first. and i may be hungover. fml.
At least it isn't Monday and your hungover. And don't look at the above pictures.
HOLY SHIT...................HESTER ON KR............LDL you took your head out of your ARSE!!!!
hooooooly shit!!!! was that the Windy City Flyer on kickoffs? i just jizzed in my pants
They must read the blog. And they should.
Certainly. Nice towels.
FQ..............Interesting 37 yard return...has he even done that yac as the so-called #1 receiver?
lol good point
links?
why is Hester playing receiver??!?!?!?!?
His contract. And Lovie's and JA's pride and ego.
That's why!
I stand corrected. He should still be on both kick and punt returns unless he is winded.
please give us this TD... our goaline record is not a good one....
soooooooo....who wants Kyle Orton? smh
Now, do not allow the Vikings to walk down the field and get points before half time
The Bears have got to hire this Mike Ferrera (sp?) guy as their challenge manager. Pay him whatever it takes.
+1
Ever since the Giants game, my in-game emotions have been dead. There is absolutely nothing they can do do raise my blood pressure again this year.
mine too. but it might have something to do with the xanax and/or coors. I've managed to reach a state of Lovie-like zen.
Now Doc on the other hand.....
Ok, so which Viking does Cutler throw it too now. He could have run the goddamned thing in too. If no ones open take the slide and the 3 points.
Forte right up the middle again. I don't get it gents... why don't they see what we see?
Scrappy Davis!!! There you go GP!
I think we've made more first downs today... than the first 8 games..
THAT IT IS BABY!!! That's what I'm fucking talking about baby!
great play action!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSS
too easy. love the play call.
BOOOM
should be at least 40-10.
just trying to keep score.
Still want to see a couple more touchdowns, want to be sure!!!!
WOW. SPECIAL TEAMS. LEGENDARY.
BEAR DOWN BABY
holyfuckingshit! Can we please god embarrass these assholes. Harvin got bent back like a reed.
this will be overturned...
agreed... but at least it looks like harvin won't be coming back this game
ALL AROUND GREAT PLAY BY OUR BEARS TODAY!
If Harvin goes down...really makes getting rid of Moss totally stupid now!!!
But who is complaining? Great move for the Vikes to get rid of Moss.
I have been tired of the turf at Soldier Field for years. Granted its the same for everyone, and our team should be used to it, but besides this most recent slip-up by Peterson, I feel the Bears fall down more than others on the grass. Why cant we change that?
Hurts the vikings way more than it does us ...
Nice challenge Brad
YESSSSS!!!!!!
why does matt forte insist on finding people to run into?
THAT is why I want chet to take ALL of those inside run calls. Not fucking rocket science.
wtf is up with all the runs... wasn't that 3rd down and long?
gotta keep the clock running...
and not score?????
take a chance on a cutler pick... Nope... Defense will hold the vikings from scoring twice... We dont need another point... Pin the vikes deep and let them burn the clock trying to score.
sorry, can't get with that defeatist way of thinking under.
can you fucking believe the Jacksonville game? 2-1 again...wow.
game over. Beautiful
Drank too many haiku.
BEARS WIN!
PLEASE, PLEASE, some how, some way, dont fire Childress.
Favre can come back too.
"31 on one carry"
20 on one carry.........
detroit just lost.... to buffalo.
I like Buffalo but their schedule from here on in is absolutely brutal. 1 and 15.
great game. night yall.
Now that team can win the Division.
BIG ASS win.........Now THAT looked like a GOOD football team.......Held Favre to under 200 yards with 3 picks........Peterson had 51 yards - 31 on one carry, the O line was very very good, And special teams with Hester were just outstanding. This one feels real good. I was waiting for this team to show. Now let's build on this...........
booyah Harris!
BEAR DOWN!!!!!
Favre has thrown almost as many INTs in this game as Cutler has thrown all season...
YESSSSSS.... That will do it...
that was damn nice run blocking btw. Hats off to the oline.
Ladies and Gentleman... Brett Farve's last game at Solider Field.
I'll believe that when I see him in a commentator's box with his cock out!
wow this game felt good.
Hahahahahaha... just after I post that, but left linemen just get blown up and put on the ground.
btw, any of you guys know what possition Kenny Albert was when he played in the NFL?
No matter. Great game all around from the O-line. They get the game ball.
Pick-6 please!
Why the fuck is the clock not running in between plays? It's not below the 2 minute warning!!! WTF
Thats the Maynard we know and love
Surprised Chilly managed to throw the flag.
BRIGGSY!!!!
THIS IS WHAT OUR FOOTBALL TEAM SHOULD LOOK LIKE. Thank you.
LANCE BRIGGS!!
didnt look too good for Harvin
"Into the mud, scum queen!"
Steve Martin
Once again horseshit play calling, ok hush my mouth...duhhhh!
I really don't want to jinx anything, but it really looks like the O-line is starting to come together.
Fucking Maynard.
is our secondary on crack today...WTF
I hate the pass interference rules in the NFL.
agreed. a 42 yard penalty? Just not right. There has to be a better way.
yaaaaaaahooooooooooo!!!!!
What a win.
Izzy was a beast again. Pep played lights-out again. The smurfs, with the exception of TJ deciding not to cover Harvin on one play, looked good.
Hell, even Pringles almost came up with a pick.
Cutler, with the exception of one really dumb decision in the red zone, played with exceptional poise. He was extremely elusive in the pocket and juked Vikings linemen out of their cleats several times.
And best of all, we stayed committed to the run game against an allegedly great run D. Maybe the Vikes trainers need to update their Starcaps prescription.
Totally agree MikeBrown (I heard you were on the sidelines!lol). I was screaming at the tv when Cutler threw that bonehead int. But like I said before, his turnovers almost always come from trying to do too much - he's like the qb version of AP.
