not over until we when in Dallas!!

  • In reply to iamndmurff:

    DEFEET!!!!!!

First round bye, boys. I am one happy Bears fan.

  • In reply to sjvl:

    Nice.

  • In reply to iamndmurff:

Our O-line blocks like probowler, Gould misses from inside the 40 snapping his 64 in a row streak, bears score 40 or more points two times in a row since 1948 (it should've been), our D allows 2 rushing touchdowns, we out rush the Jets, MAYNARD actually nets more than 20yds in the clutch, two top 5 Ds allow a shootout, Harris plays the pass well when it counts...what a sur-surreal game...but I'll take it.

P.S. Please, Irish, no more gaurantees. My heart can't take any more lol

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

Good wrap up. Once there was some pressure on Sanchez in the 2nd half, he wasn't so wonderful. Overall he had a good game. The Bears run D was good enough. They gave up about 4-5 8-12 yd runs and a couple a little longer but that was it. Bears have to generate pressure on the QB's or their pass D gets exposed.

Hester is great. Our ST's won the battle against one of the best ST's units in the NFL. Nicely done Graham, Davis, Devin, etc, and of course, Toub. Robbie missed one but it didn't cost us the game. Hopefully, that's the last miss this season.

Our OL was very good when the Jets rushed 4. Not to mention, Forte had a big day running. The OL is starting to look professional grade. Not a moment too soon.

Our adjustments were better than theirs. Hats off to the coaching staff.

We all know this O has the potential to be explosive. It looks like it is reaching its peak at the perfect time.

Cutler looks awesome when he has time. One really bad throw for the pick six and a couple of throws where you held your breath. Happy he's on our team. I think it will only get better for him.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

What;s funny is all the talk about Robbie missing one. It just goes to show how damn good he is that we talk about it like it's unusual. Oh wait, it *is* very unusual!

You are *still the man*, Mr. Gould

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

All out of guarantees 85. Next week is a grinder. No pass rush again because of the grass, and Rodgers is a lot better than Sancheezy ... prayer time.

  • In reply to 750mL:

    Damn Knox is looking good.

  • In reply to 750mL:

Damn!! What a freakin game here !!

  • In reply to 750mL:

Cutler putting up a clinic folks! How about that O-line?!!?! Bravo!

  • In reply to 750mL:

HEY FRANCHISE QB...3,000 two years in a row..first time ever for a BEAR QB!!

  • In reply to nicholsra:

FIFTY TD passes in 2 seasons. That used to be FIVE seasons worth for Bear QBs.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

NICE preparation by CBS' lead play-by play man, Jim Nance.

First, Jim, it's Robbie GOLD, not GOOld.

Second, you're surprise at seeing Devin Hester returning a kick-off is lame. Hester and Manning have been sharing kick-off return duties for WEEKS. Were you napping during last Monday's game when Devin busted that long K.O. return?

    Poor work, Nance.
    PISS poor, you Doofus

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Sorry, that's Jin NANTZ.

    You're STILL a Doofus.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Al...you sure it's not pronounced:

"Nauncy" with your arm and hand elevated level to your head and then the pinkie high in the air above the rest of the hand...and then you say "Nauncy"

  • In reply to nicholsra:

They pay that guy 7 figures to do their top stuff and he shows up today sounding like he did all of TEN MINUTES of preparation, and 5 of that being being used ordering lunch.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

FOX has moved the start time for next week from Noon to 3pm.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

    Bear fans
    are happy.

    Jet fans
    are cryin'.

    4th down call
    was crappy.

    Thank you,
    Rex Ryan.

    Burma-Shave.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Don't the Bears realize they were suppose to LOSE three of their last four?

    The "experts" said so!

Careful, don't step in the "expertise".

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

or step in the proverbial "Shit"

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    YEA BABY!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Weren't they suppose to lose ALL of them?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Bill Cowher's opinion now means exactly nothing to me.

  • In reply to 750mL:

    TD.......... FORT KNOX!!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to 750mL:

OK can the Defense please hold these guys to a field goal?

  • In reply to 750mL:

Can't wait til we start playing in domes.

  • In reply to 750mL:

Not liking the pattern of points scored on our D the last few games

  • In reply to nicholsra:

I was thinking the same thing....

  • In reply to tobijohn:

It's the ground, we'll be better on defense indoors when it counts - Georgia dome and then Dallas.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    DALLAS!!!!! Irish...DALLAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Against the Pats, Lobo. Return of the monsters.

    Yeah... yuck

  • In reply to nicholsra:

    Uh oh....

  • In reply to tobijohn:

When I saw that miss I had the same feeling I did when Chris Harris dropped that Brady pass...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    A feeling of foreboding...

