Chicago Bears Put 2010 On Notice

julius-peppers.jpgJulius Peppers will sign a six-year deal worth more money that any of us can ever dream of making.  He immediately makes both the defensive line and secondary better.  He's an elite player.  And he's on the Bears.

taylor.jpgChester Taylor will provide the Bears with the best combination of running backs in the division and a brilliant pass-catching threat for Mike Martz' system.  More than that, his absence in Minnesota will be noticed dramatically.  AP has notorious issues in the blocking department and will now be forced to stay on the field in third-down situations should the Vikes not sign another back.
511967.jpgBrandon Manumaleuna's signing should be treated like an upgrade to the offensive line because that's what it is. In an offense that requires deeper drops, Manu will keep the better defensive ends off the back of #6.

  • PEPPERS DEAL IS OFFICIAL!

  • Pepper and Butter. Holding down the left side of the line. When they feel like it.

This guy's impact in the locker room should be interesting. I doubt he kisses Urlicker's ring. He may take the locker room over. $15m a year for what amounts to the rest of his career. More money than Larry Johnson made playing for the Charlotte Hornets in the worst NBA contract in history.

I like nothing about this deal. I don't think Maranara gets under this guy's skin. I don't think anybody does. I think he treats himself as one class of player, and everybody else as something lower, other than maybe JC. No sign of being a team guy, no sense of a work ethic. Could have been the Michael Jordan of NFL DEs, the most dominant DE we've had here since Dent, but will probably play as well as Wale did when it's all factored together with the number of plays he checks out on.

Sigh. Ah well, at least Butter won't be the biggest headcase on that line. I'm prepared to eat crow (not steak) on this, but I don't think I'm wrong.

  • In reply to gpldan:

way to see the negative side. I agree, let's not be excited and optimistic. It really sucks that we signed a top tier D-end and great RB.

  • In reply to gpldan:

enough of this pessimistic shit. the FO just went out and got 3 guys in less than 24 hrs. that dramatically improve our football team (and got them to long-term deals). for today, let's be positive and decipher it all tomorrow (which i will be drunk on for the majority of the day)

thanks Bears for a great early b-day present

  • In reply to gpldan:

When a player like Mushin Muhommad says Peppers is worth every dollar he gets I tend to believe him. Alot of ex players talk smack about Peppers because he is who they wanted to be. Its over for all the rectum thermometers in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. Peppers is going to make you cry for Bud Grant and Vinni Lombardi when its all over. We just signed the player that will have 2 games next year to officially retire the Brett girl for good.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

peppers will help the defense tremendously. double coverage will go his way instead of tommie's way. which could lead to tommie's play being 80 percent close to his play in 2006 which that will be huge. its not about sacks its about pass rush. not giving quaterbacks time to scan the the field like we normally do of late. will help out our db's giving vasherand tillman a lot of help and give our defense more take aways, look at cutler and other qb's in the league when not givin time to wait for their play to develop leads to eractic choices and turnover. so draft bears d in this years fantasy leagues

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

the bears do have a need on the o-line but not as bad as many fans think. its hard for a new line to gel together but by the end of the season i saw huge improvements especially in the second minn game. we won the game gave up no sacks to a very talented d-line. williams is good garza is good kruetz we all know is great. and the supporting cast issint that bad plus john tice is good as you can get to mold o-line players he's put many in the pro-bowl.

  • In reply to chitown0685:

No, it's bad. The starters aren't up to scratch, never mind the bench. All it takes is for one guy to go down and you have a really weak link in the chain. The chain breaks completely. Omiyale sucks - I don't care if he's a tackle, his blocking sucks. Do guards and tackles block so differently ? The penny will drop when he's abck at tackle ? Nah. Garza's a year older, we need fresh blood to bring up. Kreutz is at the end. There's no depth at an important area - the O-line - where offensive success begins.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    i mean mike tice

  • In reply to FQD1911:

thaaaank you Irish. Thought i was typing in Greek for a second there.

Seems like a pretty straight forward concept to me... our line is average on their very best day, we lose one starter and it's an emergency situation again. I don

  • In reply to MB30SD:

...And Lobo... I know you and I are on the same page bud.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

This picture cracked me up (Jim Trotter is a douche btw): http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/ (go to the free agency tab)

Look at all the big ass $$$$$$miles up there, especially goofy-spice! Itsn't it wondermous! Good shit mang.