Our entire D played lights out accept for that one pass to Harvin, which seemed more like a miscommunication between Harris and TJ.
And FINALLY, FINALLY, they move Hester to KR...as that old commercial used to sing, 'what a differenca a day makes'. Suddenly, we're begginning drives at the 40 - THEIR 40. what a coincedence, right? lol The Ghost of Hester is just as scary as Hester - it spooks the hell out of opposing coaches, and they either have to squib, like they did to Davis and we start at the 40, or they angle it and risk going out of bounds and we start at the 40, or god forbid, they actually kick it to Hester, and we start at least at the 30 or score...every scenario, we win.
"except" and "beginning" sorry, still delirious from our victory!
Yep, DH was ridiculous...I really thought he was going to set the record today.
btw...TIED FOR FIRST IN THE NFC NORTH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Correction, Lobo.,Bears beat the Packers, ergo, Bears are in first place, period.
I beg for forgiveness...was listening to the pundits and should of listened to my blog brothers
Just sayin', but, Olsen Haters, SHADDAP!
I could've sworn we are half a game up on the Fudge since we beat them...maybe I'm wrong. Either way, we got the tie-breaker - for now...
I absolutely LOVE the "Bart Starr Call" on 3rd and 1 for the clincher.
I think last time the Bears called that it was Brian Griese to Des Clark to beat the Packers.
Yep, DH was ridiculous...I really thought he was going to set the record today.
Yup, the skunk made Vikings SP teams stink. However, it looked like he hurt his shoulder a bit, but hopefully, it isn't too serious (it's a short week too). Even if he is injured, if I were the bears I wouldn't disclose it to anyone, and have him go out there on returners regardless. If Miami is smart, they'll kick it away from him anyways.
Our D is coming together. Adams and Toeina in the middle with Pep and Izzy, it's a pretty stout front 4. And man, does that make the difference. Child Support and Briggs ran free and caused problems. Briggs blitzed twice and was effective in pressure both times.
DJ Moore is heads up baller.
Our weak spot on D was really just Tim Jennings trying to hand off to Harris.
Toub again brought the ST hammer and that set up a field Cutler could work with. He looked good when running.
Farve looks like a man in trouble. He's just racking up the starts to make his record unassailable, nobody will ever touch it. That's all he's out there to do.
Ya, our front entire front 7 are MEN. Pep, Izzy, Lach, Briggs...and our secondary are opportunistic. The corners and safeties almost always seem to be in the right spot for a pick, which makes up for their smurf-ness.
Our Oline is looking like an NFL oline for once. Not dominate, not good, just decent - and really, with our SPteams and top 3 Defense, (and apparently more poised Cutler), that's really all we need to be competitive in EVERY game.
What game did you watch? Omiyale and Webb are human turnstiles and Kreutz had two really bad penalties. Cutler, poised? Same old Cutler - poor opponent ...
Our Oline allowed 1 sack, allowed Forte/Taylor to rush for a modest 100 yards. Relatively speaking (Giant's flashback) I think that's decent.
Kreutz made some idiotic penalities though, true. Cutler was pretty poised - except for that stupid int in the redzone. The other ints was Knoxs fault.
I think ur more cynical than even I am Irish lol which opponent (that isn't "poor") do we have to beat in order for you to be a bit more optimistic? Pats, Jets, and Pack again prob...It's gonna be tough, no doubt, but I'm feeling much better than I was 2wks ago.
Don't get me wrong mang, a win is a win, and beating the vikes is always good, but if we're going to win the division we'll have to beat some good teams ...
sad gray penis fails
calf roping few and far between
Cavalarri fucked like vikings
the last one is 8 syllables lol
sadly, i couldn't fit my vision into just 7
the only team on the schedule that REALLY scares me is New England. Tom Brady is out of this fucking world & Bellichek may have something in store for Martz/Cutler. should be a good1 1 nonetheless
Yeah. Was watching them give Pittsburgh a hard time and thinking the same thing. Maybe our "genius" can beat their cheater. But, like you said it's Brady that's scary.
Pats are scary but beatable. Pats of a couple years ago? yucky. Pats of 2010? yummy.
they're looking pretty good right now Johnny.
Doesn't help that the Steeler's WRs seem to be allergic to catching passes right now.
the only thing scary about Brady is how much he resembles Justin Beiber and/or a woman
Right. That and...
"He has played in four Super Bowls, winning three of them (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX). He has also won two Super Bowl MVP awards (XXXVI and XXXVIII), has been selected to five Pro Bowls (and invited to six, although he declined the 2006 invitation), and holds the NFL record for most touchdown passes in a single regular season. Brady has the sixth-highest career passer rating of all time (93.5) among quarterbacks with at least 1,500 career passing attempts. He was named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year in 2005. He also helped set the record for the longest consecutive win streak in NFL history with 21 straight wins over two seasons (2003
I am aware of his many accolades. But he hasn't won a Super Bowl in six years. He peaked in the early 2000's and is on his way to has-been town. Favre will welcome him when he gets there.
Also, he has a chip on his shoulder and a bastard child with the woman he ditched when he met Gisele.
Hmmm... I don't know if I buy into all that. Let me throw this one out for you... would you trade him for Cutler if you knew he would continue to play for another... say... 4-5 years?
btw, his numbers in just over 3 Qs against the #1 rushing and #4 total defense in the NFL tonight are:
26/32
302
2/0
nope. never would make that trade. He's too sissy-like to fit in with the Bears. Besides, with our O-line and receivers, I doubt his numbers would be that good.
Brady and Olsen's hair on the same team ? Nope.
