Schedule To Be Announced Tuesday April 20th

For some of us, the announcement of the NFL schedule is something like an adult version of Christmas morning.  We start making travel plans, coordinate road trips and dissect each stretch of games to evaluate our team's chances of making a run into the postseason.  The NFL will announce the entire slate of 2010 games on Tuesday evening, April 20th and Bears fans should pay attention.  Why?  Because their schedule is loaded with intrigue.

Some possibilities...
1. The Bears host the New York Jets in a game the league will certainly be aiming to show in primetime and - in my opinion - early in the season.
2. The rumors are swirling that the Bears will be the Cowboys' opponent on Thanksgiving afternoon.
3. Rumors are also rampant that the Bears will meet the Buffalo Bills in Toronto, setting up an opportunity for the league's best fans to invade the country to the north.
4. If the Vikings lose the Williams sisters for the first four games, those first four games might be the most important the team plays all season long.  The NFC North doesn't have a gimme on their schedule this year.
5. The Bears most high-profile game of the year may have become their home contest with the Washington Redskins, with hometown boy Donovan McNabb at quarterback and Jay Cutler's former head coach Mike Shanahan in charge of things.
6. Want more high-profile games?  Bears host Eagles, at Giants and Julius Peppers returns to Carolina.
Maybe it's just me but that's enough to get me very excited for Tuesday night.

  • Let's just get it on already!

  • Oh and give me my game against the Pack in December at Soldier! Who's in?

  • Could be as exciting as drinking a glass of razor blades. I can't wait to see the brutal schedule. In a normal year I would say bring it on, give me your best teams in the league to play but something tells me to be careful what you wish for this year.

  • Just before I hit the sack and dream about commanding starships of Amazonian nymphomaniacs on acid and playing MLB for you know who, just a final heartfelt F**k You to Jerry Angelo. I'll support my boys next year in spite of the dish rags that oversee them, expecting absolutely nothing good to happen (save for trouncing the Queens AND fudgers). So bring on the schedule from hell cos it won't make any difference - we don't and won't have a playoff squad thanks to Satan himself. Angelo's head is so far up his ass he needs a glass stomach to see where he's going ...

... ok maybe just a little Daisy Marie or Monique before snoozies

... seriously though, anyone got Angelo's home address ?

Are you reading this Jerry ? You made me mad Mr McGee... and you wouldn't like me when I'm mad ...

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Hey Irish: I assume you wont be inviting Angelo to Christmas dinner then, ha,ha! Remember the movie Christmas Vacation? Where Eddie brought Clark's boss to him tied up, with a bow on his head, ha,ha. Maybe someone can bring you Angelo all tied up in a red ribbon, ha,ha. Then you can tell him what a floor flushing, loser, selfish, wannabe GM piece of shiht that he really is!!

  • In reply to ForeverBears:

He'd be the main course - head on a platter - 'V' style.

There you have it BF, he's a *wannabe* GM. Nail on the head. He is a GM in name only - the only thing he's managing is the total destruction of my beautiful Bears. Baby Jebus better have a dynasty in store for us man. Angelo and Phillips have led us into the desert, but it's time go back to the garden of Eden. So go now, go to your windows and scream it loud "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this any more. Marshall was a marriage made in heaven for us. There's no one left now. There was Edwards (so so), Boldin and Marshall. They would have signed T.o by now if they were going to sign a vet receiver. I love Devin, but as our most senior receiver ? Are the Packers or Vikes paying this guy ? Seriously ?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Hey trac, I just realized something...

    YOU are Keyser S

  • In reply to MB30SD:

"Who is Keyser Soze? He is supposed to be Turkish. Some say his father was German. Nobody believed he was real. Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever worked directly for him, but to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have worked for Soze. You never knew. That was his power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, poof. He's gone."

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    lol this guy

  • In reply to MB30SD:

You know Trac, maybe it is a good thing we didn't get Marshall. Seriously before I get blowed up here. If Marshall would have got into trouble just one more time then he would be supsended indefinitely. I don't about having a player with that much going against him would be good to have on the team.

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

Fair point, do you guys want to go back to talking about not getting Boldin then?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

MB...with you too! I would of loved Boldin!!!

  • In reply to nicholsra:

    I'd love him now!

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    He's like a mini-BM ...

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Doc and Lobo,

I just remember staring in disbelief at that monster late in the season against the Queens, reach out and snap that ball out of the air half-one handed, then did some funky step back and around two defenders in one motion, and into the endzone as the two defenders fell all over each other.

Watch the whole thing, but if you want to see the catch that

  • In reply to MB30SD:

MB..I loved the YAC's ...he just seems to run angry after he has the ball. We had to HOFer's who played like that for us #1 Sweetness and then #2 Da Coach both pushed the piles forward after they got hit. Damn you just don't realize how great they were until after we no longer have it.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

So that is what a #1 WR looks like.

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

Amen Bears 85, I agree. It is a Big risk, for whats at stake in the deal. Hopefully Marshall can learn to stay out of trouble, but I doubt it. I hope he proves me wrong.

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

Irish: I know you are a big Marshall fan? But maybe it is for the best, you never know. Sorry it didnt work out how you wanted it to. Maybe it just wasnt meant to be. Just sayin. Angelo just needs to find a few friends, who will help pull his head out of his Asss, ha,ha!! But dont count on it! He seems to like it in there, ha,ha.

  • In reply to ForeverBears:

The NFL is full of spoilt, arrogant, violent, selfish criminal types BF - just didn't see Marshall as that type of guy. He had a domestic with his fiance ? Part and parcel of life. We've got wife-batterers and rapists in the NFL. Worthlessberger just got off scot free because they wiped his DVD and threw the girl a few dollars to shut up. Remember Leon Taylor in Playmakers when his bitch wife fell over and he ends up pleading guilty to assault ?
We can't refuse to sign maybe the best receiver in the NFL because he *might* do something in the future. The guy just got married and became guardian to his cousin. Chicago and Jay Cutler would have been home sweet home. It's a huge shame, that's all. Angelo thinks he's going to get production like that out of our crop of WRS ? He's dreaming on a crack pipe. He can't draft worth a damn and any receiver drafted will be a project. Marshall was wrapped up in a pretty little bow for us and he couldn't pull the trigger. Look back over Angelo's second round picks and cry ...

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

With our tough schedule this year, at least people cant say we won because we had an easy schedule! BEAR DOWN!! GO BEARS!!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Irish.. you keep telling it how it is.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Well, It appears Marshall is off the table. Though I am surprised Miami gave up 2-2nd rd picks for him. Denver came out good, since Marshall was in the last year of his contract. Marshall came out real good at 12 mil a year over 4 years for 47.5 mil. I wish Marshall luck, hopefully he can stay out of trouble, he has a new start, we shall see. He better not be hitting on women anymore, like he did with an ex-girlfriend of his. That is one thing I cannot stand, is a guy that hits women! So that better stay in the past. I hope he can move on and finish his career with Respect and honor.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

That would make me a skitzo on the Olsen issue alone.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Naw, just a blog owner trying to keep things interesting.

Hey, I had to throw it out there.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    MB.... your conspiracy theory?

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Just following trac's logic to the logical end Lobo. He is... Keyser Soze.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

The Bears are really using some serious smoke screen.. Come on you don't say you have a problem and then say you don't. The first step is admiting you have a problem and that you need to fix it. Not it's fine now. BULLSHIT. Lovie, Jerry, and Ted, You best be throwing teams off or something because, ahem, You have a saftey problem.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Speaking of Christmas Vacation. That was a funny movie. Eddie was funny as a raunchy loser type. Remember when that yuppie couple came out of their house and saw eddie pumping the waste from his R.V in the sewer? Eddie is drinking a beer in his robe, and he says to the yuppie "Shitters Full" and tips his beer at them, Hilarious. Yeah I know this has nothing to do with the blog, but I thought I would lighten it up a bit. Just sayin. BEAR DOWN!!

