Shopping At Reckless Turned Up An Old Everlast Single

Record shopping at Reckless last week I came across something I had never seen, an Everlast single (12" Maxi) for "I Got The Knack," released in 1990.

Yep, kind of unbelievable, and very old school, if anything ever was. I had owned this as a kid on cassette single, remember those?

They were affordable and fun, but very shortlived, and rightly so. Vinyl was much more pleasing to the eyes, and ears, and served a much better purpose.

But I digress. I loved the song and hadn't heard it in over 20 years. So, I bought it and have been spinning it since.

If you're unaware, Everlast got his start as a member of Ice-T's Rhyme Syndicate. Ice-T released his first solo album Forever Everlasting (1990), which this single was taken from. He also guest-starred on Ice-T's The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech... Just Watch What You Say! album with a bunch of other Syndicate members, and stole the show.

"What Ya Wanna Do?" (featuring Bronx Style Bob, Donald D, Everlast, Hen Gee, Nat The Cat, Randy Mac, Shakell Shabazz, Toddy Tee, MC Taste, and Divine Styler.)

If you haven't heard it, you have to go back and listen to it. Everlast is definitely in effect.
