  • Nicole time to rub the gnome!!!!!!!! lol

  • do, last I read Adams will be in Atlanta but had not heard if he suits up or not. Regardless, anyone trying to call this deal "bad" or "good" right now is just guessing.

    Sdwat52, you called it.
Damn, still 8 hours 'til kick-off!

Worse, no more 10am games here in AZ this season. NONE!
Next week got moved to an afternoon start and then every one else falls back to Standard Time come November and early games will kick-off here at 11am. Damn, damn, DAMN!!! We get ONE steenkin' 10am Bear game all season!?! We wuz ROBBED!

GO Bears! I want to be able to go to NFL FIELD PASS tomorrow and listen to the Atlanta radio play by play of the game.

I know Izzy SAID he was gonna play this week, but will (and should) the Bears let him?

Bear money has dropped the line from Atlanta -3.5 to and even -3.

We are getting Ravens@Vikings as the only early game on local TV here, as opposed to 5-0 Giants at 5-0 Saints but I understand the local programmer's call with so many transplanted midwesterners out here.

Uh-oh. Gotta go. 2 sad basset hound faces staring at me pleading for their morning constitutional.

    BEAR DOWN!

  • I know that I will feel like shit and partially responsible if the 1st game that I watch since Week 1 goes badly. So after Busch Gardens I am going to a movie instead of a bar to watch the game. Then I am going to get NFL Rewind. I need to see the other games anyways. Yes I might be insane. So it looks like either District 9 or Zombieland. Any recommendations?

Go Lions and Ravens and Bears oh my!!

  • Correction. We get Ravens - Vikings on CBS, which has the doubleheader today. Fox has only 1 game and because the NFL threw out it's 90 mile rule and gave the cardinals ALL of Arizona instead of just Phoenix as it's TV market, we do not get 5-0 Giants at 5-0 Saints. We get Cardinals at Seahwaks as the FOX local TV game. Local programmer has NO CHOICE in the matter.

  • Yuck. Narcissus is plucking Raven feathers left and right.

  • Yeah, do. No Adams tonight. Probably no Adams next week. It's going to take a couple of weeks to get him up to speed on defense to where he can even consider subbing for Wale or Alex. Adams might turn out to be a good move in the long run, but he might not.

I read a lot of the posts from yesterday about him and realized a trend among modern Bears fans (and maybe modern football fans in general, but I don't know). Many of you take the radical approach to following this sport, and that is not the right path. That is, you follow the new hot talent and you want it now now now! You know who you are.

Adams has potential, and you know what they say about potential. It means you haven't done shit yet. I think the worst thing that Halas Hall could do is get rid of the Bears leading pass-rusher in favor of this first round no-name. Did you not learn your lesson with Cedric Benson? Rex Grossman? Guys who alway have a ton of potential but never produced (for us, Benson, you bastard). Support Adams, but don't throw Wale under the bus!

Now excuse me as I step off my soapbox.

I think this Atlanta team is the toughest opponent the Bears will face all season. A win against them will be absolutely enormous. A loss could be devastating, as the Packers play the Lions and Minnesota plays Baltimore. The worst-case scenario is the Bears are two games behind Minny and suddenly back at third place in the NFC North with a Packer win over the Kittens. I think tonight is a must must win. Nobody is picking the Bears to pull through, and whenever that happens they play tough as nails.

Z, I saw Zombieland a couple weeks ago and it was very funny. I recommend it.

  • I wonder if Ray Lewis has a "We suck" dance?

  • i need Da Bears to raise my spirits....lost a CLOSE one to #1 Florida yesterday that SHOULD HAVE BEEN OURS!!!!! man the zebras are fuckin' up on every level of competitive football.

    BEAR DOWN!!!!!

  • Opera man in case Jeff doesn't get to it. Can't take any chances. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sct9igr7wMA&feature=player_embedded

  • I think the Adams trade was perfect. Think about it... If Wale, and i hope he shows some loyalty, as well as the bears, and be fare in resigning, we have a 4th overall pick from the 2007 draft. This kid was touted as the next Rice and was full of potential. Now that the Bears traded for him he hasn't done shit. With anderson and wale in cotract years, somebody is going to go. Don't forget Bear faithfull we have Melton and Gilbert who haven't seen any action at all this year. What do we do with them? I don't think that Wale or Anderson will be back next year with this move. Wale will want to much money and Adams is as good as Anderson or better. 13.5 sacks in 36 career games is pretty good in my book. 4th overall pick potential, i don't know. But when ypou throw in Rod'the bod' Maranelli this just seems right. He will make him better nl matter what happens.
As far as the falcons are concerned, there aren't any. We should have won that game last year with KO and now we have JC. We just need to start fast. Big pass play right off the bat w/play-action to knox or devon and get them on their heels. BEAR DOWN FANS!!! PRIMETIME BEARS ACTION... I LOVE IT!!! GO BEARS!