Seems like a gaffe from the NFL Publicity folks to release the schedule the same week as the draft.

  • In reply to RogerMinton:

cant wait for the schedule. Hope to god that Da Bears play on thanksgiving. Im already in argument with a bunch of Cowboy fans, so fuck man the Bears better win..cause im the only real Bear fan in Fresno surrounded by Cowboy 49er and Raider Fans....

It's tempting but totally unprofessional. I don't think Jeff would be down anyways. Plus in a few months, Jeff will be probably sitting down with the man himself at the pace he's going. get'em Jeff, score that interview buddy!

  • In reply to Joseph:

What do you sell joe? Ass kickings?

  • In reply to Joseph:

No way Angelo agrees to an interview with a Blog. That's why he's got Mayer. I love the way Mayer answers the question in his own question e.g. in relation to Peppers, the question was not "Has signing Chili blitzed the rest of our free agent acquisitions that we now can't sign?", it was "How much did Alex Brown's release have to do with the promising young players coming up behind him?" WTF ? You just answered the question Larry !

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    Now you have it, MB.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    Thats: I just found it.

  • In reply to Joseph:

Maybe thats a bad idea, never underestimate the passion of a Chicago Bears fan. Last thing I want is the emailer gets traced back to the blog. I would never jeperdize that.

  • In reply to Joseph:

    Well done Joe.

    1. Where did you find them? Are you sure they

  • In reply to MB30SD:

What I've been thinking about for a while (but I haven't got the time) is to put together a list of ALL Angelo's gaffes and put them up on a website e.g www.theincompetenceofjerryangelo.com I'd be willing to bet it's a looong list. Once people become aware of exactly and precisely *how* he has tried to strangle the Bears, and once there's a website in existence - it will be picked up on by the general media. Failing that (a lot of organization for one person, plus cost of server space), yes, a blog from Jeff listing ALL gaffes would appear as a link on the Trib. Here's where it gets tricky. With Jeff's recent diversion into the interview game, it wouldn't be long before a gag was put on the players talking to DBB. Then Jeff is in Larry Mayer country ...

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Who wants Jerry Angelo's Email Address?? I just have it! All the personel for that matter. Who's got the balls to send him an email?

  • In reply to Joseph:

The time for talking has passed, Joseph. The charge : Grievous Bodily Harm to the Chicago Bears Franchise. Judgement has been passed ... and the verdict is death.

  • In reply to JohnGalt:

JA and Lovie just aren't right in the head.

    This one's for you Irish.

Bears...or can we at least sign his hands so he can strangle Tommie Harris please?

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/04/15/mike-mayock-is-a-wanted-man/

  • In reply to JohnGalt:

Parcells is quietly building a damn good team in Miami. Who wants to bet they win their conference before the Bears do(no insult intended).

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

I feel the same way about the Jets Trac. Holy criminy, they are going to be a fucking powerhouse for years to come with all the ballsy moves they're making.

Say what you want about Buddy's chubby little boy, but he's got brains and nuts the size of watermelons. Good for him.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

The Jets are doing it right.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

I have to agree Trac, the Jets have had a great offseason. They were already very good last year. It should be interesting. The Dolphins are getting it together as well, the Big Tuna got his Receiver.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Cement shoes.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

We need to rent a billboard outside Halas Hall. Like that milk commercial(got milk). But we can say, Hey Jerry,"Got Safety"? Right there for Angelo to see everyday, ha,ha.

  • In reply to ForeverBears:

A list of all his failures would be far more debilitating ...
... and for anyone about to mention Cutler, is there an oxygen-deprived remedial in the world who couldn't have made that deal ? And anyway, Angelo didn't get Cutler - Kyle Orton did. Absolutely no credit needs to go to Angelo for that. It's like congratulating someone on picking the correct lotto numbers like they were some kind of genius.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Miami has all the parts of a great offense now : great line, great QB, great run game and now BM. But the jets have that D ... exciting division.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Ah, merci beaucoup, Monsieur Trac. Et quelle beau coup ! Non ? Je veux mettre mon tete entre son jambes et "Blub, blub, blub" encore et encore. Formidable ! Merci Merci.

  • We will definitely have a brutal schedule this year. I am glad we re signed Pisa, that gives us one of the best L.B corps, IF they can stay healthy. But comments from Angeloser that our weak safety position is fine, has me squirming in disbelief, I hope he is Lying again. It is hard to have faith in this idiot, who doesnt even get compensation for players they want to trade, he just gives them away. Most people with common sense after investing so much in Peppers, would fill the other hole at Safety to bring the defense together. Hell, it is even an uncapped year, a gift to the Bears, who are hardly hurting for money. Do you want to be just close, or do you want to be complete, it is not rocket science?? A F-safety, Guard/center & Cornerback would put us in great position, if we stay relatively healthy, so why stop now?? Didnt these Fools say "They are in it to win it"? Lets win it then, Damn it!!

  • In reply to ForeverBears:

We know they won't stay healthy, especially not Pisa .. Dusty Dvoracek II. And if there's so much money floating around how come we didn't sign Jamar Williams, BM, TO, Sharper or anyone else. I'm pretty sure they did their budget in, kept a few shekels to sign the losers they'll draft, but that's it in free agency ? We're failing to prepare again. No way in hell do our receivers come out in week one ready to play ball (except for Shabba). They'll have suddenly learned how to run route correctly ? They'll have that playbook down inside and out ? Not a prayer. CW will be a lock on the left side but the middle of that line looks atrocious.

By the way, I'm off for a troll on the Denver sites. They have to be pissed. Cutler and now Marshall. How much of a retard is Josh McDaniels?

  • Funny Murph, Crazy cousin Eddie!

  • Angelo says we'll stand pat on wide receivers...we're good...and he feels comfortable with the free saftey situation as well... Can we vote on that...just askin'.

    .

  • In reply to RogerMinton:

Madd...yeah we all can vote... lets' all vote that JA is an assmunch..start with a yes. from me!!

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Are we doing a poll again? Irish?

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Looks like I just polled again ...

  • In reply to RogerMinton:

this maybe what the war room(Draft Day) will be like for the Bears management when they all realize JA(Bing Crosby) & LDL (Danny F'ing Kaye) really are.

  • I don't know anything about 'you guys', but I'm gonna fucking be there! Common Doc, this is a life decision.

I'll give you an easy out, while allowing you to say I'll think about it. I'm not going if we're shit. I'll only make the trip to see us kick some ass on our way to the playoffs. So there you are, unless we somehow turn out to be good and are a lock for the playoffs, you have an easy, 'I'm not going either now'.

something your son can tell his kids about.

  • I know, but here's more to cry about. Damn maaaaannnnn!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2OmPaMjJio&feature=related

  • I'm with you Doc. 2009 was a brutal year, probably for all of us.

Let's see how it all breaks down, in the meantime I'll lay off the cry for war.

  • whoa...step away from the arsenic laced kook aid boys. I read that Larry Meyer "interview" with Angelo and it is plain to see that JA's answer to the safety questions was PC bullshit. What the hell was he supposed to say to that softball pussy ass question that Mayer lobbed to him?
Have no doubt that the Bears will upgrade at safety. Read every line of that stupid article and he plainly says in Jerry speak that we are looking at safeties.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Hope you're right Waffle. Sincerely. I probably want too much with another big bodied receiver, but perfection is the goal, right ? If they did get a good FS and a guard then (injuries permitting) we could be okay. Letting Jamar Williams go is not permissible though. They're probably going to keep Shaw, can't we take 7 LBs ? I guess not. Another tragedy and sucky move re-signing Pisa ...

