CubTalks with Tim Sheridan

One of the neatest things about being associated with a site like Cubs Den is that people send you all sorts of interesting emails. Frequently these are asking me or the site to pitch something on their behalf, and more often than not I don't even respond to any such email. But it has occasionally put me in touch with some really interesting people. I received one of those emails in the end of May from Tim Sheridan.

Tim is the public address announcer at Sloan Park. His work experiences has allowed him to film and interview the Cubs for the past 25 years. I've long been a fan of Tim's work at his website and the pictures he provides every spring on his twitter account @Boysofspring. I must admit though that I somehow missed that he had started a weekly web series digging into that treasure trove of materials he has gathered over the years.

The email asked if we at Cubs Den would mention the series because Tim thought it would be of interest to the Denizens. I finally had a chance to watch several episodes, and I certainly enjoyed the series. Here is the first episode that introduces a little about the series and the host and writer of the series.

I'm not going to link to all 16 episodes that are currently available, but I wanted to single out this episode among the few I have watched so far. Tim told me this was a personal favorite of his and I can see why. The video is of Shawon Dunston, Mark Grace and Ryne Sandberg taking batting practice in Spring Training 1997. I'm not sure I need to sell it any more than that to be honest, but without giving too much away I about lost it when Dunston started getting heckle that he "would've swung at that in a game."
