  • In reply to Church:

Hahahaha... no offense take at all End. Was just curious, there weren't any judgements attached to it. Just caught my attention.

  • In reply to Church:

don't understand the "F"ing queens..have one of the best running backs in the league and you put it into the hands of a drama queen..childy or as GP calls him Mr. Noodle...hehehehehehehehe! can't coach his way out of a paper bag.

  • In reply to Church:

I stopped watching the pack/vikings game... fucking garbage. Just can't stand watching those two teams when we're not kicking their asses. Too much disdain. I'm watching the steelers game now.

damn, AP is everything #22 is not up the middle... but I guess it cuts the other way, that AP is not what Matty is in the passing lanes.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

MB..this is why I think if we went w/ Double Deuce & Chester Cheetah we would have D's trying to figure out who to key on with no answer...com'n Martzy another wrinkle

  • In reply to nicholsra:

I'd like to see us run more out of the Pistol set with Matty and Chester both in.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Well, doesn't look good for the Queens at this point, guess we'll have to settle for a tie for first.
No offense guy's, but we're gonna have a tough battle if we want to get to the playoffs. Nuff said.

  • In reply to RogerMinton:

Madd...we haven't been given any help before..so I guess we are going to do it on our own....maybe it's better this way..

  • In reply to nicholsra:

    Fuck. The pack is good.

  • In reply to brocklanders:

Or the Vikings are just pathetic. Actually, I think it's both.

The vikings are officially irrelevant. They are so irrelevant in fact, that I don't even take that much pleasure in their continued implosion (well, not as much as I could). On to focusing on the Eagles... who are very beatable

  • In reply to MB30SD:

But it feels good doesn't it? The Viking implosion. I like that. Sounds good. Feels Good. Is good.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

  • third's beyoches!!

    hang on while I gag.............go Vi-Queens

  • Doc, you really thought Machida won that thing? My seahawks buddy did too. Just didn't see it... at all. Rampage pressed the whole time, got a couple great uppercuts on the break and pretty much took zero damage cept for the clinch at the end of the 3rd. Yeah, it was very close... but in no way shape or form could I give that to pissy.

I saw that Johnny, looked like some kind of fucking spider unraveling from his web... he did it so quickly it kind of took me by surprise... I was expecting rampage to drop him on his head like thor's hammer (great book btw if you like Zep). That was impressive I must admit

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    That is a great book.

  • In reply to Reverenddave:

What is the title/author, I just bought a Nook...?

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

The nook is excellent. The book is hammer of the gods, its the definitive book on zeppelin.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

It's official - I HAVE JUST WON MY 4TH WEEK. GET SOME!!!!

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

You've got to be winning this contest by a mile (or 1.6 kilometers, up here). Good job. I won once, went 0-3 once and usually 2-1. Some of it's luck, some of it is being out to lunch. Oh well.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

    Four times 3-0 ? Dang.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

I raked leaves rather than watch "Eyeburns" beat the Vikes.

Note to Self: Peyton Manning does DEMAND professional performance from a "no-name" bunch on offense.

Texans can make your quarterback into Norm Van Brocklin.

Vick can be "contained" will be beaten by the Bears defense. Despite the morons on Sunday Night Football - the Bears are the best defense in football.

I'll take Jay Cutler's mumble-jumble post-game press conferences over Vince Young's throwing his uniform into the stands.

Young is near top of the list of Wanker Of The Year Award.

  • In reply to kenbill:

Jerry Angelo ranks very close to the top of that list Jack.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I think the voting has closed on Angelo ...

  • In reply to kenbill:

I'm making a list and checking it twice: Make yours and we can do eight or nine hundred posts - in the post season.

MB30SD Memo - Jerry Angelo should be on everyone's list.

    Wanker Of The Year Award

  • In reply to FQD1911:

a man fuck them winers! I had a Winer fan talk shit to me all weekend about how The Bears are wack and Jay Cutler sucks. He also was saying how Troy Smith is was better than Cutler. Im fuckin happy that they got stomped today!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I cannot, and will not root for Brett Favre to win anything. Even when its contrary to my team's interests and even when it requires me to root for my team's biggest rival. I am sorry, but if there is anything I have learned from Favre's two season with the Vikings its that my hatred for him runs far deeper than any other team or individual in the league.

However, if clay matthews was to break Favre's leg and T-Jack were to enter the game...

  • In reply to Reverenddave:

    +1

  • In reply to Reverenddave:

i hear ya rev, but i'm rooting for the Vikes. The skins and hawks losses were too important and we need GB to lose to take some pressure off. Favre threw 3 second half INT's last game and they still had a chance to win in the last minute. GB has 4 road games in the next 5 so this is the time for them to implode. I have to say it. BRETT-do your fucking job and beat the fucking Packers. You can't hit on chicks correctly but damnit if you can pull shit out of your ass once in a while. Do it for the old Bears today. Don't worry, i didn't throw up while saying that. i made myself throw up before i said it so i wouldn't puke during the middle.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    Nicely done Johnny!

  • In reply to hollywood1:

johhny...agree..I look back now and we should of had those games..we gave them away...and as for the Vi-Qeens:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-NrPOMBKnw

  • In reply to nicholsra:

i think it's safe to say that if the bears run their balanced attack against skins and hawks we win at least one of those games. we would be 8-2 or 9-1. you just can't discount that. you can't live in the past but you can't tell me that we can't hang with every team in the league. Just get to the playoffs by any means necessary. 9 and 1 would sound pretty impressive though.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Or, as the pundits would phrase it, "The WORST 9-1 team in the history of the NFL!

