Friday Rodeo and...THE PICKS!

If the Bears actually believe that the work Tommie Harris is doing will pay off down the stretch, I guess I'll remain optimistic.  Rod Marinelli has done some magical things so far but Tommie regaining his All Pro form would elevate this defense from good to great.  It has been some time...

I've been trying to understand why TJ Houshmandzadeh would run his mouth prior to playing the Bears and I've come up with an answer: he's an idiot.  "I feel I'm going to win 95 percent of the time and they can get the other 5."  I mean, you're TJ Houshmandzadeh.  Relax.  Good to see the captain responding.

The Johnny Knox lovefest continues at Sports Illustrated, where Don Banks wrote that "his game-tying 7-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter of the
Bears' 17-14 upset of the Steelers on Sunday was a revelation."  I've watched that play many times and, while it was excellent, I think we all need to relax and let the kid play ball.

I have never seen less football information from a local newspaper than what is available from the Seattle Times.  There's a story about Walter Jones' past and literally nothing else.  I wouldn't expect Matty H to play Sunday.
Turned my luck around with a 2-1 last week, bringing my season to 3-3.  Now we begin the ascension...

Chicago -2 at SEATTLE
I rarely bet the Bears but I realistically think they're going to win this game by ten-to-twenty points.  Or twenty-four.  Bears 34, Seahawks 7

Carolina +8.5 at DALLAS
What team is Dallas really eight and a half points better than?  Carolina is desperate at 0-2 and the Cowboys are coming off a demoralizing, primetime defeat on the opening night of their new stadium.  I wouldn't be surprised if Dallas lost.  Panthers 20, Cowboys 17

Tennessee +2.5 at NEW YORK JETS
The Titans' season is on the line in the Meadowlands and they're just too good to fall to 0-3.  I think they stall the Jets' running game and force Mark Sanchez into a big spot pick-six.  Titans 16, Jets 13

  • First! It's been awhile, BEAR DOWN.

  • I posted this the other day on the tail end of a thread, so i doubt anybody saw it. What I love about this new offense is the production we're seeing from the quick hitters to the wideouts. It's a favorite of the Ron Turner Playbook, but hasn't been productive in the past due to the lack of arm strength from Rex and Orton. Jay gets the ball out so fast, our receivers catch the ball in space and the defenses are having trouble reacting. The added bonus to the success of these plays is being able to add the play-fake quick out inside handoff to Matty, and he should eat up yards against defenses overpursuing and off balance. Are you seeing the same thing I am Jeff?

  • OK. Here I am with my healthy dose of pessimism.

    Emotional victory cheap-shot Steeler gang.

Seattle roster that reads like an emergency room waiting list.

    Can you say "Let Down"?

I don't want to spend next week discussing Seneca Wallace 300 yards passing and 99 yards rushing.

All the more reason to come out, find oir running game smack Seattle right in the mush from the get-go.

Go Panthers! Another loss for Jerra and his boys in the new TEX MAJAL (yeah, I stole, er, approriated that one but I love it) would be delicious!

Hard to see Jeff Fisher's boys going 0-3 plus, maybe it's time for a slice of hummble pie Rex Ryan.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

Awesome! I'm glad to have contributed Tex Majal to the lexicon. I love it here in Dallas when the Cowgirls lose, the entire city goes into a panic. It's refreshing when everybody isn't talking about the Cowboys bein Super Bowl bound.

  • In reply to Albertintucson:

  • In reply to FQD1911:

I DID see it Doc, and also responded on that thread.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

starting today i will be making a weekly prediction with the help of madden 2010. cutler passed for 250 yards and 1 td. they shut down my run game for the most part but forte had a pair of tds from less than 2 yards. also briggs took one back 77 yards to the house. final score 35:7 bears win

  • In reply to dutsami:

Oh MAN, UrlacherFTW, I sooo want you to be clairvoyant.

If the Lions beat the 'Skins, the forecast for D.C. will be "Cloudy with a 100% chance of crap".

Did you hear the exchange between Sonny Jurgensen and Jim Zorn on their post-game show last week. It went something like:

Sonny: "If I'm the QB and you sent in that halfback pass, I'm callin' time-out and coming to the sideline top ask why. I'M paid to throw the football!"

Zorn: "Then I'd have to bench you."

And THAT was after a WIN!

  • Do you realize... the Lions have not won a game without Kevin Jones? Crazy.

I watched that Keys to the Game thing on dasite and I didn't even think about before but all the injuries to Seattle really should make an impact on STs, Hester better strap his shoes on tight cuz I think he's got some runnin to do!

  • I would however like the middle screen yanked out and stomped on, that was an interception from Cutler to Forte just like it was from Orton to Clark. Man I hate that fn play.

  • did last week....paid big dividends