Now let's add 2 guards, 2 FSs, and a true #1 WR and we'll be on our way to the big show next year. Booo Yaaaa!

  • In reply to FQD1911:

    Mark Schlereth & Colin Cowherd.

    LOL.

    Tweedle-Dumb and Tweedle-Dumber.

THEIR opionions on the Bears aren't worth as much the majority of regular posters on the Da Blog, except for the Trolls. Maybe.

Schlereth's nickname, "Stink", befits him. He HATES Cutler because Jay told his beloved Broncos to go piss up a rope. Since then Josh mcDaniels track record on player-relations merely confirms Cutler made the right move.

This is the same guy who went on the air after the "who broke the arm" crap hit the fan in Oakland last year and said that his good friend, his bro, Tom Cable, told him that "nothing happened". Right. That's why there was a police investigation and now the Raiders are being sued by the assistant. Friends like THAT you can find in the phone book under "Jerk", Markie.

Cowherd is the typical 'contrarian" sports host whose "opinions" are formulated strictly on what will "move the needle" for his tepid show which is so highly regarded here that it is tape delayed in favor of a REPEAT of "Mike & Mike" and then airs opposite Jim Rome. I'm no fan of Mr. Rome, but I wouldn't give a plugged nickel for "The Herd's" ratings up against "The Jungle".
Is Cowherd's show even CARRIED in Chicago? Seems to me it is bumped for local guys, which I am sure frosts Colin's butt.

Here's what a COMPLETE idiot Cowherd is: When he first replaced Tony Kornheiser he treated callers pretty respectfully. After about a year he started treating them like punching bags and punch lines. He would regularly talk up his marriage to his hot wife THEN, right after the birth of their SECOND child, he winds up divorced. Well, DUH! Marriages don't crash overnight, SOOOO this guy, who always thinks he's the smartest man in the room, conceived a second child in a marriage that was no doubt already on the rocks. Brilliant! THAT is trailer-trash mentality. Plus, despite his own train-wreck track record personal life, he regularly dispeneses relationship advice as 'Uncle Colin'. That's like the captain of the Exxon Valdez giving navigation lessons.

    I rest my case.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

dammit Al....this is why you're 1 of my fav. posters on this site. pure GOLD!!!!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Cowherds show does not air in chicago as far as I know...They only time we had to suffer through his idiocy was when he was on ESPN's terrible show...Sportsnation, which I think was axed...no surpirse.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

haven't heard anybody mention this, but is it a forgone conclusion that CT will be the new starting RB? or will he be the complement to Matty?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

SD...my earlier post talked about his heart..and I agree about the passion just as I thought letting MB go was a poor chioce. They maybe the older statesmen and may not have the physicalities as the younglings but damn the heart of a warrior cannot be overlooked...as in BraveHeart..all together now "FREEDOM"!!!!!!!!!!! we do need to have a youngling under him learning about the Center position.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I am really excited- these are some great players.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I re-gained hope in my favorite team today. They showed me they want to win now. They showed me it's not all about dollars and cents. They showed me that they're willing to take risks and do whatever is in their power to be winners. The Bears are what I hoped they would be today. For that, I'm a thankful fan. Now, finish strong.. Go get Atogwe and only trade Olsen if it lands us Boldin or Marshall.

  • In reply to crowntheirass:

Crown - Olsen would have been gone by now, what do you guys think ? We can enjoy the new signings in the coming off-season, but what I'm afraid of is that the spending is over. They had $130 million to blow and didn't keep $3M for a safety - that kind of thing. Then they draft some dufus in the 3rd or 4th round and "He's our guy. We like Nigel at FS. We're not concerned he hasn't played organised football"

    That kind of thing ....

  • In reply to gpldan:

I AGREEE! If we can complete our needs but have to trade olsen. Go for it!

  • In reply to gpldan:

all 3 of these players are 30 yrs. old. can we call them the "30 Rock Brain Trust?"

or have a pun w/ "30" in it?

  • In reply to gpldan:

Im sure some of the elder statesmen here can tell us, but Im pretty sure this is never-before-seen stuff from our Bears.

You really cant complain about anything theyve done. These are both great signings....I could give two shits about the money because its not mine...