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Johnny, I hope you are right, and I surely want to believe it. But Angelos track record says differently. Like giving up players for no compensation, on his latest misadventure. I just hope he is not thinking that now he has Peppers, he will make our safeties better. So maybe we can save and make do with what we have, rather than continuing to strengthen the defensive weaknesses. I hope I am wrong and he surprises us by making the right moves. Angelo is frustrating. He will make a huge move like getting Peppers & Cutler, but then he turns right around & makes several terrible decisions to back it up. One step forward, two steps back. But I will continue to be a Bear fan, till death do us part!! BEAR DOWN! GO BEARS!

Im interested in these "cement shoes" you are referencing. I think they may be able to become a consistent part of my training regimine..

At this point I am using ankle weights, but cement shoes seem far less cumbersome and significantly more cost effective.

In addition, I am told they are particularly good for water related training.

If you can please provide me with your mailing address, I will send you a blank, signed check.

    Thanks.

  • Hard to believe we got to the superbowl with Wrecks. If only we could have slotted in Cutler, MB & Harris, we might have blown them out. And if my aunty had balls she's be my uncle ...

  • Me too. I ended up with Jessica Alba, what about you Doc ?

  • At least JC is staying out of trouble. Or, at least, the tramps aren't giving him up, ala Tiger, Jesse, Big Ben, etc.

  • Sorry Murph, I have never been a fan of potential. I'll take a pinky full of accomplishments over an ass load of potential. I never heard anyone talking about Payton's potential when I was growing up. I still remember Johnny Morris filming Walter every year running up and down the bleacher stairs and sprinting up mount mother fucker getting ready for the season. That image in my mind helped me to suck it up in HS football two a days and helped me graduate Marine Corp. bootcamp at the top of my class. Meritorious Promotion Baby. If I went to bootcamp today, Cutler's potential would only get me a kick in the ass. Sorry, but that's what I think about potential.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    +1

Everyone on this planet has massive potential. At some point they just give up or believe that they're useless because someone tells them they're useless. Einstein failed maths in school and became a third class patent clerk. We're all born with the same size brains (unless you're a woman - not sexist - a medical fact, that's all). Saying someone has potential is like saying they have eyes and ears. He just needs to check down or throw it away more, that's all.

  • It takes more than a QB to win games...

From what I saw of Cutler last year, I'm thrilled we have the guy. Granted, I block out red zone INTS like 250 lb. slump-busters... I think he can win games.

Then again, the eternal Cutler optimist could always be wrong.

    Jay,

    Thanks for not being Rex.

    XOXO

    Willie

  • In reply to JohnGalt:

Hey Willie, I am not ashamed to say I agree with your confidence in Cutler. I think he has Enormous potential, if we can build around him. Just a hint, but how about a L-Guard, that would be a good start!

  • In reply to JohnGalt:

Cutler has every throw in the book. We all know the growing pains QBs go through. Troy Aikman sucked. Vinny Testaverde used to be the biggest joke in the league for me. Hell, even Jimmy Mac used to get roasted for his tendency to throw the ball to the other team. I see a lot of Jimbo in Cutler - the willingness to run without sliding, to fight for the extra yards, to squeeze a ball in there that maybe should be thrown away. All he needs to do is throw the ball away a lot more, or tuck and run into space. He has all the tools God gives out to QBs - he just needs to learn diligence in not using them sometimes. People who think he's not a good QB don't know what they're looking at - it's the acid test on internet posters for me. All of the bile that's up there "Cutler Sucks! Ha Ha !" is just verbal cack. Brett Favre will be talked about for the HOF. That dude doesn't get near my team. He had a worse year for the Jets and he was a grizzled veteran ! Not a word said of course, hey - it's Brett Favre. Ditto when Peyton Manning threw six picks in a game. Not a word said and no one saying he sucked. Well. I'm saying it - he sucked.

Cutler knew he had to force it last year, you could see it in his body language walking off the field after another pick.

"My smurf receivers suck at running routes and they don't know the playbook. We have no running game. Our defense sucks - what the hell am I supposed to do ? I *have* to force it in there if we're going to win a damn game."

It was his winning mentality that got him in trouble - the refusal to lose.

Remember the 5-pick Niners game ? If he hits (Olsen I think it was) in the endzone on his final drive, we win the game and he's MVP and everybody is talking about the comeback on NFL Network. A game of inches and fickle observers. What - he's not a pro bowl caliber QB anymore ? He overachieved in his third year ? BS ! He'll be way better than Favre or Manning. How many QBs in the NFL can do what he did to the Vikings last year with only one receiver?

BTW - it burned looking at the new training camp photos on CB.COM. Rashied Davis makes Hester look tall. Stop the insanity and give T.O a job - there's no one left. good news ? Marcus Harrison looks BIG and STRONG ...

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

I thought I saw Arooosh at the beginning, but didn't see him running routes. Inglesias looks smaller than I thought. Good to see Urlacher at the offseason workouts. I hope he learned something after opening his bitch ass drama queen mouth about Cutler. If you're injured, shut your piehole and get healthy, period. I hope he feels he has something to prove.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

I hope Harrison shows up in shape this year. He had the job handed to him last year. Adams played way better last year and took it away from him. Gotta agree about Cutler. Not sure he'll be better than Favre and Manning but if we field decent teams for the next ten years (after a regime change). Once Williams went to the left side and Schaeffer went in on the right, our O looked way better and Cutler's swagger was back.

You can't underestimate the mindset for a QB. At some point last year, you could tell he was shell shocked and stunned by our pathetic O. Once Pace was pulled, everything changed. Nothing against Pace but he's out of gas.

I don't hate Rashied but I'm shocked every year when he makes the final cut.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

  • It's true Doc. Payton was the one that inspired me to give it my all. That's what made me fall in love with football. The reward of accomplishing more than you thought you ever could because you never gave up and more than that, seeing that same spirit he had working in your own life. It started with him Doc, that why I loved the man.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Hey Trac, I share your appreciation of Payton, he was my all time favorite. In all my years, there have been several Bears that have stood out. Mr. Dick Butkis, Mr. Gayle Sayers, Mike Singletary, Richard Dent, Sid Luckman & many more in my lifetime. There have been some Great Bears players pass through Chicago with Honor!! We Proudly lead the NFL with the most H.O.F Players, Yeah!! I will always support Da Bears,no matter what, Always!! BEAR DOWN!!

"If I were the commissioner, I would probably give him a suspension of two games, maybe four. You've got to send a message to the rest of the league."

That last line is classic. And the message is "If you rape someone you'll be suspended FOR TWO WHOLE GAMES !!! Jebus H. Zeist.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Doc - I'm dying to know - who was your top girl in the Ladies Olympics of matchups?

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

True story. I'm riding my bicycle along the path downtown. A totally drunk street guy steps out of the bush right in front of me. As I'm preparing to be launched off the bike (had no time to brake) I remembered Walter saying, "As long as I deliver the blow, I feel I won't get hurt." I lowered my head and launched myself leading with the crown of my helmet. I buried it in his drunken chest. Just flattened the drunk fucker and it slammed me back onto my seat. I didn't even go down. The drunk got up on all fours and collapsed again. I tried to see if he was OK but his drunken buddy was keeping a watch over him. I realized this was a lawsuit waiting to happen and left the drunks to their own devices. Gotta love Walter!

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Brilliant story! I love it. A natural reaction might be to avoid the collision, but that would probably have left you in a sad state of affairs. Why should you risk injury because some guy got totally over-served? Ride the wave. BOOM! I love it. Walter's spirit to the rescue.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Had no time to maneuver. From the time he stepped out of the bush to the time I hit him was a second or two. I'm pretty sure he looked a little closer then next time he came out of the bush onto the path.

