Remember Marge Schott
The racist anti-Semite
Who once owned the Reds?
Just in case you don't
Here's a short refresher course
Or click here for more
She is perhaps most well known for her controversial behavior during her tenure as owner of the Reds, which included slurs towards African-Americans, Jews, the Japanese and homosexuals. She was banned from managing the team by the MLB from 1996 through 1998 due to statements in support of German domestic policies of Nazi party leader Adolf Hitler
But this month the Reds
Were honoring this bigot
At their "Hall of Fame"
Each paid visitor
Got a free Bobblehead doll
Weekends in August
Here's how the news was reported on the Better Off Red blog, written by the Reds' assistant director of media relations Jamie Ramsey, who called it one of the greatest bobbleheads of all time (I assume he meant the doll, not Schott):
In my tenure here with the Reds, the team has given away some pretty cool bobbleheads. But I will go on record to say none can match the awesomeness as the one I'm about to show you. Feast your eyes on this ...That's right ladies and gentlemen - a Marge Schott bobblehead! You know you want one. And you can have one ...
The blog OMGReds.com called the doll "Sweet!" but warned:
Make sure you get down the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum and get yourself one - with only 4,500, they'll be going quickly.
The Reds Hall of Fame and Museum (which, racist bobbleheads aside, actually sounds pretty cool) sits atop a gift shop just outside the main gate to Great American Ballpark. Before Sunday's game we saw dozens of fans excitedly walking out with their dolls on the final day of the promotion. But it's not too late for you to get the perfect companion for your Adolph Hitler booblehead - more than a dozen are up for sale on eBay.