  • In reply to Reverenddave:

I like that I get to use the phrase

  • In reply to MB30SD:

this is going to sound insensitive, sexist, bigoted, blunt but extremely relevant:

Jenn Sterger is not a reporter, not a "sub-contractor", not an employee of the Jets, not a real news source. Brett fucked up and sent a picture of his junk to her. It obviously didn't bother her and doesn't warrant a lawsuit, money, blackmail, suspension, etc. She never once reported feeling uncomfortable, abused, assaulted, etc. Why is this an issue now?

Ines Sainz is a swimsuit model/mexican tv sports reporter which is actually one in the same. So they fucking throw her into the Lions den wearing outfits that gave us all boners. Look at the outfits that actually got Sterger "noticed" in college and look how she marketed herself to gain internet and tv fame. she has acted like a fucking whore from day one. I'm not saying she doesn't look good but think about the mechanisms being used here for her to advance herself. You dress like that to get full male attention in a sexual manner. you act like that to get a response from male fans. you carry yourself like some sort of "hot, fun sports chick" and that you are one of the guys but you dress like a fucking stripper while you do it. are we kidding ourselves here? Am i completely off base? Am i wrong to think that this is not a real issue? if it was a true case of harassment wouldn't she have taken that irrefutable evidence to the authorities to make it stop?
if anyone is thinking about using the workplace sexual harassment angle don't bother. When i walk into my office my assistant isn't dressed like she desparately wants to get fucked by literally everyone in the office.

we need some accountability from both sides here.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

i give up. that sounded bad but it's a really ridiculous situation. it feels like a premeditated slip and fall insurance scam.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    last part of mini rant:

go to yahoo/images and type in Andrea Kramer and then type in Jenn Sterger.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

i accidentally typed it in while my wife was in the room and she was pissed that i was "looking at porn while she was around".

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Hahahahahah! I don't type in anything that could get that response Johnny... so not worth the fallout.

I agree with your rant btw.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I am a chick and I don't disagree with you, waffle. I think Ines Sainz was dressed COMPLETELY inappropriately.

I can't STAND Brett Favre and what he did was shady Mcshady, but still somewhat innocuous. He sent some pictures. I wouldn't have wanted to get those pictures, and they might have made me sick, but I wouldn't have felt "harassed" by them. Someone like Ben Rothlesberger, on the the other hand, basically raped a girl in the offseason and only got suspended for a handful of games. He got WAY less press than Brett Favre, and really what Brett Favre did was just kinda stupid. I doubt it caused THAT much emotional damage to the Jenn chick, although, as I mentioned, those pics were pretty vile to the eyes

  • In reply to BearsChick:

BC, the pics were completely inappropriate and he should be lambasted for it, as is holding them in a phone for 2 years for future payouts like some penis annuity.
women have struggled for decades in this country to gain acceptance on so many levels so to see women/girls slutting themselves out to meet some male generated fantasy that so many women seem eager to fulfill seems hollow and contrived to me.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Yes, the pics were inappropriate, but we never heard any side of the story but hers. I have a hard time believing that Brett Favre just sent pics of his--whatever that was--out of the blue. I'm certain there was prior contact. She was probably responding coyly to his text advances/phone calls...etc. She might have thought it was just for fun/cute etc. then she cried foul when Brett took it too far and sent the nasties. I'm just saying, these things are rarely so one-sided.

  • In reply to BearsChick:

it will all come out in the end and ultimately it is just Brett acting like a fucking tool. i like accountability so Brett needs to face the music on the job front, the legacy front and the homefront. I also had to call out the ridculousness of our sexualized culture of which a maxim model/sexy co-ed/Jets sub-contractor/1 month talk show host is one of the outcomes.

  • In reply to BearsChick:

    Said it before regarding Inez:

"If you DRESS like a Ho',
don't be surprised when you're TREATED like a Ho'.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

okay. fourth quarter. someone needs to get injured. I vote for a Packer.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Plop.
    Flush.
    Swirl.
    Buh-Bye Wangler.

Sitting here rooting for the Lions at this point. Too depressing.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

I know what you're saying Johnny and I agree with a lot of it. She was actually employed by the Jets at the time. I'm guessing her duties were to look good, be fun and make sure the big-money, corp. suite holders have a good experience. That doesn't mean she was working a pole and doing lap dances. I'm guessing she's not Mary Poppins but that doesn't mean she was dying to see a creepy 40+ year old's junk. Or the lame-ass phone msgs. Overall, I think it's a tempest in a teapot but I'm really glad it makes Favre look just that much more pathetic. What a fucking wanker!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Canada - it sounded harsh and i'm sure she is a nice woman but i don't like the pretenses under which she is getting her employment because it is the same pretense that can result in really bad sitations happening and no one wants to see anything bad happen that could be avoided.

just look at the internet and try to see why i am wary of this whole situation. would this be an issue if she found him wildly attractive and responded positively to his awkward old man advances?

  • In reply to hollywood1:

If she was attracted to him it wouldn't be an issue. Obviously, she isn't so it's pretty creepy. I get the phone calls. Sending pics of his junk is way over the top. I don't get dong shots. Women for the most part aren't visual like men. So seeing a guys tallywacker isn't exactly the highlight of their day. Unless your nickname is Tripod or The Ol' Taildragger, what's the point?

I'm guessing Favre is kissing major ass at home and buying his wife and daughters don't hate me/divorce me presents by the truckload.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    I think I can, I think I can....
    Not comment on this.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    Holy Jets!

Say what you want about braylon Edwards, dude just won that game for them. Welcome to the big leagues little panch

  • In reply to MB30SD:

What part of "Don't let them get behind you or catch it on the sidelines" do the Houston D-backs not understand?

