Bears Select Major Wright

Terrific pick from the Bears.  Major Wright has tremendous potential at the safety position.

  • when GB traded up to 71 I knew they were going to grab Burnet considering the what was left Wright may be the right pick. I just hope his coverage and his ball awareness are well enough to grab those up for grab balls that the D-line hopefully forces up

  • I don't know if this pick is good,... but I like it. Peppers will cause arrant passes, This Major kid averages 1 pick every 4 games. That 4 per year. Not bad. Indicates ballhawking skills. Plus he brings serious wood! Mark Carrier was 6'0" 185. This kid is 6'0" 205. Ouch! This might work.

  • You never know if it's any good. But they addressed a need. If I were the Bears, I'd add three more safeties by the end of the day tomorrow. One's gotta work, right?

  • In reply to JeffHughes:

And who's keeping Suh off Cutler? Who's blowing holes open for Forte and Taylor? Who's improving one of the worst OLs in football. Nobody. The Bears and the Broncos have alredy screwed the pooch in this draft. Why am I not surprised given we have one of the worst GMs in the business.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

irish...while I agree about the GM note and the MB insight..the jury is still out on this kid and I hope he can step up..I was having waiting to see if actually we had the balls to get what we needed in the draft and I think this is an o.k. move..mind you not a Suh move, but an o.k. move..now get guards to protect JC.

  • The Kids nickname is Major Pain.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    I like it..

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Hopefully he does this a lot

  • In reply to MASOCHR:

Wow, THAT is what I fucking love to see. Great hit.

  • In reply to MASOCHR:

I disagree! He was early and led with the helmet, he will get flagged for that.

  • In reply to MASOCHR:

I like the pick of Major Wright, from what I can see he appears to be a better prospect then we've had in quite a while.
Having said that I wonder if I'm missing something. Why the fuck are we drafting and signing only defensive players? Last season the Bears offense was ranked 23rd in the league and so far we've added backup running back Chester Taylor and that's it. WTF?

  • In reply to MASOCHR:

From the words of Kyle Brofloski mom on South Park: What What What Whaaahhhht....a QB???

    DA FUCK?

  • In reply to Joseph:

would you really want to leave the O in the hands of Hanie or Basnez (or however you spell his name)? at least we have somebody that can take over in case Cutty goes down

  • In reply to FQD1911:

I thought they wanted a veteran? And yes I would, at least they have experience.

  • In reply to Joseph:

experience doing what? playing preseason games? naw cuz....can't roll w/ that.

  • In reply to MASOCHR:

The theme song of that last draft pick!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

GP..now that iiiissss a big can of whoop ass!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

I see two maybe three lost picks here. We could have traded up and come away with 2 solid prospects that could start. Instead we might get a starting FS if we are lucky. This draft reminded be of a guy playing black Jack with his last 50 bucks that didn't have enough money to double down on his last hand.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

I feel your pain Trac, but trade up? With what? All our draft picks combined, would be lucky to net us a bottom 2nd pick or most likely a high 3rd rd pick (unless we traded a player). We just could not trade next years picks, 3 years in a row not having top draft picks is a dangerous game, that learning from the Redskins, doesnt work! We need all our picks next year, maybe even more. Dumbass Angelo will have to blow more money on free agents, since he cant frickin draft! Just Sayin!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Nope I like Lefevour, at this point of the draft we would be better off getting FA Offensive Linemen anyways. Im not convinced on Major though, I think Burnett was the guy and I cant wait to find out and hope to be proven wrong.

Dont like the DE pick, I'm with Trac on that, why do you release Alex Brown, a proven experienced performer that would have been awesome on the same field with Peppers and the hopeully better Tommie Harris as they have been touting.