Great win today. Best game I've seen all year, maybe in the last 3. O-line gets game ball today. On to a banged up Miami team.
Is that Chuck Norris' fist?
Dude. Seriously. The o-line? Webb and Omiyale were revolving doors. As the game wore on the Williams wall was consistently breaking through. Cutler was buying himself time all day. Gameball to a group would either be return team or linebackers.
Irish +1
I think our line is getting better than what it has been a C from an F, but the schemes of Martzy and the wheels on JC are what is keeping us alive.
From the Trib and Pompei:
"He was jacked about returning kicks
More snaps for Scrappy! He's so motherfucking hungry!
oh and one more tidbit:
Former Bear Bernard Berrian was active for the game but tweaked his groin before kickoff and was in street clothes.
hhhhhhheeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhheeeeee
with OUR oline and his immobility? That's suicide! I'd rather have the Pat's Oline lol ZERO sacks given up against the Steelers...Wow...that's impressive. And they weren't even close to sniffing Bieber's ass. Ok, I'll butt out now lol
Here we go...I guess Child Support and Briggs are on your shit list too?
Does 2007 qualify as the early 2000s?
You know, that year when he set the passing TD record?
Or 2009, when he passed for 5 touchdowns in one quarter?
I hate the Patriots, but WTF are you smoking?
What A FUC#!@%$!#%$!%#ING DRAMA QUEEN:
from PFT...
After Sunday
I HAD to repeat this to honor that "poor me" link;:
To Chicago came Narcissus.
HIS game was mostly misses.
3 picked and 1 fumbled,
in his post-game he mumbled,
about how disappointing it is.
Narcissus' Philosophy:
"An injured me is still better for the team than a healthy anybody else."
Oh, BTW, Narcissus, if you're injured then SIT YOUR SELFISH ASS DOWN otherwise, SHADDAP, already!
This team is going places.
Namely Detroit, Minnesota and Green Bay :o)
too bad the trade deadline has passed and the vikes can't trade Favre to Miami lol
I bet they'd rather have Thigpen.
Steelers embarrased at home on national TV.
Yeah, I can go for that.
I didn't play the Steelers D in FF. I had a feeling the Pats were gaining momentum and going to roll.
Bad news is, I played the Vikes D, figuring how many points sacks and INTs counted for.
To the Bears credit, the Vikes D only scored 4 FF points on them.
Fresno -
Either your a fucking genius or the luckiest man alive. I don't know which it is. Picking Mario Manningham off waivers and starting him, getting his best game of the season for 15FF. That's some shit right there.
FQD still outscored you, though.
Let's not rehash Fresn's completely out-his-ass win. It is still painful.
p.s. thank you Titans.
Injured Henne, Pennington, and for good measure Jake Long. If we take Thigpen out, Ronnie Brown will be lining up behind center against our stud run d...or maybe Jamarcus Purple Drank Russell.
Oh and Fox TV, STOP billing your afternoon game as
"America's Game of the Week".
That's ridiculous.
Especially when you consider THAT game isn't even shown in all markets AND on Sundays when you don't have a double-header some markets don't even GET an a Fox afternoon game.
"America's Game of the Week" ????
Ludicrous!
Featuring "America's team" :o)
Hey, one positive thing, GB play Atlanta in Atlanta. Matt Ryan and the Falcs are 18-1 at home under the boy wonder. Scratch that one down as a loss for the Pack at least ...
The Fudge play 3 tough games, and some easy ones.
Tough Ones: At Falcons, At Pats, and home vs Giants
Easy Ones (relatively): At Lions, At Vikings, home vs 9ers
Then, there's us at Green bay, wherever the hell we fall.
It's not totally inconceivable that the Pack will be 9-6 by the time they play us. If we beat the Fins, Lions and Queens again, and lose the rest, we'll also be 9-6, and then, it's on like Donkey Kong...
If we're both, say 10-5 going into that game, the Pack queer sludge that oozes in here will create a formidable stank that week.
I like the comment that this was Favre's "last meaningful game". How totally fitting that it comes as a loss to his long time arch rival at Soldiers Field. Now slink off into a dark corner and whimper you whiny pervert!
Well that has to be bullshit, he threw some lasers yesterday.
Cute - but that's asinine.
Brady is a first ballot HOF'er, whether you like his hair or not. The guy has more rings than 20 NFL franchises.
Exactly MBP. Thank you. I was trying to be a bit more diplomatic this time around, but my thoughts exactly.
I get trying to do the 'cute' shtick thing, but pretty silly.
I don't want to be a Brady defender, but as all the gossip rags have pointed out, Bridget Moynahan went off the pill on Brady without telling him.
He's supporting his son from her, but if I were in his place, I would have done the same thing. Even Moynahan herself pretty much admitted she did that, although her reasons for not telling him seem to vary from interview to interview.
I think his pretty hair is pretty stupid, but he's running with the Vidal Sassoon crowd now, so what Giselle wants, she gets. And it hasn't seemed to effect his play on the field, which a hell of a lot more than we can say of Broadway Joe after his Super Bowl win when he started banging Ann Margaret and wearing fur coats everywhere.
And as MB pointed out, Brady pales next to Child Support, who seems to have a thing for leaving behind people pudding in known gold diggers.
Clearly Lack hates Trojans, and not just because he played his college ball at New Mexico.
Hey now GP...we are "skin to win" here in the wild west..love going native!!!!
I still can't get over the "he hasn't won a Super Bowl in six years" comment.
And Ray Lewis sucks too. After all, he hasn't won a Super Bowl in almost ten years. He should retire.
MBP..tell us how you really feel about RL.....
