I talked with a Cubs player last night who says it was tough on the clubhouse to watch Jim Hendry lose his job.
Hendry was a genuine guy with the players and cared about them he told me.
"Another GM I've played for was two-faced. He would ask you about your family one day and then turn around and rip you the next. Jim was real with you."
"It's too bad we didn't start winning sooner. Things had to change".
The player is also hoping that the new regime, along with Tom Ricketts, will eat the necessary money to clear out some of the baggage in the clubhouse. "It's going to be a lot of money..but it has to happen".
Anyone want to guess who that may refer to?
I'm also waiting with baited breath for the Bruce Levine "It wasn't all Jim's fault" media blitz to come to an end. We get it, but as one Tribune source told me before...
"We told him to go ahead and spend money, but we didn't say who to spend it on".