I watched several Lefevour games and he was awesome, he is a winner. I think he could be the Tom Brady or Kurt Warner of the draft.

and that's why I am a fan. Fans put hope in the impossible to become possible and we hope it can happen for our team, furthermore we hope it can happen multiple times. Looking at our schedule, we have a steep hill to climb, but if we can get through those first six games with 5-1 or 6-0 record we could breeze through the rest of the season very nicely barring we stay healthy.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

O.K I admit in my rageful incident over drafting a Q.B, I may have been harsh on LeFevour. What I read when we 1st chose him was not good at all, although it was brief. But Larry Mayer has alot of good to say about him & presented stats that were impressive, that I didnt see at 1st. BUT, Mayer is a Bear Kiss Ass to Management as we all know, so I am not sure. One thing I am sure about is that we Still Should NOT have chosen a Fricking Q.b instead of some O-Line/Center help!! I am only admitting I made a mistake on his ability? But I still dont like the pick, over our NEEDS!! We already blew a bunch of draft picks to get our Q.B, last year!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Dear JackAss & Limp Dick Lovie,

Thank you for cluster FU!@##ING the fans and your franchise QB..Again you have shone us your genius of being analpores. You have completed the course on how to FU!#@K UP a one car funeral, screwed up a wetdream, shooting your wad during a lap dance do I need to go on!!! crickey you shits!! This O-line needed to be fixed but instead you say we are all set..I hope that Tice has water from the fountain of youth because we might as well give walkers for these OLD FU!#@#KS.. as for the last two games LOL!!! thats it they were the LAST TWO GAMES!! no one gave a shit!!! For the CW he was placed where he should of been in the first place!! But because of LDL's BFF club OP was in until he got hurt and LDL had no choice..I feel like we all got pissed on rather than being pissed off!!!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    why all the damn negativity?
needed a safety, drafted a safety, NOBODY knows how he'll turn out. Ill just choose to be excited, thanks.
BTW our QB was the best player at the senior bowl..

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

got a tackle, but ESPN doesn't know anything about him (haven't checked NFL.com yet tho). what's his story?

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Nfl.com doesnt have shit on him either.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

6'6'', 330 lbs, and reportedly has good feet.

well....there's a Mike Tice project for ya....sounds like a big fuckin' dude tho

  • In reply to FQD1911:

    FQ..he's a T..why not a guard or a center.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

fuck i don't know lol. maybe they're going FA w/ this 1 (Shawn Andrews is still looking for a job). and all the guards left were fuckin' garbage, so can't blame them

(hey...tryin' to find some silver lining.....i think they took too long to getting what they actually needed & went the wrong route w/ value picks. but the good news? if they fail, the new regime will have a fresh set of draft picks for '11 and tons of talent to mold)

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Sorry Fq.. That tackle is 6'7.. 335. Holy shit..

  • In reply to nicholsra:

    RT @skjensen: Webb: "I don

  • In reply to FQD1911:

    I like that attitude!

  • In reply to nicholsra:

One starter. Maybe a back up to a back up DE if his ACL doesn't give him trouble. A 3rd string QB that probably won't be on the team in 3 years, a CB I have never heard of and a 7th round Tackle that we don't need. HM........Is McCaskey making the picks now.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Trac.. You out of all people couldn't be ok with Omilaye or Shafter. We add competiton to the right tackle spot and we can now shop for a left guard or right guard.

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

How often does a 7th round tackle end up being good enough to start? Just Askin.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

it's not impossible tho. let's wait until training camp to make that indictment, but until then, his size is enough to get the tongue salivating....

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Can someone please make a well rounded case for these picks? Please help me out. I can See our 3rd round selection, no problem there but I really am having trouble making the rest of it work for me.

Maybe FQ, 85, , Animal, Jeff, anyone?

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Ok.. The corner. We need it to get young because Charles Tillman can't play forever and gets injured a lot. The De well, He looks like another JP because of his size and ability. They wanted more depth there. The qb.. We need three qb's and I can't answer that one any better than that. The right tackle gives us some competition .. he has a cousin by the name of Webb who should give him some good advice.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Ok here's my take:

Wootten - Motivate Mark Anderson & to see which of the other draft picks (Melton, Gilbert) needs to go. plus it was used as a value pick, so if he comes back to form, he could make a serious impact on a team already loaded w/ D-Line talent (Peppers, Harris, HUGE ASS Marcus Harrison). All-Big 10 is no slouch feat, especially at Northwestern, so we'll wait to see.