I can't put the sarcasm tag on comments due to Chicagonow comment code sucking...but I think Lewis is an obvious top-5 MLB. I think Lach is better in coverage and has better lateral speed, but Lewis is probably better against the run.
I also think that Lewis would never have played again if Goodell had been Commissioner in 2000.
hey would anybody else like the throwbacks with the dark pants. Now that I thought would really look BAD-ASS!
I don't think we have ever gone all dark......Al?.... Have we?
The Bears HAVE worn "all navy", lobo and
I think that look SUCKS.
I also hate the orange tops with white Pants.
I'd like to see the orange jeseys with the navy pants.
O.K..... Al tell me how you really feel.......... Really the double darks look sucks? ...now the orange and navy pants that maybe cool.
MB, both of those teams are a handful but the stars are aligning and it seems like the coaching staff are actually gameplanning instead of just sucking wang. We are adjusting and exploiting and i believe that we can do this. The best part is that i think the Bears are starting to believe it too.
Miami-dead
Thigpen-dead...wait, who the fuck is Thigpen?
Brown-dead
Marshall-huge #1 receiver....but dead nonetheless.
Sparano-fat
Handing to Pittsburgh like that in their own house is nothing short of very impressive.
Someone give Anton Randle-El some stickum.
Alright B.C. - that is NOT Andrea Kremer - that is one of Stephen King's clowns ---
Quick - get Susan Faludi or Nora Ephron.
Lord - Is Heinz Ward auditioning for Dancing With The Stars tonight?
Any more camera time and he should be given a cable channel.
Okay - Now I understand - NBC knows this game is as boring as a C-Span Congressional vote - so they have decided to show The Heinz Ward Concussion Rehab Show.
I'm calling in sick tomorrow. Maybe I'll be sick for several days.
Bears will be 7-3 after we beat the Dauphins. Wow! Krackoom! Snikt!
Why I have no faith in LDL and his mind set...
From the DaBears Spin Site:
Lovie didn't actually mess anything up yesterday ....
Three division games on the road is pretty scary. The Jets are pretty scary. We've managed to beat one good team and their 17 penalties helped us out somewhat. Mike Vick and DS Jackson can hurt us. The Pats are definitely scary, putting up nearly 40 on the NFL's best defense. They'll hammer us for sure.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/sfl-chad-pennington-hurt-1114,0,5998593.story
Miami reached out to JaMarcus Russell tonight. Oh yeah, let the drank flow!
I hope it was just to drop a nickel into his polystyrene cup.
oh look, Waffles is back...
Wtf is up with Andrea Kremer and the Inspector Gadget hat on Sunday Night Football? Why is she the sideline reporter of choice?
BC! I've been at bw3 all day taunting vikings and packers fans who wore their jerseys into a chicago bar.
1. #1 in the division
2. Hester producing fear boners in coaching staffs throughout the league
3. Harvin leg swept like karate kid
4. Defense was stifling and held AP in check
5. Martz playcalling top notch
6. Scrappy with a nice return after they squibbed a kick while they dragged a fear boner around on the kickoff. Bears get ball at 50yd line.
7. other stuff was awesome too but i will be putting it in haiku form
1 game down and 7 to go. Get well Knoxy. Get well Hester. Get well Liver.
Jonny... I'll see your Haiku, and raise you one of Al's limericks:
There once was a man from Mississippi
Who couldn
Shit, I almost choked on my dinner laughing at that.
scuse my manners Mike... didn't know we were eating.
Oh, speaking of laughing. I'm not sure which one of you guys posted the link to the Favre/SNL Open Fly Jeans skit a while back, but I showed it to my Minnesota fan boss today and even he thought it was hilarious.
that was elegant like Chaucer
Hey, no fair spelling Limerick correctly, MB.
You inspried me:
To Chicago came Narcissus.
HIS game was mostly misses.
3 picked and 1 fumbled,
in his post-game he mumbled,
about how disappointing it is.
Even my wife said, "WHAT is with that HAT?"
Just a thought - NBC might want to move Andrea Kremer to the Beltway.
Or to something other than football... please god.
In the grand scheme of things, who gives a scheit whether the Bears win or lose. So why do I handle the upcoming week's trials and tribulations so much better than I do when they lose?
It's something we care about therefore it has value to us. When something bad happens to it (percieved or real), it's understandable that it has some effect on us.
I love the positive effect it can have but letting it effect me negatively as much as it is does sometimes is just not good.
And before we get all Cutty Sark drunk and rip neckbeard, let me just point out that it's the 2nd quarter and Orton has already thrown 3 TDs.
GP....Cutty Shark Drunk...hhhhhhheeeeeeeehhhhhheeeee....still like JC than KO
is anyone adverse to making the throwbacks our standard home uniform?
Except I want the "C" back on the helmets.
Yes to both of these.
I'd also like to see a GSH on it somewhere
Yes
Man, I can't believe I'm cheering for the Cowgirls for a second straight week, but the Giants need to fucken lose, lest they gain momentum and homefield advantage.
Where the hell were these cow-pokers last week against the fudge?! They could've at least hit Rodgers a few times...
10 Penalties - Annoying.
Another inexcuseable Red-Zone Brain Cramp - Frustrating.
Bears STILL win by 2 TDs? - Priceless.
+1
A little early but this is for thurs:
http://www.mindspill.org/853/enclosure/ambition.jpg
Today is an example of how we should be using Cutler. Allow him to roll out, don't make him do 7 step drops and block *just* well enough for him that receivers have time to come open. Gotta admit that I didn't see this one coming, but Cutler looked good today. If not for that dumb pick in the end zone, he would have looked great.
Also, I wonder if we could have won another game here or there if we'd had Hester at KR all year.
Great win, going to enjoy this one until Thursday!
