Should you take your family to see Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer in 4-D at The Shedd Aquarium. Here are the pros and cons.
-Effects: Real snow! Yes, there's a snow machine in the top, left corner of the theatre, that blows blizzard-like snow storms into the room during certain scenes.
You'll also feel wind gusts, and see bubbles.
-Lighting: When Rudolph's nose lights up, so do the floor lights in every row. The kids loved this, once they realized what was happening.
It creates a warm, red glow throughout the whole theater. It's a fun effect, though very subtle.
-3D: You get the 3D Glasses and you'll see things like snowballs, and reindeer flying at you.
If you're not a member, it's pricey because you have to buy a regular Shedd ticket to get into the aquarium. Only then you can access their 4D movies, which cost $5.
-Length: It's short. Under 15 minutes long, and they're ushering you out of the theatre.
If the price doesn't deter you, then it's definitely worth it. We actually saw it twice because the lines were short, and the movie even shorter.
The girls did love it. There's a sing-a-long at the end, with the lyrics on the screen. We sang out loud.
