Jared Wyllys of Sporting News and Forbes joined Myles to talk about a possible Kris Bryant trade and what it may entail. Plus are the Ricketts ducking fans at Cubs Con this year?
This has to be the dullest Cubs' spring training in my lifetime. Of course, when I think of the days when there was a picture of Mark Prior's calf every day in the Tribune, I tend to look skyward and thank whatever god I believe in that day (today it's George Carlin, as it is most days. Then again, George would never waste his time with either the fortunes of a baseball team or my emotions, but lets just go with it) for sparing me such needless drama.
So in that vacuum, we writers have to toss anything and everything into it to have something. This week, it's Jon Lester's new approach to try and throw to the bases...
The regular season is underway in baseball. I’ll still be giving you news and note updates, but they won’t always be Wednesdays and we’ll take some weeks off. But don’t worry I’m not going anywhere (wait, you weren’t worried? I was hoping you would be a bit worried) anyway, lets get to the news. Albert... Read more »
Beware the Ides of March, alright that applies more to Romans than Cubs, still beware. Anyway on to this week’s edition of News and Notes. The Cubs made a series of roster cuts on Monday. John joins Myles again to talk about the start of Spring Training and what he’s seen on the ground in Arizona. We also talk about Myles’ new adventure in Seattle, Jake Arrieta’s extension, and give David Ross odds for winning Dancing with the Stars (he’s got some healthy competition).
As Spring Training kicks into gear Dan (NorthSideIrish) and I will be providing updates on Cubs news twice a week. Dan as part of his around the league updates and me in this weekly piece. So let’s get to the news. Jonah Keri debuted his power rankings on SI.com this week. Perhaps not surprisingly, he has... Read more »
The Cubs and Reds battled in the penultimate game of the regular season Saturday afternoon in Cincinnati. Probable game one starter Jon Lester got his final chance to make a case for the Cy Young Award. Opposing the Chicago lefty for the Reds was righty Tim Adleman. It became clear early on Saturday that big... Read more »
It’s a bummer that the Cubs weren’t able to clinch the division in St. Louis. But it’s also not a bummer at the same time. I said earlier this week that, really, it doesn’t matter. Sure, it would’ve been nice to have it wrapped up at Busch Stadium in front of a fan base that... Read more »
The Cubs of 2016 are hell-bent on sapping us of even hyperbole as they render it insufficient on their march to at least 100 wins and an easy playoff berth. While last year was about the surprising production of young players and a regular season win total far beyond what was expected – not to... Read more »
Did you miss yesterday’s game? That’s unfortunate for you. Because it was fun. But don’t worry, Jared’s got you covered here. This team never feels “down.” I use that word because it has one of them “double meanings” in this “scenario.” If you “know what I mean.” (Okay, I’ll stop.) But really, if they’re behind...
