Brandon Marshall Still Available

The Denver Post is reporting that Brandon Marshall's tumultuous relationship with the Denver Broncos may be coming to a breaking point.  Per the article:

Marshall has previously expressed --
through a post on his blog -- distrust with the team's medical staff
over a nagging hip injury from last season, and now said he is unhappy
with the team's public relations staff. Marshall said he was
"disappointed" to hear from teammates they were told not to publicly
say they were happy Marshall was acquitted of misdemeanor battery
charges last Friday. Front office officials apologized to Marshall
Monday.

"Some things you can't control, and that situation, we feel like we
tried to handle that the best we could after that came up," coach Josh
McDaniels said. "Just trying to get everyone's mind back on football
and practice and doing what we need to do to get ready for Seattle.

The Daily News is reporting that the Jets are contemplating making a deal and various other clubs, including the Ravens, have been rumored to be interested.  With the Bears lacking the a 2010 first round draft pick, one wonders if depth on the defensive line or at linebacker might be used to get into the conversation.  This would be the kind of acquisition that would solidifiy the last question mark on the offense for many years to come.

  • Wouldn't it be sweet?

Too bad it's never going to happen.

But a Bears fan can dream can't he?

    Nope, not happenin'.

  • I think we need defense, sure. I doubt they'd accept an unhealthy Tommie Harris but it would work two-fold. It would get us a receiver and it would send a message that nobody is safe anymore on the defensive side of the ball.

  • How did I know the "relationship" would become strained after Marshall saw Orton play in a preseason game.

  • Sure Marshall is a top notch receiver, and he obviously has a connection with J Cut, but lets not ignore the fact that he is a raging women beating douchebag.

  • let's just get Matt Jones. He is tall, fast, has good hands and is in desperate need of a job. besides partying a little too hard once in a while he doesn't seem to be a sociopath.

  • I should think KO's performance last Saturday would have put a chill over any other potentional Broncos-Bears deals for the time being.

  • On the woman beating.

He was fully acquitted in a few days and the woman had written a letter to the league saying he was innocent months earlier.

Is he a dick? Yeah, it sounds like it. But will I care about that when he's winning Super Bowl MVP...no.

  • Maybe Cutler can "encourage" the Bears to pick him up. I can't even imagine what it would be like to have Marshall. Al makes a good point that Denver is super pissed at the Cutler/Orton fiasco so that if McDaniels let Brandon Marshall go and didn't bring in Christ himself in a trade he would be out of a job.
Personally i would rather keep my players that would be trade bait, spend a million on Jones and be done with it. I truly feel that a 6'6 receiver would make Cutty very happy. The kid just wants to play ball...you've seen his moustache, it was impressive, very ditka/1970's detective.

  • Johnny, Marshall can "encourage" the Broncos from now 'til the Super Bowl. The Bears' cupboard of trade goods is bare.

then let's suck it up, injure Farve and Rogers ever so slightly and fucking win this thing.

  • wow! we are still talking about marshall. what a fucking suprise. trade defense of players? what the fuck! are you fucking retarded. We have the offense. dont let 1 preseason game fool you. i am more worried about our defense than our offense. oh yea lets trade our best linemen and someother guy with him. like BaM said it makes no fucking sense. i love this blog but sometimes dude you need to get fucking real.

I'm with you Fresno, I despair at the kind of dumbass comments you get on this board. Total Homers. Give up TH for a receiver with a bum hip and an attitude problem ? Our star DT for a dicky receiver ... mmmmmm.

I am new here and I agree that our defense will probably be our downfall if any this year...(that is as long as Cutler is healthy). But at the same time why can't the Bears just pony up the $$$$$. You know that they have it. Cutler - Marshall is like the Manning - Harrison of the past several years.... those guys just mesh well... that would be great for our team. They have to double Marshall..... and there goes Hester. And if it isn't already obvious Cutler has brought out the confidence in Bennett and has already made him a better NFL WR.