Moore - ok i can't lie...don't really like this one. i can see the reason though (inconsistency from 2nd team corners) and more competition, but this dude only put up 225 2x at the combine....NOT cool at all. but, on the field he was 2nd on the team in tackles (which means either the linebackers suck or the Big 12 saw a lot of passing attacks (which could be a little of both). still not sold on this, but will give it an outside chance

LaFevour - starting to like this more and more. at a 6th round pick, this was a steal (numbers don't lie....his shit is off the charts). i don't care if he was in the "iplaywithpeeweefootballsizedplayers" conference, 12K yards & 100+ PASSING touchdowns (along w/ 43 rushing) is no slouch. plus, i'm not too confident in Hanie or Brett whatshisface coming into a situation where you have to lead a team down the stretch in the reg. season. and if all else fails (and he shows that he can do something in the future), trade bait. not on this tom brady "6th round" bullshit tho (and i still think it's the system and not Brady who's doing it all....if he was that good, he wouldn't have rode the pine at Michigan)

Webb - i like this kid's attitude already. he comes from a family pedigree too (see this on his older cousin: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WebbRi00.htm). and if that doesn give you a chubby/make your vagina wet all on the inside, he's 6'7, 330 lbs. let me repeat this: 6'7'' THREE HUNDRED AND THIRTY POUNDS!!!! and the word is he has quick feet, so that's something for Mike Tice to mold (and that's the key). Had Hiestead still had been the person controlling the O-Line, i'd be scared. but name a JAX O-Lineman last year that was blocking from MJD. yea...i can't either. would not be surprised if he challenged Beekman & Ohmigod for a starting gig.

Overall Draft Grade - Solid C (could go as far up as B+ or as far down as D-)

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Another question.. Do you think a sixth round pick qb can start, win superbowl, or play? A player comes to mind.. Brady

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

Any other year but this one. No 1st, or 2nd round pick. Just sayin.

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

This right tackle has a 22 size shoe.. how is that possible and he is taller than I had recently post sorry. Not 6'7, he is 6'8.

  • In reply to Bears85Sweetness23:

yo this dude might fuck around and be a starter this year...if he breaks out and has a good TC, line him up w/ Chris Williams. Williams Wall who?

  • In reply to FQD1911:

RT @skjensen: Saw a report that Richmond Webb, former 7-time Pro Bowl OT, talks to his cousin J'Marcus twice a day! Not a bad mentor.

well by dammit, the Bad News Bears might have lucked themselves into a find. only took them 10 years & 70 rounds to do it

  • In reply to FQD1911:

So we have no draft picks hardly entering the draft. Then we get one fucking player who can probably play. And then piss away two or three picks on project players we don't need.
    6-10
    Jeff Fisher in 2011

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

1 thing's for sure tho. make sure that Mike Tice is kept on this staff (i can't name any O-Lineman off last year's Jax team & MJD was running nuts on people). perfect person to mold a great O-Line

  • In reply to gpldan:

I really like the signing of Major Wright, we were very fortunate to get him when we did. He was one of 5 safeties projected to be able to start in their rookie seasons. He played against very good teams in the S.E.C. Fuhck the Packers, they gave away 2 picks to jump ahead of us for a safety(Burnett) they dont really even need? What a bunch of Clowns. I also like the Wootton pick, and was surprised he was still there as well. Before injury he projected as a 1st or 2nd rd pick. He came back early from acl injury last year to help his team. His numbers were down because he hasnt had enough time to fully recover yet. He should be 100% by camp though, he is a monster & could end up being a steal. I have mixed feelings on our cornerback pick, he rates pretty well, but only weighs 188 lbs, and only did 2 reps at 225 lbs?? We still need some O-line help Damn it. O.K, now I am really Pissed!! I am furious with our 6th pick, a Fuhcking Q.B, are you freakin kidding me, WHY????? LeFevour, he is not rated worth a shiht & would have been an unrestricted F-Agent. Where our the O-Lineman Damn It!!!! WE have our franchise Q.B and a much better Q.B in Hanie already here and experienced with our team. I could see signing a vet to back up, but waste a pick on a nobody, when we need protection for the Q.B we have already in Cutler!! I literally was screaming over that waste of a pick, I guess our needs dont matter, Hell, why not draft all kickers?? Angelo, you Suck & the Bear fans Hate you!!!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