  • Is anyone watching the Ravens/Vikings game? The Favre-worship has reached new heights. At one point they danced around how Favre could have possibly been at fault in making a bad pass, took them like 15 other possible excuses to explain it may have, perhaps just this time, due to the intense pressure from the ravens D, yes, he may have actually thrown a bad pass.

I've stopped getting upset at the Football-Deification process and now simply find it hilarious. Cannot wait to play Minny later this year, that should be all Lovie is gearing the team up for this year.... Let's face it, they are the team to beat in the division and we don't play them till late. So every game, every momentum win, matters.... let's start with beating atlanta....

  • The saints are putting foot to ass against the G-men. Also, hearing these announcers verbally blow Brett Favre is truly entertaining, it is like a Saturday night live sketch. They literally can't stop talking about how much fun he is having and how much he loves his teammates and how much they respect him and how much he wants to fit into the MN gameplan with Adrian Peterson. even when they are praising Peterson, they still are giving Brett and handjob on the side. it is awesome.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Thanks for making me have to explain to my girlfriend why laughing out loud after reading that last sentence of your post...

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Percy Harvin is hurt. Ray Lewis almost just ended Favre's career.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Ray Rice TD! Ravens up by 1 with 3 min left!!

  • In reply to hollywood1:

agreed -- it looks like baltimore finally figured them out, and hopefully not too late. Breaking news: FAVRE SACKED BY RAW LEWIS!!!!

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    YES!!!!!!!! RAVENS ARE WINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    FUCK!!!!!

  • In reply to hollywood1:

watch out, despite the ravens just taking the lead for the first time with 3:30+ to go... this is classic favre comeback fodder. stay in his face, ravens D, more sacks.... make favre revert to choke mode...

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    CBS commentary:

Gumbel - "Minnesota may be struggling with Adrian Peterson first going down, but now Percy Harvin too? Can Minnesota win this game?"
Other Guy - "Whenever you have Brett Favre on your team, that's like your own personal Jesus. He can make miracles out of bad situations"

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Looks like the Ravens scored too quick. Damn you, Favre.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Ok, Brett Favre will offically be the only thing discussed for the rest of the year. don't even bother watching ESPN or NFL Network anymore. WHAT THE FUCK. Brett Fucking Favre.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

definately right... i hate that fucking guy.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

whatever happens, flacco is clutch under pressure....we gotta send some blitzes at that guy

  • In reply to hollywood1:

he fucking missed it!!!!!!!!!!!! fucking idiot

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    crap...missed it.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

what they wouldnt give for Robbie Gould right there

  • In reply to hollywood1:

If Baltimore had figured out the Minny scheme but one minute earlier, they'd have been 10 yards closer and this game goes the other way. study the tapes boys....

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Damn Viking. But a great fight put on by Baltimore. Too bad it just wasn't enough.

Meanwhile a couple miles east: Mike Brown just won his first game with his new team, being their leading tackler. Well done old man!

  • In reply to hollywood1:

No one...i mean no one, loves the taste of Brett's cock more than Dan Dierdorff and Greg Gumbel. He relishes it like a normal man relishes a perfectly cooked steak or an ice cold beer on a hot day. When giving Joe Flacco a compliment on his performance they STILL worked Brett into the statement. Brutal.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

haha... once again minny gets lucky...

  • In reply to hollywood1:

F'ing kicker! I like Flacco though; Mr. calm and collected. I know Matt Ryan is hard to get on the ground, but I hope when someone gets a chance to hit him they get their moneys worth.

  • that boy flacco is a football player. giving his guy a chance to make a play. we should circle this game when prepping for both minnesota & baltimore (a blueprint on how to beat both teams)

ravens need a 3 and out.

  • Not that i like him or his Patriots but cool that he's shutting up the Brett Favre talk for a while...

  • In reply to DrinkBurpRepeat:

    agreed

  • In reply to DrinkBurpRepeat:

Jesus Fucking Christ. New England is making a run at the Bears' record margin of victory (73-0, 1940 NFL Championship for you fly-by-night fans). They're up over Tennessee 52-0 at the beginning of the 3rd!

  • In reply to DrinkBurpRepeat:

I am not flabberghast by Tennessee. I didn't think that the Titans were a great team last year, but they had a string of good luck. This season they are not a great team and are having a string of bad luck...any given Sunday, any given year.

  • In reply to DrinkBurpRepeat:

ugh... that MN cheap win was almost as bad as a Bears loss for me. I hate those fucking bastards more than I can put into words.

  • In reply to DrinkBurpRepeat:

Look at the bright side, Al. In a few years (or perhaps next year) without Narcissus at the helm, those horn tooting assholes will be back to square one...a good defense, good run game, great offensive line, and huge question marks at Quarterback.

Whereas, we in Chicago will have Jay Cutler...

    Thank about it.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    i'll do u 1 better ghost. week 12 & 16.....we're taking 1 of those (if not both)

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

The Bears decided not to bring up RB Kalil Bell from the practice squad. So, we're going with Matty and Wolfe. Here's Garret Wolfe's opportunity to show everyone he can be a legitimate back in this league. Lots a doubters out there. He needs to have a big game and show everyone that he can take a hit and keep going.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I've been waitin' all day for Sunday Night.

