Begyle Brewing is my neighborhood brewery. They specialize in brewing beers that almost anyone can drink, and they've done very well creating their own headspace in this sphere.
But, over the last few years, they've stepped up their barrel game, throwing their hat into the proverbial ring of barrel-aged beers.
First, they took their Imperial Pajamas, an American imperial stout, and threw them into bourbon barrels. Thank god they kept the rest of their clothes on, right!? Not funny? Ok...I'll show myself out.
All jokes aside, that beer has become a huge hit. Now, each year they have a party complete with variants like Old Fashioned and Mexican Chocolate. People wear their pajamas and commence to sipping the nectar of the gods. If this sounds amazing, that's probably cause it is.
This year they are introducing a second BA beer, called Snooze Button. Snooze Button is Begyle's Russian Imperial Stout, usually brewed once a year, that clocks in at a hefty 10.50% ABV, and that's before the barrel-aging. Snooze Button got the same treatment, with a special party that saw limited variant releases, like S'mores and Cinnamon. But those were party only releases.
Here is what they released in bottles:
Rye Whiskey Barrel-Aged Snooze Button
Russian Imperial Stout aged in Buffalo Trace Rye Whiskey Barrels
Tasting Notes: Dark Chocolate, Rasin, Caramel, Rye
Bourbon Barrel-Aged Snooze Button
Russian Imperial Stout aged in Buffalo Trace and Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels
Tasting Notes: Dark Chocolate, Caramel, Molasses, Oak, Bourbon
22oz Bomber: $18 each / 10 oz. draft: $10 / 5 oz. draft: $6
For now, both bottles are still available in the shop, but they were both small batch, so you might want to head over there sometime soon.
