We're not going to be waiting till the second half happens. Not a single player on the field will mean anything to the 2010 Chicago Bears. Here are my first-half notes:
The Bears have finally brought in a backup quarterback that is capable of winning football games. Todd Collins looked poised and polished at times, finding receivers across the field and checking down when appropriate.
Can someone please explain the appeal of DJ Moore to me? Everything I think he's a complete waste on the defensive side of the ball he does something eveb more wasteful on special teams? What purpose does his making the roster serve? (Joshua Moore, on the other hand, might be able to play some kind of role.)
I don't quite understand the Desmond Clark-to-fullback transition.
I don't know how the Bears are allocating roster slots but Garrett Wolfe can not make this team over Kahlil Bell.
If you're struggling kicking field goals during the preseason, kick more field goals. Don't go for a fourth-and-one in the first quarter and certainly don't throw an out route to Richard Angulo. You've got a shot to work on something that will actually take place in the regular season. Why not work on it? (Nice to see the snap and kick executed at the end of the half.)
Brian Iwuh is pretty impressive at the linebacker. He hits like a freight train and charges the hole like a running back. I'd imagine he's the sixth man right now at the position.
Of all the third-tier players that seem longshots to make the roster, Henry Melton seemed to have the most promise.

Dez will probably still line up at tight end most of the time. Personally, I still think he should be the starter, but why go down that road again?
Dez should always be the main starter on first down. Olsen was used improperly last year. Hopefully Martz knows how to use him this year on the right down and distance.
Who's going to be the starting FS, SS, and nickel back on opening day?
tough to say Cormonster, guess it depends on whether Manning's deal with the devil is still valid and whether Major Pringles is allowed to play
Jeff, solid insight, agreed on all points. DJ gone, Josh stays, Iwuh stays, Melton stays, stupid Rashied stays as well.
This game is totally meaningless and the only thing worth commenting on are individual player performances. In the scheme of things, Bell will never be a starting RB in the NFL. At this point in time I would reluctantly take Wolfe over Bell for special value teams alone. I like Bell but that's like saying you like your neighbors motorcycle knowing what a pointless statement it is since you'll never drive it.
is it safe to say that if you are in the game in the 4th quarter of the last pre-season game that you are in serious danger of not making the team?
Rashied, KD, Angulo, Marcus Harrison, Melton, Wolfe, Iglesias, tons of Oline dudes, etc
0-4 Wooo hooo.
While there MAY be a debate over the importance/value of these practice games, there is NO DOUBT that the preseason records have absolutely no meaning whatsover since the 4th quarter of every game is played mostly by guys who will be bagging groceries or making deliveries for UPS next week. Oh, except if you're Albert Haynesworth and your coach shows his complete disdain for you and your attitude by playing you into the 4th quarter of the 4th pre-season game.
Wow... didn't know Jerry knew what "Press Coverage" meant, let alone use it properly in a sentence.
"we're trying to figure out who we are. What we can do and what we can't do offensively and defensively. Are we going to be able to generate enough with our front four's pass rush or aren't we? Or are we going to have to do more zone-blitzing? Or are we going to have to play more press coverage?"
You sure he wasn't referring to inanely blathering at reporters?
Rapeherburger got his sentence reduced to 4 games, due to no civil or criminal case being filed. So he got a hummer in the john for free from an unwilling coed, and the commish lets him off because he's white and the backup in Pitt doesn't look that good. Hey ho, it's the NFL!
Suh got hit for $7500 for tearing Delhomme's head off. I think Suh spit out one of his gold teeth and said "keep the change".
let the games begin. Sept 12th here we come. Briggsy, Lach and Wright, I order you to get healthy immediately and then lets go out there and piss on the Lions and embarass Stafford.
Only the 4th time in the Bears history that they've gone 0-4 in the preseason. Buckle your seat belts gents, I believe we're in for one heck of a special season.
0-20 anyone?
Let me juxtapose my statement with Corey Grahams! I just don't know either Corey.