That Hester question has haunted me for a long time
Dave Toub for HC!!!
Al - I'm very, very old. I just saw Colt McCoy and he looks like he's younger than my three sons and daughter. How old is he? He looks like he's fourteen.
I feel your pain, Jack. Watched USC's mark Tyler run roughshod over the U of Arizona Saturday night. He is the son of former L.A. Ram. Wendell Tyler. That's when I feel really old, seeing the sons of players I grew up watching play and remembering when I watched coaches, like DICK LEBEAU play.
Get ready for The Final Battle - Bears / Packers for the Conquerer of the Universe. The Emperor Ming is on our side!
And you are, Jack, no doubt, speaking of The Charles Middleton "Ming the Merciless" from the 3 Classic Buster Crabbe FLASH GORDON serials. And yes, I own all 3 of them.
Jean Rogers as Dale Arden. Hubba, Hubba.
Carol Hughes as a brunette Dale in the last one, not so much.
No matter what I will not write during a Bears game - "I'm hoping to watch Kaner and Taser light 'em up". Although I hope they do indeed light 'em up - alot more than recently.
+1.
MANY reguylars on this Blog had been PLEADING for Martz to make use of Cutler's mobility with rollouts and bootlegs for WEEKS before it finally started to happen.
Likewise, calls for Hester to get back to his "return roots".
Hester had field position changing punt and K.O. returns PLUS that nice catch and run for a TD on a crossing pattern.
I think 7 in the 1st half
Synergy: THREE INTs for Narcissus and THREE yards per carry for AP.
Thank you for playing, Queens. We have some lovely parting gifts for you including a lovely DVD of today's game.
Did Tommie harris play today?
Did he even dress?
recovered the Favre fumble
Still, I also like the" AA" and "The Toe" at tackle.
same here. just answering your question Al
How DARE you be informative!
Ok, couldn't resist...
1. Al, I will not back off my criticism that Olsen is not a great TE, in fact I saw him completely whiff on at least 2 key blocks today. I WILL agree that as a split out WR that only has downfield blocking responsibilities, he
I hear you bout them talking heads, MB. Even throughout the game they continually talk about what the vikes need to do to win. No love for them Bears. We're used to that approach, lets continue to fly in under the radar.
No "Hanging Chads" in Florida Thursday night.
Looks like The Fish will be led by Tyler Thigpen.
That guy HAS produced on occassion.
Orton would NOT have thrown that laser Cutler threw through tripple coverage to Olsen for a touchdown. Orton would not have been able to scramble and hit Knox on the run 20 yards down field. Orton would not have been able to back peddle, making it appear like a screen, rocket it off his back foot and hit his receiver to move the chains...
I like Orton, but noway he makes those plays.
+1.
LOL.
"Cutty" was my parents favorite scotch.
It was YEARS before I realized it WASN'T Cutty SHARK.
Sneaked a tase one time when I was a kid and thought it tasted like my old cough medicine, Elixir of Turpenhydrate.
Never DID develop a taste for scotch.
That Davis return was to the 49! I love it...
Very encouraging win today. Some things to clean up, but the Bears looked like an NFL team again :)
Great win folks! Offense converted 3rd downs, ran successfully when they needed to, showed excellent playcalling... Defense shut down 3rd downs, came up big with TOs, stuffed AP hard... Special teams were simply electric!
Hester, Cutler, Peppers, Forte, Idonije, Moore, CHarris, Briggs, Urlacher, Melton, Knox, Olsen, DA, the OL, KDavis, even RDavis all showed up with big plays. Hester and RDavis on both ST and offense even!
Definitely not a perfect game (redzone pick, broken coverage for TD, etc...), but this was a good showing and hopefully a sign of what direction this team is going.
Martz really looks like he made good use of the bye. We'll see how things continue -- we'll see if he can keep it up as opponents start adjusting again.
This win was for some of you who were doubting this team after the Buffalo game. Yea u know who the fuck you are. FIRST PLACE!
A lot of us including me, thought that they were going to be 5-11. Glad my team is proving me wrong. Just sucks that we have only beat one team this season with a winning record.
How the fuck did we lose to the Redskins and the Seahawks? We really should be 8-1. Although we're not really a 8-1 team so I guess maybe those two losses could help us in the long run?
I chalk up BOTH of those games to the incompetance of Mr. Smith.
No, 8-1 please. Anyone who has to go through Atlanta at home will get pantsed. If it's us I predict Chris Harris falling over a turd in the last seconds and Roddy White running 70 yards for the score.
The O-line did a terrific job of getting the Vikings pass rushers so far upfield that when they did get in range of Cutler, he had room to step UP in the pocket to deliver the pass.
And I agree with MB30 - without the penalties, the margin would have been in the 30's or 40's. Don't know what pissed off Olin, but he was deadset on blocking guys in the back all game.
Dolphins stuck it to a tough Titans team. They are a tough team.
Butter replaces Adams at NT on passing downs now. He no longer plays the 3 spot. I watched the fumble recovery on slow mo. Butter is playing on one leg. After he retires we may eventually find out the real story of what happened to the guy. He's trying to do everything with his upper body now.
We are fortunate Toeina turned into a stud this year and Melton's motor just doesn't stop. They really shored up the D. Melton backs up Toeina at 3, and then backs Pep up on the outside. He's mister everything out there.
Nobody will call this out, maybe Hub on AM radio would, but it's quite a step up having Pisa play the strong side. He cuts under blocks and pursues well, and he tackles solidly. Watching the game, I stopped focus on 55/54 combo and watched 59. He's hard to block because he sheds lead blockers really well.
Nice to see Pringles in there to defend the deep ball and spell Harris. Harris is such a run safety and such a liability deep.