Seriously, can this game start already?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Im glad the bears are back to wearing the white on blue....i hated that white on white shit......looking like a buncha marshmallows

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Good new for the Bears. Bengals' Antwan Odom out for the year with a ruptured achilles. It's a shame. Odom is a very good player.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

i think aromashodu is active for tonight........hope he sees a lil action

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    Bear down, baby!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

ESPN's golden boy Sanchez just threw 6...SIX...6...SIX INTERCEPTIONS. Looks like just because you crown someone doesn't mean it's true...

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Bear down bitches its go time!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

does anyone have a link to watch the game, i'm at work and i'm bored

  • In reply to jb2491:

you can watch it on nbc.com they are broadcasting free in hd

  • In reply to jb2491:

that sucks the site is blocked, I hate this fascist crap.

  • In reply to jb2491:

    hope this one helps...

    http://www.atdhe.net/9649/watch-chicago-bears-vs-atlanta-falcons

  • In reply to jb2491:

    Establish Gonz threat early...

    Roach stuffs 'em!!!

    Go Pisa!

  • In reply to jb2491:

    woohooo good job d!!!

  • In reply to jb2491:

Helll Yeahh!!!! LETS GO BEARS!!! GOOD DEFENSIVE START BOYS!

  • In reply to jb2491:

Getting 6 on this opening drive while eating up over 7 minutes will be huge in the long run. Three helps, but 6 will help put it away in the end. It's going to be one of those games, methinks.

  • In reply to jb2491:

    BEAR THE FUCK DOWN!!

  • In reply to jb2491:

Well fuck. Great tackle by Olin Kreutz.

  • In reply to jb2491:

I can almost hear the Tribune writers starting to type the Cutler smack....

  • In reply to jb2491:

FUCK!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!! he better not start that shit again, but damn that's a serious letdown after we were moving on them and made them go 3 and out

  • In reply to jb2491:

That was a pressure interception. Cutler held the ball a hair too long but he was under too much pressure. O-line needs to get on deck, and I think they will.

We need to do red zone stuff in practice...

  • In reply to jb2491:

    Bears D forces 2 3-and-outs! That's big.

  • In reply to jb2491:

For Halloween, Forte is going to be the Invisible Man.

  • In reply to jb2491:

    Frank OMG!

  • In reply to jb2491:

The fade in the corner to Hester and the crossing route by Knox - both passes hit them RIGHT in the hands.

THAT is why we need a true #1 WR. It's crazy when Bennett has the best hands.

  • In reply to jb2491:

    Lets get a 3rd 3 and out!

  • In reply to jb2491:

well....c'mon defense....we need another big stop

  • In reply to jb2491:

    YES!!!!!

  • In reply to jb2491:

Touchdown here could lock up first half momentum and be HUGE in the long run. Get it done guys! Our defense can't hold 'em all day long.

  • In reply to jb2491:

Ha! There it is. Johnny Knox!

  • In reply to jb2491:

Knox hands are STILL suspect - BUT I WILL TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to jb2491:

yo TD!!!!!! knox has to understand to keep the ball in his hands at all times, but good catch.

  • In reply to jb2491:

Anybody else seeing Harrison's play at DT? He was always dogged as being overweight, but he looks in NFL shape now and is really helping Harris and Adams get oush up the middle.

  • In reply to DrinkBurpRepeat:

This Tennessee game is almost painful to watch. I think I have to change the channel.

  • oh my lord its like they are out for blood....PISA!!!!!!

wait a sec is our secondary coverin receivers now? who knew

  • this is what our defense needs to do EVERY GAME!!!!! this is incredible

  • holy shit jason mckie made a good block!!!!! is it a full moon?

  • C'mon Frank OMG

  • Perhaps the reports of the Olsen-Cutler rapport were GREATLY exaggerated? Nice one Jay...

  • ..................

    no words.

  • jay needs to relax.....that ball was way high

  • WTF. Olsen cut his route off?

  • In reply to gpldan:

No, a shit pass by Cutler.

  • In reply to gpldan:

It's okay, Pisa. You go rest up for next season.

  • In reply to gpldan:

you have got to be fucking kidding me

  • In reply to gpldan:

    good night irene, 12 men?

  • In reply to gpldan:

wow, Lovie Smith might be fired after this year.

  • In reply to gpldan:

Holy shit! How many stupid mistakes will they make to lose games?

  • In reply to gpldan:

Thank God for the INT ... way to go Vasher!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

wow. from a bonehead ST play to nathan vasher (OF ALL PEOPLE) to come up with a critical interception. wow....looks like a dogfight.

  • In reply to gpldan:

12 men on the field, then vasher picks it off and in true ridiculous fashion. he fumbles the goddamn ball! What the fuck is going on here?? Did everyone go to the same fucking party last night?

  • In reply to gpldan:

Keep the one-year wonder Forte off the doggone field!

  • In reply to gpldan:

    Nice run Cutler!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

would all of you shut the fuck up about matt? seriously, where was this in the detroit game? in ANY GAME last year? ride with the boys man...

