It's a proven fact that 2/3 of the space in the interwebs is taken up by cat videos. Okay, you got me, that's not true; it's really only 62%, but what's a little rounding up between friends?
I know that many of you could otherwise be spending this Cubs off day searching for photo galleries of epic Pinterest fails, so I appreciate the fact that you're here at Cubs Insider, catching up on your favorite team.
Then again, this segment isn't really about keeping up with your favorite team. No, it's more about filling some of the 3-hour block you'd have otherwise devoted to a Cubs game. Past ODO segments have dealt with baseball vernacular and movies, websites, and my Twitter mistakes, but this time I'm going for cuteness.
Not that that's a real stretch, as I've been accused of getting cutesy a couple times already. But after seeing Batkid throw at the first pitch in San Francisco the other day, I felt like I had to provide my small corner of the world with some (maybe) equally cute Cubs kids.
Now, I could have combed through YouTube looking for all kinds of different cute kids doing cute things (you tired of the word "cute" yet?), but I'm afraid of the red flags it would have thrown up with the NSA. Plus, ain't nobody got time for that!
I've written about indoctrinating my kids, and here's just a small example of the efficacy of my methods. This video was taken when my daughter was right around 18 months old, so it's about 6 years old now. The wall in our then-office was decorated with old Sports Illustrated covers featuring Cubs players.
Take Me Out to the Ballgame
This video was taken about a year later and features Addison singing what she usually referred to as simply "Take." She was recovering from a cold, as you'll notice; either that, or she was doing a spot-on impersonation of her favorite team. Please excuse the sideways video, I never was able to get that corrected.
Take Me Out to the Ballgame, Pt 2
Where's Ryno indeed. After letting big sis have the limelight, my son, Ryne, finally makes an appearance in this one. This is the three of us singing "Take" at a game in 2011, which means the kids would have been almost 5 and 3, respectively. Pay no attention to the woman singing in the background.
Okay, this isn't Cubs related, but it's too cute not to share. Along with my favorite team, part of the indoctrination program for the kids involved 90s hip-hop, specifically the Wu-Tang Clan. I mean, what else would you expect from a man who can still name all 10 members in under 4 seconds.
