  • Very impressive. But it's only game. And a preseason game at that. I think everyone has to be careful before naming Cutler king of the city.

  • Who's this Jay Cutler guy? Not bad.

  • Whether it be a preseason game or not, I've never seen a Bears quarterback with that ability.

  • nobody is naming him king of the city, but you can't deny that he's looking really good. he's better than the last decade of our QB's COMBINED!!!! keep it up jay.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

Sure, he looked good tonight. Looking forward to the next game. And the one after that. And the real season too.

  • In reply to FQD1911:

That catch by Aromashodu was f****n sweet. Highlight reel for the pretend season. I will be in Denver next Sun night for what I hope will be a climax of our preseason work. Very pleased with that arm on #6. Forte does indeed look in midseason form.
    bear down bears

  • In reply to SoCalBearsFan:

Dude, I'm going to be in Denver too - what section are you in?

  • In reply to SoCalBearsFan:

That was quite an impressive showing indeed.
    Jay Cutler: Rockstar
    Matt Forte: Rockstar
What was Hester doing on that bomb though? He was running sideways which slowed him way up. Cutler took the blame in the press conference, but I know he was really thinking: okay, he

  • In reply to SoCalBearsFan:

The WR position is going to depend on who can play special teams. I like Jonny Knox a lot, but I don't know how he's played there. Missed this game for a wedding (2 in a row). Nothing to stop me next week though! Watched the highlights on NFL.com. Anyone else a little giddy? Like it doesn't make any sense to see a QB wearing a Bears uniform making those kinds of plays? I think the offense is going to outplay the defense this year... but for a change all we need is for the defense to get us a couple turnovers a game. They should be well rested with all those 3rd down conversions we were making!

  • In reply to SoCalBearsFan:

To all the east coasters: How annoying was it to listen to the announcers only talking about the Giants? They also kept getting Bears names wrong. How was the game coverage in Chicago?

  • In reply to GoBears:

I'm in VA and the only place to watch was on the internets and the stream had the Bears announcers... What an impressive game...

  • In reply to GoBears:

That was breathtaking. I'm counting down the hours until the replay on NFLN tonight. This preformance was more then I could have hoped for. I was pretty disapointed last week 'cause I just wanted more glimpses from the offense. Well tonight was that and more.
The word I would use for Cutler is "Command." That is what he had, that we've never had. Or at least since Mad Mac.
BTW, this was not a good night for old man favre and the viqueens. Both Chicago and Green Bay looking tough.

  • In reply to GoBears:

I can't wait for Jays return to Denver next week.

  • In reply to GoBears:

And lets not forget how good Forte looked too. Best all around RB in the NFL.

  • In reply to GoBears:

Well, I hate to say it, but I missed the game. I went to a barn party and got drunk instead.

I have, however, been watching the highlight clips on NFL.com and am going to watch the game replayed tonight on NFLN.

Jeff is damn right. It doesn't matter if it is a preseason game...when have you ever seen a Bears QB that electrifying? No wonder Jay Cutler was 12-1 in Denver in games where the defense gave up 21 points or less. I hope yesterday evening's game silences all the nay-sayers from this April who thought the Bears paid too much for Jay. Fuck you.

Let's not forget Matt Forte. He is indeed the best all-around RB in the NFC, and one of the best in the NFL. Earl Bennett made two great catches (a result of two great throws). Devin Aroshomodaodafdaf shows promise and probably will make the squad with plays like that. If you ignore the fumble, you see the tremendous potential Garrett Wolfe has if he is given enough room to work.

Also, the only highlights for the Giants in the first half involved Brandon Jacobs, so I think that means the Defense did a decent job, but I'll wait until I watch the game tonight to make a ruling on that. It is a good morning to be a Bears fan. The G-Men are a legit team and got whipped by our B-Men.

  • In reply to GoBears:

Great game, agree with all you guys on standout performances but you forgot one guy who was blowing up everyone...PISA !!!!!!!!!!!!!! No more milk toast Hillenmeyer. PISA is a fucking badass linebacker.

