Once a year I lose my voice, singing Alkaline Trio's "Bleeder." There might be some screaming in there as well. Usually all it takes is a car ride through the city, windows down, shouting out lyrics. "You broke me like the cigarette, that I busted on the day I quit/but now that I've been drinking, I'm out of smokes and I wish that I had it."
Yesterday, was that day. For some reason the song popped into my head, while running along the lake. I went home and tore through my CD collection, but I couldn't find I Lied My Face Off. Huh? Where could it be? I'm pretty anal about putting every disc back in alphabetical order. I stopped and thought for a second? Where did I put it?
Do you know where I found it? In a portable disc carrier that I use to take with me, in the old car, before we got the newer ride. It all made sense. It was probably a year ago that we got the new car, and I never put this case in it. Once I found 'Face Off, I realized that yesterday was probably the umpteenth anniversary of me losing my voice; or as I aptly named it, National Bleeder Day.
So in honor of National Bleeder Day, let's scream along to AK3's classic cut. Crank up the stereo (home or car), get out the guitars (acoustic or electric), and let's all get horse together. Maybe we should get out those old Trio shirts, that now fit us like Will Ferrell's old brown tee. You know, the one when he wore, when couldn't give us enough cowbell. After all, it's National Bleeder Day!
This idea started with a song and ended with a blog.