The Dolphins are reportedly "smitten" with Florida S Major Wright.

Defensive coordinator Mike Nolan was impressed after working Wright out and breaking down film with him on a Gainesville trip. The Dolphins don't have a second-round pick, so Wright would have to slip to No. 73 overall to address the free safety vacancy.

  • In reply to Joseph:

Shit, I bet Parcells picks him up.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Nearly lost my lunch when Urlacher came out with that slur on Cutler. After years of Ortman you'd think he'd be happy to have a gunslinger with talent. Then again he was probably pissed off he wasn't the face of the franchise anymore.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

I've said it before and I will refer back to the Arkush brother's articles in PFW on this subject:

Urlacher is a cancer in the clubhouse.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Gotta agree with Irish. I think cancer may be too harsh a term for #54. No doubt he's a dumbass who doesn't share the limelight willingly. Hopefully he grows up a little. Nothing like sitting on your ass for 15.5 games to give you a new perspective. If he's still popping off about Cutler this year, I'd agree with the Big C comment.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I don't think him or Cutler have any problems. They once wore each others jersey to prove that.

  • In reply to gpldan:

54 is still a drama queen for publicly bitching about Cutler during the season with his limp ass wrists.

I'm convinced he ran amok in the Arizona miracle just to show Wrecks that they could win regardless of his 6 turnovers. I'm looking forward to Brian this year. Shop HH and sign Jamar Jerry ... or the Clown car goes BOOM!

  • In reply to Dmband:

I hope you're right DMB. I hope he was a major factor in our D playing poorly last year. From my perspective, the jury is still out on him. I pray he's not washed up.

  • In reply to crowntheirass:

I'll take a washed up Urlacher any day of the week over the embarrassing impostor we had at MLB last season. That weakling gave up about 30lbs in the center of our defense and had one good game out of 16. I'd call that a complete failure. We need a guy who can step in and do the job. HH isn't it, and if we eject a Linebacker due to roster constraints, then airlock HH not JW ...

  • In reply to Dmband:

This past week or so has been very boring football wise. The lull before the draft. It seems like very little will happen until after the draft. I wonder what our first pick will be, position wise?

My inclination would be to draft the best guard on the table to shore up the offense. I think we would see a better outcome doing that than signing a FS. We could still address FS through FA and if we were to draft one in the 3rd round I don't think he would make much of an impact this year unless a very good player is still available.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

I say we pick up a GM in Round 3...

As well, taking any coach available in the fifth round would DEFINITELY be an upgrade.

  • In reply to JohnGalt:

Any other year but this one.

  • In reply to JohnGalt:

I was reading an article where Bears receivers talked about the new Offense. They were saying there are so many protections, plays & personnel changes that it will create alot of mismatches & confusion on defenses! Yeah! What a change from the old same thing "Turner". Canning Ron Turner was one of my favorite offseason moves, then replacing him with Martz, who is the complete opposite, ha,ha!! All the players seem to be saying Martz is an offensive Genius, which I welcome with open arms. A player said any position player has to be excited about Martz's new system!! How about 30+ points a game, that sounds good & possible to me!!

  • In reply to ForeverBears:

Chug it down BF, chug it down my friend. Martz' new playbook with all its new wonderful plays, all twelve million of them, new protections, and new names for the same plays spells one thing ... confusion for our offense - specifically you know who. Iglesias, Hester, Bennett and Knox. Shabba doesn't bother me one bit, he's a pro, he's bigger, he'll work it out. But cast your mind back to the aforementioned receiver's problems with Turner's playbook. Our receivers might be quick but they're certainly not quick-witted. Iglesias didn't see the field for that exact reason last year. He's not a bottle of red wine - he doesn't get better with age - he just couldn't get it. Ditto the smurfs. That's even worse news for this year. It's all very well Martz being a genius, but his receivers have to be able to execute and match that, and I have no confidence in their ability to do so based on their previous shennanigans. I see more blown routes and interceptions. It's back to school for the boys, but they'll be skipping up a grade and that's not good news for them.

I've been screaming for at least one professional NFL standard #1 receiver since forever, but the 'Experts' that run the Bears know better. They like what they see. They'll suddenly learn how to run routes without breaking them off, they'll suddenly become better at remembering plays, they'll remember that they're blockers too, they'll get an extra few inches and a spring in their jump balls ... yeah, we're good. We don't need to pay the league minimum for T.O., or give up two 2nd rd picks Angelo would have flushed into the ocean anyway. We're set. We like our receivers. Where's the eject button?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

I'm glad Turner's gone too BF. He was an idiot. But food for thought here.

Ron Turner ran the Sid Gillman/Don Coryell offense.
Mike Martz runs ... ? The Sid Gillman/Don Coryell offense.

    Go figure.

  • In reply to JohnGalt:

At this stage, Cutler has to be pissed that nothing has been done to shore up his protection. At times, it was a fucking jailbreak at the line. He's lucky he got out of last season with his skin, by the end he was wearing a flak jacket and was really sore. He took a beating.

And here he is, all this money spent on Peppers, and talk of a FS in the draft, and he isn't bitching in the papers. I have to hand it to him for that. Because he's gotta be wondering if he's going to have to keep slinging it off his back foot this year.

  • In reply to gpldan:

but ppl whine a/b him being a "primadonna." smh...crazy huh?

Any advances on 'Worst receiver in the NFL ?ou had to have this guy on your fantasy squad to know exactly how little he contributes. Chad Henne is a damn good QB. Chad Pennington was the most accurate QB in the NFL.

Humph. 'Hawks lay an opening game egg.

White Sox lose to CLEVELAND for the 3rd time in 4 games.

CRAP on a CRACKER! Wake up, already!

Regarding the Williams "brothers", Blogfather, is there STILL a chance the NFL will be able to exact the 4 game worth of justice those 2 fat Cheatosauraus' so richly deserve?

  • In reply to Darrek:

Don't sweat the small stuff Albert. We still have the Bears.

  • In reply to Darrek:

The more I look at these safeties the more I think we shouldn't draft a safety this year. We're not going to get Eric Berry so what's the point? Angelo trades down, never up. And we should not be drafting a FS!

Everyone : It's our most pressing need Irish you crazy bastard! Explain!

We need a guy who's going to be the starter for the next X years. Major Wright? Can't tackle by all accounts. Pick any of the tweeners likely to be available at 75. They all have drawbacks. Too small, too whatever. "Ooh ooh! draft Ansah he can play corner AND safety!" Since when does being able to play two positions make you good at one of them? Who plays corner AND safety in the NFL? Answers on a postcard please.

You don't get your starting safety - the cornerstone of your defensive backfield - in the third/fourth rounds, not if your GM is F*cktard Angelo. He's had how many years to get us a safety, and a left tackle and a receiver that was worth a damn? We will have maybe the best front seven in football this season. A guard is of more pressing importance - Omiyale was a human turnstiles last year, Cutler had no time and we had no run game, ergo we have to draft a LG third round. *Have* to. There is no choice. There is no other consideration. The "best player available" does not apply here. Go ask Lobo. We don't have anybody who can get us a second round pick (except Jamar Williams and he's not going anywhere Jerry!). Alex Brown walked for free. No one wants Olsen because he's a big girl. If they shop Jamar Williams Angelo deserves to be summarily executed. We need the best safety in the draft - and that can't happen this year. It can next year, we still have that first round pick we should have used on Brandon Marshall.