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Seriously. Anyone who knows football knows it is all O line play. Gayle Fucking Sayers would be getting stomped with run blocking like this.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

It is painful to have a good offense but no confidence in the red zone with the running game!

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Attention Lovie and Ron Turner ... keep Johny Knox on the field at all times ... good things happen when he's involved in the game!

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Hey FQD1911, have you ever heard of the sophmore slump? Huh? Does fucking averaging 2.2, 2.2, and 3.1 BESIDES the Detroit game worry you?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

yes, but have you ever heard of there being 16 games in a season? or would you rather have ced benson back? what's your choice?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

if we dont get it on 3rd...do you go for it on 4th down? HELL YEAH... we might not get back down here...

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

My choice is for Forte to step up his game. He's guilty until proven innocent.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    THANK YOU CUTTY!!!! YES!!!! 14-14!!!!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    What an incredible fucking drive!!!!!!!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Jesus I am a god damn genius.

Is Lovie reading this blog? I told them to line up shotgun and use those TEs, and finally - he gets it!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Olsen made a good catch there it was a bit behind him and in the reach of the defense.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I was standing throughout that drive starting with the long Cutler run. Amazing and even the one run that Forte ran worked.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Two great hook-ups between Cutler and Olsen this drive to tie the game!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

A 3-n-out would be nice about now. How about a sack in there too.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Don't breath easy yet. We need a defensive stand with enough time on the clock to split the uprights...

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    ...or a special teams letdown...

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    deja vu?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

cmon defense you gotta hold em....

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

biggest 3rd down ever coming up after that shitty kick coverage

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Why are our special teams killing us???

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I can feel a turnover, lets force one!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

A turnove would be nice right about now.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    0 sacks.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

oh my fucking god, cover the god damn hall of fame tight end. i repeat cover the HALL OF FAME TIGHTEND.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I was praying the Bears would hold the Falcons to a FG, but looks like they will put another TD on the board.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    roach is playing like shit

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    disgusting....

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    This is LOVIE's defense?

What can I say. Horrible kickoff coverage, and half those downs on that TD drive the Bears were not lined up correctly. The safeties are confused, the blitz coverages are confused, and the front four aren't getting anywhere near Ryan.

Atlanta, the Vikes, the Saints. The class of the NFC.

When do we play Detroit again?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Damn! Why couldn't we cover the kick like that! 89 yards to go

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    Defense: bad
    Special teams: worse
    Offense: ?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    C'mon Bears ... let's get going!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

cmon boys... let get it done...

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    LUNACY

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

this is like a video game

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

they don't need to score too quickly.....keep the clock runnning

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Abraham waited to pull that spin move on Pace until he needed it to count....

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Was I the only one that saw the facemask of Cutler grabbed as he was pulled to the ground on the sack?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

We need a huge play after that critical let down in pass protection.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

we will take it AGAIN....My nerves cant take this shit.... CMON BEARS...

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

somebody step up and make a damn play...

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    Mistake after Mistake!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Good God ... the Bears are self-destructing in the Red Zone once again.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

QB sneak ... QB sneak ... QB sneak!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    4th & 1.....who wants it more?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

We got 24 yards, we needed 25.

Anybody here for Forte up the middle?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Are you fucking kidding me? WTF

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    Pace you fucking idiot!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    Absolutely unacceptable...

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    fuck

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    Omiyale kills us again.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

sad self destruction. the bears truly beat themselves.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

fumbles, missed def assignments, 12 men on field, goal line fucking stands, pisa taken out on a cart, fumbles on offense, fumbles after we intercept, interceptions, 70 yard kickoff returns at the WORST TIME EVER, you fucking name it we did it...and we still should have won. we will bounce back from this BUT this game will come back to haunt us at playoff time just like last fucking year.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Let's see...Forte up the middle on the red zone...brillant Ron Turner..We would have never guessed! The run game sucked ass the entire game by what magic is it going to work suddenly in the red zone with the entire Falcon defense in the box...I blame Ron turner for this loss as well as our special teams who obivouly forgot to show up when needed the most.

RON TUNRER IS DONE!!! FOR GODSAKE FIRE HIS WHITE HAIRED ASS.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Andrea Kramer interviewing Matt Ryan and Tony Gonazales, and asked how Gonzales exploited the Bears defense at the half for the go ahead TD. Gonazles' reply, "the Bears were playing the Cover 2, and I ran a simple out and up, a route I've ran a 1,000 times." God damn Lovie and his Cover "nothing, no one" 2 defense! God I hope he and Angelo are both gone after this season. Bring in Cowher or Shanahan.