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    DAMN SLANTS...on the Cover who?

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Man what a roller coaster, I'm gettin nauseous

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Woot! Woot! Let's be havin ye lad !

  • In reply to tobijohn:

I think our D line has "Butteridiz"

We look like the real thing and then you find out we are fake and more fattening...........

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    Gould's miss was just HUGE.

  • In reply to tobijohn:

D putting the shitty Sanchez at MVP today...Priceless!

  • In reply to Shady:

time to knock the bitches out permanently...

    Driver...Dead!
    Jennings....Dead!
Rodgers....Dead!...but first let's knock his arse around the field next week.hhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhheeee!maybe a concussion!!??? anyone

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Concussion, eh? Hard, frozen field ... Peppers looking to erase an ineffective game ... Woot!Woot! looking to impress ... I think that can be arranged Lobo.

  • In reply to Shady:

Awesome play to end it! That was a quintessential Tampa 2 pick right there...

I don't feel great about the defense giving up 27 points, but reflecting on it I think it was a solid effort overall. I'm just glad the offense held up their end of the bargain, even after the setback (pick 6)... and that the team maintained their composure after the poor 2nd quarter, and exploded in the 3rd!

    Let's go Bears!

  • In reply to 750mL:

Yeah, whatever that halftime stuff was, gimme more!

  • In reply to 750mL:

Ahem. Chicago 2. No biggie ...

  • In reply to Shady:

    J. Brown just said this win clinches a 1st round bye. Is that correct?

  • In reply to mikev:

I think only if the both the Giants and Eagles lose this week....

  • In reply to mikev:

    tobi is correct

  • In reply to mikev:

    win in dallas!!

  • In reply to Shady:

YEA BABY! BEARS BABY! GO BEARS!

MY WALTER PAYTON JERSEY HAS BEEN BAPTIZED AND BLESSED!

  • In reply to Grizzly559:

And returned safely back to the Bat Cave I hope, Fres.

  • In reply to Shady:

Nerve wracking game, but awesome win. 11-4, I love it!

  • In reply to Shady:

I never imagined finishing 12-4 or 11-5 Staedy improvement especially by the OL has given us a shot of shhhhhhhhh (you know what)

  • In reply to iamndmurff:

Yeah, kinda making me think Tice for MVP this year

  • In reply to Mastodon:

I'll go with the Sideline Yoda, Rod Maranelli. Worst to first, thanks Rod. And congrats to Martz for taking his head out of his ass ... and to Lovie for getting him to take out.

But f**k you Jerry Angelo. You are targeted and locked on.

  • In reply to Shady:

What a game. Time to celebrate with a TOEst!

  • In reply to Joseph:

    Joseph...next week's avatar

    Rodgers with a Dirty Sanchez?

  • In reply to Shady:

Yep - that was a thing of beauty.

  • In reply to Shady:

Yeah! That was beautiful! Best moment of the game for me ... Rex Ryan saying "F**k me!". He is the anti-Tom Landry, and remains for me ... just the fat kid that stole beer out of Hampton's car in the Bears car park. How stupid do you have to be to steal beer from Danimal?.

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    I'm starting to get excited!!!!!

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Yeah it was a great "fuck me" Said with true emotion! LMAO

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Great....... we run right up th "F"ING Middle and nothing...GO OFF TACKLE!!! now we will pass for the next three FING DOWNS

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Hester was wide open on second down.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

    Robbie Noooooooooo

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Good time to choke Gould! What is up with him this year? Let's see if our D can actually get a stop. Just go to nickle, and force them to run.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

    Cock, Robbie. Pure cock.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Fuck that... best Bears kicker ever.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Well a couple of things I from the fudgefuckers game...

    1. We should of beat the Giants..they are not that good.
    2. Troy Aikman is a Douche...maybe a couple of more hits to head would of helped...... ASS-CLOWN
    3. Not sure where Joe Buck's nose begins and Troy Aikman's Ass stops Douche #2 and an asst. ASS-CLOWN
    4. It's going to fell great when we take the two seed and FUCK UP the the Post Season for the FUDGERS.

p.s. Bitch Trolls from inbred Wisconsin stop the insanity and quit doing your sister and Mama's it's starting to show the redneck in you.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

I can't believe he's called Joe Buck - is that his real name? Joe Buck was the male prostitute in Midnight Cowboy! Who calls their son after the most famous male whore in cinema history?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    WHEW!!!! BEAR DOWN!

I said it wasn't going to be a blow out but DAMN I didn't imagine the ZERO pass rush vs. Sanchez and the Jets. The front four was about shit vs. their Oline. I was expecting a Bears win but not a nail bitter like that!