We need to replace Mike Brown (hell, let's replace him with Mike Brown!) Pay Sharper, pay Mike Brown, get a fill-in veteran for a year or two instead of drafting a second/third/fourth tier safety. If we draft a safety we need to hit bigtime. Jerry Angelo has drafted poorly in the high rounds and they're the only ones that count. He has ruined us. Look at that Broncos draft in 2006:

    Jay Cutler

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Totally disagree with you Irish regarding finding top quality safety talent in the later rounds. Pro bowl safety Chris Hope was a late 3rd rounder (94th pick), Adrian Wilson was a 3rd rounder (64th pick), Antoine Bethea and Yeremiah Bell were a 6th round pick, and Quintin Mikell was undrafted. There's more hope in that the upcoming draft is loaded with quality safeties. Watch Major Wright be better than Eric Berry. It's gonna happen.

  • In reply to crowntheirass:

Very good point Crown. You never know for sure what you will get, once these kids are at the Pro Level. It is like a box of chocolates, ha,ha. Tom Brady was a 6th rd pick, wasnt he?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    Good thoughts Irish. My $.02:

    * Agree with all the draft stuff... we need to take ALL 0-line in the draft this year. The whole, "position doesn't matter, we'll take the best player available at the spot

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I'd like to see us do that MB, just draft a bunch of linemen and let them scrap it out at camp, let's see what they've got.

On Olsen - I have him at 6'5, no ? Scheffler is identical in size. Anyway, Kellen Davis is 6'7 and that's who I'd like to see out there with Manu coming in for the hard yards (can't wait to see him in a Bear's jersey). So it wouldn't be like be'd be losing any height advantage if we trade Olsen. Plus, his YAC is never going to increase if you're afraid of contact - he is definitely not in the Walter mold there - no dropping the shoulder and burying guys .. it's all "OK you tagged me" and then fall over. Martz doesn't use double TE sets the way Turner did, so the TE on the field will need to be able to block. And I think everyone knows that's not his forte (no pun intended!) Got to be thinking Belichek is looking at Olsen, he hasn't done anything in FA, and he's got 3 2nd rounders. Any spare guards Bill ?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Sorry Irish, the 6'6" was a typo... you're spot on lad.

Yeah, scheffler is exactly the same height and Davis is taller, but neither of those guys come close to the 4.5 40 speed. 4.5?!?!?! For a guy that big. Frightening... you'd think he wouldn't be a vagina. Oh well.

  • In reply to gpldan:

GPL - I couldn't find Turner's car - I only had 7 hours in the country before 24th Infantry snuck me out again. Sorry.

And Cutler makes what, $24 million this year ? I think he's sweet.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Based on previous drafts, I'd say we'll draft a kicker. Why?

    1. We don't need one.
    2. We need that guard on Offense.
    3. We need a FS on defense.
    4. We're good for kickers.
    5. He was the highest player on Angelo's draft board and you've got to go with the best player available.

So it's the obvious choice as it addresses neither offense nor defense.

    4th round = Punter
    5th round = Defensive tackle
    6th round = A Div III hybrid CB/FS, 5'8 175lbs.
7th round = donated to charity. The Bears Care.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

The Steelers have no balls to get rid of him like Jay got out of Denver. First off, They have won two superbowls with him, Second, he has put up good numbers every years, and Third, he hasn't been charged yet with anything. If they do.. they will get the first pick of the draft and get Bradford.

  • the 11-35 figure is skewed b/c he was at Vandy (that's murder in the SEC bro). hell i doubt they've EVER won the conference title, let alone a string of winning seasons. he'll be aight

  • In reply to FQD1911:

FDQ, I share your confidence. I think Cutler will be just fine as well, and will have a great season.

  • It is obviously my opinion, but I am not worried about Cutler. In fact with the coaching changes & everyone having a year under their belt. I feel our offense will be a big surprise to many this year. Cutler is still young & learning & will only get better. I have seen enough of him to realize if we put him in the right situation, he is going to Dominate!! Lets get him a dominant Guard on his l-side. Lets get a young Center to groom this season. How about a cornerback. As far as F-Safety goes, a veteran F-Safety would be just fine with me!! Come on Jerry, "Lets Get er Done"!!

  • Hey Doc, you are so right. There really is NO Comparison to Payton, not in my eyes anyway! Special people like Walter, dont come around too often, it seems! God Bless Payton, I will Never forget him, even if I get Alzheimers!!

  • I hear you Murph. But With a year now with these rookies, and a real O-Coordinator in Martz and a real O-Line coach in Tice, it should make a big difference. If we can get a good guard, I can see our offense busting out next year, really! We will surprise alot of people..

  • In reply to MB30SD:

He said he has to 'work on his image' ...

  • What's that ?

  • Fat Ben Rapethisburger to be shopped. The BiQueens are an organization that has no morals right ? They even had a scumbag for a coach who was who we thought he was, right ? Imagine they signed Worthlessberger ? Favre's had it, and if we play the old fart in week one it could be his last game. Harrison is looking impressive, Tommie is back (I hope) and Chili murdered him last year for the Panthers. I think the Bears knocked him down ten times in the last game. Rapey Raperson in our division ?

  • No smart comments MB, I've got two more years before my life begins ...

  • Oh wait ... Al Davis. Could the Raiders and the Steelers do a fat-quarterback-swap ? Keeps that loser out of our conference anyway.

  • +500. Back at ya Doc. Beyond Hot!

  • I can't read tributes to Payton and not post my two cents. Payton was DA BOMB!!! I couldn't miss a game. Even drove out to bars in the hinterland (Joliet) to see games on TV when there was blackouts due to no soldier field sellout. Ater the 1986 Super Bowl I moved to the Bay Area so I could drive up to Tahoe, see the game (no web or DirecTV back then) and bet on the Bears to make $$$, (they seldom covered with Jimmy Mac always hurt). But I still live her and still LOVE Walter. I love the way he used to reach the ball out for the extra 1/2 yard at the end of EVERY run!

  • "Friday, the Seahawks brought aboard wide receivers Mike Williams and Reggie Williams, both former first-round draft picks by other teams who then flopped out of the league. The big wide receivers signed free-agent contracts less than 24 hours after they finished three-day tryouts in Carroll

Spoke with Jim Miller on the network today. He seems to think like me that the Bears can find a bruiser guard in the third round that could start on the right side for the Bears. Mills also seemed to think than Manning could pan out at FS if they keep him there and don't make him jump from position to position. Mills likes the Bears chances this year.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

The Manning ship has sailed Trac. The guy just plain sucks at life. I would cut him and buy myself a Lamborghini and 10 hookers and call it a day. Lovie should be fired just for keeping Manning on the roster this long.

Ha,ha I wouldnt say we are set at receiver. But I see T.O as a mistake. His days are behind him and it showed last year. I read where players admitted he isnt the same and has dropped off considerably. If you want to bring in a old receiver in his mid 30's that is at the end of their career, you might as well get Holt then. At least he wont be a locker room cancer. There is a reason no one is knocking down T.O's door to sign him! Just sayin.

  • In reply to ForeverBears:

Holt is just a slow smurf now. T.O. a cancer? He was a gent in Buffalo. Live and let live. The dude can get our jump balls. Remember those things? He can stretch the field, Holt can't.

One of my favorite live bands draws a crowd where all the young guys push and shove and act like idiots while the band is playing. It's totally lost on me. I know I'm too old but if people did that when I was that age the fight was on. Very strange. We used to get drunk, chase girls and hopefully get laid. Times have changed!

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Ok, so just watched Gruden interview Tebow and the other QBs.

    Couple thoughts:
    * Gruden is such an immense douchebag, it's actually painful for me to watch the guy. Gives me shivers some of you guys wanted him as our HC. Please no. Please.

    * Wow, Tebow is dumb as a bag of claw hammers. Great guy probably. Huge heart and desire to 'do good' for humanity and for Jebus, but dumb, really dumb.

    * Clausen and McCoy came off as pretty intelligent and well spoken. I was impressed. Not so much for Bradford, but not close to Tebow either.