On that note, and Im just thinking out loud, but wouldnt it make a ton of sense to front load the first year of these contracts since its an upcapped year, therefore if a cap comes back the hit isnt as bad next year?

Am I thinking that through correctly?

  • In reply to gpldan:

Since we've exploded in FA market, here's a player we could get in the upcoming draft. Myron Rolle. Former Florida State player is a Class Act who'll be there in 3rd round. A Rhodes scholar playing safety. Plus he's a big hitter who can play as a rookie.

  • In reply to tkfay:

you're absolutely right Jersey, except that you are still a tool.

  • In reply to tkfay:

History has shown us that proven veteran players can make a world of difference. Of course its a gambel but well worth it at a few key positions to any team.

Example 1: Safety..... Shapper for the saints helped them tremendously last year.

Example 2: Receiver....Moss to the pats was a good move a couple years ago and they almost went undefeated.

Our Time Is Now! Get what we need and we will be a dominating force on both sides of the ball.

  • In reply to tkfay:

Well we seem to be off to a good start, and Lovie says it's all about finishing strong, well, set the example gentleman!!!

  • In reply to tkfay:

    Sdwat52-

He he he...I meant, experienced, wise, elder statesmen!

  • In reply to tkfay:

+2. Always good to have super smart people around... in any situation.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    Jersey-

I love that guy, Im just not sure if he will fall that far for us...It would be great if he did...

  • In reply to gpldan:

Look at da hit on Rodgers. Look at him spin away from the double team by the Bucs. Peppers comes from the end, the middle, and everywhere in between. He looks pretty motivated and vicious to me. He will spread that attack mentality to the whole D.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FkiH2nWXGc

  • In reply to gpldan:

He's better than Mark Anderson, Gpl. It's only money and it's not ours. As soon as retires he'll be a defensive legend - if we get two years out of him, great. If we can find a monster undertackle (or just give Shaun Rogers a job), how is that line blockable ? Look at the friggin depth we have at DL. Izzy will be lucky to see the field - he could start on most teams. Adams, Harrison, Brown. We're loaded now. Add in our linebackers ... John Madden could play free safety behind our front seven. Julius didn't get where he is by not listening, this season I say Marinelli shows everybody why he was brought in. A carpenter is only as good as his tools.

  • In reply to gpldan:

damn...the 4-letter network really hates the Bears. Mark Schlereth & Colin Cowerd (superior jock-sniffers) are poo-pooing the move, saying that:

    1) get jay cutler some help....no receivers - (but he threw for 3,500+ yds. last year in a shitty offense.....yea....)
    2) no o-lineman - (this i agree with, but maybe mike tice can work some magic w/ these boys, especially frank oh-my-god-i-almost-got-jay-killed).
    3) paid too much for julius peppers, chester taylor is over the hill, and you got a blocking TE...whoopie - (JP wrecked shop all last season, where was this over-the-hill shit when CT was spelling AP and looking like a starter, and a blocking TE in mike martz' scheme.......yea that won't help) :-l
    4) the Bears are still chasing the Vikings and Packers and both teams are still better than Chicago - (hmmm....Chad Clifton is on his way out of GB, a pro-bowl caliber o-lineman, and we just took chester taylor away from the Queens....anybody that watching football will say that the Vikings will dearly miss CT's presence).

but you know what? i LOVE the hate. i LOVE the fact everybody hates (and hates on) Cutty. i LOVE how everybody hates peppers now and say he's too old. and lastly, i LOVE how ppl are forgetting that Isaac Bruce & Torry Holt (BOTH being 6'0) were the main cogs to the "Greatest Show on Turf"

so the Bears version (name to come later), the receivers range from 5'11 (Hester) to 6'2 (Aromashadou). something tells me we'll be ok.....and mark my words....everybody is going to be on their dicks come September.

  • In reply to gpldan:

It's amazing how many people buy into the "he takes plays off" meme. People can be so gullible.

  • In reply to gpldan:

just woke up, pinched my arm, it's 8am in Chicago and yup...yesterday really happened.

I was a little dismayed to see that Boldin was obtained for a 3rd and 4th round draft pick. that seemed like something the Bears could have done. i think they were probably thinking about filling some other holes though.

Lito Sheppard is available since the Jets just released him. Bring him in at corner and move Tilman to safety? Pay Sharper? Make a play for Otogwe? Anything is possible when your wall is up against the back.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

waffle..heeheehee.."wall is up agaisnt the back" I hate when that happens.