  • In reply to ColoradoBearsFan:

why would you get rid of Angelo? that doesn't make sense.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Tough lost to look at,We had 2 weeks to get ready.
Well I not going to say the sky is falling just yet.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

I forgot who posted it last season on here but"Help wanted big MFer to push other big MFer around on Sundays apply within"

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    1) Harry Hiestand needs to do something about this offensive line. We can't run worth a shit, and they single-handedly lost that final drive. False starts on a game-tying drive? And your QB gets hit on a 3-man rush?
    2) Omiyale must be benched immediately.
    3) Was Marinelli on vacation this week? D line was awful. I don't think I saw Matt Ryan get hit all night. You don't give the other team 20-25 yards on offsides yards and not get a single sack.
    4) I wasn't too displeased with the secondary. Couple of plays the safeties got caught out of position, but for the most part contained what was supposed to be a very explosive attack. Especially considering they got no help up front.
    5) Need to bring in a RB that can really push Forte for carries. AP and Wolfe will never be that guy. Jones could've been. But Forte needs a fire lit under his ass.
    6) Fairly pleased with Cutler's composure coming off the two bad picks.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

This is a bad team. Not Oakland or St. Louis or Cleveland bad. But a bad team because they play dumb football and defeat themselves...what was that...30 yards of penalties within the last minute of the fucking game?

This team ain't going anywhere. They could have a 11-5 season and miss the playoffs because the Falcons, Packers, Vikings, and probably the Eagles are better.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

The Eagles lost to the damn Raiders. We made this a tight game.

We are better than the Eagles.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Bears should have won this game 28-14. Hats off to the Falcons for making the proper offensive adjustments to move the ball at will against a inadequate Bears defense. Good thing Lovie is calling the defensive plays now. Plenty of bleam to go around on the offensive side of the ball. Ron Turner needs to go, and the Bears need a major off-season upgrade on the offensive line.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

truly speechless at the results. just waiting for the stats on this one. we were in the redzone at least 5 times and only converted 2. smh....don't know what to exactly say right now.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

poorly coached undisciplined team..... We are broken, inside the red zone tonight was atrocious. We are falling apart on defense and the "magical" offense is looking scary( well the O Line). I think people have to start earning there minutes on offense. Forte doesnt get the nod because of what he did LAST YEAR... We deserved to lose this game... 4th and 1 and so many options... false start, 4th and 6...you gotta pass... Orlando Pace is old and slow on the outside. The smaller faster defensive ends are killing him...

  • In reply to underway:

I disagree on Pace. Pace played his career out with the Rams on turf, and he looked like he had great footwork most of the night. Until Abraham pulled that spin move and Pace jumped off at the end - he was stuffing Abraham and holding up the left side - the HARDEST side to play, all without needing Forte to chip ANY of his blocks.

The problems are not at tackle. The problem is that Garza and Frankie can't push any of the NFL's 300 lbers around. And Kreutz is old, and while he's still mean as a junkyard dog, he's getting dominated by the bigger DTs - and it's especially evident on turf where if he tries to leverage the legs, they will just push him to the ground.

We have one of the smallest OL in football, and unless you get that old Broncos OL coach, that guy who coached with Shanahan that took the Super Bowl Broncos OL made up of 260 lb interior and used traps and pull outs to make people think Terrell Davis was a HOFer - unless we start doing stuff like that - we have no run game. The LIONS punished us inside.

  • In reply to underway:

sky is not falling, but we are not getting better... the o line is looking scary.... We need to find some o line guys that want to play...

  • In reply to underway:

Jay Cutler was the leading rusher for the Chicago Bears tonight with 34 yards...disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

I ask again, Matt Forte = Anthony Thomas?

  • In reply to underway:

What a bunch of overreactionary, whiny bitches. Yes the turnovers in the redzone hurt. Yes the Pace penalty sucked. But their last return (62 yards, I believe) is what killed us. We handed them that touchdown.

    Oh well, on to Cincinatti.

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

thank you sir. took the words right out of my mouth.

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

    RE: Forte bashing.

I miss Kevin Jones all of sudden. With AP and Jones out, we have issues with depth. But Forte isn't the reason all of sudden. Remember the Lions game runs? The NYG pre-season runs. This guy can still do it, he's a one cut and go kind of back. His knee injuries have taken his Madden speed score down 10 points, but he can still cut. He's getting MURDERED out there, he's getting NO push from his guys up front.

When we go back and watch the view from that wire skycam and look at the plays around Forte fumbling twice, you can see the Falcons just CRUSH Frank-O and Kreutz. FrankO is almost sitting on his ass as Forte leaves his feet.

I don't care if that was the ghost of Walter making that dive, he wasn't making it in. Now, his technique on holding the rock on both those fumbles was awful, he simply wasn't ready to get hit either time. His timing is screwed because instead of waiting for the block, the blocks are getting overrun.

Beekman must have shit on Lovie's private toilet or something, because I cannot see how he would be a downgrade at LG.

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

Oh yeah, and when ATL splits their fullback out wide right, do we really need Afalava to give him a 10-yard cushion on 3-and-6(ish)???
Good god-damn, Lovie. WTF was THAT?!?!?!

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

    I say again:

JAY CUTLER LED THE CHICAGO BEARS IN RUSHING TONIGHT! Something is seriously wrong with Matt Forte...and no preseason magic or Detroit bullshit is going to convince me otherwise until he is averaging more than 3.5 ypc! It's not just him, but it's a lot of him.

