Because I always like the Chicago Bears.
Only one note on this game. The news that Tommie Harris will not be suspended by the league against the 49ers will make this entire ballgame about him. When he places his hand on the ground, he puts his reputation right beside Lovie Smith's: on the firing line.
Chicago Bears 40, San Francisco 49ers 38

Wolfe is out according to PFT...any news on AP's status? Is it possible that we only go into San Fran with Forte and McKie in the backfield?
To be honest, it wouldn't shock me.

oh...first
Third. Jeff, you really think we'll hold 'em to 38?
Sure, in the first half.
Someones got to man up. I think it will be Hester on Offense and Adams/Harrison on Defense along with Briggsy.
You know of all the analysis of why our defense was so terrible against both cinci and the birds the one common denominator is that 91 wasnt in the lineup.....not saying that we would have won but at least he seems to consistently command a double team and take up space in the middle
I think it has more to do with both teams not being the Cleveland Browns.
Yep, this game is all about Tommie. If he can pull his head out of his ass long enough, he might just plug up the middle and cause Gore a few problems. Alex Brown should give whoever fills in at LT a long day too. No way these chumps outscore the Bears.... CHI 27 SF 21.
I'll say it again, I'm gonna be there tonight and I think you guys have it all wrong with all the neg comments. I don't think this sf offense is capable of running up the score against even a bad d like our own.
Also, agreed on tommie being a difference-maker. Say what you will about him, what he did was idiotic, I just think we're all gonna be pleasantly surprised tonight.
If they(sf) were any scarier on offense I would like them to win this one(not that we're an offensive powerhouse). Cuz there D plays with a ferocity that only #50 could instill. But I like what I've seen outta Cutty so far this year as well as last year against 3-4 schemes('cept for the cheese-lovers).
I know this koolaides tastin pretty good right now, but I gotta be fired up for game time today. Go Bears!
What is it about the Bears? I have to watch even when I expect to be disappointed.
The only way we score 40 is if we get the special teams rolling or get a few turnovers. As bad as the defense has been, the offense has been disappointing in most games this year, too. Cutler puts up a lot more yards than Orton, but we're not scoring more points thanks to red zone struggles and turnovers. That SF D held Peyton without a TD two weeks ago in Indy. I don't see us giving them fits by any stretch. If we win, it will be in an ugly, turnover-filled game, I think.
I hope our D can bring back the fire and make an idiot out of Vernon Davis, but it also wouldn't surprise me if he announces he will destroy Lovie's D well in advance and then goes out and does just that on national television.
If the D doesn't respond to that smack, they deserve to be beaten down every game for the rest of the year.
But that's why they play the game, right?
I have always hated the 49ers...
LET'S GO BEARS!!!!!
Well it sounds like we're going to be hurting in the secondary. Kevin Payne is out and Al Afalava is questionable which means we'll most likely be watching Craig Steltz and/or Josh Bullocks trying to tackle Frank Gore. Ugh.
Seems to me that Vernon Davis and his mouth have usurped the "All about Tommie Harris" tag on this game. Davis basically called out the Bears' front 7, save for some complementary comments toward Wally O. Vernon tried to back track a bit yesterday, no doubt on orders from Sammurai, but it was WAY too late to UNsay his orginal and totally disdainful comments.
If anybody needs to "man-up" it is that front 7 that Vernon Davis basically called a bunch of wussies.
Funny that the one guy VD gave and compliments to was the one guy he's going to line up against. Kind of a weak move if you ask me. Not only do you talk trash after losing 4 games in a row, but you call out guys you won't even be going against so your teammates have to cash the check your mouth is writing? Weak.
There is no way SF puts up any more than 17 on the beloved. Gut check for the defense...any chance to pull out the season is at stake. Our gunslinger goes west and puts up a four spot on the ninnys. Good as Gould adds 2 FG's to double them up 34-17. GO BEARS...wearing my BEAR DOWN Tshirt for luck.
The only reason I like the Bears tonight is the Forty-Whiners QB's suck ass. Good QB's kill us. If we hold Gore down (100 yds, 1 TD) and Davis (about the same), we win. If Gore and/or Davis have big games, we're in trouble. We were able to take RB's out of games earlier in the year. Let's hope we remember how that was done.
Go Bears!
I also like the Bears.
Wanted to pass this along to all the rest of the fans:
Ticket Chest is holding free ticket giveaway for an upcoming Chicago Bears home game. A drawing will be held for one pair of free tickets to the Chicago Bears. Visit Ticketchest.com for your chance to win free Chicago bears tickets on Dec 6th at home Soldier field against the St. Louis Rams.
I bet the Bears defense shines and puts Cutler in position to win it at the end. Go JC -- zip one through at the end. Gotta love that golden arm! Bears 13, Niners 10, on another last-second heroic throw!
The trick to that argument is pre-Super Bowl era.
After much thought, I will be visiting a friends house to watch tonight's Bears 49ers tilt on NFL Network game. If I see the same old crap of missed coverages, despicable tackling, and overall complete lack of effort/pride....I'M OUT BROTHERS!
In honor of Samurai Mike and the '86 D....here's a blast from the past courtesy of SI's vault.

Mike has some thick ol' glasses back then.
The best article is the one detailing the mechanics of the 46 defense...plus old articles from the 80's are always a hoot.
No.
Thanks for the info...I missed the game and just caught the lowlights. I'm putting my Hair-ass jersey on Ebay. Any idea what I'll be getting for it?