    Pathetic, Texans. Truly, utterly PATHETIC.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Sorry, ender. 3-0 means 3-0 , not 2-0-1.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

So, what did we learn today, class?

We all KNOW 3 picks in a game for Qb is a crime

Howver, by listening to how the commentators handle it, we learned that when one of the MANNING boys throws 3 it's a misdemeanor.

When Jay Cutler throws 3, it's a FELONY.

Collinsworth basically COMPLEMENTED Eli for throwing his last one.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Absolutely! I have came to believe that alot of analyst do not lie Cutler. But fuck it who does like our Team.

  • In reply to Grizzly559:

Does anyone here like Cutler? Nobody did a month ago, that's for sure.

  • In reply to brocklanders:

    Speak for yourself.

  • In reply to brocklanders:

You're playing fast and loose with the facts, Wrigley.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

That's just plain false wrigley. Just because I want him to get rid of the ball faster doesn't mean I don't like him.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I'm glad the dog killers won tonight, because it helps the Bears in the tie breaker when they win next week. On a non football 2am note, here's my favorite song of the year. Beware, it's a blues tune with the best slide player in the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBzU9ephKkw&feature=related

  • In reply to TheFifth:

Hey Cor, have you seen any of the Eric Clapton Crossroads concerts? Derek, Susan and band totally kick ass. I'm not sure what they are doing now but I always thought it was odd they fronted their own bands instead of playing together. I saw her about 15 years ago before she was really well known (and before she was married to Derek). Very talented. I love Derek's playing. I avoid calling any musician the best. Always starts arguments that have no resolution.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

    "Lay down, Sally,
Come rest you in my arms,
Don't you hink you want some one to talk to..."

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Too late for NBC. I believe they must provide 2 weeks notice.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Ive watched parts of them on you tube, but never been to one. Thought about going this year, but had other plans. Been to Blues Fest, but it's just too crowded for me. I've seen Derek in concert many times with the Allman Brothers and solo, but never seen Susan. They toured together with their own band all this year, but never got close enough for me to see them. I hope they come out with an album, because their new songs are lights out. I agree with you on the "best" thing. I guess I'll just say my favorite slide player.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

Cor, I believe you live in Wisc. If you aren't busy over the 4th of July, check out the Miss. Valley Blues Fest. in Davenport. IA. Usually a good lineup, 2 stages and cheap as hell. I think it's still $15/day or a 3-day pass is less than $45. MVBS.org for more info.

I used to go to the Blues Fest when it was at Navy Pier a million years ago. I agree the Blues Fest is way too crowded to enjoy it. Not to mention you can see about half of the acts up close and personal in one of the local clubs most of the year.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Seymour fined $25K for the Big Ben slap.

  • In reply to sjvl:

Where can I send my check?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    Ha!

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

Asante Samuel with an MCL strain and he'll be fine in a week... yeah, good luck with that. I had one my freshman year in college, didn't take 7 days to get better. That thing sucked, if it was anything worse than a tiny little sprain... tht dude ain't going to be able to cut on that leg.

    http://www.northjersey.com/sports/112210_Injured_Eagles_cornerback_Ellis_Hobbs_will_sit_vs_Bears.html

  • In reply to MB30SD:

If Assante took the week off, that would be OK with me.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    to the "FQ Fund."

  • In reply to FQD1911:

    Ha!

    ...again.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    A definite bargain.

  • In reply to sjvl:

Sorry, boys and girls, I can't cheer for the cheap shot of the sucker punch.

If it's OK for someone to do it to Big Ben, then you open the door for someone to take a free shot at Cutty.

Like I said earlier, careful what you wish for and if I were King Roger, Seymour would have the week off to spend with the rest of the turkeys.

  • In reply to sjvl:

If the lowly Skins can have this much fun with a...
    "Skins Pitbull Party"

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT5NBODgR4s

what will our boys to him.....a "Bear Mauling"?

  • In reply to sjvl:

Steeler fans are whining because it wasn't more.

There's actually a SCALE for throwing a punch and Mr. Seymour is a level 2 offender.

  • In reply to sjvl:

The Bears and Packers are tied for giving up the least amount of points in the NFL. If the Bears keep playing it close to the vest, and don't turn it over, they should win 3-4 more games and make it into the playoffs. Once in the playoffs, anything can happen. I love it that every game matters this time of year. The Bears can hang with anyone right now with their defense. I'm really looking forward to the last six games.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

I like to think every single game matters from week one. That's why I was so pissed of we lost to sucky teams like Washington and Seattle. Those losses could come back to haunt us. Even the Giants game was winnable, the defense gave us every opportunity to win that game.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Bears will beat the Eagles!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

We will beat them by alot

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

The Manning brothers let me down yesterday. Not that I'm a fan of either, but I like their opponents less.

Eli Manning showed why the slide is generally the better call. That was a huge loss when he fumbled.

Three big targets: The Dog Killer, Avant, and McCoy. Our Bears can take these guys. One good game does not an MVP make, and that was proven last night.

    Collinsworth is an idiot.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

McCoy is a dangerous little scatback. He's no Brian Mitchell or Westbrook, but he's no Garrett Wolfe either.

Looks like Pisa will play on Sunday.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

any way nbc trys to flex this one? and whats the weather projected to be like dogkilla/thugs hate cold weather BEAR DOWN GENTS!!!

  • In reply to pankster:

Cloudy with a high of 43.

I will be there in my costume.

Y'all know who Superman's fav NFL team is baby.

  • In reply to pankster:

It's already been moved to 3.15. Days ago.

