Haiku Management: Cubs Stick With Quade

So why all the interviews?
Was it just for show?

After all this time
Couldn't wait a few more days
Talk to Girardi?

But I'm fine with this
The Cubs won't be good next year
Or the next either

So let Mike manage
With Sandberg as his bench coach
Hone his big league chops

He knows the youngsters
Who can turn this team around
'Cause he managed them

Ryno takes over
When Wrigley turns 100
That will be the year

Mike Quade's contract runs through 2012, with a team option for 2013.  Wrigley Field will turn 100 years old in 2014, and there's already been talk about plans for big changes leading up to that milestone and some sort of celebration when it's reached.

Even if they can't field a good team for more than a few years in a row, the Cubs do now how to market the assets they have.  So I'm looking forward to seeing Ryno sitting next to Quade for a few years to see if he has what it takes to manage in the big leagues.

Cubs fan are (have to be?) dreamers.  So let's all look forward to 2014 ... Ryne Sandberg's 1st, Wrigley Field's 100th, and ...

Yeah, it could happen
At least we can imagine
What else have we got?

UPDATE:
Is the dream over?
Sandberg is "disappointed"
Wishes Cubs "the best"

This report from ESPN makes it sound like Ryno thought he was ready:

"From my standpoint, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed," Sandberg said on
"The Waddle & Silvy Show." "It's a disappointing day for sure."

Sandberg said he's uncertain about his future with the Cubs on any level.

"I think now it's digesting everything and kind of change the wheels and turn in a

different direction," he said. "I was focused on something, and it's just taking it all in.

"I spent the four years in the minor leagues to manage at the major league level, and

that's where my heart is and that's what my next step is. That's where I look next.
So I'll take it a step at a time and see if there's another opportunity out there and go
from there.  wish Mike Quade the best; I wish the Cubs the best
and the Ricketts family

A report from Dave van Dyck further deflates the dream  but suggests managing
isn't the only job Ryno would accept:

Sandberg was not "offered anything" by Ricketts, including the top job at Triple-A Iowa, where he was just named International League manager of the year.

"I'm just kind of digesting it right now and I've got my agent getting feels out," said Sandberg, who wears a Cubs cap on his Hall of Fame plaque.

Asked if he would return to Iowa, Sandberg said, "I don't know. I'm hoping there's something else out there. I'm hoping to manage or coach at the big-league level."

Cubs offered nothing
To their great Hall of Famer?
That disappoints me.
