Voting In Haiku: Should Election Day Be A National Holiday?

Get the day off for voting
But what about us?

Ralph Giles, VP of Design at Chrysler, tweeted this morning that the car maker's entire workforce would be  given the day off so they could vote.

What about the rest of us?

Early voting is nice - one way to address problems some people have voting on Election Day because it's hard  to miss work. Thanks to early voting, many middle class Americans didn't have to choose between losing a  day's pay (or risking disciplinary action for missing work) and exercising their right to vote.

With limited early voting hours and people trying to vote early or late on Election Day to avoid missing work, the lines have been long.

But how about a national holiday - at least for Presidential Elections? Citizens wouldn't have to choose between working and voting. Lines could be shorter if people were able to choose different times to vote throughout the day. Maybe turnout would increase.

Would it be easier for you to vote if you had the day off work?