  • In reply to gpldan:

trac..good assesment. I beleive that our line is maybe C- to D. Two reasons

#1 age Kruetz may have the heart but he's getting bullrushed almost on a weekly basis.

#2 Guards both A & B gaps are being left open during the pass and then not being opened when Double Duece is on the way, now it could either be poor footwork and planting your self wide enough during the pass and/or poor speed for traping or blocking (age issue)and possible coaching lack there of.

#3 tackles need wide and strong walls Williams fits this. The tackle in some way has to be independent from the core. being to tightend at C & D gaps and be able to brush the DE away and pass JC ...OMaliye yeah I f!#!#kd his name up he sucks at this.

#4 now this maybe a poor assesment of last year and hopefully Tice can work on gaps and footwork and gel this line but the amount of depth we have and age is what concerns me and has for a while. Even if JC feels a bit of a twitch from our line he is too unseasoned with this line not to feel to speed up, it's what we all saw last year, he then becomes uncomfortable and tries to do to much on his own..it's also why his mechanics goes to shit..he's in full panic.

WE NEED TWO mind you TWO Beasts in the core..young ready to take the bull by the horns BEASTS..our depth is shallow and as MB said we cannot afford one to go down or we go back to the pannycake line and it looks like a cat fight on rush street, two girls slapping at each others faces..that is not an O-line... that's what you pay for on a friday night with jello or a mud ring and the cat fight in the ring.

  • In reply to gpldan:

My favorite Ted Phillips lie from two weeks ago:

"We're not one of those teams who goes hog wild in free agency every few years."

    Ummmm.... yes. Yes you are.

  • Good signings, but let's not forget that the cancer remains and get carried away.

  • I think the peppers move Dramatically Improves our defense. We still need a good safety to complete our defense. Lets improves our offensive line with another good guard. Then I want to see a veteran receivers in the mix. I am very optimistic about our recevvers already and I have been saying from the beginning to throw to aromashado. If all of these areas are adressed we will be playoff bound.

  • this is a huge development. Chester Taylor is a Bear. He will bring a lot of weapons to this team and i pretty much would rather see him in there instead of Forte. Forte will heal up and the two of them should do well if we can move Omiyale away from Guard and back to right Tackle. we still need a Guard though. Kreutz should be healed up and good for another year or 2. he was hurt last year but didn't bitch about it and no one knew.
I feel good about the effort that JA is showing. i feel good about our owners realizing that the time is now. the fucking time is now!

  • classic!

  • SHIT..It's happening to fast I was on the other thread...HELP ME!!!!!!!

  • Who are we!!!!!!!!!!????????

THE DAMN CHICAGO FU@!$#!@$ING BEARS!!! That's who we are!!!

as coach said earlier...I HAVE A NAVY BLUE AND BURNT ORANGE ERECTION and it has lasted longer than four hours...should I call a doctor?

    (all jokes man....all jokes)

  • In reply to tkfay:

I'm not going to pat myself on the back but I had the sense that the Bears had decided to go for broke. If you really think about it, everything started with Cutler. Once they gave up the ghost to trade for him it became an "all in" game. If last years miserable failure of a season means a division crown for the next 4 or 5 years then, "Hell Yeah" it was worth it, and like Tom Kaufman, Lovie might win a contract extension if this next season produces results.

If by some accident(chuckling inside) Lovie is released, I wonder what firebrand coach would be available to take over the reins and ride off into the sunset of his career with 2 or 3 more Superbowl wins representing our fine organization?

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

  • In reply to tkfay:

How about them Bears,Finally. I have been a die hard fan for 45 years, and this is as aggressive as I have seen them that memory remembers. They are definitely opening the checkbook so far. Check it out, signing Peppers,Taylor,Manamuela thats just in the 1st 24 hours. How about an Encore with a free safety and a dominant Guard?? I would be O.K with Ryan Clark,Otogwe or Sharper,Rolle(although they may just be too much $$). Clark or Otagwe should fit the budget and do the job though. Keep it going Bears, Dont Stop Now!!

  • In reply to tkfay:

    Guys-

Im gonna repost because you guys chose to ignore me...kidding...

But back to the contracts. Honestly, doesnt it make sense to front load the first year to lessen the cap hit when the cap does come back? I really dont know enough about that but that seems to make sense to me?

