North Carolina is an amazing place to be these days, especially if you're a craft beer lover. For the last few years, we've been visiting friends in the Raleigh-Durham where there is a glut of good food and drink.
One of our favorite places serving incredible beer and pizza is Trophy Brewing. The beer is some of the best you'll encounter in the Raleigh area, and the pizza is right on par. You're not going to get a crazy long draft list, but you'll get a variety of flavors. Everything from sours and stouts, to that new haze we've all grown to love, Cloud Surfer, there's something to enlighten your palette.
Tip: pay attention to their guest taps, as there's usually a stellar choice on hand. I once had a Lynnwood DIPA that I have been dreaming about it ever since.
Trophy has created a handful of pizzas that will challenge all tastebuds. The pie is hands down some of the best I've ever had, and this is coming from a Chicago guy. Our favorite is "The Daredevil," complete with "fire-roasted tomato sauce, mozzarella, ghost pepper salami, fresh jalapeño, caramelized onions, and sriracha." Spicy and oh so flavorful.
If this is not your style, how about a plain cheese pizza? Here's a quick list of choices for that: "Mozzarella Blend, Fresh Mozzarella, Parmesan, Brie, Feta, Fontina, Blue, Manchego, Goat, Vegan Daiya, Queso Fresco." Again, there is something for everyone, so drink that beer, and argue over who wants what.
One of the best selling points of this brewery is their quaint, outdoor patio. Both dog and kid-friendly, it's set just outside of the downtown area in North Boylan. A little hilly and a little woodsy, it's the perfect place to have a slice of pizza and soak up some suds.
If you're in the downtown area and have a few minutes to spare, stop at Trophy Brewing & Pizza, and have a seat outside.
