Thanksgiving Game Thread & Picks Contest

I'll be away from a computer for 48 hours so special for Thanksgiving Day, we're giving you guys a chance to get back into the season-long contest.  A perfect score on the three Thanksgiving games will be the equivalent of (2) perfect scores.  As the JMCyclone attempts to run away with this thing, the day could be critical.

I wish all of you a happy Thanksgiving, and appreciate the Bears fanatacism I find here on a daily basis. Take a minute to count your blessings today, and say a prayer for the Americans walking point and standing a post thousands of miles from Turkey and family on this day. Bear Down, here's to some good games today.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I find it interesting that some of the sports writers feel that the Bears made a statement beating the Dolphins last week. I feel that the statement will be made between now and the end of the season. We've got pretty much all key players healthy, and homefield advantage on three tough games.
For some of the older guys it maybe their last chance to get to a SB too. We'll see how well our luck holds out and how hungry this team is to get there and win it. Going to be most interesting indeed!

  • In reply to RogerMinton:

    no luck. Dont say luck.

    Exactly MBF. 100%

    Eagles... DEAD!
    Lions... DEAD!
    Vikings... DEAD!
    Jets... DEAD!
    Packers... DEAD!

McFucktard is such an amazing douche. He even tries to emulate Bile-a-cheat in the way he cheats. What a joker.

  • In reply to RogerMinton:

Watching the UFL chapionship btw, some decent football players and some old, recognizable names. Kind of cool.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I was in a few of the shots of the crowd - repping my Bears hat.

Good game...was hoping we'd go to OT but the blocked FG was a nice ending as well.

The Tuskers are probably wondering what they did to piss off the Omaha fans - the cheering was very lopsided.

  • In reply to RogerMinton:

Asante samual is out for the Eagles Sun. So I'm sure that will be the reason that the Bears will win this week now. Such a huge blow to the Eagles defense..OMG. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/11/27/asante-samuel-out-vs-bears/

  • In reply to RogerMinton:

Should help Jay Cutler sleep a bit easier tonight.

  • In reply to Shady:

But that's just it...we win the media is gonna say it was because Samual wasn't there and his replacement wasn't anywhere as good..mark my words.

  • In reply to RogerMinton:

Who fucking cares madd? If we win I don't give a shit if the media says it was because they think Jay is an alien. Fuck them. let's just win baby.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Amen, MB.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Just got back from spending time with my family in MN. They tried to get me to wear a Viking's jacket because I forgot my Bear's jacket. Psh, they were crazy.

I am pretty amped for the game tomm. I am hoping we win at my first game at solider field. I hope I can get some autographs.

You know, rank and numbers don't mean a lot and don't tell the whole truth. The only numbers that matter, right now, is 7-3. Let's get to 8-3,

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

Have a great first game at Soldier. Can't wait to see the
    superman costume.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Everyone talks shit about the Bears and won't believe they can win because we have the 30th ranked Offense. Keep in mind that our defense, no matter what the rank, kicks ass as does our special teams. Our punt returner/kick returner gives fear boners out like a 503b charity organization.
Boys, here is the statistical proof that statistics don't mean shit:
Here is the comparison between the 15th ranked offense and the 30th ranked offense. Please keep in mind that this is real football and not fantasy football:

Points per game: 20.2 vs 19.1 - really? fucking 1 point?
    Total Points: 202 vs 191
Number of plays: 629 vs 606 - remember 40 or so "todd collins plays" - what a fuck wad that guy is. his qb rating was 6.
Yards per game: 344 vs 294
Yards per play: 5.5 to 4.9
    1st downs per game: 18.6 to 16.4
3rd down conversion: 32/127 to 43/133 - and we had 23 less plays and Todd Collins was the fucking qb for dozens of those plays.
    4th down conversion: 2/6 to 2/5
    Penalties: 63 vs 60
Time of Possession: 29:34 to 30:14
    Fumbles: 17 to 13
    turnover ratio +6 to +3

As you can see, the difference between the 15th ranked offense and the 30th ranked offense is about the length of my penis...not the girth of Major Wright's. The difference is negligible.

