Chester Taylor is a Bear

From PFT:

Chester Taylor will stay in the NFC North.

The former Viking agreed to a four-year, $12.5 million contract with Chicago, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.  $7 million is guaranteed in the first year.

The Bears are just getting their checkbook warmed up, with a deal for Julius Peppers on the way shortly.

Taylor's contract, like the one for Kyle Vanden Bosch, includes a lot of front-loaded money in the uncapped year.

Look for Taylor and Matt Forte to split up the workload in Chicago next season.  Both excel on passing downs; now the Bears just need to find someone that can block for them.

Somewhere, LaDainian Tomlinson is wondering why he can't get any love.

  • ah. second. This is very cool.

  • Taylor is a very good back. I will be excited to see them BOTH on the field at the same time- then one or both motion to WR.

  • Somewhere, Kevin Jones is cursing at himself for deciding to hurdle that corner and blow out his leg. Yo Kev' - it's the Not For Long league my friend. Terrell Davis and Bo Jackson ended careers on fluke plays too buddy.

    Articles like this:,manumaleuna-bears-olsen-05.article

are why Neil Hayes is a moron. He starts the article with the declaration: "the question isn't should Olsen be traded or not." - and then... HE ADDRESSES the question in the article! The one he just STARTED the article saying was not the right question to ask! Damn, that is some suck sports writing. Olsen is headed out, Angelo just doesn't want to seem desperate that nobody is giving him what he wants for his pretty boy.

  • I'm not sure what excites me more, the thought of Taylor and Forte in the backfield for us.......or the subtraction of him from the Vikings' backfield. AP better learn how to carry the rock, or it will be a long season for the Queens.

  • In reply to MattySouthside:

Agreed, I'm just as excited to see him leave Minny as I am to see him join Da Bears. Taylor was underapprciated in Minny and saved AP from a full workload. If Minny can't find a replacement, and AP will have to become a 3 down back, I think we'll see an increase in turnovers and perhaps an increase in nagging injuries for the man they call 'All Day'.

  • In reply to MattySouthside:

    ok....on the SVP show:

6 years, $72 million....$40 mil guaranteed. ($12 mil roughly for first three years)

    pretty slick angelo....pretty slick

Now we do require the service's of Mr. Suh. Not bad JA, make sure you wash off Ms. Ginny's scent before you go home to your wife. I'm so bad.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Sorry, typo. Now we don't require Mr. Suh's service's any longer.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

It's nice to see my Bears start to play like the big boys and keep their fans excited. This should be the normal modus operandi, not only when the organ-i-zation's leaders' jobs are in jeopardy. The Chicago Bears became a big market team today.

I concur. Today made the last month of bitching all worth it.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

trac...bitching really???? I LOVED IT WE NEED MORE!!!!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

AAh, its a good day to be a Bear fan, for me anyway. We got one of the best blocking T.E's. Plus we nailed down Chester Taylor who will challenge Forte & make them both better. They both catch and block well too. I think it is a good deal for us, 12.5 mil for 4 years with 7 mil guaranteed the 1st year(uncapped). Then Peppers seems all but but a done deal as well at 6yr 72 mil deal, with a reported 40 + mil guaranteed in the first 3 years. Lets keep it going, now lets nail down a free safety & some o-line help. GO BEARS!!

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Goodbye Vasher. Goodbye Davis.

Where can we get more money to go after a WR and SS?

  • No matter who they sign - Bears record next year 8-8

  • In reply to MrARodgers:

  • If we all know that Peppers can't leave without singing a deal, then the braintrust has to know that as well.....right? Dumber things have happened, I guess. Taylor and Peppers signed today is huge, but we may see a trade of Olsen for somebody's #1 as well. That along with help on the OL could be hugely exciting. Too bad guys like JA and LS have to have their jobs on the line to starting making moves that make sense.

  • haha we got stronger, Queens weaker. Olson for Marshall or Boldin- lock it in.

  • Everyone's excitement over Chester Taylor may be tempered by the fact there's talk coming out of the NFL Network that the Queens are showing interest in Thomas Jones. Chester Taylor is a solid RB but I don't know if he gives us anything different in the backfield considering his skill set is a mirror image of Forte's. I think Taylor is very solid and may prove to be crucial should anything happen to Forte next season.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Jets are looking to sign Jones back. kill that noise lol

they better look to sign westbrook, LT, or fargas (lmao)

  • Stand by for waves of trolls...

  • In reply to SpawnOfDitka:

I give it another day before Max shows up, or at first big Packer move. Tells us all what a big dude he is, and how he will kick our ass if we don't like it.

  • In reply to SpawnOfDitka:

They've agreed on money and terms of the deal, 6 years with huge money up-front, just making sure the league and NFLPA sign off on the language. Hot Damn.
