We've already made it into June and it's time to look back and see which guys put their stamp on the month of May. There was yet again a number of guys to choose from as Cubs prospects continue to make a name for themselves in the minor league system. Here are our picks for the Cubs minor league hitter and pitcher of the month:

Hitter:

He's 19 years old, but he stands at 6'4" and 205 lbs and all he did in May was rake. Eloy Jimenez in 28 games slashed a ridiculous .364/.407/.627 for the South Bend Cubs. The young outfielder put on a power display with seven homeruns and eight doubles, which lead to 23 RBI. Jimenez isn't just an offensive stand out for South Bend though, he currently leads the Midwest League in total bases (105), OPS (.908) while ranking second in home runs (8) and RBI's (35). Looking at some advanced stats, he has produced a 168 wRC+ to go along with .421 wOBA.  As one of the Cubs top international free agent signings, it's been exciting to see him continue to mature in his approach at the plate and develop in the states.

Eloy was also named Hitter of the Month by the organization.

Pitcher:

After struggling in April, right-hander Trevor Clifton bounced back in a big way in May. In 29 innings, Clifton allowed only four earned runs while holding batters to a .234 batting average. In five games started, he took home three wins while striking out 35 batters to only seven walks. The month was highlighted on May 12th against Winston Salem where he struck out 10 allowing zero free passes and runs in a win. Clifton ranks 4th in ERA and 5th in punch outs, respectively, in the Carolina League after his stellar month. At only 21 years old, the Tennessee native is quietly becoming another solid arm for the Cubs as he's put together a good start to his minor league career. In 226 total innings, he's posted a 3.70 ERA and 1.35 WHIP while holding batters to a .242 batting average.

Clifton was also named Pitcher of the Month by the organization.