Thanks to Angelo, I guess Virginia is going to have to open the checkbook again for more free agents. To finally get some players of NEED!! O-Line was a Must in the draft, but Not to Ass Munch Angelo apparently. He adds a Q.B instead, who has no chance of starting in the NFL. Even though we alredy have our franchise Q.B, that we gave up a bunch of draft picks for already! Angelo: FIND SOMEONE TO PROTECT THE FUHCKIN Q.B WE ALREADY HAVE!!!!! I am gone, enough misery for me this weekend already.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

We missed Taylor Mays and Asamoah. Mainly because, as Trac said, we traded our 2nd for a guy who is no longer on our roster. Because, sadly, he's dead.

So now we got Rolle and Wright. Wright is Daniael Manning Pt. 2. Rolle is probably the smartest safety since Yale man Fencik. The guy is actually a Rhodes scholar. Good pick, but not Taylor Mays.

  • In reply to nicholsra:

I have a feeling that Olsen was heavily shopped behind closed doors, with no takers. When you're out there peddling your wares, and nobody wants what you're selling - try selling something else for fuck's sake.

Let's play historical analogy, Jerry, shall we?

Hester is to Eric Metcalf as Taylor Hays is to Ronnie Lott. Who has more Super Bowl rings?

  • In reply to gpldan:

Olsen who was a 1st round pick with several years under his belt as a starter in the NFL wasn't even a consideration for the Pats to trade 1 of their 3 2nd round picks for. Tells us allot gents.

    Dear LDL,

Please don't FU@!$#!@K with this kids head just let him go out and hit someone..let him knock recievers into the 2011 season..and make their ancestors feel the hit too...don't place him in SS position, don't move him around thinking that your are a genius of a coach.... you are not..... let this kid grow into one hell of a player and have him develop the way he should..PLEASE HANDS OFF!!!!

    Your Loving Bear Fans

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Ya'll remember your praises here when next week you go back into your "Angelo is a perverted retard" diatribes.

  • In reply to Mastodon:

SC..Angelo is and alawyas will be a FU#!$@KSTICK..that will never change in my eyes..I am o.k. with this pick..we actually went after someone we needed..I am surprised we didn't go after a TE since JA & LDL are retards though.

  • In reply to Mastodon:

SC, not sure where you've seen much JA love in the last.... 14 months?! Not from me man. Not after we got peppers, taylor, and Manu, and not now.

Guy made a fucking super easy, 'the best guy left on the board at the spot we desperately need to fill at our pick' decision, and nothing more. I don't give him any fucking credit. A drunk retarded monkey with epilepsy could have made that pick. Shit, I bet he got all his 'pre-draft intelligence

  • In reply to Mastodon:

Sorry for being so negative guys but I can't believe we made all the free agent signing's we did and when we got to the draft we didn't kick it up a notch.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

because trac...stupid is as stupid does...Im dark on this draft because I understand our management WE ARE FU!#@#@NG MORONS!!! I'm out till the dust settles....

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Hmm.

    Needed a safety.

    DRAFTED a safety.

    What a concept!

    Major Wright, eh?

Believe it or not, he is NOT the first player named "Major" drafted by the Bears!

    http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HazeMa20.htm

Hopefully, THIS one will have a MAJOR impact.

Of course, I am not counting the veritable plethora of draft picks the Bears have used #1s on who all turned out to be named...

    "Major DISASTER".