With Pennington and Henne out for the fish, we have a nice shot to start to roll here and start playing some playoff football.
Not to get my hopes up on this, or jynx it, but we're winning and staying healthy.
Looked like Thigpen might give the fish at least as good a chance to win as Pennington would have.
I agree. it would be inadviseable to take Thigpen lighty. I find it hard to Believe he's not at least a #2 somewhere. Lord knows he would be the clear #1 for the Cardinals.
+1
I would have signed him in a second over TC.
Coodoze to all the Bears on the victory as the euphoria will be good until about midnight.
Now let me see here - the Cowboys have put up 33 points (so far) against the vaunted, recovered Ji-ants with "new hire" Garrett. Does this mean that if we let Lovie loose (some alliteration there) that we can put up 66 against the Peckers?
J. Garrett had that "mean and hungry look" "smile of a wolf" during Wade's Last Game (a recent direct to DVD release).
Frazier has the same "mean and hungry look" and received some camera exposure today.
Now it's getting to be time to beat up on the dauphins.
That was a really fun game to watch. Having Hester back on KO returns is a wonderful thing and such a no brainer I can't imagine why not having him in there has gone on so long. I know that it's because it makes LDL and Angelo look like dumb asses so they want to avoid it, but everyone knows they are dumb asses anyway (and they know it)so whats the big deal? They should have done this a long time ago. If it's because someone on the Bears coaching staff is reading 'Da Blog, then thank you!
I thought we could win this game but was very concerned that our Oline would be the disaster they have been all year or longer. They really seem to have a pretty decent game and held a strong defense in check all game. Can one of you guys with more football smarts break it down for me? Was this a real improvement in line play, or did the queens D phone this one in?
My boss is from Minnesota and is a big queens fan. I talked him in to coming over to watch the game today and he showed up in his purple Randy Moss jersey. This made the game that much more fun today of course. It also won me a free lunch this week.
"Ed Werder reports Vikings owner Zygi Wilf told him he is not considering firing Brad Childress." Mort twitter
The guy they need to fire is wearing #4.
Pointless firing him now, have to pay him off, the season's over already, or it will be when we kick their ass in Minnesota. Ha.
Fresno and FQD both won again.
The showdown is coming.
I was losing that matchup the whole day, until late in the Giants game. Crazy shit. I thought I lost for sure until I seen your post.
i'm going to royally whoop your ass. just so you know ahead of time...
Yep, that was f-cking lame.
I hope that this teams continues to improve from here. We looked good today.
Looked like Toe and Melton together the whole second half. Why wouldn't they just deal Butter? If he really is a cripple, he's no use to us. Loyal bastard that I am ....
Jack Handjob deep thought of the day:
Let's all give thanks this Thanksgiving to the NFL idiots dragging out this Jenn Sterger affair. Because had they moved quickly, we may have had to face Tavaris Jackson and he might have hurt us.
Let's hope they keep Mister Noodle in there until we see them again in December.
Brett Handey's deep thoughts ...
Sometimes I just thank God for allowing me to play QB in the NFL for the New York Jets, for my wonderful loyal wife, great kids, and the millions of dollars I've made every year ... and then I think ... fuck it ... I think I'll send a cock shot to Jen Sterger and leave her voice mails instead.
And the O-line that stays together, blocks together.
Miami is in a tenuous position; their QB situation has been iffy and with Pennington suffering another shoulder injury today, Henne will be playing without a safety net on Thursday.
Henne was hurt as well. We may see Thigpen.
seriously? Thigpen...man, that would be something. We need all the help we can get on a short week. Miami runs it a hell of a lot anyway, and play small ball, a 3yard pass here, a 4yrder there...it oughta be a good match-up for our D.
Yeah, I didn't catch the game; Thigpen is a nice 3rd string QB, but I imagine we'll see a ton of wildcat if Henne is out.
Thigpen is their best QB.
Not by a large margin - he was a scrub on a horrendous Chiefs team. He may be a better fit for the Wildcat than Henne, but they won't run it with him at QB while the other two guys are dinged up. If they lose him, Purple Drank will be taking snaps.
He's a nice 3rd stringer with poor vision, poor accuracy, but above average mobility and strength.
I have no wishes to be a nattering naybob of negativity, but I feel compelled to point out:
The Bengals most effective weapon is T.O. TO has still got game. We could have had TO. Imagine TO playing in Shabba's spot.
GP..+1 would love for JC to throw to TO...but then again look who our GM is..mighty muff!
Best team in the NFL, my ass...nice work, New York.
You made Jon Kitna look like a short, fat, non-concussed Troy Aikman out there.
Top three rated teams in the NFL all lost this w/e. Sweet. Funny old league.
Atlanta looks to have the easiest path to the playoffs now.
But they've really squeaked out some wins, even by our standards...
Please, someone name a SuperBowl pick (Bears don't count).
I love the short week because i get to watch the Bears that much sooner but that has to suck for the players that can barely get out of bed until tuesday afternoon because they are so sore.
If we get this kind of performance on Thursday we win by 14. Also, that is a lot of pressure to be 1.5 games ahead of the Pack as they go into their game on sunday vs the vikings. Hopefully the vikes bring their A game and steal one from the Pack.
Vikes don't have an A game.
Maybe when Berrian feels better they will.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! God, I crack myself up.
Fire Childress? How about firing whoever on their personnel team is scouting their wide receivers?
Harvin is gifted but Fragile (with a capital F).
Berrian....lol.
Rice is obviously deranged for waiting until Training Camp to get his hip sliced. I don't think he'll ever be the same.
Camarillo went "poof" as soon as he joined the roster.
Didn't you used to be Greg Lewis?
