Unpredictable Haiku: Marmol Gets The Win

Unpredictable Haiku: Marmol Gets The Win

Quite unexpected
Marmol pitches good inning
Ends up with the win

He lost his job as closer after just five games. Then Dale Sveum said he'd be used " in games where we are behind". But on a cold Tuesday night, Carlos Marmol was brought in to pitch the eighth inning after the Cubs scored 2 in the 7th to pull even with the Brewers.

A two-out triple by Jean Segura was the only mistake Marmol made, and the Cubs scored three times in the bottom of the eighth. So when Kyuji Fujikawa was brought in to pitch the ninth inning, it was to save a win for the man whose job he had taken just a few days ago.

The Cubs snapped a four game losing streak by beating the Brewers 6-3 and the handful of fans who braved the cold until the end went home singing "Go Cubs Go" for the first time this year.

It may be hard to predict which Cubs pitcher will earn a win, but it's not hard to predict the best way to keep up with Chicago Sports In Haiku.  Just type your email address in the box and click the "create subscription" button. My list is completely spam free, and you can opt out at any time.