    * Should be an interesting draft

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I know this sounds like whining (because it is) but when we get a high draft pick it's usually slim pickings. When we don't have a 1st or 2nd, it's a killer draft. When we got Enis, Terrell, Benson and McNown (whenever I hear the phrase "most NFL ready" I want to puke) they were all considered good picks or the consensus pick at that spot. Lucky us. Of course, we had dopes doing the drafting but that's another story.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

even the most stubborn pessimist should get a little chubby going watching a real offensive coach working with our Qb's and WR's on the Bears website in the video section.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

I'd say a curse last as longs the hires of retards continues. Tebow thinks that the Holy Bible is the exact word of God. I don't know if any of you have read the Old Testament - I presume there are Catholics/Jews?protestants out there so I guess there must be a few - but wow, just wow. All delinquents, people who work on a Sunday and women who wear clothing made from more than three types of thread must be put to death. I'm not joking, that's in the Bible. Tim Tebow believes that, ergo ...

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Butter will rock this year. Teams will have to deal with our two headed monster and I look to see our D have a banner year. I know it's hard for us to be positive based on last years performance but I think we will see our defense in the top ten this year maybe even top 5.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Wow Trac.

Take a sip and pass that shit around baby! I think shooting for better than last year is a great first step.

Staying healthy at key positions will determine our success even more so than FA and/or the draft every could. If all of our starters can stay healthy (an almost impossibility, especially with the Bears curse and lack of a proper conditioning/training program), and tommie and some others on the d-line step up in a big way, then we may have a shot at being pretty decent. But I know who

  • In reply to MB30SD:

There is another component MB and that's our offense. I think there will be a huge improvement with overall protection as well as Cutler being able to zip the ball into our receivers with Martz's wrinkle's. I don't think its unreasonable to think that our offense will have defense's back on their heels this year which will cause allot of opposing offenses to get careless under the pressure of being behind and our D front line applying constant pressure. OOOOOOOOOHraaaaaaaaaaHHHH.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Everyone in our division is getting better gents, no doubt about it. This year will be very intriguing, can't wait. Would love to see our defensive frustrigate opponents this year again. Wouldn't that be nice?

Shit guys, Detroit is impressing the hell out of me with some of the smart, ballsy moves they've made this off-season. I think they'll be a NFCN contender in the next couple years if they keep this up man. Good for them.

Scheffler for a fifth rounder? Any advances on Josh McDaniels for fucktard of the century ? It's like taking over the Niners and going "This Montana guy and Jerry Rice ... I don't know ... they could be issues..."

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

I also share your optimism Trac. Tommie is finally not rehabbing for a change and will be good to go. He is on a mission. He said he was a total disappointment & that he owes the game the kind of performance he is capable of. He is pumped about Peppers as well. Tommie said Me & Peppers will dominate together (pick your poison),because they cant stop us both. Our defense is coming in nice and healthy this year. Signing Peppers was Huge, he not only helps the rush, he also helps the secondary. If we can take care of the F-Safety position, I see us as a very dominant defense this year. BEAR DOWN!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Fuck Fuck Fuckity Fuck.

The LIONS wanted a TE. We couldn't have traded Olsen to the Lions for their 2nd rounder? Instead they went and got Sheffler?!

  • In reply to gpldan:

I think it was only for insurance. I think the Lions will beef up their Defense and Offensive line in the draft. They won't be giving up any picks. Instead they gave up a underachieving LB. I would start worrying guys, we can forget the days of Matt Millen's draft follies because somebody up there is not messing around this year.

  • In reply to Joseph:

Honestly, I could care less about the Frickin Lions? I am more concerned with DA Bears!! The Lowly Lions are improving, but have a ways to go still, But they are division rivals, so they can Kiss My Ass. I want to talk Bears Football, not our competitors!! Our Rivals can Kiss my Hairy Bears Ass!!! BEAR DOWN!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

Hey guys: Any word on a F-Safety yet? Ha,ha. Well the schedule comes out tomorrow. We seem to have a brutal schedule this year. I just hope we can stay healthy for a change, we are due for a season of relatively good health. We need the Football Gods to smile on Da Bears this year!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

Even Angelo's not that stupid. Wait ...

  • In reply to FQD1911:

I hope so Trac. On paper these team looks pretty decent. The only thing is we have a really tough schedule, so I hope you realize what you are hoping for is gonna be a lil hard to acheieve.

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

Even the Detroit games won't be gimmes for a change. We'll have to send all eleven players out on the field this year. BOOM!

    Can you smoke pancakes, really?

Marinelli will have the boys coached up. I'll never forget their comments last year. They were only ever told WHAT to do, when C-Rod came along they finally knew WHY they were doing what they were doing. And I think that was Wale saying that. They destroyed Rodgers in the first game, hit Roethlisberger was it 8 times ? Favre 10 times in the last game. When they were on, they were on. Throw in an improved Harris and the best DE in football (not forgetting Izzy) .. and old man Favre - for one - is going to be sorry he came back.

    Hope so Irish.

Agree 100% Trac. Hilarious and sadly poignant at the same time. They could do a lot worse than play football. I played ball with a lot of kids from similar backgrounds to those kids - but they wouldn't be up to much on a Saturday night because they knew they'd have to be up early on Sunday morning for training.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    America the beautiful.

  • In reply to Joseph:

Irish is absolutely correct. HH doesn't belong on the field at LB for the Bears. Other teams must get boners when he is out there because he gets worked, is one step too late, or gets blocked out of the play almost every play. He makes one play, after giving up the first down mind you, and people forget the other terrible plays during the year. Sorry HH, i don't understand the continued love for you.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

HH has the smarts and instinct for the game, just not the physical attributes. I'd rate him #6 for LB's and Shaw is a beast on ST's so maybe he's #7. If Jamar doesn't sign his tender maybe HH jumps back up to #6. Nothing to shout about.

Manning is just the opposite. Great physically, not so great on the smarts and instincts. He's worth keeping just for KR's. If he could figure it out our FS problem would be solved. Not likely to happen.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

agreed Canada, HH has the heart and the smarts but not the tools to contribute the way an NFL linebacker should. Manning is pretty much Forrest Gump. As long as he doesn't have to think he is just fine. He has no instincts though and thus he is ineffective at everything except KR. It's time to develop more talent at LB and cut ties with HH.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

They'll probably keep Shaw - he was signed for ST and he did well there, so I suppose they'll keep him. Wouldn't Jamar be equally as good on ST though? I'd just hate to see him go. Ditto Manning on ST - he's quality on the return team. Can anyone tell me why Hester returns punts and not kickoffs. Surely it's harder to do your stuff on PRs. Couldn't he return all the KOs and *some* punts? Let the man do what he was born to do.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

According to Mayer, Shaw is definitely a lock, because of his great special teams play. I dont have the stats on Hester, but apparently he had more T.D's & success on punts over kick offs. I was surprised, cause it would seem it would be the opposite. I would really like to see him get some opportunities on kickoffs this year. Add Manning & Knox and we have some lethal returners on our team. Oh and I would be shocked if the Bears dont keep Jamar.

  • In reply to ForeverBears:

You're right BF - 7 PRs for TDs versus 4 KOs. The killer ? No returns for TDs in 2 years. Ouch.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Ok I would settle for this guy, but I wish Mike Brown was could be his mentor. I think The Bears need to do what is necessary to get him.

    http://www.wikio.com/video/morgan-burnett-nfl-draft-highlights-2912056

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    Ha! He's back to #2 now ...

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

I think the reason some of us like HH is because he is dependable but not a top notch player. If I remeber correctly.. he helped win that game against MN last year.

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

Defintely did. 13 out of the 15 tackles were solos, but like I said, it was probably in the gameplan to run it straight at him all day. Whatever happens this year I'm really looking forward to seeing that front seven this year. And healthy!

