Old Friend

Awhile back I wrote about a band called Caveman and how I was really digging their debut LP. I went to see them at Schuba's, and overall, liked what I saw.

Recently, I had my iPhone on shuffle and when "Old Friend" came on I thought, "Man, I really like this song!" But who is it? I ran over to my iPhone, and sure enough, it was Caveman.

Of course, now I have this song stuck in my head, which isn't a bad thing. There is such an old school pop sound to this song.  It reminds me of better days when I was a kid and my dad would throw on a Moody Blues record, or something from Electric Light Orchestra.  "Old Friend" sounds like something produced by Jeff Lynne.  It has that spacey feel, while staying in the vein of pop music.

  • This i love. Gotta check the LP.

  • Yeah, the LP is good. There are a few slower songs on there, but a handful of really good tunes.

i'm back again listening to this (still dig) but wondering why some of them look like they're in their late 40s. Grey hairs and all. That's cool, and gives me hope for my own next band, but debut album? Whoa..

  • In reply to Dan Bradley:

Yes, this gives hope for us all! Where do you jam and live at?

  • In reply to radstarr:

Yeah, we gotta jam right? I don't have a current gig, except for The Annual Jam Band, which is up in like 2 weeks...

Yeah, Rob and I play down in the city, in Lakeview, near George and Southport. I thought you lived down here too. It might be a cruise for you. We are working on some new songs right now and they are coming out pretty good. We usually play without a bass player, but lately my friend has been making a commute to work out the tunes. We usually play during the week, and play from 7-10pm.
