Wow. The false "First!" post. That's really fucking embarassing Lobo. Sorry, man. So will you still be posting on here, or y'know, moving on .... ?

    Like Ricky Bobby said .....

  • A shit not first..damn you mike v....slow to the punch

  • In reply to nicholsra:

Sorry lobo. I promise to wait for you next time.

  • In reply to mikev:

    It's all good.

  • In reply to mikev:

Jeff. Nice imagery Bud..wish there was a Bear in there.

    Again DAMN YOU McC's

  • In reply to nicholsra:

even better than a bear being there, is no bears until next week due to a first round bye

  • In reply to nicholsra:

"Now is the winter of our discontent..." - Richard III

Man, even Shakespeare knew what a post-season without the Bears feels like.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Al..are you the one that brought up about Briggs...Iv'e searched for answers but have found none.. Have you found any?

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Damn. Is that appropriate or what? Excellent quote Al.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

    Albert,

"These are the times that try men's souls; The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink...but he who stands now deserves the love and thanks of man and woman."
-Thomas Paine, "The American Crisis" December 1776

I think that aptly states what we all should be thinking.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    Semper fi!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    Jeff -

I think its time for a SB projection thread, or did we have one at the beginning of the season?

    Here is my projection:

    Vikings 30 Chargers 27

Narcissius will be the SB MVP, and we will all be even more PO'd then we already are.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

Viva...Narc and his Queens will be one and done..

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

Viva, are you serious man? Really? No way they beat the chargers or Indy. I also think the saints or eagles are the ones to beat in the nfc.

Agree with lobo. They are going to one-and-done it.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

    time will tell.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

    Indeed. I hope not.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

The Jets are in the Bengals head.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

Sorry if it's anathema to say, but I hope the Packers at least make it long enough to embarass Narcissus in the playoffs, if not win it all. I think that rivaly is so good because of the respect I have for them, as opposed to the Vikings who I just hate with a fiery passion.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

I was expecting 10 posts about Jones/Benson and there are actually very few. This is a sore spot for me and always will be. Management with any foresite at all would have seen the NFL trending to the 2 back approach (like the team that beat us in the SB) and done everything to keep BOTH Jones and Benson as a 1-2 punch. Instead both are gone- and tearing it up on playoff teams.
    Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • In reply to animal:

    I thing you are missing a c.

  • In reply to animal:

    Well, Jeff,

If the Jets hold on, we may be able to interview your guy (Zimmer) next week.

  • In reply to animal:

    animal..yeah..I don't get it either

  • In reply to animal:

    cincy..one and done

  • In reply to animal:

animal, thats true but then we wouldn't have Cuttly and "Kyle is our quarterback". But we would probably be in the playoffs.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

why does keeping TJ and Benson prevent getting Cutler? AND if the Bears were a winning, playoff team by keeping them why would it matter?

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

Anybody else think we should go after Mora over Martz? That is if he would go back to being a coordinator.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

    Thomas Jones TD.

  • In reply to animal:

Fucking bitter pill to watch these two run...

  • In reply to gpldan:

gplan...JA says take those two pills and this kool-aid from Halas Hall and call me in the morning.

  • In reply to gpldan:

I just read an article @ NFL.com and in the first paragraph they said that Caroll and the Seahawks have reached an agreement on the HC and Dir of Football Ops position, and in the next paragraph they said the Seahawks were still going to interview L. Fraiser on Monday to satisfy the Rooney Rule. What a farce.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Viva..It's not personal just good business..
    this and DAMN McC's

will be my mantra this year

  • In reply to gpldan:

Well Cincy's Marvin read the book

How to Suck as a Coach with your team

    by

    LIMP DICK LOVIE

  • In reply to gpldan:

    Yup.

  • In reply to animal:

I don't have any problem with Benson. He was awful in Chicago. Jones hurts.

  • In reply to JeffHughes:

yeah jeff...jones was thanks to benson

  • In reply to JeffHughes:

    My thoughts exactly.

  • In reply to MB30SD:

When did Lovie Smith take over the Bengals?

  • In reply to JeffHughes:

    Funny.

I think Lovie told Marvin that he could use his two challenges before the game, so Marvin thought he had 4. Fucking priceless.

  • In reply to JeffHughes:

Yeah but why didn't Benson run with such explosive power with us? I think there was something else going on that the media slappies never told us about.

  • In reply to number1ninja:

Probably the fact that there offensive line hits people.

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

I'm all for Dent in a yellow jacket and in at Canton. It

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

    BTW, couple random thoughts:

    * Cribbs out at browns (most likely)

    * While I'm on the Browns, I'm glad they kept Mangina... he stepped it up and they actually looked pretty damn scrappy in the 4th Q of the season - glad we didn't play them at the end (wait...). Good for him/them, they deserve it.

    * Marshall out at donkies (most likely)

    * Boldin out at AZ (most likely)

    * Mora/Carroll - weird

    * Zimmer will reup with the cats, unless they fuck it up

    * The Bills owner isn

  • In reply to PhantomOne:

Fucking Wow Viva. Queens win the 'Bowl ? Acid nightmare.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

To all.....I had asked earlier in this post and the previous about #95 Dent (by the way I am sure those who are frequent flyers on this blog and are tired of hearing why we can't get past 1985..just look how many are in the hall) ...that should answer your question ASAP! .. I do find it interesting that the Dipshits on the Bears website actually have to go to the past to keep them in the lime light..to bad it wasn't because they are looking for a new CEO,GM,HC etc....and why is the no answer for Briggs not on the site and the reason why?

Again it's not personal it's just good business

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I thought Led Zeplin sung that.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Posted this on the old thread... too fast...