  • In reply to pankster:

    New thread please...

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    No shit

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

And when Manning throws SIX picks, it's barely mentioned and then never happened. Repeatedly choking in the playoffs also becomes just a bigger entitlement to super bowl rings. And actually sucking in the super bowl but your team wins makes you the MVP. Sheesh.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

That's a tad shy of saying women who get raped deserve it for looking like women. Favre is a very famous man, married with children, waves the Christian flag ... he sent cock shots to someone other than his wife. That's a story , and I hope he pays the consequences.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Of course he will pay a price. Just don't let the rest of the facts and points made get in the way of your retarded comment. that may be the dumbest comments you've ever made Irish. My point has nothing to do with "she deserved to be raped because she was dressed like a whore". A tad shy? how about not in the same ballpark. you are becoming the Joy Behar of this blog dude. think about it. sometimes i think you disagree and dissent just to have something to do. i nominate this most recent post of yours to be the most generalized, misguided blanket statement regarding a completely different subject that i've ever read. brutal.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Clearly the Giants can do this. They may have figured it out.

The Bears will do it better.

  • In reply to sjvl:

Why so? The Giants kicked the shit out of us ...

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

You know it doesn't work that way...and even you have to admit both sides of the line have improved since then. I think this Bears team vs. the current Giants roster is a toss-up at worst. Our D just got worn down that game, particularly after Jay's first concussion.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

It would certainly be interesting to play the Giants post-season. Eli Manning scares nobody.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Agreed - he is mediocre most of the time.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Ok, so I admit to being overly-optimistic last night. They did look like they were getting close to shutting the Dog Killer down.

Every week is a week, and The Bears have improved A LOT since playing the Giants.

  • In reply to sjvl:

    IrishS: Things change.
Andrea Kremer not on-screen tonight? Hmmmmmmm!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I will comment before lunch, to avoid chunks on my sweater...

If the Wangler has any juice left, I hope he brings it today. If not, then I hope they really take him and his junk out of the game - forever.

Can't help but hope for a big hit from Clay today.

    Priceless!!!!!

  • Actually, Doc, male reporters go into female locker rooms. Not often, but they do. I really think the whole locker room thing is stupid. Let the athletes come down, get a shower, dress and talk to the media afterwards. I know the press would cry a river because tons of controversial stuff comes out when athletes are still amped up. Oh well, I could live with a little less drama in sports.

Then they (The Media) don't get any overwrought, adrenalin-charged sound bites from physically and emtionally exhausted players and coaches to run with.

They would then have actually behave like REAL journalists, who, by the way, are all but EXTINCT!"

I honestly believe that after his football career he will be in the soap operas. The shit we had to deal with him for the past years I think will tarnish his legacy.

  • In reply to kenbill:

Eagle fans are just Raider fans who can't afford to move to Oakland.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

That might be the most accurate statement i've ever read. Can't stand either sets of fans. talk about mob mentality with those groups.

Assante Samuel will be writing a check to King Roger this week.

  • We shut down his passing game easily, just don't give him all day to stand in the pocket like the Skins did. Cover 2 takes care of the rest (as long as we play Pringles and not Harris). Can we contain his running, that's the Q.

OK, I know in Vegas that it would be a push(therefore a loss)if I picked Pats +3. Is Jeff giving us the Tie? I forget. If so that gives me two 3-0 weeks(not that we will actually get anything for winning)

  • In reply to Church:

That's a victory for Colt backers (+3), but Jeff seems to be counting 'ties' for his own battle with the siblings.

  • In reply to Church:

A push is not a loss. It's a push. If you make a 3-team parlay and you win 2, and push on the third, you will get paid as if you only bet a two team parlay (your third game would be effectively removed, not helping your payout, but not killing your parlay either). For the purposes of Jeff's contest, 2-0-1 shouldn't be good enough. it would be like if you only picked two games, and won both of them.

With all due respect, Jeff Fisher is having no shortage of lately, of "guys who can't play for jeff Fisher". The Titans have turned into quite the little zoo.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Fair enough - but I'd say it's likely those same guys are failures elsewhere too. We'd have to compare notes on who you're referring to.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

"RT @jemelehill: Via @VikingsFootball --MINN has fired Brad Childress. Leslie Frazier has been named Interim Coach for the rest of the season."

guess all it took was a serious ass whooping at home to GB. Frazier gets his shot...maybe benches Favre. all is right in the world.

All good things must come to an end I guess =(

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Personally, I hope none of our remaining games are flexed... because cutty sucks at night. Let's have the rest of our games early please.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

You are the Chicago Bears QB. You are going to play a lot of prime time games. This isn't Denver. Nut-up and fix it.

  • In reply to zmac:

While I always enjoy an unsolicited crackback on Denver, the fact is the Broncos have probably been a MNF staple more than we have, esp. during Elway's reign.

  • In reply to gpldan:

yeah I don't feel like "chicago bears QB" is synonymous with prime time. Kyle orton and shane matthews don't exactly jack-up the ratings. Which is probably why we don't get nearly as many prime time games as the other large markets (steelers, cowboys...)

  • In reply to brocklanders:

Pundits aside, the NFL TV Networks WANT the Bears to be relevant. Many of the NFL's highest rated games have the Bears attached to them.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    My point exactly.

  • In reply to brocklanders:

You are misunderstanding. The Bears QB isnt prime time - the Bears are. Being in CA, I see a hell of a lot more Bears games on TV than Bronco games (unless they are playing the Chargers/Raiders).

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Leslie Frazier could be a damn good coach.

  • In reply to zmac:

But a good HC? We'll see.