And isn't your wife that Kendra chick?
i should have said bring any game. We need them to beat the Pack so we can wrap it up with a road win against Detroit, Minny and GB. Controlling your own destiny...
Albert in Tucson -
Jean Rodgers, what a beautiful woman!
Yes, Ming The Merciless, Charles Middleton. (I have all DVD's as well) "Give Dr.Zarkhov a laboratory."
Dolphins - (Dauphins) consumed by Vulcan's: BEAR(S) Urso.
HOhohahahahahahaha!
it's haiku time motherfuckers!!!
I love the fact that this bolg has been calling for more K. Davis, more Chester, and Hester on Kickoffs. If the coaches keep listening to you guys, we could have a good second half of the season.
Yep, Jeffy got his wish on kickoff returns, they got to be reading this blog. Bless their hearts and thank you if they do. OK, Miami is next.
+1
Lovie doesn't read any media - this has clearly just occurred to him and he probably thinks he's a genius now.
O.K. boys and girls....what I got out of the game....
1. Nice hit Blogfader on the previous thread on HESTER!!!
This should of been done game one!!! maybe with the stench that LDL had in his arse hey will come to the conclusion that he is an offensive weapon as a KR & PR...keep it that way!!!!

wish we would of seen more of CT than Double Deuce...
I like that we did stick to the run because in the fourth it stated to show the wear-down to the V Queens.
3rd downs big improvement.
but times our line was thrown around like a rag-doll.
We march up and down the field and then red zone..... SHEITE!!!
JC still makes bad mistakes in that one pic..he could of used his wheels to get further than throwing a "F"ing pic.
(C+)
the pisser of the day was the bitches on Fox all but JJ went against the BEARS all I can say is FUCK YOU AND I HOPE YOU ALL GET SYPHILIS! Terry, Howie and Gap Tooth!

I am going to be dissapointed if pep or Izzy don't take farve out for good.
OH. MY. GOD!!!
I'm not complaining but why do the Vikes keep kicking to Hester?
two words: Brad. Childress.

I'll take that shit though. Damn man.

What the fuck Jay...you'd been looking so good.

Is it just me or are the Bears actually tackling a lot better this game?
hey jay, please don't throw abdullah 2 more picks... please.
oh my fucking god. STOP CALLING THAT INSANE PLAY!!!! If you MUST call it, give it to chet for fuck sake.
why, why do that? why? MOTHER FUCKER!
hester is ridiculous....
DJ MOORE IS ALWAYS IN THE RIGHT SPOT!!!!!
yeah!!!!!!
I.N. FUCKING T.
run the ball Jay....
Agreed. He could have run that one in for a touchdown. But I'll take the field goal.
Leave a comment...if Moore was 6 inches further that woould be 6.
damnit we needed 7
there's been a Trac sighting!
The score should be 24-10
Man, Earl the not-so-Pearl should have had that TD on 2nd town.
Pat Williams is one fat mother fucker
+1
Not good enough... I want him DEAD!!!!!

Can we please god have just one game where I don't worry about having a fucking coronary? Just one?
haha i feel ya bro. Thats why during most games I will begin to take valiums
WE ARE THE CHICAGO BEARS!
Aw. Goldie never misses. At least we still got the glory of recovering Favre's fumble
Gould didn't play the wind correctly. FUCK!
I hope that doesn't come back to bite us....
Looking pretty poor on both sides of the ball so far.
...but lucky to only be down 3. Come on, offense.
You've really outdone yourself with the game thread photo.
I am pissing myself.
BEAR DOWN
Hahahahaaha yes that is awesome. Nice to have something lighthearted before a NFC NORTH game that's not for the faint of heart.
Excellent Jeff.
Shady, where you been man? You missed Haiku day yesterday.
Jeff, you too. Care to throw one out there man?
With a name like Shady, do you really need to ask?
btw, favorite pic above... bottom middle. Hee hee.
My fave too. Love the collage. Well done Jeff. I read the other day that Loadholt and Shiancoe lead the Queens in false starts with 4 or 5 a piece. Sounds like a good spot for Pep. However, last year with Carolina Pep almost put McKinnie on the bench with 4 sacks. Hope he's on fire today. We'll need it.
Btw, I was watching some nfl network show last night with collinsworth, Simms, and Sapp. Couple thoughts:
Yeah i saw the segment as well, but Im not quite sure what you're talking about. He made a comment about liking the referee, the Bills QB due for a pick, and getting out of Canada and back on US soil. I also remember him getting fired up after the INT. What did you see? Lack of interest maybe at times...
He just seemed really immature Shady. Chipping at one of the coaches for clapping, whining about them putting fitzgerald's pic on the jumbotron a lot... like he was jealous about it, sitting on his own with the other QBs; just being whiney about everything.
He just doesn't strike me as a leader, firing up the other squads, telling everyone to get on it... I get it was just a few 10-second clips out of 3 hrs, but man... guy just doesn't strike me as a guy who
Yeah hard to tell with the biased media filters.
So maybe the OL is capable of effective run blocking. Here's a play breakdown with a great combo block from CW, and an edge seal by Omi. It's just one play (Forte's 6 yard TD run vs Seattle) of course, but a good one:
http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/index.asp?mm_file_id=2103
I'm not blind of course to the bad plays the OL has made too. Hopefully we see more of the good stuff today though!
bbwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! primo!!
blogfader.....can we have that made into T-shirts!! we can sell that to the Viqueens fans and make some $$$ off those bitches!!!! +1
p.s. blogfader..I think I may have lost all bowel movement on that one!!!!!
MB....hate to say it but a 20something...no maturity at all..this is were a Bulger who has been in the league sometime could of guided him...no he just has another big ego in Martzy....
examples:
Samuri-Rays Lewis
Montana-Steve Young
do I need to go on?