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

I know Hunter has been taking some shots on here, so I looked closer at last year and how he filled in. Hunter did a good job filling in for Urlacher. Hunter was 2nd on the team in tackles with 105. He also forced 4 fumbles & 2.5 sacks. Briggs finished 1st with 147 tackles and 2.5 sacks. I dont want him as a starter, I want Urlacher, Briggs & Pisa. But Hunter does a pretty good job as a back up, he knows the defense and can step in to help. Just Sayin.

  • In reply to shonbear:

    Bold 2007 Prediction

Kiper: A guy who I think could be defensive rookie of the year is [defensive end] Anthony Spencer of Purdue. He'll probably be a late first-round or early second-round pick.

Mayock: JaMarcus Russell's ceiling is as high as any quarterback I have seen coming out of college since John Elway.

    ----

    Advantage: Kiper

  • In reply to shonbear:

Any love for Kam Chancellor if we converted him to FS? They'd better draft us a guard in the third round, but if he was there ...?

    Gruden or Tebow Trac?

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Hey Ghost, I have noticed the same thing in the media! These signings were big time signings, until the Bears picked them up. Now,tey are question marks, what a joke!! Sorry but Chi is one of the biggest markets in Sports. Mr. Peppers is going to make a Big Impact for us on Defense!! Chester Taylor with Matt Forte, will make a big 1-2 punch at R.B. Add Mike Martz & Tice and we will be a Dominant offense again!! With our Revamped defense, special teams & Offense, we should be in contention this year! BEAR DOWN!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Hey Trac enough with Manning, he has had his chances and has proved to be no more than back-up, come on man! I agree with Joseph, time to replace the guy! I would rather see Atogwe or Sharper at F-Safety for us!! We need a Veteran F-Safety. Joseph is right, he sucks for us, and needs to be replaced!!

Anyone interested in Flozell Adams? No? Good. He's older than I am.

Anyone else notice how before free agency began Chester Taylor and Julius Peppers were the most sought-after free agents in their respective units, offense and defense. Then once the Bears signed them they were poo-pooed. 'Oh those idiot Bears overpaid!' 'Those dumb Bears! Don't they know that nearly all big name free agents don't produce?' Is there an ESPN conspiracy here? One day Peppers and Taylor are the best offensive and defensive players in FA, then they sign with the Bears and they're shit? Hmm.

Personally, I can't wait until after the draft when the T.O. Show makes its yearly debut on Da Bears Blog. We don't want him. We don't need him.

So says the Ghost of Halas!

  • Hey Murph, I like the addition of Tice. He is known for being good at teaching O-Line and blocking, that can only help us. God knows we need it, bye bye Heistand! Tice has had very good success with his lines, when he coached the position, his teams did well and ran the ball efficiently. I so agree about keeping Hunter. I thought he did an admirable job filling in last season. He knows the defense in his sleep & is a good back up for us at LB. Just Sayin.

  • Is HH a good replacement?
    ========================

I don't see how a small linebacker who weighs about 32lbs less than Urlacher and sucked for 13 out of 14 games helps us at MLB Murph. Urlacher was clearly hurting in 2008 and his tackle total showed it - 93. HH, had 90 last year, not playing in 2 games. Urlacher averages about 130 tackles a year, so by my reckoning Hillenmeyer was 40 short of that average. That's a lot of tackles - what the hell was he doing out there? He's the middle linebacker for the Chicago Bears. In the ONE really good game he had (Minn.) I'll bet they were just running it straight at him all day - that was the gameplan - and he had 15 tackles with 13 of them solo. I'm not sure, but is there a smaller MLB in the league?

Urlacher and HH are the same height,6'4, but Urlacher put 10/12lbs of muscle onto last year's officially listed weight of 258, so I've got him at 268/270 versus HH at 238 - on the same frame! Jamar is the same weight as HH but 4 inches shorter. He's built like a linebacker. HH is built like a safety. Singletary was the same height as Jamar (6'0) but Singletary was half a stone lighter - that's a lot when you're talking momentum, a hell of a lot. We basically had a SS at MLB last year. There should be as little drop off as is possible if we lose a player, but when Brian goes down there's a fkn chasm. It was the one position I was concerned about last year in terms of depth. If your QB goes down, you're screwed anyway. I just don't think he's good enough to even be a replacement. I don't understand the love. He's a piss-poor tackler and in coverage he's lost in space. He's a thinker, a ball-watcher, the play is dead before he's figured out what's going on. Urlacher just goes. We can't carry 7 LBs can we ? Between HH and Jamar we have to hold onto Jamar.

As for Olsen, if you're not tough you're not tough. Can't put in what God left out. He's a reasonable receiver whose stats were skewed because he was a homing beacon for his buddy Cutler in a completely over-the-top fashion. Any other team in the NFL and no way he puts up those numbers again.

Irish, Hunter nor any other back up is going to compare to Urlacher, that is pretty obvious! Of course his stats will be lower. Remember, these are just other fans opinions, just like yours. Maybe you are right, or maybe you are wrong. I thought Hunter did well for us at backup, as many others have as well. I also like Jamar, he has some potential for sure. How about we get rid of Rashied Davis? Can we all agree on that move, ha,ha?? Take Care, Go Bears!

  • No worries about Izzy on this end. And dare I say it the best front seven in ?(no questions bout that if Jamar comes back)

Since I had Urlacher's stats open Doc, yeah in 2002 he had 151 tackles, or 66% more than HH last year. I repeat. What the f**k was HH doing out there last season?

    Whiffing.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

    ..in the NFL?

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Irish, you seem to have issues with HH and Urlacher. Get your priorities straight. Then you can make stronger, Accurate decisions on the games, good luck!!

  • In reply to ForeverBears:

    ???

Urlacher rocks, Hillenmeyer sucks and is built like a safety. If there's something I've missed I'm sure the lads will point it out for me.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Hey Irish, no harm no foul, it is all good. As fans we are bound to look at some players differently. I like your views most the time, you are an asset to the blog.

  • Hey Doc Rocker: Have fun and be Careful. I saw a recent photo of Markus Harrison like I am sure you all did. I was like "WOW" this guy is a Big son of a Bitch!! He was pictured with Marinelli, who looked like a oompa loompa standing next to him! He appeared to be in good shape, but he is flippin Huge!! I am feeling better about the D-line as well. Tommie finally coming into a season, without having to rehab. Urlacher got to rest his body all season and is in great shape & should help alot. His absence last year obviously hurt our defense big time. Peppers is going to be Huge for us, him and Tommie wont both be double teamed. With a healthy Harris plus Peppers & Marcus the Giant, I think Anderson & Idonije will contribute just fine with their quickness & athleticism. Maybe I am in the miniority here, but I like the addition of Pisa. In my opinion we have the best L.B corp in the league, if they stay healthy! I really liked what I saw from Pisa before he got hurt, I was excited with the line-up of Pisa, Urlacher & Briggs. I was also impressed with Zach Bowman starting his 1st year with 6 pics, not bad. He should be even better this year. I know this is obviously old news, at least to us fans, but we need a vetern F-Safety, Period! Other than our management, I am going to try to go in a positive direction as we are approaching the New Season. Basically, I am going to try not to focus on negatives, but rather the positives, and there are some. I will try to give the Bears until training camp, before I trash them anymore about not signing needed players yet. We still have time & options yet to fill our holes. As hard as it is, I will try to believe. Sorry for Rambling on. GO BEARS!

  • In reply to ForeverBears:

You do that BF. Chug it down. We'll keep it real, shaking our heads at the inhabitants of the clown car. They've been screwing the pooch for years, there is no redemption for them. Please God a new era begins next year.

  • I agree Murph: I am not sure what Irish is seeing, but I do not agree either. I see it quite obvious, who is the stay & who is the go, here! Lets bring on the secondary choices!!