    Forte = A-Train?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I agree (see above) - I think he's still hurting...exhibit A was that 61 yd rush that he got caught from behind on. With an O-line like ours (not a bunch of road-graders exactly), he's getting destroyed before he can even think about making a cutback.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I think Nick Roach may be borderline idiot.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Does that make Cutler = Erik Kramer?

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

we drove on those motherfuckers so much, that is why it hurts so much to piss away the game to a team that we should have beat. too many miscues...

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

Well Jay can move the offense, but he needs more time then 2 sec,Olin can't man the middle like he used to.An "Oy-my god awful" can go back to being a reserve tackle again.

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

not scoring when we had 1st and goal is what killed us. the rest was just theatre.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

Nope, that last return killed us. We don't allow that return and we probably get the ball back on a punt at the end to drive for the winning FG. All of those other mistakes would've faded into the background.

Instead they give them a 41 YARD FIELD to score with. Even Tampa Bay can pull that off.

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

Statistically speaking, ATL's run game wasn't any better and our passing offense was leagues better than theirs. It came down to massive errors in the red zone where even a field goal would've put us in position to win the game. The INT by Jcut on that first drive = 3 pts lost. The fumbles on the goal line by Forte = 3 pts lost.
Take those back and the last drive is a game-winning FG by Gould, not a 4th and 1 on the 5yd line.

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

The Bears DOMINATED the Falcons. The turnovers gave them short fields and that last kick return gave them a short field..

  • In reply to MikeBrownhadaPosse:

It IS just one game. The Bears made too many mistakes to win. Cut down the mistakes and the Bears win. In fact, take away their turnovers and the Bears win that game by two TDs.

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

    I can't tell if you're joking, gpldan...

And don't throw Roach overboard yet. But Hunter needs to get healthy soon.

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

And someone needs to go all "Lawnmower Man" on Nick Roach so he can at least f-ing count to three. Look for him on all 3 Atlanta touchdown plays.
    1) He can't count and ATL puts 3 of their jerseys on 2 of ours. TD.
    2) He can't read Tony Gonzalez jersey #. TD.
    3) He can't tackle Michael Turner. TD.

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

Too many damn mistakes. Mental mistakes leading to dumb penalties and mistakes with the football leading to turnovers will cost you games every time.

What the hell did these guys do during the bye week? The defense didn't look prepared to handle the no-huddle and the offense couldn't protect the ball in the red zone. This kind of sloppy play isn't going to cut it if the Bears have any thoughts of getting into the playoffs.

This game is hard enough as it is trying to beat the other team, but it's damn near impossible when you beat yourself.

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

Two red zone turnovers is what lost that game. If we get two field goals from those drives, we win with a field goal at the end. The Bears beat themselves again. Can't lose the turnover battle, especially on the road. Other thoughts-
    1) I don't blame the defense for this loss, but how is Gonzalez wide open on third and goal?
    2) The offensive line is worse than last year, and Omiyale is a complete disgrace. He is the worst guard I've ever seen on the Bears in over 30 years. We need to start a petition to bench or cut his ass. It's amazing the Bears keep playing him.
    3) Why not a QB sneak with first and goal inside the one? It worked twice! Instead, they run twice over the left side where the run blocking is the worst. Horrible loss that left a bad taste in my mouth.

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

And Steve Rosenbloom - Go hump a goat, you jerk.

  • In reply to StarkyLuv:

i hope Ron Turner watches this game and learns how to use the running back over the middle like M.Turner and that he needs also to keep throwing crossing patterns like that one to Hester. that play was awesome. oh, and stop throwing the fade, it never works. the tigtend release works every time. Goal line running plays need to go to the right side becuase omiyale gets thrown to the ground every single time.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

the fade on the goal line to Olson to be exact. keep throwing the one to Knox!

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    Wow.

Another self-inflicted gunshot wound, to be sure.

While I cannot, and do not, take issue with most of the criticism leveled here, a lot of it is presented in terms that would make one believe our team is...

The Tennessee Titans who were waxed to the tune 59-0
    to drop to 0-6.

    OR

The 4-Letter Network's "Best team in the NFC" NY Giants, who were out of that game in New Orleans before the seats got warm.

    OR

The Eagles who, coming off their bye week,
found a way to lose to the RAIDERS!?!?.

    OR

That OTHER favorite of the Bristol, CT. crowd, the Jets, who, despite Dick Jauronstadt's best efforts to piss another game away, found a way to lose to Buffalo.

AT HOME in the Meadowlands, no less!

    OR

The Washington "Deadskins" who presented yet ANOTHER team with it's first victory of the season.

    OR

The Baltimore Ravens who raced to 3-0 and elite status and now find themselves at 3-3 and at the hands of Narcissus no less.

    Chill out, folks.

