Closer to free. Cubs 5 Brewers 4.
The Cubs finally found a way to end their 9 game losing streak to the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cubs jumped on a frustrated and unfocused Yovanni Gallardo, hitting him early and often. In the second, Darwin Barney doubled home Wellington Castillo to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead. Barney would take advantage of Gallardo, who... Read more »

Trade Dealine Preview Series: The NL. 4 teams seriously interested in Garza? Plus info on Gregg, Russell and others
Thanks to all for the anniversary wishes and the kind words yesterday.  It was indeed nice to have a “day off” but it’s back to work today and perhaps it’s just in time. We are hearing some interesting things regarding Matt Garza and there have been other Cubs pitchers drawing interest around the league as... Read more »

What use is an unloaded gun? Cards 6 Cubs 1.
The Cubs tried to shake off the haze of their miserable 2 hit performance against Jake the Snake Westbrook Wednesday night. Instead, they fell further into the abyss. A mediocre start from Scott FELDMAN!!!!! and more sleepiness in the batter’s box led to a 6-1 ass whooping from the Cardinals in front of a packed... Read more »

All upon a foggy night. Reds 6 Cubs 2.
You hate to double up your Tom Waits headlines but if the occasion fits…. Anyway, a thick fog hovered over Wrigley Field to start today’s game between the Cubs and Reds. The cloud would eventually dissipate from Wrigley field, move south where it would delay the White Sox-Blue Jays game for over an hour before... Read more »

Pain gonna make everything alright. Angels 4 Cubs 3.
Well let’s give credit to the Cubs. They’ve taken a bullpen blown game to new levels. Maybe even an art form. Last night’s loss to the Angels was another one but it featured something very old and something very new. The new was Carlos Villanueva, the latest reliever to add gasoline to the fire. The... Now you know. Reds 7 Cubs 4
The Cubs streak of misfortune rolled into Cincinnati today and despite getting off to a quick start, the misfortune continued. Ryan Hannigan’s 3 run homer in the 4th capped off a 5 run inning and turned a 3-0 lead into a 5-3 deficit. Gosh this sounds awfully familiar. The Cubs had gotten off to an... Read more »

Back in a New York groove. Cubs 8 Metropolitans 2
The Cubs shook off yesterday’s loss to Matt Harvey and opened up a fresh new can whoop ass in defeating the New York mets 8-2 today at Wrigley field. Scott FELDMAN shut down a feeble Mets hit squadron and rookie pitcher just wasn’t up to snuff in front of the Wrigley faithful, which featured a... Read more »

Motion passes. Cubs 2 Nats 1

Gio Gonzalez started for the Nationals and he was outstanding. Going 7 innings while only allowing two hits.
The Cubs stood their ground ( well really, ran in place or chased it’s tail is probably more apt…) and kept the game tight against a good team with a dominating pitcher. Then got some timely hitting and great relief work to defeat the Nationals. Let’s play with pictures

Fresh Fish! Fresh Fish! Fresh Fish! Cubs 4 Marlins 2

Fresh Fish! Fresh Fish! Fresh Fish! Cubs 4 Marlins 2
Anthony Rizzo enjoyed a return to his hometown and Scott FELDMAN!!!!! got back in to the area code of respectable with a strong outing as the Cubs defeated the Marlins 4-2 in front of hundreds at the big artistic disaster in Miami Florida. Hundreds of disinterested marlins fans looked on as Anthony Rizzo drilled a... Read more »

Kiss off into the air. Brewers 4 Cubs 2

Scott Feldman took the bump for the Cubs and was actually decent through the first three innings.
Sorry about no Brunch today. But with a late Saturday night game a brunch, followed by a Sunday afternoon game, I just didn’t have enough time or thoughts for all three columns. If I do skip the Brunch column again, look for snippets of brunch thoughts to be laced throughout the Sunday a wrap. And... Read more »