Guy makes ridiculous money Lobo. He was brought here to deliver us... being a 20 something isn't a good enough excuse for me.
Grow up and lead this team dude.
Funny to think that Steve Young said he learned the game of football sitting on the bench at BYU watching Jimmy Mac ... high praise.
Well, I haven't seen enough to say one way or the other.
However I will say I would not be surprised if NFL Network cherry-picked out the clips that were most childish sounding, so they could paint the picture of him they want.
Here's a counter-example: in Hester's "mic'd up" segment, Cutler sounds commanding in the huddle (about 1:23 in)...
http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/index.asp?mm_file_id=2101
"Receivers, we need you right now. We need you guys right now!"
Also, Trib reports Harvin is active, likely starting. If you missed it, Rice is still on PUP.
For those into "X-and-O"s Matt Bowen (from NFP) details one of Smith's nickel zone blitzes here, that he thinks we'll see this game on 3rd down at some point. (BTW, DJ Moore's INT vs Redskins came on a disguised nickel blitz...)
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-1114-bears-matt-bowen--20101113,0,2836246.column
And NONE of the above photos has been re-touched!
re-douched maybe
Throwbacks? NICE.
I'd feel sorry for Favre if he didn't deserve it. What an embarrassment. My only regret is that this didn't happen while he was in Green Bay - maybe there weren't any hot "game hostesses" around. Oh wait now they're calling Sterger a sideline reporter to give her more legitimacy. Da Coach was asked about the sexting shit and he said, why wait 2 years? I think that's a legitimate question. Almost seems like she was flattered at first, kept collecting the texts/pics and thought they were amusing, then when Favre's stock was falling she thought now was the time to cash in. We'll see when all is said and done if there is any evidence she told him "stop your shit or I'm going to the league and the police".
Enough Favre. Can anyone translate Haugh to English for me?
"I maintain you don't have to be good to make the playoffs, especially this year, only good enough. But those of us who believe NFL teams need not apologize for where they are in the standings, regardless of how they look on the field, have run out of rhetorical wiggle room."

Jeff, Greatest game pic thread ive seen. Super funny.
I hoping for the best from our boys but Im expectin a stressful game. Im gonna have to take some valium before this one.
MB, here you go. Not the NFL Network segment, but cb.com has the clips you're talking about and more...
http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/index.asp?mm_file_id=2139
Thanks Michael. I get there's always the media bias, he just doesn't strike me as a brady or manning (uuuhhgggg)
at least he doesn't do any gaywad commercials
only bummer about a missed field goal is that Hester doesn't get a chance to return the kickoff :(
There is no bummer about a missed FG. Hester returning one would be an added bonus.
OMG we converted on 3rd and 11. Haven't seen that in awhile...
beautiful play call. Fuck man, what the fuck... the refs are all over us!
awesome
Love it. Take away my TD on a BS call? Fuck you, here's another.
To come back and score after that penalty, I'm impressed....
what a fucking throw.
see what happens when you use him where he's supposed to be used. Greg Olsen as a WR is the only way to go. Pay to his strengths, not his weaknesses.
We're going to win this game. Vikings are going down.
say what you will about olsen! dude's got hands when he wants to use em.
see above Pizza. he's a WR not a TE.
couldnt be more correct MB
Agree with all 3 of these posts
We have an OLINE!
No we don't.
Major Penis sighting!!!!
nice d. let's see 7 more. lovin the third down conversions and the patience on offense right now.
From what I can hear, the crowd seems into it. I know there were some comments last week about how meek they've been in past home games this year...
yeah, holy oline batman!??!?! Is it that or is it just that the vikins dline went from frightening to nothing this year? Hope it's the former. They're looking excellent today.
...excellent for us.
dude, maynard, wtf?
fuck.
damn.
secondary let down...
Yeah Harvin is the only decent WR out there. That was fucking embarassing.
this is fucking ridiculous.
he fuckin slipped.... no love at home from the refs
Yeah Manu did not have the guy engaged up top. That is a bad call.
uuuummmmmm.... play calling??? boo yah.
hey, look, Cutler can run!
This same douchebag ref called a chop block twice last week against the Lions OT. Both times there was only 1 OL engaged but the ref said they used a decoy to "lure" the DL into the chop block. Needless to say it was a bullshit call.
Decoy, lure? WTF. What a douche.
cut you gotta make that throw
beautiful
YES!!!!!!
Devin! fuck yes. this is gunna be reviewed.
Holy Shit guys.... The offense looks like just that....
ugh
rashied davis. nasty.
whjy is forte such a puss? Nice work scrappy.
nice, gotta punish them if their gonna kick it short
hey old fucking geezer zebra... get off our fucking jock.
line of the thread ...
two weeks in a row with not knowing the fucking snap count or how to get set. protection looks decent but this is simple b asic shit.
Olsen lost the ball there
3rd and 6, 8 yard route! it only took 10 weeks...but maybe they are starting to get how this game works
Olsen has a good block today! Good catch on the TD. Kruetz can be my body guard any day. Jay can shove anyone he wants, Olin has his back!
Jay looks decent when you give him some time in the pocket. Good to see the O-line shape up.
play
Instead of bitching about Kreutz costing us a TD, I'll just say, Greg "Big Time" Olsen?
BOOOOOOOYYYAAAAAAHHHH!! Take one TD away...Cutty goes right back and t back to olsen and does it again!! SWeet!!!
sweet
Very nice limerick Al!
Ok, everyone ready for the return of the two bears chicks today? it is game day after all. The very very very best thread of the entire week! Yay!
I'm sensing some sarcasm.
From me Canada?!?!?!