Yes, the season hit another bump today, but the season didn't END today.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

I think the frustration for me is over how close we came to beating these ya-hoos in spite of the unforced errors. Minnesota needs to take a serious tailspin for us to have a decent shot at the playoffs this year.
More importantly, we need upgrades at Guard and a healthy linebacking corps next year.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

any word on Pisa? i fear the worst for that right knee. that really sucks. he was a stud.

  • In reply to hollywood1:

    nothing yet

  • In reply to underway:

Ghost makes a good point. we are going to have a good record this year but to make it to the playoff in the NFC you are going to need a great one or win the division. this loss will sting even more in about 6-8 weeks from now.

  • In reply to underway:

I thought Pace did a pretty good job most of the game. John Abraham did not get a full sack. The line as a whole only gave up 2 sacks, but that was more because of Jay Cutler than great protection.

Forte = Thomas? That's the question that plagues me!

  • In reply to underway:

    Let's see:
    1) Omiyale - you are really that bad? I mean, next game, we'll just have Pace pick up Garrett and chuck him at d-linemen (i.e. the Ol' Fastball Special). Could it be less effective than whatever you, sir, are doing?
    2) Matt Forte - one time, I understand. Twice. Inside the two. How bad is your knee? Because it looks like it's either really bad and you're not saying anything, or an alien came down and slurpeed your brains out.
    3) Nick Roach - the UFL is calling.
    4) I don't even care what position Shawn Merriman would play in our scheme - sign him. We just need warm bodies at Linebacker at this point. Give the g-damn radio helmet to someone who scored in double digits on the Wonderlic.
    5) J-Cut, first INT was god-awful. Second INT looked like Olsen cut the route five yards early. Still drove us down the field and put us in a position to tie or win in 2-minute drill mode.
    6) Special Teams - WTF?!?!?!?! When did THAT shit start happening?
    7) Orlando, you came and you pancaked some linemen and then you jumped offsides at a critical moment (sung to "Mandy"). Gah. Why, man, why.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I started this game a fan of the decision to pull Hunter in favor of Roach - and I still am. Roach all around gives you much more speed and quickness, and he can hit 10x better than Hunter ever could. But either the signals need to go to Briggs or something else needs to be done against teams with no huddle attacks.

The Voice of Treason almost got showed up tonight, he thought it was the Falcons all the way and instead the speed of Hester and Knox and the TE play kept us in this until the very end.

I am looking forward to our new friend from Tampa, Mister #90 taking the field very soon. Because Wale wasn't himself out there, he was getting cramped and every time Ryan rolled out naked, Wale was no threat to stuff him back there.

Other things I saw: Craig Steltz is a liability on special teams. It may be the NFL is just a little too fast and too hard for Steltz.

Pisa - when healthy - makes reads and blows up runs much better than we could hope Jamar Williams to ever do.

Payne and Manning are not exactly making me miss Mike Brown and Mike Green.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Ok GOOD - USE those Tight Ends. That will force Atlanta to pull a safety out of the box.

  • In reply to gpldan:

    we will take it!!!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

What throw by Cutler and what a catch by Olsen!!

  • In reply to gpldan:

Nice job not to fumble by G-Reg

  • In reply to gpldan:

Nice job not to fumble by G-Reg

  • Earth to Kevin Payne..... calling Kevin Pain.....

  • All of a sudden the Bears look dazed.

  • heads up defense...stop all the damn blitzing... we are not getting to the QB...

  • got damn....could SOMEBODY cover a back? PLEASE!!!!!! fuck me....

  • Yeah if we don't start pressuring Ryan we're gonna lose this game by two touchdowns. Too much inexperience on our defense to give him so much time to wait for routes to develop. Encouraged by what I see so far from Hester and Knox, though. But not Cutler obviously and not Forte. Can't remember last time I saw Forte break a tackle.

  • how does a receiver get that damn wide open with 20 yards of field to cover?

  • Bears better come up with one of their big halftime adjustments because right now, it's all Atlanta.

  • Alex Brown has been called offsides atleast 5 times this year...CMON Defense TIGHTEN UP!!!!

  • Holy Hell!!!!!!!

  • Come on Halftime adjustment!

  • THAT'S why Hunter Hillenmeyer starts instead of Roach, dipshits.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

yep - can't have a Mike back there who has no idea how many receivers to a side.
Both of those TDs are squarely on Roach's ass.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

If we blitz, they hit Turner or the FB on the release. If we sit back, Roach can't hang with Gonzalez.

Ryan is sharp, and Alex Brown is just trying to time the snap and make something happen. Mark Anderson should be doing something on the other side, he's doing nothing.

The Falcons gameplan seems to revolve around confusing the shit out of Roach with crazy formations. So far, it seems to be working.

If we're going to win this, we need a steady no-mistake Cutler and control the clock, because our D is on their heels.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

No-huddle is slowing down the pass rush too much. Hopefully the Falcons braintrust doesn't keep that shit up in the 3rd quarter. Ryan's making good adjustments b/c our guys can't disguise a g-damn blitz; they have got to improve that in the second half.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

We can take this game with one big special teams play, a consistent pass rush, and a running game that can get more than 2 yards a rush.