Grrrr....and the pack is killing Giants...crap crap crap.

  • In reply to Reichwolff:

the Jets' O-Line is not called the best line in the business for shits & giggles

  • In reply to FQD1911:

This is true however didn't our coaches know this before the game and set up some blitzing packages to pressure Sanchez? I didn't see much. We hurried him a few time in the last quarter here and their but our pass rush didn't seem to adjust to the circumstance. They passed all over us. We need to address this now before the play-offs. Rogers will be a great test...he's going to pass like a mad man.

  • In reply to Reichwolff:

Lovie doesn't like blitzing as the Chicago 2 breaks down when you do. See what I did there? We're not in Tampa.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

My brother in law and his cousin (packer fans) and i just got tickets to the bears/packers game coming Sunday!! Can't wait to see all the packer fans cry!!!

  • In reply to FQD1911:

This is how I wanted it. A very, very meaningful game in January against the Fudgers. Just look at it as a tuneup for the playoffs. I would love to see our Boys end Green Bays hopes next week with a dagger thrust deep into the hearts of the Fudger Faithful. What an end to a very exciting regular season that would be. This is the kind of Football Glory I've been waiting for since 1985. It's not too great a hill to climb boys, the Bears can do it.

    Go Bears.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Just because you write a column for a major sports web site doesn't mean you're not a troll at heart:

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Akfq8dW.rc70Pns86.YajMVDubYF?slug=lc-suspectbears122610&

  • In reply to tobijohn:

After reading that article I couldn't help but chuckle. The Bears continue to confound these bozo's. This guys take's a little bit of truth and spins his web of hate because he is incapable of doing anything else. What I thought was conspicuously missing from that article was the fact that the Bears just keep winning and they continue to remain in the drivers seat. I though that was what good teams were supposed to do.

  • In reply to tobijohn:

I love it. As long as the national press picks against Chicago and keeps playing that "they got lucky" card, I will continue to be amused when the boot heads right up their ass.

I am no Lovie Smith fan, but this team's talent is staying healthy and playing hard.

  • In reply to tobijohn:

BTW, that story wasn't buried on their site, either. It's their lead story as of now:

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl

  • In reply to tobijohn:

The writer's name is Les Carpenter.

WHO in the HELL is Les Carpenter?

I think they misspelled his first name, as in
"I'll have MORE Bears and LESS Carpenter, please."

Les Carpenter. You'd get better witing from Les Nessman (WKRP in Cincinnatti's winner of the BUCKEYE NEWSHAWK Award)

These are the same folks who kept beating the Charger drum right up to THIS WEEK when when they went into Cincy and and were dis-CHARGED from the playoff picture.

Is just a coincidence that The Bungles and Carson Palmer looked pretty sharp with T.O. and Ocho in street clothes?

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Hester knows he will take every kick back. He is the most dangerous returner because he believes that he is. Skill and Will is a dangerous combo.

Cutty the fucking gunslinger, not afraid to take shots at the end zone and Forte running strong. strong mang.

  • In reply to tobijohn:

Gents... missed the game like a couple of you. In-laws and responsibilities and all that. Was

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Except that we've already won the division with two weeks to go and are now playing for positioning...what the f-ck could a Packer troll possibly have to share at this point?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

The good news is that with the way Cromartie got abused on the field today, he is less likely to have allocated another game check to a baby mama.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    Ouch.

On the contrary, Lac probably wrote a few out in the locker room.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

"How to rearrange your clothing to make it look as though you've had them cleaned in the last five years."

    "How to re-use dirt."

"Excuses not to take your Mack truck cap off during your wedding ceremony."

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    "Pathetic Trolls" ?

Is that a double negative or just a case of rendundancy?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

It's like saying a "black panther" or "short midget" or "frozen tundra" for that matter Albert lol

  • In reply to tobijohn:

    Talk about tripe!

He references Sanchez' sore shoulder in spite of the fact that Sanchez stated, in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS, that somebody stretched that information waaaay out of whack.

The rest of the column is all "woulda, shoulda, coulda".
    Lamer than lame.

I'm not a Jim Rome fan by any means, but he DOES have one thing right: SCOREBOARD.

    Yo', Les (Less?).

I give you your choice of summaries to that insult to sports journalism you pecked out amidst the fog of your Bartles & Jaymes Wine Cooler induced hangover:

    B) If wishes and "buts" were candy and nuts,
what a wonderful Christmas we'd have.

    How about "Skinny Little" ?

  • In reply to Reichwolff:

  • In reply to iamndmurff:

So much for maintaining momentum. Who had that guy?

