"It's an illusion, this admiration/Of mutilation, my isolation
It's an illusion, this admiration/Of mutilation, my isolation, my isolation
My isolation, it's an illusion"-Cage The Elephant
How the hell does Cage Against The Machine keep coming up with funky ass shit like every single day?
When I saw lead singer Matt Shultz slinking across the stage on Jools Holland, eleven years ago, I cracked up. "Badass," I thought! But, I never expected this band to get here. Headlining Lolla and upping the ante with every, fucking record!
And now this...
No, it's not a new track. I've been hip to it since the day it was released on Spotify as a single. Yet every time I hear it come ripping out of the speakers, I'm still mystified. How do they always come with a new sound? Great writers challenge themselves, and Cage has already had a storied career.
"'Wicked" made them, but "Aberdeen," showed great pop promise.
Lest we never forget what "Cigarette" did for radio and for pop music in general. Let's just say it was a high point.
...then we get "Trouble." Is this the same band? Magnificent!
Which leads me back to the beginning. The house is NOT glass, it's fucking bulletproof.