Ditka just gave him big props, said he laughs when he hears people talk about shutdown corners - Bears used to play 90% man-man and Frazier was the best in the league. Said Frazier had plenty of what you need - character.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Thats what I said "could be". He is on the short list of coordinators deserving of a HC job. It will be interesting to see how he does.

  • In reply to zmac:

Did anyone see the hand gesture Ditka did during Monday Night Counntdown? I don't know for sure, but I don't think that was supposed to be on camera.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    game's at Soldier field GP

  • In reply to gpldan:

This weeks game was flexed from a 12pm start to a 3pm start wasnt it? I have the Schedule they put out before the start of the season and it shows a local start time of noon. So looks like they pushed it back to put it on national Tv and not compete with the early games.

  • In reply to Jlehr:

yea b/c they know it's going to be a good game. smart move NFL.

in fact, NBC tried to flex the Pats-Bears game to Sunday night. CBS told them to fuck off

  • In reply to Jlehr:

That was FOX's decision last week. Apparently, the next Bear game that is a good bet to be 'flexed' to Sunday night on NBC is the finale in Green Bay.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

seriously? where'd you hear this from?

  • In reply to FQD1911:

I believe it was discussed on The Dan Patrick Show and/or MIKE & MIKE.

The NFL would KILL for that game to be for the North Division Title and NBC would DIE for the ratings numbers it would generate.

Chilldress is a winner at touching peepee's.

It's amazing how one ignorant man can significantly alter the number of adoptions for a certain dog breed per capita. Before the dog fighting scandel came out, I think the majority of Americans thought pit bulls were scary and dangerous. An unsuitable pet for a normal family. But, after everything came to light, it's like the country gained sympathy for pits and forgot they can tear heads off. Now, I walk down the street and see a 90 pound woman trying to control her adopted pit bull that severly outweighs her and decides where it wants to go. Adopted pit parents like to stop and tell you how they're dog was rescued from the worst fighting ring in the state and how the dog was stuck in a crate for a month and was on its last legs. I see baby's playing with pits at parks and pit bulls and shitzus from the same families. I love pit bulls and think they're great dogs, but it blows my mind how mainstream and accepted they have become in society since Vick got busted.

Agree with Crown - My brother in law has a pit - belongs to his son - and my son wanted to bring his daughters (my grand-daughters) to his home. My wife said she would whack my son if he brought the girls to the same house as that dog.

When did Tony Dungy begin to "run it all"? Is he pushing for Goodell's job or what?

Just me - but Dan Patrick gets very smarmy.

Pits are fine for the dog lovers and all - but there are some breeds that just do not belong with children, and possibly some adults.

  • In reply to gpldan:

oh, late to the game as usual.

I hate vegas, not my style - Cabo is where i (used to go) to party. Sick bastards. #4 is almost as nasty.

  • In reply to gpldan:

On a sidenote, I would absolutely love to see Harrison knock that troll looking asshat the fuck out.

  • In reply to Crowned:

This one I'm sure was missed by everyone:

Tommy Waddle and that big black dude on NFL Network really got into it and started shouting at each other. Waddle said Farve should be forced to play out his contract, that's what a professional does and Farve gives them best chance to win. The black dude was pissed, he said it's time for Tavaris to go in and Farve can go home.

That paled in comparison to the SNF pregame show, where Rodney Harrison looked like he was going to fight Tony Dungy. Dungy took the Farve side, giving him the 'Farve is the best they have' and 'Tavaris had his chance and didn't perform.' lines, and Harrison looked like he was going to throw a punch defending that it was Tavaris' time and Farve was done.

I think it's amusing that Farve is so far past his stink date, that it has come to this. The argument is semi-racial it seems now, Farve triggers that 'any white QB is better than a good black QB' trigger and people are getting EMOTIONAL over it.

Not shocked that Dungy took Farve's side, he's such a company man and ass kisser.

Of course, I hope Farve holds out so we can stack and rack him one more time and send him home in a bodybag. But I think he's on a plane to Mississippi and his lawyer's office. The NFL is going all Seth Green in Enemy of the State on his ass, and is going to trace the cell tower records to that junk shot and find out it came from his phone, and when that happens - he will have just lied to Goodell and he will stick Farve with something painful.

That stupid junk shot may have cost Brett a trip to Canton, Ohio until he's a very very old man.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Not to mention probably a marriage unless he pays his wife to stay. What a dumb broad if she does.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Seriously doubt that GP. If the HOF can put LT and Michael Irvin in, Favre's a no-brainer. Favre's an altar boy next to those two.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

LT's sins came after he was inducted. Irvin never made the commish of the NFL look bad.

Farve lied to Goodell to his face about the junk shots. THey are gonna trace those messages through SMS and nail his ass for that.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I'd be pretty shocked if the HOF committee didn't know about LT's drug use when they voted him in. I know they knew about Irvin's. I'm guessing the HOF committee really won't give a rat's ass about Favre lying to Goodell. Favre has been buddies with the press forever. They will turn a blind eye to this.

We've mostly managed to skirt the injury wagon.

Who was it, Jamie Dukes? No doubt he's pulling the race card there - the fact that T-Jack has never done shit wouldn't occur to him. So Favre gets 20 million for 9 games? That might just about pay off his wife's settlement when she eventually co0mes to her senses and puts the dollar before God. She probably believes whatever bullshit story he told her.

It got really hairy between Matt Millen (is it?) and Steve Young on MNF too.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

I saw that too. I thought Millen was about to wipe that smirk off of Young's face. I wish he would have. Young was a great QB but he's really a fucking asshole.