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Al...sweet triva!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I was never excited about this draft..I thought we needed to go more in FA. JA you suck..I would love to bitch slap that smirk off your face..I think that's the same smirk MM (canary sweaterboy gives)..you bitch..as for you LDL..well your initials say it all. We had chances to give a bigger splash in FA and all we got was a drip..now we will watch JC running for his life because you'all felt we needed more D than protecting our franchise ..shit!!!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Why do I have a feeling the Packers fucked us? Burnett is more of a ballhawk type. Don't we have 3 guys on our roster just like Major? Payne, Afalava, Steltz? We needed a guy with instinct, I hope this guy has it. Just sayin. I guess we will know how pans out in training camp, all eyes on Major. I kinda feel bad for the guy with all the pressure to step in and contribute. Sharper anyone??

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

What a travesty. We pick an undersized safety that can't tackle, when we need the best guard available? This is the guy we pick to replace Mike Brown? Some second/third tier project? What a joke. Clearly Angelo was given $130 million to improve us and he blows it all on three guys. So we were never in the hunt for Atogwe anyway it seems. We're going to have to draft another safety, re-drafting positions like we always do. You're a joke Angelo - you're out the door next year so you decide to screw us in the meantime. You've left us short at DB, OL and WR. FOAD Jerry!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

He will be once he joins the longest bench of waste of space safeties in the league. We STILL haven't got an NFL starter. We could have had MB at a bargain basment price or thrown $5M at Sharper and drafted one of the best next year. Inside we have this guy and whatever bum guard that's left ... I fkn despair at this GM we have I really do. Gas up the clown car Lobo ...

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

irish...I feel you brother..I am hoping there is more to the story about Sharper then have been in the public rags and why we didn.t go after him. As for MB ..shit LDL and JockAss have to much stupid ass pride to admit they were wrong on ever letting him go in the first place...That my friend was a cluster cuss from the beggining.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/nfldraft/ct-spt-0424-bits-bears-nfl-draft--20100423,0,1789593.story

Holy shit! It gets worse! Look at the shit-eating grin on Angelo in this phot - drafting a CB in the 4th - are you fkn kidding me?! Two yearsa in a row and he's going to screw the OL again! I'm outta here. Done with this draft.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

We knew Irish, we knew. Lovie is so focused on resurrecting his career as a defensive minded coach that he failed to trade up for Asamoah who would have been able to come in as a starter. A move like that would have gone a long way in improving our ability to throw and run the rock.

  • In reply to IrishBearsFan:

With the next pick, The Chicago Bears select Myron Rolle FSU Safety.
    http://www2.tbo.com/content/2010/apr/23/sp-long-rhodes-to-the-nfl/
Between Wright & Rolle, Bears would be much improved at that spot on D.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Now you know what I meant when I said the time for honoring yourself was over JA. Bottom line Irish is that we badly hurt ourselves by trading for Gaines Adams for this years 2nd pick. It allowed Green Puking Bay to Ho slap us and jump ahead of us in the third round. I can see maybe one starter coming from this draft but 3. No Way.

  • I knew Lovie would pick a FS this round. Guard please.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    trac.......YES!!! guards....plural

  • Well, at least the Bears management wasn't delusional enough to think the secondary was any good after last year.

I hope Major Major Major Major Wright becomes a good player.

  • JA.. GET ME TWO GUARDS!!!!! PPPPLLLLEEEEEEAAAASSSEEEEE!!!!!

  • We've got Henry Melton for that ...

  • Doc..not much to lol about..until we see what this team is this is just a sobering moment.

  • Taylor Mays will be the next Ronnie Lot. Wight will be the next Craig Steltz. You guys can bury your head with JA and say Wright was a bargain or a great pick but I say we missed a golden opportunity to trade up for Taylor Mays because JA and Lovie want to pick a middle of the road CB in the fourth round. A perrenial starter (Mays) vs a wasted roster spot for some no name phantom. These guys blew it, period.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

trac.....MB raved about Mays and we had the chance..shit..I think MB is headed to Halas Hall..watch out JA..hahahahahahahaha!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