After gathering all of this empirical data i have come up with a highly probably theory:
the Bears will continue to make the sports writers look like the chumps they are. they didn't perform last year when everyone said they were going to gangbang the superbowl and they are 7-3 with 6 games to go when everyone said they were going to suck on Favre's little grey penis and be the victims of the fearsome Clay Matthews Junior the 3rd, esquire, duke of gay hair-ville.

    Jackson...dead!!
    Maclin...dead!!
    McCoy...dead!!
Vick...drowned, electrocuted, tied to the wall and raped by other dogs for non performance!! Thug Lizzife!!

Oh, and while I'm on a College Football tangent...

    SCREW YOU, Alabama.

    What happened?

You guys look like the SEC commissioner called up at halftime and said "Hey, knock it off, we HAVE to have Auburn win to get that piece of the National Championship game we feel we are entitled to annually."

    First Half: Crimson Tide.

    Second Half: Crimson Hide.

  • In reply to RogerMinton:

Just came here to say the leading interceptor in the league is out and we must stick with our North Korean allies.

If the Bears win, my friend who runs a printing company wants to make a funny shirt. If you guys have any ideas, please let me know.

So far I got Olsen as Heman/Thor, Izzy as the bad dude in No Holds Barred, Pep as Jimi Hendrix....what you got. Maybe Martz as some wizard in Harry Potter?

  • In reply to Crowned:

All 57 states will stand with our ally! Martz as the Wizard of Oz, Olsen getting some courage. Pick who gets heart and brains.

  • In reply to iamndmurff:

    Muuuuuurph.... easy.

Not much respect for the... 30th ranked offense in the NFL.

    ...30th.

    Fuck me.

  • In reply to iamndmurff:

If Pep is going to be Jimi, put a huge hat on him to somewhat cover his huge ears. The guy has some jug handles on him. How 'bout Lee Emery from Full Metal Jacket for Marinelli? Urlacher and Briggsy as Jules and Vinny from Pulp Fiction?

MB, glad you gave up on the SB Shuffle idea. That idea bordered on the sacreligious.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Agree Canada... it was the first thing that popped into my mind. I think i've become more and more guilty of that here as I've become more comfortable with you guys. It's been a while since I've brought some really pithy, good shit instead of just writing down what comes to mind.

Work and real life tends to sap you of flowing creativity. Hopefully I can get back into the groove soon and bring some goodies instead of just spewing mind-diarrhea. Mea culpa amigo.

and to top it off, I get careless and then my grammar starts to suck.

I hear ya! I'm brain-dead on here sometimes because I'm so tired. Vegging here is a great stress reliever. Not to mention, there is almost always some good laughs. Definitely a fun group.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Only bad thing about living in Cali is all the NFL gear thats on sale today is crappy Niners and Raiders shit.

  • In reply to Jlehr:

Could be worse - I'm in Nebraska where it's predominantly Chiefs, Broncos, Vikings.
    Curse of the AFC West.

  • In reply to Jlehr:

    Bears.

  • In reply to Jlehr:

It's official - I'm taking my brothers to the MNF game in Minneapolis with my younger brothers (merry christmas to them!) on 12/20.
We bought some nose-bleeds, but I'm counting on the Vikings crowd to dwindle pretty quickly by the 2nd quarter. If anyone else is planning on going, let me know. It will be almost a 10 hour drive for my bros from downstate Illinois, but they are amped as hell. We will be rocking Cutler, M. Brown, and Lach jerseys and a DBB sign.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    Way to represent for DBB!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Asante Samuel is still questionable for Sunday. And SI manages to get in a dig against the Bears by flat out stating the Eagles would be better off sitting him in preparation for Houston.
    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/football/nfl/wires/11/26/Asante.Samuel.ap/index.html?eref=sihp
Of course, I won't get too worked up because we did the same thing with Pisa.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Can't get too worked up over SI. I read the piece King wrote about the game. He said something about the Fudgies and Bears being in the Central Divsion. DUH! How long ago did that change?

