Final Thoughts: Kris Bryant sits again as he nurses his sore left wrist. David Bote boosted the Cubs out of a four-game losing streak with his pinch-hit three-run home in game 2 of Monday's doubleheader. Yu Darvish was lights out in his most recent start.

  • KB actually received a shot in the left wrist.

  • In reply to stix:

Souza to ILhamstring issue. Perez recalled from South Bend

I wanna see Happ just go off tonight 4 for 5 with 3 RBIs cause the bottom of the order is taking their walks!

  • See Cubs are not alone. Cards just left the bases loaded with no outs.

  • Really don’t like the cubs pitching to goldschmidt in that AB, and I said they should intentionally walk the guy before the AB. I get frustrated sometimes that the cubs refuse to intentionally walk guys, and I know that comes from the analytics guys. But when goldy is hot in my experience he’s incredibly difficult to get out, and he’s absolutely locked in. We should’ve learned not to mess with goldy in spots like that from the way the guy bashed the cubs back in his Arizona days

  • Schwarber was too anxious in that at bat. He would have walked in a run with his usual patience.

  • In reply to 44slug:

I thought that was actually a pretty nice changeup. Hard to lay off that one. In the next inning, Contreras lead off and struck out on the same pitch, but with even more bite and looked way worse in the process.

  • In reply to Cubber Lang:

I can agree with that, but Kyle chased a couple of pitches pretty off the zone ahead in the count with 3balls. It understandably could have been the 200mph home run the previous at bat.

You simply can’t come out and start walking people with a five run lead in the 8th.

  • This team keeps winning while getting nothing from KB, Javy and Willy. Need to get those guys turned around come playoff time.

Bullpen shaky, but Wick is really proving to be a legit back end guy. IF and I do mean IF, Kimbrell can come back, would be lethal with Wick, Jeffers and Kimbrel.

  • Check out the follow through comparison between KB and Bote ( Bote is using his legs, hips shoulders and arms. KB is swinging with his one arm only with no power behind his swing not to mention his extreme uppercut.