And before anybody says we signed the best player we could have gotten let me remind you that Green Bay pulled a fast one by leap frogging us while we had our hand out asking for donations and shoplifted Burnett before our very eyes. When Mays slipped past the middle of the 2nd round our fearless leaders rolled the dice and closed their eyes hoping Burnett would fall to us instead of man-ing up and signed the best FS for Chicago style football on the board. I guess this is what happens when JA is playing checkers while everyone else is playing chess. We're paying for their sins of the past boys and I'm sick of it.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Not only that, the Kid from Illinois that could have come in and started for us at Guard was there for the taking with a very do-able trade up in the 3rd if JA would have had his eyes open. I don't think there is a Bears fan alive that wouldn't have been cheering had he traded up for Asamoah. These guys are order takers and wouldn't know the first thing about getting out and closing the deal. It's easy to write a bigger check than the other guy and that's the only thing these guys seems to know what to do when they arse's are in the preverbial crack.

  • He's another athlete like Manning Doc. Lovie just drafted Manning's twin.

  • This ChicagoNow blog software was coded my mental midgets using Visual Basic. We're lucky it works at all.

  • Oh wow, the Bungles drafted guys who all had off the field issues, like DUIs and such.

Cincinnati: The Oakland of the East.

  • damn this is a lot of pessimism on the board. can we not be happy we have a safety? (and I for one think it's a great pick b/c i've watched him for 3 years since he's in the SEC....trust me he has the skills to close off half the field). now....it's up to this kid to live up to his pro potential and get the work done starting yesterday.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

We've been burned too many times FQ. Given this teams current situation and inter division competition the status quo will not get it done FQ. We needed to get a playmaker or top level guard to keep pace with the Queens and Pukes. All we did was sign the best player available in the 3rd round when we could have loosened our jockstraps and traded up for a player that would have mattered.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

o and as for guards, i think the bears should really look into getting Mitch Petrus (OG - Arkansas). not only is he from my alma mater, dude is a very, very solid contributer, strong as fuck (41 reps on the bench), and w/ Tice at the helm, could be a Pro-Bowl kind of guy.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Why didn't the Bears draft Chad Jones who was ranked the 5th best FS above Wright?

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

trust me bro....Major Wright is a step above Chad Jones (I watch SEC football all season long....Jones was burned more times than Wright). Bears made the right call (for once....very surprising)

  • In reply to FQD1911:

I will trust your word FQ. He looks like a baller.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Tell me now that we shouldn't have traded up. What a low down sorry S.O.B. This assturds deserve to be run out of town with pitchforks up their asses.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

if Mitch slips, JA is to blame. I'm telling y'all this kid is a stud. 41 REPS!!!!! Tice could mold this kid into something spectacular (and we need to find a replacement for Garza in a couple of years....2 birds w/ 1 stone)

  • In reply to FQD1911:

I love this pick! I called for this guy a couple weeks on here, but didn't think he would be on he board. This guy is not Manning part 2, this guy can hit hard. You don't have to be tall to be a great safety. Think Bob Sanders, Polomalu, Ronnie Lott.

  • In reply to crowntheirass:

Not saying that where we picked him was that bad but I really think trading up would have gotten us Mays or Asamoah. Specially since they just drafted another DE which tells me AB should not have been cut, which tells me we once again we take 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Why do you cut a very good player like Alex Brown and then use a pick to replace him in a year without a 1st or 2nd round pick? One logical answer will help me with this.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Wasn't Alex Brown selected in the fourth round?

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Trac...Mays can't cover. He's a taller faster Afalava. He's more of a in the box Saftey. We needed a cover/instinctive guy. Shit, I would of been cool with him too but not to trade up and go get. Especially not for Olsen. We need interceptions from that position not highlight tackles. Just my opinion.

  • In reply to Joseph:

I hope you are right Joseph. I am dissapointed we selected a DE with our 2nd pick. Must mean like FQ says that Melton/Anderson/Gilbert won't cut it.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

No offense but Singletary played on the Best defense to ever be assembled and he selected Mays. I trust Singletary over this band of bozo's.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Did you guys see this about Major?