  • In reply to GoBears:

I thought the Giants had a couple of their first string linebackers out on injuries, and the backups were in. No matter. Was happy to see Knox get to do a kickoff return, and almost get a a real good pass play had Caleb not overthrown him. I still think this kid is gonna be real good soon. He seems to get real good separation using his speed and that unlike Hester he was always a reciever. I'm a watchin' him.

  • In reply to GoBears:

Devin Aromashodu is the perfect target for Cutler. Either or both him and Riddeau have to make this club. They are both big tall targets that look like they can catch the ball. I just dont see a need for Rash if we have Hester and Knox.

  • In reply to GoBears:

Damn. I missed an ENTIRE THREAD! No computer at home stinks out loud, especially on the weekend (I drove in to work to check my e-mail today).

Well, I challenged you guys to make sure I had something worth watching today on NFLN's replay and DAMN if you didn't come through, big time! Have seen only the highlights so far. Looks like maybe Devin pulled up a bit on that one throw. Still too used to being underthrown by KO?

Per Haugh's Trib recap , Cutler AUDIBLED from a pass to the TD run by Forte. Like to hear that.

Apparently the officials want to protect every QB in the league except ours. Attention Zebras! Once the QB is in his slide he is OFF LIMITS from contact. ESPECIALLY in FAKE GAMES when you guys should be making that point! Screw, you, Michael Johnson.

Looking forward to next week (Fox National Broadcast, I think?).

    Now, just STAY HEALTHY, men!

  • In reply to GoBears:

Johnny, I have to give a possitive nod to Hunter Hillenmeyer. It was obvious he was in command of the second team, he was in on almost every play.If Urlacher were to get hurt, I'd rather see him in the middle than Jamar.
BDG, the only time i remember Greg Olsen in the backfield was in the red zone. Greg dropped from an apparent 2TE set, to a 3 RB formation. Naturally the D thought he was gonna block or run. Naturally DezClark was wide open! touchdown!

  • In reply to Church:

Hillenmeyer is a capable backup but Pisa brings more intensity to the game and that is what you want in a linebacker. I agree that i would rather have him in the game instead of Jamar.

  • In reply to Church:

I did not see the game, but just watched the highlights on nfl.com. Best play component to me? Forte's block on the pass to Aromashedu (I'm almost certain it was him; my eyes dont work like they used to).

Reminded me of a guy that used to play that position who said his favorite thing to do in football was to blindside a blitzing LB. Not that Matt actually did that, but his adjustment to make that block was the play of the game to me. Call me odd. :)

  • In reply to GoBears:

Chicago media quote of the day, by Rick Telander (one of my favorite sports journalists):

"...In fact, the 26-year-old, fourthyear man from Vanderbilt seemed so confident and adept at the quarterback position that he really didn

  • I'm happy, real happy

  • I don't who that bunch of guys that played at first, maybe they were a bunch of "Replacements" just filling in till our guy's could get out there. Wish they could play for the Bears, they looked pretty good. Yikes

  • yo...does anybody notice how calm he looks throwing the ball in that pic? just EXUDES confidence....I LOVE IT!!!!

  • The ability to make plays with his feet is what excites me most. It's something we haven't seen here before. Did you see that roll out long pass to Hester, I know it was incomplete but that was one hell of a throw on the run. I've never seen that ability out of our quarterback. Defense looked respectable and even though it is only pre-season, the Bears just dominated a very good teams first stringers. A much better showing than last week, I feel much better after watching that.

  • I'm wishing the best for KO this year in Denver, but throwing it lefty for an INT? Yikes.

  • In reply to Shady:

That was bizarre. I thought Favre slipped on a Broncos jersey for a second.
    WTF was he thinking?

  • In reply to Shady:

Now THAT was more fucking like it...ran the ball, passed the ball, rushed the quarterback....keep it up fellas!
