Release Radar 2/28/20: Real Estate vs Mickey Avalon

Another Release Radar, and another week of new music, including a few standouts. Real Estate put out a full length, and I'm excited to dig in, listening from start to finish. At first listen, "The Main Thing" stands out.

The second Sea Wolf track has a really chill vibe and makes for easy listening. Put on a pair of headphones, and take five.

Car Seat Headrest was in the rundown this week, and they've definitely tried something new on "Can't Cool Me Down." Not sure about this one yet, it's a bit slower and subdued.

Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake return for a spring fling that yields average results. They're both listenable, but not amazing.

The Hunna rip it up with Travis Barker of Blink 182 fame, and the Gorillaz give us more to chew on, with "Desole." Damon and his gang of superheroes continue to intrigue and surprise.

Your two doses of hip-hop come correct and courtesy of Mickey Avalon, who gets political on "Woke AF," and Murs, who is once again writing solid rap songs that you can understand, with zero autotune. "Rejoice" is another solid effort from one of the best MC's still making true rap records.

Our jazz piece comes from Jack Jezzo this week, and it's a gorgeous track. I've played it all weekend.