  • In reply to Dmband:

Dm, none of the Cap stuff really matters because the world ends in 2012 anyway.

Wow what a day this has been. I dont usually follow the Bears too much during the off season as there is rarely any thing to get excited about.
This is going to be great,or the worst disaster in Bears history. I am loving it,All-in for next season,no playing around. I cant believe what went down today.3 count them 3 free agents.

Let the drama begin. I am giving 50-1 Urlacher aint got the balls to call Peppers a pu@@y.

The 2010 season just got real intresting.

I was really down after this past season and I thought nothing could bring me back to feeling good about my team until today. I know that they still have needs but this is at least a huge ginormous step in the right direction. I actually feel so good I'm going to watch these 1985 Bears videos right now.

They're classic. Man I remember this being on tv right before the Super Bowl but barely since I was only about 5 at the time. I feel good again, now lets get a safety, preferably Ryan Clark.

    Chester Taylor - 4 fumbles.

    Adrian Peterson - 16 fumbles.

Boldin to the ravens for a 3rd and 4th round pick

  • In reply to Dmband:

Boldin and a 5th to Baltimore for a 3rd and a 4th. He also signed a 3 year deal with Baltimore. Seems pretty cheap to me. Didn't Jerry offer the Bears 2nd rounder last season?

  • In reply to Dmband:

    True. My bad

  • In reply to Dmband:

Hey! Who ARE you people? And what have you done with the REAL Chicago Bear Management team?

They'll be there on week one Al. With Kevin fucking Payne at free safety negating the whole thing ....

  • In reply to Dmband:

Sorry Dm - I'm a commenting slut so I'll take this one. In relation to your question ... I haven't got a fucking clue.

  • In reply to tkfay:

ummm, no, you are not allowed to call anyone a scumbag Jersey. That is like Blagojevich teaching giving a talk on ethics at Northwestern.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

i fucked that one up. it lost all it's cleverness with the grammar hiccup so i guess it's not true. You are officially not a tool anymore Jersey!

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    Doc-

Yes, and thank you for feeding my already feeble ego.

  • In reply to tkfay:

I am on record as being leery of pursuing Peppers, but DAMN, this sure beats the snot out of sittin'around and standing pat.
Apparently, they WERE NOT "pretty well set".

Hopefully, they at least put a clause in Peppers' contract that he can't take the same plays/games off as Tommie Harris.

Matty mentioned it yesterday but it "bears" repeating, you gotta love both ways the Chester Taylor signing cuts.

The Lord giveth to the Bears and taketh away from the Vikings.

Yo, Darren Sharper, wouldn't you take a few bucks less to have Julius Peppers rushing opposing QB's throws into your waiting arms?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Al..right there with you... I wanted Kampman because of the $$$$$..and I will be honest I didn't think lightining could hit us two years in a row.

I'm still a little speechless...remember I said a little... as it was said before I will be pounding my little FU@!$ING fingers on my keyboard.....

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Whether you agree or disagree with the moves, I'll say this: My. God. They are going to go down swinging this year.

  • In reply to JeffHughes:

I knew the big money was gonna be spent on D. I called it yesterday or the day before. You win with good players, period. If we can get a good quality SS Cutty will have the plenty of opportunities to light it up. Ooohrah!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

FS Trac, we have like 10 SSs.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

My bad. I meant the one that knocks the shit out of someone.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

This is going to be one entertaining year!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Gents,

    I

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Yes, we need to fill the O-G spots, bad. I know we're gonna be throwing until J-Cut's arm falls off, but you still occasionally need to run in short yardage. We need some BUFFs to roadgrade downhill. That ain't happening if we keep Omiyale inside.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

And in regards to Sharper - yes, friggin, go get em! It's like Christmas in March!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

MB..Preaching to the choir brother...I've been screaming about this for over two weeks.. don't get me wrong I am also excitied about these moves but again if JC's on his back..well you all know the answer to that!

The Bears will hold it together next year. Don't sweat it. Judging today's signings they are quite aware of our shortcomings. JA has a plan. JA I owe you an apology, you have proven(for a day at least) that you want to keep your job and in doing so you finally realize that means the Bears must win. Its really a shame you didn't understand that until now but I forgive you(for today at least).