I remember those days of being limited to the Chiefs, Broncos, and BiQueens. Man did that suck. I had Direct TV back then (mid to late '90's). Imagine my surprise when I found out I couldn't buy just the Bears games and had to pay for the entire pkg. Never did breakdown. Missed a lot of games back then. Didn't even have a decent sports bar in town that had the NFL pkg.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    sports bar?

    What's that Canada?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

No kidding. I was living in Sioux City, IA back then. Not to put too fine of a point on it but that isn't exactly an entertainment mecca.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Oh, we have plenty of them in SD, just haven't been in one since I was about 25. Not a huge barfly and the wife, kids, work thing kinda takes over. Oh well.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Saturday ppl. Time to get amped up for tomorrow.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Here's the deal. I not only feel, think, believe that the Bears should win, but I EXPECT them to win, and I expect many, if not all on this blog expect them to win.

That's why I hate Duke, the Yankees, the old Cowboys (and new)the Twins, the Packers, the Vikings, the Patriots, Brady, Rodgers, Favre, the Flyers, the Lakers, and on, and on - because they expect to win. So many Chicagoans are crepe hangers - (many are foolish, like Cubs fans, but even with that franchise there are always expectations of some kind) I'm so very exhausted after many years as a Chicago sports fan at our willingness to not expect to win every time our teams play.

The Hawks should be kicking everyone's ass in the NHL, and what do we get - oh, yeah it's the salary cap. Eat me. The goddam Devils and "Canadiens" or whatever and even the old Blackhawks wanted and expected a Cup every year. Suck on your parity.

    Here's a song for the Packers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zey8567bcg

Anyone see Palin field a question on North Korea yet? Scary.

    Anyone still conscious ?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Jets are still on the rise - with a full year and a half in their system.

We are on the rise with about 6 months in our O system.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

I think our D is better than their O in terms of experience, and that will be the difference in the game. They do not scare me...

  • In reply to MB30SD:

You don't get to 7-3 bi (that's for you Trac) accident. I've watched them play twice this year, and they are young, disciplined, and have a good QB.

  • In reply to Crowned:

    Lions, Saints, Jets

Happy Turkey day and drive safely.

I'm thankful for a wonderful family and a great life in the greatest city in thus wonderful country.

  • In reply to gpldan:

i could see that being the case after the Giants game but since the bye week the balance has worked in everyones favor including the oline with shorter drops and more running.
how could they be at each other's throats now? if they keep this balance up and we don't get flexed or play any night games we are going to be fine. Cutler, for whatever reason plays like shit at night. it sounds ridiculous but i have to think it has something to do with his blood sugar...and that he is a fucking gunslinger.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

the problem with 2 coaches going at it is that they are both on the offense!!!!

If these 2 fucking idiots disrupt the mojo we've got going on right now i will find a way to have them killed.
i love it when coaches spoil a good thing because of their own egos. Let the players play and try not to fucking get in the way of them. i'm calling Hub to talk about this.

Hub Arkush said Bill Cowher would be our HC in 2010 based on good authority form his 'inside information'. Publicly, we all saw that he should been many times in every game. Blech.

  • happy thanksgiving boys. classic turkey bowl games doc. it was great getting the entire neighborhood to the park at the same time. we were all on the same football team anyways, it was just cool seeing 8 years worth of teams showing up. us young guys would try to show off for our idols (8th graders and the guys in highschool) that were playing highschool ball while we were still in gradeschool. older kids actually showing us moves and giving us tips for the upcoming seasons. God i loved growing up.

I was always slow and short but made up for by not being afraid to stick my nose in there. Tackling was always about technique and want to. I had an abundance of want to. By the time I hit HS I was barely over 5 foot so there was no way I was playing. Plus I had no desire to be a bench jockey. Football has always been my favorite sport and I've been a Bears fan all my life. Starting around 1960.

Happy Turkey Day everyone. We had ours last month. Hope everyone is safe and all the military personnel arrive home safely.

  • Gotta say... the Lions have some studs thanks to a bunch of high draft picks. But they need a lot of help in the secondary. I can see their (probably last) top 10 pick going on the best DB in the draft.

  • In reply to mottystone:

    Their secondary definitely needs help.