I really don't like being negative when it come's to the Bears before the season even starts, I guess I'm just trying to prepare myself for the worst. I can't even begin to hope for the best yet, maybe the Lions game will serve as a springboard in that direction.
Sorry guys, just don't have a positive indication of how things will go yet.
I love this... talk about having unmitigated enthusiasm and belief in the team you
Hey Jerry, let's not underrate it either. The last Bears 0-4 preseason team was the last year of Wanny, and we all know how well that went.
On Hard Knocks, the Jets have three solid fullbacks. They are probably keeping the Terminator and T-Rich. I say we cut Bell and go get one and aggressively look to trade either Olsen or Davis for a guard.
DL - Jarron Gilbert played himself out of a job. Melton had pressure tonight, Gilbert can't beat anybody. Barry Tuner won't make it. Mick Williams is gone.
LB - I know he was a special teams buster, but Shaw is gone. Kelvin Smith is gone. Malast is probably gone in favor of Iwuh.
DB - End of the Alfalfa experiment. Just cannot play. Josh Moore goes to practice squad. Quentin Scott is huge, but gone. Alfalfa did it to himself.
WR - Mathews, Iglasias are gone.
RB - Goodbye Wolfe, however Bell is shit. Slow, makes nobody miss. His only trait is that he hits the hole fast. He better be a ST monster if Wolfe is shown the door.
OL - Edwin Williams gone.
I'm with you on everything GP except Lava. I didn't think he played poorly at all. Showed that he is still a solid tackeler and good in support run D.
I don't know how an injured Steltz beats out this kid. Oh yeah, Jerry loves his higher draft picks. Screw keeping a sixth rounder that started most of last year as a rookie and played well. Let's just shit on that foundation and choose a 3rd rounder who is slow, small, likes to only take out his own teammates and hasn't proven he is NFL caliber.
And how does Josh Bullocks, who has been healthy but not playing much, beat him out too? It's like they think Bullocks is so good that they decided to rest him for the season.
Crown, I don't even know where to begin with this group anymore. Is it the scheme? Is it the players? Is it the coaching?
Whoa, c'mon now.
"Our Scheme is good"-Lovie Smith.
More times than I care to remember.
Pool boy is going to swim with the fishes.
I'm with ya. I think Corey Graham should get the boot, he's done nothing to distinguish himself.
Wooten and Mark Anderson are underperforming as well
C. Graham didn't get much of a shot. I think he is better than Lovie thinks.
Shaw goes nowhere. He was cleaning up miss-tackles last night. He's solid. Better than Hillenmayer in my opinion.
Chicago Bears cut Al Afalava; keep Josh Bullocks....UM holy crap!! Just move proof Angelo is a fucktard when it comes to drafting. Another wasted draft pick. What a dickhole!
Tribune's Brad Biggs reports that Bears inform WR Freddie Barnes he will be let go...NOOOOOO! Not my Freddie!! lol
Bears start cuts with linebackers Tim Shaw and Kevin Malast....I spoke too soon on Shaw. Goddamn it! I liked him.
The Bears have informed UTEP cornerback Cornelius Brown he will be waived.
The Bears have informed Northern Iowa S Quentin Scott he will be waived.
Broncos running back LenDale White tore his Achilles and is out for the season...wow, this turd can't catch a break.
The Broncos are straight fucked at RB this year. All 3 went down then they got Lendale and he rips up the old heel strap. Dumervil out, Cutler in Chicago, Marshall in Miami. What high ranking official in heaven did McDaniels piss off?
Bears have informed CB Woodny Turenne he will be waived. He spent last season on the practice squad but will not return.
Bears have informed center Tim Walter he will be waived.
4th preseason game or not, Colt McCoy going 13 for 13 stinks out loud. The Bear 2s and 3s WILL have to play at SOME point.
And I believe that was our starting O-line against mostly 2s and 3s on the Brown's D.
lovie's press conference is on the game feed right now.
It may be me but Lovie is not enjoying his job anymore. He just looks like he's struggling to maintain.

I don't think we should consider Olsen, Clark, Davis and Manu as four tight ends. Olsen will spend most of his time out wide. Clark is now moving into the backfield.
My guess is that they only keep 5 WR's and keep the 4 TE's. Do they keep a FB? I think Eddie Williams is the only one left on the roster.
And gee fella's I heard a swell statement last night. I heard that Martz said Greg Olsen is the most amazing athlete he's ever seen play the tight end position. Wow, I can finally sleep at night knowing everything's gonna be alright.
His schtick is getting old.
Stop giving everyone verbal blowjobs and win some games bitch. The time is finally here.
Here
What is the point of having 4 tight ends? Somebody plz answer.

the NFL is a career and this is one big fraternity of rich dudes that all know each other and teammates of friends and cousins, etc...and it's their job so of course they don't hate each other.
Todd Collins - #2
DJ Moore
Reading this article, these words came to mind. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
I give Dez a great deal of credit for finishing up his career willing to go back to FB (or H-back or whatever they call it) and take lead block punishment. What a fucking soldier that guy is.
It's time to start scouring the Patriot's, Raven's, Saint's and Jet's possible cut sheets.
Patriots are dinged up like crazy. Ravens hurting a bit too. They're likely be doing some cut sheet "scouring" of their own.
Wait a minute...I think Colt McCoy just completed another pass.
I already grabbed a couple of Saints for my fantasy team.
Picking 8th in an 8 team lead so I had back to back picks all the time.
Picks 3&4: Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush.
BTW, in our league Cutler, Gould, Forte and Taylor were all selected.
And no, none of them were picked by me.