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Feeling you brother. Cover 2 doesn't work if the FS makes mistakes and can't organise people. Spending $130 million was very impressive, thank you Ginny, but how about $5 for Darren on a single year contract please ? Draft your stud next year. Brandon marshall has caught over 100 passes the last three seasons - we can't scrape a first round pick together ? Chester's here - cool. Forte and Chester and Bell. Bang bang. Great. Who's blocking in the middle where 80% of runs go ?

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

OK - they have my attention now.
Adam Schein and Jim Miller (God rest his shoulders) were both dogging the acquisition of Taylor the minute it was announced on NFL Radio, and then proceeded to talk up Peppers but harp on what a horrible move it was for Chicago.
To both of them, I bid "a good day, sir!"

Minnesota is really, really going to miss Taylor next year. And with The Pepper on the other side, Tommy Butter will have NO EXCUSES next year unless a pack of wild dogs chews his leg off.
I'm not thrilled with Maneamalunawhatever because it keeps one of my favorite 3rd stringers on the bench (KD), but the dude can block. What's the over/under on Olsen being traded before the draft?

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

You know what, I take back the comment about Manumaleuna.
    288 lbs?????

Cripes, just put HIM at guard. I had to look up his weight after I saw the photo of him next to Peppers. I bet he's actually closer to 298.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

    Brownie, its called penis envy.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

I LOVE DA BEARS! Hopefully the deals turn out better than the Cutler debacle last year! The expectations are officially sky high. In it to win it!

  • In reply to LALaw:

    LALaw..can you explain debacle?

  • In reply to LALaw:

Damn.....Patriots kept Stephen Neal...I know it was a pipe dream but man he would of BEAST!!!! crap!

  • In reply to LALaw:

This peppers deal is going to fail HARD. "Orange" Julius, if he even tries, will most likely tear and break every muscle and bone in his body. He's 30 already, and he relies heavily on a large, and freakishly athletic frame that seems like it will break down easily. His knees will probably go out this year or next year, and the magical "C" on his helmet will strip him of all his talent. I think the Bears should have thrown in the towel, and tried to rebuild, because both sides are getting too old. Chester Taylor will probably suck too, because our offensive line is old as hell. The defense is old, and yet people think that it can return to form. That's like expecting your grandparents to compete in the iron man competion, it's too late. In conclusion, I think that Jerry Angelo should commit suicide. But hey, he had to make a move, even if it was stupid, and it is likely to set this team back even further.

JA, you're earning your paycheck my friend!

    YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!

Phil...I know I keep thinking this is a dream....Lighting striking in Halas Hall two years in a row..lets hope thrice and we get O-Line BEAST!

  • In reply to PhilfromSATX:

I can't wait for Suckatansky to come on. Mr. Rodgers had better look over his shoulder. We're baaaa....ack. Sooner than any of those assthermometers thought. Baaaaaaaaaahaaaaaaaaaa

I wouldn't be surprised if Brett girl pee's her pants and finally retires. She would be wise to consider such a move.

Jeff - instead of "Chicago Bears Put 2010 On Notice" the headline of the blog should be:

"Chicago Bears Buy 2010 A 6'7 285lb Fucking Steak Dinner"

  • In reply to PhilfromSATX:

I wouldn't shed a tear if he stays or goes, but to be honest I think that Angelo is a decent GM without Lovie calling the shots. When he's off Phillip's leash the guy has proven that he's not one to fuck around.
You have to remember that a major part of his job (especially as GM of the Bears) is putting on the waders and slinging bullshit whether or not he actually believes it (I think he doesn't, but that's up for interpretation).

  • In reply to JeffHughes:

blogfather..could this be the next ROCKY movie? I am stunned that they are going down swinging..but does this in the long run save JA & LDL their heads? in the eyes of Ginny?

Indeed....very good day. Even have sun here in Chicago...Cant wait to punch out and have an ice cold beer to put the cherry on the top of this one...

Can you imagine it ? Playing the Vikes ...running it up their gut with their old running back, their old safety laying the wood on them, and Peppers and Harris knocking the snot out of Favre. I think I just came ...

  • In reply to tkfay:

Eeesh. Are we on FanNation now ? Any white-boy homie-wannabes from Iowa on here ?

  • Peppers fun fact quiz time:

Peppers and D. McNabb share a special athletic achievement. No, it has nothing to do with Steak Dinners.

