We sat in the bar last night waiting for confirmation of Whitney Houston's death. Sad; but that is the state of the world. Things break on the cloud faster than old media can keep up with it. There were rumors all over Twitter and Facebook, but that was the extent of it. So, now watching the documentary on TV 24 hours later, we truly know she's gone.
Whitney's passing seems surreal. I grew up with her music, and those songs played in the background at soc-hops. We danced to it, traded love notes. I bought the 45's, and the cassettes. She was one of the best parts of radio for me as a kid. My mom liked her and so did my brothers. She transcended all boundaries.
Another star has fallen, but will not be forgotten. We still have all those songs, and the memories that go with them, they can't be taken away. Here is the first song I fell in love with from Whitney Houston. Back when she had all the confidence in the world, the beauty, and the voice of an angel. This is how I want to remember her. Rest in peace...