Collinsworth might be the biggest dingleberry in broadcasting, but he was correct that the Giants were sucsessful in bringing safety, corner and LB blitzes to force Vick to the right side. Vick can't effectively throw on the right side, so as long as your run D is in position (that's gap discipline in Lovie talk) on the right to stop a run gash by #7, you're in good shape. You gotta bring heat on him; cause him to make quick decisions. I expect Marinelli to have an extremely aggressive game plan and not pray that the front 4 can generate enough of a pass rush. Daniel Manning should be at the line ready to blitz almost all game. Wouldn't mind sending Pringles, since he showed in pre-season he can get there on the blitz. It's risky and it will create one on one match-ups, but you can't let Vick sit in the pocket all day. Their O-line is pretty solid, despite being a little banged up and having a backup center. Macklin scares me just as much as Jackson and already has 7 TDs. McCoy has serious break-away speed, so the first on ball defender must get a paw on him. Celek is a nice big target too that has been used seldomly this year.

We need to out-physical these little specialty offensive fuckers. When you get a chance to lay wood on one of these fragile fucks, line it up and don't regret that you didn't take a better shot.

The Bears need a challenge like this to elevate their play. I think we've been playing down to the competition for a while.

Jay, don't throw to Asanti Samuals side. Let's not have another DeAngelo Hall kid a day. Thanks.

It's gonna be the dog killa thrilla in manilla.
By the end of this game, hopefully Vick is pissing blood and has diarrhea.

Everyone has been talking redemption for Vick and how he has transformed as a person and is responsible and genuinely sorry for what he's done. That is the biggest bullshit I've ever heard. He is excelling on the field so the media and others are quick to forgive and forget.

  • In reply to Crowned:

Absolutely agree on all points. They are finesse, finesse, finesse.
And as opposed to when Vick was younger, I'd much rather have him break contain and have to run for yardage than sit back in the pocket and pick us apart.
If he gets hit, his accuracy WILL deteriorate.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

100% MBP. Vick is really looking to sit in the pocket and throw first as opposed to run now. I think he is a bit hesitant to run b/c he wants to prove that he is an all around QB. He showed he can run in the first part of his career, now he wants to show people he's just as good throwing.

And if we're gonna send LB blitzes, send Pisa and keep Lach and Briggsy in coverage. Pisa seems to be the quickest to the Q out of our LBs.

  • In reply to Crowned:

He got lit up a couple times last night and as you get older those kind of hits leave you hurting for a few days. I'm thinking thats why he's not running as much.. his busted ribs reminded him of his age.
I just hope the Bears kill the dog killer!!

  • In reply to Crowned:

Don't know if you guys watched the game last night, but on one of his second half breakaways he tried to go down and got blasted. I think if he tries that shit with Lach, Briggsy, Manning... he's going out with bruised ribs again, or a concussion.

I vote for the ribs (not career threatening and is only for a couple weeks)

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Anyone heard any news on Pisa? That dudes also been a beast this year. He gets overshadowed by Briggs and Lach but is still putting together one hell of a season.

  • In reply to jbenton:

One of my favorite Bears JAB. The news is he's gonna play. Not practicing today, but he will play Sunday.

  • In reply to Crowned:

Thanks for the heads up. Dude can ball. Big hitter and great to have him healthy. He's sneaky good.

  • In reply to jbenton:

I like Pisa, but we over rate him on this site. He's out for one game and we have a shutout. Roach clip is just as good.

  • In reply to MASOCHR:

No one was more over-rated than Hillenmeyer. We automatically sucked when he was on the field and seeing him in the Mike for a year sucked the life out of me. I love you Brian.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

amen to that. Hillenmeyer should be showing me what mutual fund to invest in not playing middle linebacker for the bears

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Cameron Wake can do both. That guy's living the dream.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

We just had flash floods in the city for a good 2 hours. Hopefully, the park district continued their negligent upkeep of the field by leaving the tarp off that shit and letting it soak in. No rain scheduled on game day Irish, but there is a high school championship game at Soldier on Friday. So, hopefully those young kids have at that grass and tear it up. Have at it boys, throw some leg sweeps if you have too. That should slow down Vick, Jackson and Maclin a bit.

  • In reply to Crowned:

Sweet. I'm doing a rain dance. We played them in the 'fog bowl', now we need the 'bog bowl'.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Good one. Agreed. The fog bowl was incredible.

Another 2 guys to watch... Vincent Brown and DeMarco Sampson out of SDSU. Sampson is the slightly bigger receiver, but Brown will be a steal for any team.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

MB...understand bro about how it feels about your son. If that video does not get you choked up as a dad..I don't think anything will.

I can tell you from experience my son was in flag football this year..he loved it...played both ways..quarterback/DE again flag football mind you. Our Coaches were teaching discipline and skills. Season was going great until about the fourth game when I(Coach) and my family overheard the other coach screaming "Take out #9, Take out #7" ..he shit that was my kid (#9) he was talking about..Wait..this is flag football mind you and this motherfucker was talking about asking a kid to take out my kid!!

Well I can only tell you at the end of the game a flash of white light came over my eyes, and so I confronted the other Coach and asked "If you want to take someone out !@#$%$!@#$#!@ why don't you start with me! He and his family and all his other coaches looked at me like I was nuts. I explained to him what I heard everything he said about taking certain players out..he tried to back peddle and said that was just his verbage for blocking out someone..basically coming back to him I said "bullshit" you say take a kid out to a kid it means "Take him out" they can't figure out the difference.