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/04/24/major-wright-viewed-as-a-defensive-tim-tebow/

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

+1. Singeltary has the best mike in the NFL playing for him (ironic) and he went with Mays.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    AUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sigh. Deep breath. Irish temper... taking over... going Bruce Banner... where is my can of PBR?

Looks like it is the waiver wire for OL guys. If Cutler complains to the press, I won't view it as being a whiner. I will view it as survival technique.

  • In reply to gpldan:

GP...JC should go to LDL's office and go apeshit on his ass..I'm thinking of driving 1500 miles just for me to get some satisfaction...LDL & JackAss you FU!#@$G BAS!#@$@RD'S!

  • In reply to gpldan:

Major Wright was a great choice...but cmon Angelo a DE and a QB.. he wasted two draft picks on positions we are set at....Y would we need another DE when the roster is full at that position..

  • In reply to FQD1911:

the Bears talking heads are apparently high on this kid. looks like somebody's getting cut next year (Anderson, Melton, Gilbert)

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Bears on the clock.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Best Available I guess...Cory Wootton DE/Northwestern

  • In reply to Joseph:

No Joseph, more like best available guess.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    No kidding Trac.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

If the Bears trade Jamar Williams for another 4th or a 5th rounder what would that tell you. I feel something like this will happen before this draft is over. Please let me be wrong.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

And the Bears select in the 4th..........Coorey Wooten DE. What the...
That's what I'm talking about FQ.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

smfh.....and what do the Bears do? get another DE (Corey Wooten). wow.....fire Angelo now.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Did I read this guys stats wrong? I see 20 career NCAA tackles with 0 sacks and 0 int's? Maybe I'm looking at the wrong guy?

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

And they couldn't damn well keep Alex Brown. What a bunch of "LOSERS".

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Allot of boards didn't have Wright in the top 10.

  • Wake up MB. Get your ass in here.

  • The kid has a chip on his shoulder, reminds me of the 85 Bears.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

is that a chip on his shoulder? or somebody crying b/c he didn't get the money he thought he was going to? my vote's on the latter, but after hearing this story, glad we didn't take him (i've had it w/ players acting like pansies when it's a privilege to play in the NFL & get paid ungodly amounts of money to work out)

  • In reply to FQD1911:

I want some pissed off players on our defense with a bad disposition and a stink in their drawers.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    from @ESPNChiBears

"Wootton started in 49 of 53 career games for the Wildcats, finishing with 19.5 sacks [third in school history], 38 tackles for lost yardage, three fumble recoveries, and four blocked kicks. Wooton also intercepted four passes."

let's hope the medical team (sigh) and conditioning squad can get this guy back up to form....sounds like he could do some immediate damage (and more importantly, weed out the ends that don't need to be on this team).

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Bears are up next!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

We have a Corner! Joshua Moore Kansas State

  • yea idk what's the deal. they might just wait till after the draft to see what's up w/ the O-Line (and it might not be a bad idea).

  • Damn the ESPN boards and elsewhere have a whole lotta Tebow haterz going apeshit.

I don't think the tone here is negative. I do hope Jeff points out the weakness of these late draft picks.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Jeff - please post how Wooten is JA throwing feces at the fans, and we shoulda just paid AB.

  • In reply to gpldan:

RT @mortreport: Giants get strong, tough, passionate All-SEC guard in Arkansas Mitch Petrus in 5th rd. Love the pick, despite my Hogs bias #nfldraft

dammit i need a job in the Bears organization when it comes to drafting.....Mort is rarely wrong a/b these things

  • In reply to gpldan:

RT @Adam_Schefter: Filed to ESPN: Jets released Pro Bowl G Alan Faneca. #nfldraft

Him AND/or Shawn Andrews.....that would make this team a serious playoff contender

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Fanneca allowed 6 1/2 sacks last year which was more than any other interior lineman.

  • Garrett Wolfe, your flight is about to leave Ohare...

  • I wish he was a baller.

  • In reply to kidronmusic:

i wish he had a girl, and maybe then, he would call her.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

I wish he had a rabbit, in a hat, with a bat. And a '64 Impala...