    What is it?

  • In reply to gpldan:

both to play in a Super Bowl & NCAA Final Four (i remember watching all four)

  • Both played in the Final Four and Superbowl. I don't want a steak dinner from you. That's what eastern European waitresses are for.

  • In reply to crowntheirass:

Waitresses?!?!?! That's what they call those where you are Crown? Niiiiice.

  • I hope I didn't jinx us with my junior high level attempt at humor Doc.

  • Done. Super Bowl!

  • Doc...agree want...Rolle but that seems to be on the outer rim..Sharper??? Saints are still wanting him back... Wilson o.k. lets get to it!!!

    AND THEN DAMN IT!!! GUARDS!!!!!

  • I want Atogwe from the Rams. Kid can play ball.

  • I'm pretty sure I've got a couple of years on SD. Fortunately my whizzer still works well but my kness are the shits. Man am I happy today. Hope we sign a FS, OL and big WR in that order.

    Go Bears!

  • OK, so IF Peppers plays anywhere NEAR to being worth what they are paying him, will he become known as

"JULIUS SEIZURE" as in "He who seizes many opposing QBs"?

Alas, I DON'T want him to be the second coming of the under- achieving, Tommie Harris which would make him

"JULIUS CEASE-HERE" as in, one who ceases to be efFective all too often.

Here's hoping I can shout "HAIL, SEIZURE!" often this fall.

Damn. This rant has me in the mood for a triple feature of
DEMTRIUS AND THE GLADIATORS, SPARTACUS and GLADIATOR.
all of which just happen to populate my DVD library!

6:50 into this clip is my favorite dialogue exchange from DEMETRIUS...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gkxmj5Edurc&feature=related

    "MORITURI TE SALUTANT!"

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Al....Glorious!!!!!!!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Al, make sure you don't have a seizure. You're starting to worry me. Baaaaahaaaaaaaaaa

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Agree! We're not done but what a start! Also, compared to getting Berrian a few years ago, I think this will hurt the BiQueens much more. Hopefully stone hands keeps dropping the ball and they don't have anyone to take his place on 3ed downs.

    Go Bears!

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

OK guys, lets dip our brains back into the reality pond for a few minutes. I suspect there may only be 1 more FA signing if that, however the Bears will still have the possibility to bring on a player or 2 via a trade. Having said that, if the Bears go into the draft without filling our needs on the offensive line, is it realistic to think we could draft a good quality guard or two in the 3rd and 4th rounds?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Any chance this lights a fire under the much maligned (and deservedly so) Mr. Tommie Harris?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I am smiling to myself thinking of Narcissus and Mr "I don't have time for the Pro Bowl" McKinney shitting themselves while they are thinking about having to play against Orange and Blue Julius twice a year...

  • +2, Clark please!

  • In reply to MB30SD:

+3 Atogwe/Sharper/Clark. Draft FS next year

  • Clark should be our #1 FS choice (see the two crushing hits on Girl-Olsen), or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8BEdeAwnxk, or: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgGwL0y_a6k&feature=fvw, or: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VALZ9TVyaXE&feature=related, or: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyNy-TkDGB0&feature=related

Can we PLEASE get clark? Please!

Also, we should get Sharper too.

  • We need to get Ryan Clark before we do anything else, anything.

Need proof? Watch these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyNy-TkDGB0 (more down the right side)

Please PLEASE let's get Clark... oh, and let

  • Didn't Lovie state that free safety was our biggest need a week ago? I could have sworn he did. If we don't do anything at FS that will just be silly.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

Shell Game..find the ball under the cup boys and girls!!

I love it...I think LDL maybe a prickteaser!! and JA is a lap dancer!!!

I'm not sure were these guys are going to come from next but lets make the next few days just as exciting as the first 24 hours...

  • Sign Sharper Now!

    Get Some!!!

  • Sd, I've figured JA out. The rule is to never tell anyone outside the family what you're really thinking, hence the "we're all set" comment. Using this logic its obvious to a smart man like me that signing a FS is a foregone conclusion. However JA could have known by saying he didn't need a FS we would think that he really would sign one so actually, he could have said that just to trip us up and he may have no inclination to sign one at all.

  • Holy Cow, Rolle gets 35 Mil for 5 years. I guess we are pretty well set.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/03/05/rolle-gets-five-years-37-million-from-giants/

  • yea that's super good stuff. nice find.