I went in front of the Council to express that this is flag- not pads-not tackle..The attitude was this..at the end of the season they decided it will only be tackle from now on. So instead of teaching discipline and technique with kids..we teach flying projectiles (kids) great for the concussion studies for the future.

Hey I have no problem when they are in JV or H/S to go tackle..bodies have grown enough to take the hits, but at the younger kids age my attitude is to teach technique and discipline. Fuckers are just living vicariously through their kids.

Now as a adult and watching my Bears play hard with those kind of hits..yeah I love to see that "Blew him up" but these gladiators know that comes with the job. I understand that, but kids man I think there is a line that should not be crossed.

Hey DBB's what's your input on this?

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Know who's coaching your kids and BEWARE (or at least be WARY) of the "Knute Rockne / Billy Martin" wannabes who quickly lose sight of what they're SUPPOSED to be doing out there.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Al..agree found that out the hard way.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Tough one. I played organised 'flag football' as a teenager. Thing was we didn't have any 'flags' so it ended up being full contact football with no pads, no helmets. I loved it. Got up before the sun, rain or shine, sat on four buses and gave up my Sundays just so I could train with the team. Thankfully no one ever got seriously injured, but I know I would have gone off on my father if he didn't let me play. He likes rugby so it was no big deal. You can wrap your kids up in cotton wool ... but you can't shelter them their whole lives - if he says to you one day that he wants to play HS ball or whatever, takes a hard man to say "No Son, you can't play the game I/you love ..."

    What will be, will be.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Nice one MB. We need to think about drafting Urlacher's heir too. What do you guys think? Draft a monster safety, lock him ion the gym and groom him ?

  • In reply to Crowned:

    The Packers three losses :

    1. A certain team from a certain town beginning with 'C' ending in 'O' with 'hicag' in the middle ....

    2. A close one to the Redskins.

    3. A close one to the Fins.

They don't look so scary do they? No running game, certainly not against us. Ahem. Let's hope nothing terrible happens to Greg Jennings in the meantime, eh ? Tee hee.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

They have two overtime losses and a last minute givaway at soldier field...... 9 points total in all losses.

they have the largest point differential (by a lot).

Tied (with us) for the best scoring Defense in the NFL.

Beat the Jets on the road, Eagles at the Linc., smashed the queens in the dome.

They scare the fucking shit out of me.

  • In reply to Crowned:

And can they do what only one team out of the last nineteen visitors to the Georgia dome has done, and beat them? They're AWAY to the Pats, and still have to play the Giants and the big bad Bears - three decent defenses to say the least. No matter what happens, we have to bash them in their own house. We do that and it's all gravy.

  • In reply to Crowned:

Holy shit crown... how fucking awe inspiring must it be to play your high school championship game at Solider fucking field? Like a muslim going to mecca. Damn.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Cannot imagine; ball hair putting its hands in the sky for days. They didn't have a football program at my high school. A student in the 40s or 50s got paralyzed and they nixed it. Got to play in the Dean Dome though. Un fuckin believable. I also stole Jerry Stackhouse's mouth gaurd from the locker room. Don't ask me why; it was out in the open.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Crown, I seen your post about Galactic in NOLA for New Years. That will be an amazing show. I'm sure they will have a ton of top notch guest artists and tear it up all night. Get your funky groove going!
I'm pumped up for late January. Going to Negril, Jamaica for six days to see Gov't Mule with Eric Krasno and Chapter 2 play on the beach for five nights. Sax player Ron Halloway and Trombone Shorty are also guest musicians. Hopefully Mean Willie Green comes down to play some funky drums.

  • In reply to TheFifth:

Corm, I've seen you repping Mule on here for a while and I'm planning to give them a listen. They're definitely in a genre I love, but heard they are like Widespread and I can't stand that type of southern rock for some reason. I'm more of a funk and horns type of guy.

Love Krasno. Probably the best modern jazz guitarist besides John Scofield in my opinion. Seen Soulive a handful of times. Trombone Shorty is the tits and I'm sure I'll see him playing with someone in NOLA. He brings sort of a hip hop/new youth style to the trumpet. He's kind of taken over as the modern day Louis down there, although Kermit Ruffins is a more classic trumpet staple in the Big Easy still.

Never seen Halloway, but the dude has worked with everyone from Dizzy to Little Feat to the Allmans. Guy must have serious chops. When it comes to sax, Maceo Parker and Karl Denson are my guys.

Galactic's opener is Tea Leaf Green, a band I've heard good things about but never seen. I used to see lots of live music, but that's tapered off the last couple years. But, to me there is nothing better.

You're favorite band, great guest perfromers, Jamaica, 6 days in cold January. What else can you ask for bro? Soak it ALL in.

I like staying under the radar.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

    +1, Lobo.

  • In reply to MASOCHR:

We could have shut out Thigpen and that O with Todd Collins at LB. Pisa is 6th on the team in tackles and that is with missing a game and coming out for DJ in nickel packages. He's playing at the same level as Lach and Briggs in my opinion. And he plays specials. Daniel Manning might be the only player that's more versatile than Pisa.

  • In reply to Crowned:

Redskins let him stand in there all day long. Unleash the dogs! So to speak ...

  • In reply to Crowned:

Vick's and McCoy's speed (don't forget Jerome Harrison) gets severely blunted on grass. Pray for rain.

Vick did his time. Didn't rape anybody, didn't kill anybody - people that have done are playing football right now and nobody says a word. You can do what you like to girls in toilets with your own security outside, but hands off the dogs ....

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

That's the NFL and/or the media's stance, but not mine. Particularly on the rape issue. Most of the killers do end up in jail, fortunately.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Didn't Pepper's play agasint Vick all the time..