  • In reply to FQD1911:

My take.. I am ok with the picks but not happy. I wanted to get Mays but since he is bitching..I'm glad he went to Niners. If we don't get that guy from the jets.. I will be pissed. We didn't draft any guards or tackles or a center. The De move.. he looks like another JP.. 6'6 .. monstruous.. Hmmm hopefully he can talk to Rod and become a starter. I love the major wright pick.. he seems to give his all on every play. We need players who will do that.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Just what we need, an undersized corner who can play nickel and a defensive end who tore his ACL a season ago. Typical Jerry Angelo picks.

  • In reply to kidronmusic:

Source: Jets to cut veteran Faneca
    http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5130870&campaign=rss&source=twitter&ex_cid=Twitter_espn_5130870

  • In reply to kidronmusic:

if angelo were smart, he'd try to sign Shawn Andrews, Ken Hamlin, & Alan Faneca (if that actually goes down). he does that, he deserves a spot on another team (not another year hear tho....still reeling from that Ced Benson fuck up)

  • In reply to kidronmusic:

Giants got Petrus. dammit Bears!!!!! welp....looks like it's FA marketplace time.

  • Like that song I feel disgusted. And Jerry will try and feed us a line of B.S why the pick made sense. I guess we should just sign a buch of QB's since we will need them as Suh, Allen, and the rest of the premier pass rushers destroy our O-line and get to the Qb.

  • In reply to Joseph:

the only way this makes sense is if they go into FA and pick up some OL there. if not, Jerry's gone.

  • In reply to Joseph:

Lance Louis will be a starter by the end of camp. This is why they have not taken a guard. They picked him up in the 6th round last year and kept him on the active roster to prevent other teams from snatching him off the developmental (practice) squad. Our O-line looked great in the last two games last year (after Williams was shifted to the left side, and Pace was shown the bench).

With that said, I would love to see us take a run at Faneca.

  • It was reported on Nfl network. That's why he ihas been released.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Actually, he wouldn't take a pay cut. Would love to get him but I doubt the Bears will pay the price.

  • never know. Titans may cut him....still hope out there (but i agree...he may not do all that well in stationary drills, but in game action, dude is a baller)

  • one thing i can say a/b Juilus Peppers' attitude that i absolutely love: he sounds like a very humble human being. Saw a video at Bears' Expo....dude sounds genuinely in awe a/b how big the Bears are in Chicago and how much the fans support the team. can't wait until TC.

(sorry for the constant posting fellas & ladies....just get real pumped around draft time

  • I hear you, Doc. I'm not crazy about the Dan LaFevour selection while Rolle was still on the board.

Yes, LaFevour has great career numbers, but I saw him play last season here against Arizona. He was unimpressive and I thought he looked out of his depth.

Lovie probably heard Rolle was a Rhodes Schiolar and didn't want a guy who studied highways in college.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Al..it's because he found out this kid has a higher IQ than him.

  • While I'm on a Rolle, Jerry aslo probably figured it wouldn't be wise to draft someone who is clearly more intelligent than your head coach.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I saw how you did that Al

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Gents!

I have a good buddy in town this weekend so have been out in the fun and sun. Trac, sorry to leave you hanging my man. You guys have been keeping it all up in here nicely though. Well played.

    Here

  • In reply to MB30SD:

MB..good to here from you bro..well said on all accounts..all I can get out of my thoughts are

BOY ARE WE FU!@!$#@ED UP!!!! FIRE UP THE CLOWN CAR!!!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEQcxTyiwWQ&feature=related

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

damn Al ..I jumped the post...do I feel like a Lovie!

hey from now on any screw up the Bears do we will call it a "LOVIE"

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Wright - I like
Wooten - For the money was worth a shot, for the Teams needs wasn't worth the risk.
Moore - don't like, I don't think he will see much playing time if any next year
peppy Lepue or whaterever his name is, wasted pick. The timing was not right this year.
Webb, upon further review may be the 2 best pick of our draft. I like him and what I've read about him, sounds and looks like a very confident player.