  • In reply to mottystone:

The beauty of it is, they have more high picks coming their way to get that help. They'll be NFC North champs kicking everyone's ass before long.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

The biggest thing stopping them is their franchise QB's bad shoulder. That boy needs to get healthy and play more than 2-3 games at a stretch, otherwise he's going to spend his career as one of the most talented backups in the NFL.

  • OK, had to sneak unto the computer and wish my Bears Bros happy Turkey Day! Fav dessert?

hmmmm...homemade pecan pie! or cheesecake, spread all over Megan Fox...

  • Double coverage. And he's pissed off about it. That boy has a lot to learn.

  • I'll have a double helping of Keeley Hazell pie. WOWZA! I had a nude pic of her as my avatar for about a day. Then it dawned on be that lots of us logon at work. That pic was definitely NSFW. There's no accounting for taste but for me she's as good as it gets.

  • Incredible. He's the highest rated passer in the NFL. Has run for 5 TDs. Thrown eleven. Zero interceptions, and they're talking about his decision making. I guess Cutler was too obvious a target for that article. Sheesh.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

All we need now is Rush Limbaugh telling us that if Vick were white, he'd just be average.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Damn, that Saints game was brilliant. Jerry Jones looked like a thug jammed an ice pick into his heart.

I really despise the Cowboys, that game made me very happy.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Giant shout out to Roy 'The Fucktard' Williams, for showing the NFL new and creative ways to blow games. Roy, you truly are a master of the big moment.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    And in other news .....

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

WOW ! Just from the picture you'd think the guy would have refused that invite. I think we'd have a better picture of the situation if they would have posted the two guys pictures. We can only imagine!

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    Wow.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Good one Irish! Reminds me of the old George Carlin bit. Things you'll never hear; "If you don't stop sucking my cock I'll call the police."

    Really miss George.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    I miss the EARLY Carlin.

Carlin: "You can prick your finger but DON'T FINGER YOUR PRICK!"

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Favorite Carlin Album: CLASS CLOWN. Must listening for anyone raised as a Catholic.

AM AND FM is a very close second.

Al Sleet, the "Hippy Dipper Weatherman":

"Radar shows a line of thunderstorms moving into our area.
It also shows a squadron Russian ICBM's so I would sweat the thundershorms."

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I really liked him a lot in the last 10 years too. He was a major curmudgeon but still funny as hell. I didn't care for the middle period where he was more into word play. He had a short lived show where he was a cab driver. Some of that was pretty funny.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Did you catch them making excuse for Brees throwing more INTs this season on FOX?

"..a lot of them were tipped."

  • I don't know about JMCyclone, but after yesterday I have 6 wins baby!!

  • I played hockey growing up, so for me Thanksgiving was always about being in Toronto or Detroit playing in a Turkey Tourney.

  • I smell a comeback hit for Madonna there.

I know this is going to sting Johnny a bit, but that's one of the most disturbing animal pic I've ever seen

  • In reply to MB30SD:

what the fuck man. that is one freaky ass kitty. that is a fucking cat right?

Getting front page pub again: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/peter_king/11/24/bears-eagles/index.html?eref=sihp

I think this is one of the most meaningful games we have and will set the tone for the last stretch. We win this shindig and we'll have some serious momentum going into the playoff run.

Btw, I love the way King makes it sound like he's been on our wagon since preseason. A-hole.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Notice how King said the Bears and Fudgies are in the Central Division? I'm amazed how often sportswriters screw that up.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

glad you mentioned that Canada. When I read it I made a mental mark to blast him for his insolence... and ignorance, but the tryptophan overload got the best of me and I forgot.

    Well said.

  • In reply to gpldan:

The Lions have FAIL coded into their DNA. I don't get it, they change all the people and the results are the same.

Oh and the QB said the Pats tried to hurt him:

  • In reply to gpldan:

Lion DID seem to do a nice job of pounding on Brady.

Blogging on relatives' laptops while visiting is probably frowned upon in this establishment.

OH WELL. So ready for Sunday. GO BEARS!!!!!

  • Doc, they're all over the net. What a babe!