Really hope we see the defense adjust the the Falcons' no-huddle. We can't spend the second half on our heels.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

the thing that stinks is that for the first 70% of the half, until the second pick, the Bears were completely dominating Atlanta on offense and defense..... We should be winning this!!!!!!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

we let that first half get away from us. should be up on them right now. Cutty needs to settle down and someone tell Roach that Tony G. is number 88.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

a smooth second half will get us a W.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

man i'm over here yelling at the TV so much, a friend of mine is over here laughing. i want to punch her in the face, but i refrain. da bears can do that to you sometimes....

    c'mon D

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

sigh.... we need a huge defensive stop here. Maybe even a turnover. Let's go boys! Get in Ryan's face!!!!!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I think this season will depend on the second half of this game. Minnesota will win the division, so to get to playoffs the Bears need to do better than the Falcons, Packers, Eagles, Cowboys, Cardinals, or 49ers to get a wildcard spot. Can they?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Babanineu is simply pushing Olin Kreutz around. The Bears simply cannot run block. Can not.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    Yes, big turnover!!!!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

The run blocking is awful. Add to that the fact that Forte gets touched and he falls down. We have to beat them with the pass.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

stop running on first down... CMON....

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

i'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Omiyale is the worst run blocker on the Bears...their regular squad and the practice team. WOW, he is bad. He falls forward on every run block, forward as in onto his face.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

The run game is broken. The season is almost half over and they haven't gotten anything going. Forte looks sluggish and the O-Line can't block.

And the coaching isn't up to par. The Bears aren't losing this game on the field, they're losing it on the sidelines.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Kreutz is just as bad a run blocker. I mean - damn - Beekman can play center right?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

we need to go back to the short pass and forget the run...get Forte the ball outside the tackles with screen passes and such. 2nd half short and mid range passes WILL win this game.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Yeah, Kreutz is the white jersey in the middle that is swallowed up by red jersies every play.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I can't help but think many of the Bears' problems with the run would be fixed simply by inserting Josh Beekman somewhere, anywhere.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

horrendous play calling on 1st down. Ya know, if the running game ain't there, quit f-cking going to it on 1st down into the teeth of run-blitzes.
    C'mon.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

And Bowman got VERY lucky on that play. Next time, kid, fall on the ball.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    It hit the ground

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

was that a back that broke a tackle....holy shit

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

does anyone else think forte goes down on that play?

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    2 and 6 very manageable...

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I don't think I've ever seen the Bears run the wildcat before

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I think the Falcons just took that TO to adjust for little Garrett Wolfe and all the trap blocking they know the Bears have planned to get this run game started.

Now - go back to Forte and put him wide out about every other play.

  • lots more football left...lets adjust Bears....

  • If Cutler doesn't throw the picks, the game is probably something like 17-7 or so right now, Bears in the lead. I put this first half deficit on the franchise, I'm afraid.

  • Yeah, great leadership by Des! Now punch that damn ball in there!

  • Forte is FIRED!!!!!

  • Bears: 1 yard and a cloud of red jerseys.

  • This is incredible. Did Matt Forte put money on the Falcons? Jeez!

  • wow. fuckin' wow. TWICE!!!!! please let us get a safety

  • If I'm Lovie Smith Forte sits the rest of this game. You do not put the ball on the ground two plays in a row at the goal line. Not acceptable. Forte has been garbage this year.

  • another defining moment of this season just like last season. this was a crucial drive. a fucking crucial drive. 2 fucking fumbles,2 fucking fumbles. remember this set of plays like the Minnesota game goal line stand.

  • WTF Fort ... two fumles in a row on the goalline. He is not who we thought he was. The Bears need to shop for a new RB in the off-season. Forte is too slow, and doesn't hit the hole with authority.

  • That's the game, ladies and gentlemen. Drive down the field and turn it over at the one yard line. Hell, a lot of the time I would like that, but this defense isn't producing a pass-rush so we can't even think about a safety.

  • It's amazing, two turnovers in the red zone.... what the fuck!

  • What the heck is up with Forte?

  • It

  • Matt Forte = Anthony Thomas

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

I'm afraid you might be right.... :-(

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Getting tired of red zone turnovers. Come on 22.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

The Bears defense is looking soft once again. No pressure on the QB, difficulty stopping the run and Lovie looks clueless on the sidelines.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Jason mckie is the fullback in the history of the sport.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Dez Clark is playing like a hero. You have the three best TEs in the game. You are lining ALL three of them up. Fuck fuck fuck. Line up on the 1 in the shotgun and just THROW the god damn ball.

We are the Dolphins at the end of Marino's career. NO run game, just ABANDON the run game, it does NOT exist.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    pisa hurt

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

3rd and 3 and we are playing 10 yards off the damn fullback...

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Too many turnovers... screw this game.

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

either these corners are dumb as fuck or they are afraid of getting burned by the damn fullback...

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

    Longing for Cedric Benson....

  • In reply to TheGhostofHalas:

Insult to injury? Pisa is out.

  • Oh, lookie here. That was Omayale's guy..... FUCKING AGAIN.
