Spring Training: Hot starts have put these 10 players on Cubs radar for 2013

Bryan Bogusevic, OF, 1B: Bogusevic didn't look like he had a shot this spring but he has played his way up to the point where his manager has noticed, ‘‘The at-bats he’s putting together, the at-bats against left-handed pitching . . . he’s the leader in camp right now. I’ve been impressed.’’ Bogusevic is hitting .450 and has hit 4 doubles, 1 triple and 1 HR. That gives him a .900 slugging pct. He has also drawn 3 walks to give him a .522 OBP.

Cubs prospect Logan Watkins looking to make an impression this spring
Cubs prospect Logan Watkins might be a long shot for a major league job this year,  but it doesn’t mean he can’t make a good impression this spring.  In fact, he probably already has, scoring 670 in manager Dale Sveum’s annual bunt tournament.  Now I have to admit I don’t follow the tournament, but I’m... Update: Cubs should have kept Cardenas and dealt DeWitt
Timing on this article was slightly off, so now I’m updating this to reflect today’s decision to send Cardenas down and apparently keep DeWitt. I know that Blake DeWitt has impressed Dale Sveum from day one.  He looked like an early lock to win his roster spot back from Adrian Cardenas, who scuffled out of... Read more »