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

While Vick's comeback tale will lead the news coverage, the real story is that this game could decide the Bears' season. Tied with Green Bay atop the NFC North with six to play, the Bears need all the breaks they can get. Getting Vick at home is the first.

"Our crowd will be into it," Smith said. "And we plan on giving them something to cheer about."

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

While they re-evaluate the status of banged-up quarterback Brett Favre(notes), the Minnesota Vikings have a player that they are likely to lose for the season: right guard Anthony Herrera(notes).

The Vikes got pummeled by the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, 31-3. Herrera wasn't around for most of it, going out on the team's first possession with a knee injury, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He was still awaiting an MRI Sunday night, but coach Brad Childress was pretty certain the guard was done for the year, the paper reports. It's believed to be a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the Star Tribune notes.

The 315-pounder has been with the team since his rookie season in 2004 and has been the starter since 2007.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

I really do not like the The Paper Chargers, and I feel dirty when I throw a bet on them. Yet here I sit, waiting for them to turn into the team they are suppose to be.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    yea he is.

  • In reply to Grizzly559:

Bit of an issue with "ball Security" but he is also my idea of a fullback. Picked him up for my fantasy team at ourr mid-season free-agent draft.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

i'm fucking pissed off (kind of)...and here's why:

I was thinking about the "parity in the league" flavor of the day comment everyone makes about the league. I have decided that "parity" is bullshit if it is going to be used in a negative way to discount the effort of a team in a game they win. why is it so bad that there are no super fucking terrible teams out there that can't win there way out of a paper bag. i don't even know if that is a saying. This is professional football and just the like the UFC it is great that any team can win on any day.

If people keep saying Minnesota has no weapons this year and blames that on their woes i'm going to fucking puke. They are missing Sidney Rice and that is it. They have everyone else including adrian fucking peterson. The Bears hurt Harvin. He was in the damn game against us until CG almost broke his leg in half. Minnesota has no excuse not to win except maybe that is what happens when you stop taking PED's. (williams, williams, allen)
I drink bears kool aid but why is it so fucking impossible to think that the Bears can't beat every team in this league if we keep doing the same things on D and SP while running a balanced attack and getting more proficient at it? A lot of people don't believe in this team and it is annoying. we are 7-3 and pissed away 2 of those games. The defense was still stout in those 2 games and the special teams came to play again. This team will make the playoffs barring injury to Cutler, Peppers, Lach ,Briggs. Anything can happen in the playoffs. i am fully confident that we beat Philly. Then bring on the next fucking victim.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

bro did you just fucking read my mind right now? You put the fucking Cherry on the cake with that shit.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

yeah you're definitely right about the whole parity thing. I'm pretty sure that pundits are almost encouranged to regurgitate those same cliche lines, and I don't think any of them really take it seriously; I just refuse to believe they are not that dense.

You're definitely right, the Bears can beat anyone. They can also get beat by anyone too. And you could say the same thing about most teams this year. And I think that makes it twice as entertaining.

as the O-Line gets better, Cutler will get better because he'll then start trusting that he won't get pummeled. he'll be fine in night games.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

So I still don't get that... if we lose every single non-conference game (eagles, Pats, Jets), but beat the vikes, detroit and squeak one out against the pack last game of the year... who gives a crap about philly, NE, and NJ?

yeah, it's not a given by far and away... but I would much rather sweep the division that anything else, and doing that guarantees us a first game bye and home field doesn

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Putting all our faith is going to lambeau with the division on the line is, in my opinion, the kiss of death. Beating everyone else in the north on the road is an unbelievable difficult task. I don't know why we're taking the vikings game for granted. It's in a dome.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

I'm not making that argument. Roethlisberger is a pig, but that doesn't mean I have to forgive Vick.

What??? This season is frought with fortune.

    No injuries (huge).
Packers decimated by injuries on D.
    The calvin johnson play
    18 flags against green bay.
    receiver-less vikings.
Qb-less (along with marshall and the offensive line) Dolphins.
We get the pats and jets at home, and the panthers from NFC south.
packers get pats and jets on the road, falcons from NFC south.

Everything is bouncing our way, which on one hand concerns me because our record is decieving, but on the other - more important - hand, excites me because in this game of inches, those breaks mean wins. And all we care about is wins. I just hope the breaks keep coming.

  • In reply to brocklanders:

    Indeed Wrig., indeed.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Damn trigger finger... I was going to finish by saying:

...but, I was talking about the REST of the season. I'm not looking backwards sir, I'm looking ahead. No matter how you cut it, the pats, jets, and eagles, along with the pack coming up is peril any way you want to define it.

Not saying we can't keep our good fortune streak alive, just saying we play like we played in the first quarter and those teams won't fuck it up. We need to bring our a game and continue to constantly improve every week. No option for weakness from here on out if we want to see the post season. Don't think that's a refutable statement.

    Allow me...

Doc's assuming those are the ONLY 3 Bears' wins the rest of the season for a 10-6 record. If the Packers lose to the Bears but win their other remaining 5, they finish 12-4 and, ergo, win the division.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

If the Packers can go on the road for the 2nd week in a row and beat Atlanta following an emotional victory in what the Queens and the Cheeseheads refer to as the "Border War", I, for one, will be impressed.

By beating the Dolphins, the Bears have increased their chance of making the playoffs from 67.4% to 76.8%, according to www.makeNFLplayoffs.com.

    {...}

If the Bears go 3-3 , they have a 94.5% chance of making the playoffs. They have a 51.9% chance of making the playoffs if they go 2-4 and a 8% chance at 1-5.

... so beating Philly and GB is a must.
