Pink Has A "Sh-t Day"

It's not too often that terrestrial radio turns me on to a great song anymore, especially pop radio.  Pink's new single is perfect.  Full of angst and filled with melody, it was destined to detain me.  I have been singing the hook insistently since the first time I heard it.

I think I've finally had enough, I think I maybe think too much
I think this might be it for us (blow me one last kiss)

Her voice is incredible and she shows a ton of range when she saunters up into a gritty falsetto:

Just when I think it can't get worse, I had a sh-t day (no!)

God I wish I could sing like this.  Her vocal does something to me.  It makes me want to dance, to mosh even.  This hasn't happened in awhile and I had to look into the song.  It was apparently written by her and a producer named Greg Kurstin.  At first listen I thought it might have been written by Butch Walker, because it has that rock feel flowing through it's veins.  Butch and Pink have worked together in he past, and I thought this was the case with "Blow Me (One Last Kiss).  I would be wrong...

One look at Greg Kurstin's Wiki page, and you can see that this man is accomplished.  He has worked with everyone from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Kylie Minogue, and played in many bands.  It's obvious now to me why this song is so good.  Pink and Greg have possibly crafted her best song and biggest hit to date.  Time will tell.  But I am heading out to grab this record.

  • Ha! That's funny, i wrote about digging Garbage's new single today. Guess all hope is not lost for radio. Both have always been interesting artists. Or at least unique.

  • i guess you're right. I wish it had more influence and better music, but THEY scared it away...