  • In reply to ForeverBears:

No Offense Irish, but I dont see your plan coming to Fruition here!! I dont see the Bears taking over the Blog in this Bears situation!

  • Indeed Murph, indeed ... the girlfriend is away.

  • Of course no one is saying HH should start over Urlacher - that would be stupid. I'm saying he's not good enough to be Urlacher's backup and that he doesn't belong on this team. The Bears are known for the position of MLB down throughout history - when HH takes the field he lowers the standards that's all I'm saying.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

And I don't know what you mean by his paly and versatility Murph. His play sucks. I guess could call him versatile in that he can suck equally at OLB or MLB,correct. I have yet to hear a good case put forward for him - rather just people wanting to oppose a point because it's made by me. HH lovers - State your case for all to read, instead of single sentence statements that have no basis in reality.

Hunter Hillenmeyer is a good LB because ....

  • Spot on Murph. All I am saying is Hunter is a good backup for us, he knows the defense so well. I would Never compare him to the likes of Urlacher, nor do I want him starting for us. Hopefully it is a no issue and Urlacher will be healthy all year.

  • Chancellor looks awful:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TJUYcwwwOY

Burnett's stock is on the rise.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I'm also in agreement with Jim Miller, get a OG in the 3rd, some scrapper with a nasty attitude and an impressive bench press.

We need free agency or a draft day trade for an experienced FS, but I don't think we are getting one. They still think Manning can be salvaged into something, and Alfalfa or Bullocks or Payne can go back there with him...

  • Yeah.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQNWRhJZ7PU

Damn, I wish we could trade Olsen up for this kid...

  • In reply to gpldan:

looking at a bunch of mock draft sites.....2 sites have him going to J-Ville right before us (nfl.com & some other less known site). praying that we get a gift.

  • I don't believe Benson would have ever turned into a good RB with us. He needed a wakeup call to snap him out of his sense of entitlement. I'm not saying mgmt and his teammates helped any but he just didn't get "it" until he was released.

McNown is my least favorite of all those picks. What a flaming douchebag. I was really concerned even before he suited up for us. These were two small things but it said volumes about his character. He got caught with a handicap parking sticker at UCLA. What kind of an asshole does that? You're the BMOC, in top shape and you ace handicap people out of their parking spaces? Fuck me! The other was stealing Tim Couch's girlfriend. Couch was supposedly his best friend. I know the woman was a Playboy centerfold but you don't steal your buddy's girl. Period.

Both things really made me question his character. As it turned out, he was just about the biggest fucking loser we ever drafted. By far, my least favorite draft pick in my lifetime.

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Canada, in the same vein... but with a little perspective...

...how do you think san diego fans feel about Leaf. Holy shit that guy is the king of all fucking tools. What a complete dildo that guy is. Holy Jebus.

But that doesn't make McNown any less of a douchebag.

I honestly think that we can't draft good talent, and certainly can't develop them because of our horrendous coaching staff and nonexistent conditioning program, and unwillingness to make our players hit in camp and practice. Ok, I'll stop, I know you guys have heard this ad nauseum from me and I don

  • In reply to MB30SD:

My education of Americana continues. I know he was a sucky QB but why is he a dildo ?

  • In reply to CanadaBear:

Diddled his best friend's girl AND sported a handicap sticker on his car ? I just found my favourite new a-hole. Wow.

  • You could be on to something there Murph, bring back the honey bears ! Except this time don't make them all blonde haired and white please.

  • 45 reps? Sign the mofo.

  • +1

  • forgot all about Mitch. yea he played at my alma mater....dude is super cool off the field, but on? fuckin' mad-man. and he can play his position (wanna say RG, which is what we need)

  • Hey Murph, spot on with Zane Beadles from Utah. He would be a great pick up for us, I am hoping we draft him, if he is available when we pick. He hasnt received much hype, but I have seen him play & he would be solid for many years to come for us.

  • So we have the 5th worst management in the whole league. That actually made me a little more depressed. This should never happen to the original franchise of the whole league. Embarassing is such an understatement.

  • I knew you'd pick that up MB, great find Irish. In Bears news today, Danielle Manning has decided to participate in team conditioning practice. Man, this off-season is dragging. At least I got D. Rose and the Bulls in da playoffs tonight. Good day gents.

  • Roach has been re-signed lads..

JW signed, a vet safety, a LG .. and a 6'4 beast (JUMP-BALLS JERRY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAN!!)

  • Sorry Murph, But I disagree. I am confident that Harris & Peppers will make a Huge difference for us!! Hate or Love Tommie, but he has been rehabbing for the last few years. He has the talent when healthy, and it seems he will be back this year. Our defense will surprise this year, I have a good feeling. I also think we will get success from our offense, with our new coaching this year as well. Taylor and Manimal will make a big impact for us. As will the year our young players had this past season. I feel a bit better about this Bears team obviously, lets hope I am right. GO BEARS!!

  • Doc!

How was the rock 'n roll weekend man? Make it back in one piece?

  • Nah, he's way too old Doc ...

  • This guy must be related to Tyson.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Paddy Doherty, he's the guy on the left in the first video you posted Trac, albeit much younger....

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Irish, did you see where Paddy said he eats what he bites off so his opponents can't go to the hospital and stitch it back on? Brutal.

  • +1 Murph.

Can't teach heart. You either have it or you're a fucking lazy punkass who punches guys in the face... mask and says shit like, ' we've got our walls up against their backs'.

He may put in effort for some % of the season, for whatever reason, but he'll always be wasted talent in my mind. Best not to put your hopes on Tommie

  • We shouldn't be surprised that OMG is at RT. It's the wrong and therefore right thing to do. Going out and doing a deal for Gaither would have been insane, just like giving up two second round picks for the NFL's best receiver would have been. Mr. Angelo has been sent by God to test our faith.

  • I hope not.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

"Offensive line coach Mike Tice also encouraged power tight end Richard Angulo to sign with the Bears."

    No shit. Damn.

I wonder if Olsen could play OLB.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

I guess that makes about half of us haters on this blog Irish, the other half just want great insight from the player himself.

Roy is speaking truth to power Irish, truth to power.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

Mark Anderson needs to prove he can be a starter in this league. So far, he's only been effective when used in spurts (3rd downs). If he wants to stay on the field, he'll need to dramatically improve at stopping the run and staying in his gap. Let's see if he can shed a block from a 300 pound offensive lineman. He seemed to get stuck to them all the time last year.

I know I'm in the minority, but I think we keep Olsen and he is a top 5 TE is most stat categories this year. Looking forward to seeing what he does during the offseason to improve his blocking game.

  • In reply to crowntheirass:

Oh no doubt he stays knowing Angelo - that's his first round alma mater pick golden girl. What can Tice do for him ? Find him a set of balls and some sack-hair for starters ...

  • In reply to crowntheirass:

Angelo's alma mater golden girl? No doubt he stays and another Bear faithful - in Dez - gets airlocked.

What can Tice do for Olsen? Find him a set of man-balls for starters ...

    New thread!

  • News from around the league:

    * I think SF will be decent this year... if they can pull it all together and keep it all together. I'm pulling for Samurai: http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/179292-niners-looking-at-division-title

    * Please do us a favor and select an OT at #2: http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/179010-lions-still-debating-second-overall-pick

    * I'm not saying anything but, just imagine: http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/179310-haynesworth-wants-to-be-dealt

    * Check out #3 down. McCown... sounds an aweful lot like McC....: http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/rumors?&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnfl%2ffeatures%2frumors

    * And a little further down... how about Osi on the other side!? Or Merriman to sure up our injury-prone LBs (I know, I'm first in line to resign Jamar, but we're dealing with Angelo here)? Just slangin' shit to get the talk going.