    Kentucky,

    Definitely agree there

  • In reply to mikev:

I have not heard any line about the Jones....Benson ...nothing like watching previous bears talent on another team in the playoffs.

    Again DAMN YOU McC's..

I think I will end all threads with this from now on.. maybe putting the DAMN YOU McC's will give them the hhheeeeebbbeegggeebbbeeeess!

  • I try really hard to be interested in these post season games, but without the Bears in the mix it all just leaves me thinking about what might have been. I'm tired of thinking about what might have been.

  • In reply to mikev:

Amen... to that brother... hard to get to excited DAMN YOU McC's

  • yeah I know.

  • My bad, I thought the opposite. Of course, he might still be better than one of Lovie's guys.

  • Cowboys are spanking the Eagles.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

If Ditka was fired after establishing the only Bear dynasty in my lifetime, and making the playoffs 7 out of 9 years and won the ONLY Lombardi trophy sitting in Halas Hall, why does Lovie still have a job?

Ditka was fired after a 5-11 season which was only the 2nd non playoff season in 9 years. Go figure.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Ditka spoke truth to power. Big mistake.

And then, when he was done doing that, he went and spoke truth to the press. Strike two.

His fallout with Buddy cost him the D coordinator he needed to keep the egos in check. Strike three.

  • In reply to gpldan:

gpldan, you're right. Lovie sucks up to power, great move.

And when he was done doing that, he went to the media and lied his ass off, 2nd great move.

His relationship with Babich keeps getting better and better every year in order to keep their cover 2 intact, 3rd great move.

No I see why Lovie still has his job, thanks for clearing that up. LMAO.

  • In reply to gpldan:

C'mon, Ghost, that quote YOU pulled up was, quite frankly, a real PAINe.(Gee I crack me up).

The problem with my SHAKEPEARE reference is that the complete phrase is "Now is the winter of our discontent, made glorious summer by the Son of York" and right now, I don't see anybody coming along to make our winter of discontent into glorious summer!

Although it DID get well into the 70s today here in Tucson.

And, lest you think I am trying to flaunt some gigantic brain that has digested the complete works of The Bard of Avon, relax!

That line just sticks with me from watching THE GOODBYE GIRL!
I love the scene where a drunken Elliot Garfield (Richard Dreyfus) comes back to the apartment reciting numerous horrific reviews from opening night of his disastrous New York debut. "Elliot Garfield researched Richard the 3rd and found him to be England's first badly dressed interior decorator". That same scene also gives us "Capital P. Capital U. Capital TRID."

Have to admit, gang, Marvin Lewis PISSING away BOTH his challenges on UNWINNABLE calls BEFORE THE FIRST QUARTER WAS OVER is positively hilarious and makes Lovie's "2 timeouts for 1 challenge" gambit look like a work of genius!

Lobo, I was just responding to a previous post about Briggs in the last thread. I just assumed he opted out for health issues then lapsed into my annual "I hate the pro Bowl Game" rant.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Well done, Al. Well done. "He who would pun would pick a pocket!" Haha.

So the fucking Vikings are playing the fucking Cowboys...who do I root for? I despise both of those teams beyond belief. It's a perfect storm of football hatred.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I am very much with you on that Ghost. What a disgusting collection of teams, individuals, and egos that game will be.

Just when I thought this season couldn't get any worse, it seems all of the teams I dislike or hate (cowboys/vikes) are doing so well. Man, can't wait for next season.... at least I hope I can't. It really can't be much worse than this one so far can it?

    Go Chargers I guess?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    let's pray for both QB's to get hurt. that'll be a win-win

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

It's a tough one ghost. I guess seeing the Cowboys not get another Lombardi is key though ...

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Hey Jeff,

I take it Ted Phillips represents Ratzo Rizzo, is that correct?

  • In reply to gpldan:

Ted Phillips is the gay guy who gets 'Phoned by Joe Buck ...

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

    Random thoughts....
Cedric Benson today is not the same guy who played for the Bears. He finally grew up.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson is the coolest name in the NFL since Cledius Hunt.

I'm glad the Jets won because Benson and Chad play for the Bungles. Chad Johnson is an idiot, and he proved it with his TD catch and spectacle after Henry died. He tried to make the death about him, and that's despicable.

The other reasons I liked the Jets win is Rex Ryan is a cool coach with a great defensive scheme, and he realizes what a great safety (football player) Jim Leonard is. He is one of my all time favorite Badgers - an undersized walk-on who plays his ass off.

Another homer comment - the Bears should look at Paul Chyst from WI as offensive coordinator. It may be too soon for him to run a pro offense, but the guy will become a great offensive coordinator in the NFL some day. He currently runs a pro-style offense at WI, and he shows the ability to adjust the game plan based on the defense - unlike Ron Turner.

I hope the Eagles lose. 1979 and 2001 playoff losses to Eagles pissed me off, and Donovan McNabb is annoying.

I want to see a Bears vs Packers playoff game sometime in my life, especially a championship game. If it ever happens, I will cancel all vacations for the year to be at that game.

The best thing about the Bears this year was discovering Da Bears Blog and all of Jeff's great posts, and the excellent commentary from the fans of this site. Kudos to Jeff for putting together my favorite sports blog.

  • In reply to ImissButkus:

Marvin Lewis is now in a race with Lovie to see who gets fired first. After Cincy's regular season and the start they had, to slide off to 3rd and play this weekend, and get beat at home against a team that Namath himself said didn't think matched up to win...

It's incredible. They simply got out schemed, and OchoCinco delivered jack shit when it mattered. Biggest recent letdown at WR since Moss vanished against the Giants in the Super Bowl two years ago.

Now, get ready folks - for the New Orleans Saints. The Bengals of the NFC...

  • Nobody to motivate and develop Ced.