  • I'm just as excited as the rest of you! But one thing isn't clear to me, did roberto garza die within the last few weeks and I missed it? He did fine last year, why are all of you calling for two guards?

  • In reply to Church:

I've posted it at least twice already in he last 2 days. If we have one or two injuries on the oline next year we're screwed. We need 2 guards.

  • SD, did you see that wiiiiide shit eating grin? He couldn't wipe it off his face for a millisecond. That's a $40M grin.

He better fucking come to play man.

  • And hot chicks avoiding eye contact with you ... stoppit Doc !

  • For you Sd, from my favourite poet.

    Bits of Me
    By Roger McGough

    When people ask:

  • Sober two years so have some for me Doc ... you'll be humming Irene Cara all the way into town !

  • I'd say it's because they're billionaires Doc, but what do I know.

We still need to pick up a big back late in the draft. Our backfield is pretty small. Forte needs to get his ass in the gym, that college shit don't play. Forte and Taylor in the gym, yes.

  • Give TJ another year or two - let him retire as a Bear.

  • BRING IN KEVIN WALTER!

  • What was firstly Doc?

  • Top O the Morning to ya Lads. Hope all of you have a little extra bounce in your step today like I do. The bitching and moaning paid off guys and girls. I really think the Bears org. heard us and people like us. It sounds to me like they've woken from their hibernation and I'm very excited to see what else the front office and coaching staff is able to put together for next season. OoooooRRaaaahhhhhh

  • I've been thinking about our Oline. How does an off the bus running team ever get into the predicament of deteriorating to the point of being innefective? That's the million dollar question? I do remember Jaws laying most of the blame for picks at Cuttys feet which leads me to my next question? Is the line really as bad as we think or is it somewhere in between average and weak? I have reason to believe with a year under our belt with Cutty this team only needs to make one or two more well placed moves on offense to fix the flaws we currently have. Given the moves we made yesterday I happen to believe with confidence that those areas will be adressed and I think Bears fans can finally look forward to next year with a renewed sense of confidence.

  • Amen brother, amen

  • Hey Doc, for some reason the Rams gave Atogwe the lowest tender. What that means is there are not draft picks involved. So the Bears can go ahead and offer him a contract, but the Rams can match if they choose.

  • You are correct, Kreutz played in alot of pain & couldnt plant or drive last year. He has had surgery to repair it & will be ready to go. This should make a big difference in his play this year, obviously. Getting Kreutz back on track should make a big difference by itself. I would like to see us get a real good L-Guard. Have Omiyale at his natural position at R-Tackle to compete for a starting job. I think Tice will make a big difference as well. I hate to be Greedy here(actually No I dont), but a L-Guard and a Free Safety would be nice to add to the great mix we have already added. What a great day. Give credit where it is due, the Bears did a great job in the 1st 24 hours,(eat your heart out Snyder, lol).

  • I still hear talk about us signing a Receiver, just my opinion but I disagree. I think we are in good shape and very young at the position. They have a year under their belt and with the new offensive coaches I only see them breaking out this year. We still havent seen Eglesias, who many said the 2nd half of the season looked as good as anyone in practice. If we sign an old veteran he is going to stunt their growth & take away valuable reps and experience from these promising young receivers, just sayin. At this point I would rather see Free Safety and O-line as our next targets of Need. I would like to see us pursue Atogwe of the Rams. The Rams tendered him at a low level. So they get nothing in return if he sign elsewhere. They can match the offer though. Our new T.E with the hard name, I just call him Manimal, he will help out alot more than people realize to give us much needed blocking for Cutler & the running game. Maybe he can work with Olsen on blocking & the new system. Can we say goodbye to McKie please. Lets Go Bears, keep it going!!

  • What the Hell is with the Donkey? How does that relate to Da Bears, no Offense but I dont get how they relate to Bears Football? sorry, just Sayin. I just havent seen the support from Donkeys. like I have seen with eager Bear fans, just sayin. I realize you have posted here awhile, but I just dont feel it. I would rather see the Bears, rather than Donkeys, not like a Carnival show. We are Strong not the weak animal species, Sorry but we are the Bears.. Maybe I am too strong a fan, but I have been a die hard Bear fan for 45 years. WE ARE THE MIGHTY BEARS!!