  • In reply to iamndmurff:

Was that Chris Harris lost in space again? What a game, I love it. It's great to win these ones.

  • In reply to iamndmurff:

OH come on Bears, no way Santonio Holmes is that open.

  • In reply to iamndmurff:

Jesus D. get ur head out of ur ass. Safeties on both sides playing horrible! I think Pisa's back too.

  • Damn! Let's not lose this momentum....

  • Loves watching the Big Fat Foot Fetish Freak really upset.

  • You are as right as rain, Doc.

  • No, if the giants win the next two games, and the eagles lose, and we lose against the pack, then the giants would own the same record as us (11-5), but they would also win their division, AND own the tie breaker against us, moving them to the second seed, and us down to the 3rd, without the bye.

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

What will be interesting would be if Pack win today, the Falcons win on Mon, and Eagles lose on Tues, then we would really have nothing to play for against the Pack as we would have locked the second seed.

So this would be the scenerio: play our starters and knock the Pack out of the playoffs, and allow the giant in, however, we would risk injury.

OR, rest our starters, thus allowing the Pack to win, and in the playoffs....

    That's a tough one...

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

The Bears play to win. I don't see us getting tactical and emotionally detached from victory. Losing is infectious.

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

Got it. Go Peckers. Oops, there goes dinner.

  • In reply to KissMyButkus:

Honestly the 4th down call wasn't that bad... I mean it wasn't any worse than giving Hester a returnable punt (which also netted about 0 yards). And it had a chance of succeeding.

It was a pretty well designed play, and against a ST caught sleeping (or unprepared for a QB-run shotgun style play) it probably works more often than not. Only problem? Toub's ST squad doesn't sleep... =)

  • In reply to 750mL:

...and besides, this way people have yet another excuse as to why the Bears "should have" lost this game. If only Rex didn't make that "dumb" call, if only Keller caught that TD, if only... yada yada yada.

  • In reply to 750mL:

We all felt so good after the game we went and played flag football. Great time and a great victory!

  • In reply to 750mL:

Oh and yes it is now confirmed .... The NFL commissioner is trying to make it a bitch sport. Let's call a football game on account of weather. LAME!!

  • In reply to 750mL:

Damn. The Packers are just manhandling the friggin Giants. That I did not expect.

  • In reply to mikev:

MVO...it's not that the Fudgefuckers are good...The G men are really shitting and are going to get knocked out

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Yeah, I guess you don't win too many games with 4 INTs even if your last name is Manning.

  • In reply to mikev:

    Fine by me.

  • In reply to mikev:

Well damn sure didn't figure the Pack to win. Hope that doesn't screw up us any, or are we forced to win next week

  • In reply to mikev:

02 Jan 2011. Roshlambeau. We go first!

  • In reply to 750mL:

We *could* consider a prop or two for 'sheed for making the play.

  • In reply to 750mL:

Brad Smith dropped that ball, pure and simple. Nothing to do with Rashied.

  • Agreed, the Windy City Flyer is LOCKED IN and changes games folks.

  • +1

  • Pack game tied up boys!

  • In reply to Joseph:

Like this avatar Joseph. It doesnt make me feel nasty and want to go take a shower.

  • exactly, Doc. 88mph ahead! lol

  • I was wondering why they don't START the game with Hester on KR, and I think I figured it out. Anytime we're down, and need momentum, we get an adrenaline dose of Hester to wake us the fuck up. Manning is more than good, but check out the last few games when we fall behind. Suddenly, Hester moves to KR and our team gets rejuvenated. Am I imagining this?

  • 100%, Doc

  • Olsen's block on Forte's TD was sweet to be Great end zone replay when I was watchin'

  • In reply to Mastodon:

And his tipped pass to Scrappy, was it?

  • No, Doc, there is very little I love more than Chicago and the Bears.

I DO understand, but that does NOT mean I have to like it.

ARE yOU looking forward to next Sunday? I am not.

  • In reply to sjvl:

You have to be looking forward to next week - it's f-ing Packers week?!?!?

  • Philly LOSES to DALLAS?

    IN Philadelphia?

Did you see the Cowboys-Cardinals game?

Sorry, Doc, I just can't buy that part of your scenario.

  • We have so few receivers, I don't even know if we can afford to. I wouldn't mind seeing Scrappy back in the mix. He's a pro. We should certainly give Hester a few looks at WR even if he went back full time. Players used to play both ways, he can return a few kicks and catch a few passes for 5 Mill a year.

  • And it will be a looooong game methinks.

  • Excellent professor Nitty. Can't see the Saints beating the Falcons at home though. Nobody beats the Falcons at home. except maybe us. Ha. I think we get to the NFC championship no watter who we play in those scenarios.
